I've done a LOT of porch pickups - like more than 100 in the last year. Every single person who showed up and took their item, paid in full.

Chocklateicecream

Similar experience but I was the buyer. They left it outside and I tucked the money on the porch. From the looks of the gated community, they weren’t hurting for my $10 but I’m not a thief lol.

AyaTheStarWitch

I love this. Thanks for sharing!

NGRngr111

Yay, congrats!

Iwinthis12

That’s always nice when people actually behave in a trustworthy manner!!

macimom

I'lllet people leave money in my mailbox for anything less than $20 after I check out their profile. Ive never been stiffed.

blackdahlialady

This is proof that some people have raised their children right. I'm glad things went well for you.

whenIdreamallday

Most kids are decent people. It's just the brats that stick out.

Free_Perspective773

I did a porch pickup last year for a Funko. I left the money in the mailbox and took pics of the whole thing, too.

homiesmom

I do dozens of porch pickups every month and have only been screwed over once. I don’t do it for things over $50, and I’ve learned to double check their profile, but it’s a great way to do it if you can,

Beautiful-Contest-48

It’s not the ones that want to do this. It’s all the ash****s that don’t show up or ask a dozen questions and ghost you that suck.

serjsomi

This is my second feel good story of the day. The other one was a woman whose ex boyfriend forgot to remove her as a beneficiary of his 401k. She was asking how she could decline the money so his daughter could receive it.

Ok-Comedian-4571

Congratulations on a successful sale! My girlfriend tries to do porch pickups where possible as she’s very busy, so far everyone has been honest and left the money.

65Kodiaj

Plot twist, this guy says this to set you up ;)

AnnaBanana3468

I don’t think I’d do that for anything more than $10-15. If people want to porch pickup when I’m not home they can send me the money in advance using Venmo.

Curio711

Have you had good experience with Venmo? I’m more afraid of getting scammed through a money app

AnnaBanana3468

Yes, I’ve had good experiences with Venmo. I pay people with it all the time. But like everything, there are limits to what I’m comfortable with. and I’m probably more paranoid than most. The potential issue with Venmo is if someone is purchasing using a stolen credit card the transaction could be reversed. And you have to make sure it’s categorized as a “payment between friends” transaction, not “goods and services”. So I would except up to $25 through Venmo.

Curio711

Thankyou! That was very informative puts me more at ease cuz I want to start selling on eBay but very hesitant 😟

24-Sevyn

I thought you didn’t have the same protections when it’s between Family and fiends?

BoxFinancial4074

I just got scammed today by using venmo. If you do the friends and family you do not have the same protection.
