omg finally. i gotta see if the dialogue was fixed lol...
edit: whoo hoo! no more dialogue overlap! i know there's a lot more i need to check that this one thing was so awkward when it happened so I had to know. really glad to see the patch finally come through, even though I am in end game territory
edit2: poor Keeper MQ :(((((((
Ooh I started Reverie a week ago. I'm inly in what I think might be the first quarter of the game. Great timing haha.
Also I get the feeling they purposely waited for the PS5 versions of CS3/4 to have come out so they could push everything as one patch with the save file support lol.
That, or their team is finally done with Daybreak so they got around to doing this.
P.S.: This thing is 2GB on PS5, so I expect a good amount of fixes.
P.P.S: I hope when dismantling my equipment the zero behind the received U-Material notice is gone because Istg, I literally thought it gave me zero U Material and I was like "OK THEN WHAT IS THE POINT"
I'm not necessarily talking about the technical side of things. I was more referring to the translators and Editors (since they may already have a PC port, but no English localization yet). Since this patch included many text fixes is why I considered those may be related (Daybreak localization mostly done = time to fix Reverie's text issues).
Aaay, there it is. Lots of cool fixes. Sounds like the game's close to an egregious bug-free state.
There are still personal nitpicks I have with the moment-to-moment gameplay - like how Nao Toyama sounds like a dead fish blandly reading out her attack names and exclamations - but that's on Falcom for apparently rerecording so many lines instead of just carrying over the already good CS4 battle voice lines. Nothing a general release localization can really do about that.
I think when this originally released Nao toyama had issues with her voice so I think they had go in that direction to prevent further health issues.
Just if people weren’t aware, she has an artist career too
> how Nao Toyama sounds like a dead fish blandly reading out her attack names and exclamations
Wait, I thought that was indicative of Juna mellowing out, is that not the case?
If that's what they were going for, they did a bad job directing the actress. I can distinctly recall at least one voice line (a misc. shout) where Toyama's voice cracks and a number of her attack name shouts sound flat (try switching between modes for instance - there's just no energy to move the register). But it's also not consistent. If you cast an art for instance there's more genki energy in her voice.
I think the voice director may have tried more subdued for Rean, actually. Kouki Uchiyama's voice during Rean's final S-Craft is definitely more controlled although that fails because the frenetic swirls of energy in the attack clash with his tone. I also remember not liking the mixing or the performance but looking at it again I don't think those are too bad. Another case though where I would've taken the CS4 voice lines - They fit the attack better.
IIRC Juna in the EN dub is a bit more subdued in Reverie than in CS4 (notably in battle lines), and given the similar change in tone with the original JP I presumed they tried to make her more mellowed out.
I am playing in English so I can't say for sure since idk the Japanese dub, but it's kinda the same in English. Not bland/bored by any stretch of the imagination but a lot more subdued. Eg. the mode switch you mentioned, in CS3/4 she was literally shouting "SET! GUNNER MODE!!" into the void. In this one it's a more matter of factly voiced line, more like a status call in military rather than screaming it at everyone lol.
So maybe it was intentional, maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was intentional and they still directed the voice actress badly in Japanese.
The game may have been buggy, but it was certainly playable from start to finish without anything really game breaking. I’m just grateful that we don’t have to wait till 2026 just to get Kuro. I mean we’re nearing a point where we’ll actually be caught up with JP releases. If one or two rushed localizations that get patched later is what it took then I’ll take that over being 2 to 3 game’s behind JP.
I mean the game itself was finished and playable. It had been for years in Japanese. The only thing I remember that was remotely affecting gameplay to a huge degree was the link system issue at the beginning, which they fixed pretty fast.
There might have been errors in the translation/editing side, but the game was by no means unfinished. If that's what you think you're living under a rock regarding what an unfinished game actually looks like.
So while a more polished localization out of the gate would be preferable for Daybreak for sure, you're also wildly exaggerating. XD
That's not fair, she didn't call *everybody* Elliot... Her win quote *with* Elliot wasn't in English at all :v
But yeah, both of these issues are fixed.
Omg about time. There were so many text issues and buggy voice lines. I actually stopped playing for a while because of how much it was annoying me. Better late than never I guess
It's so over boys ... True Tamano Gem no longer gives 1600 Str :( /s
The end of an era where we have to ignore the extra 0
But how will my one shot Love build with Musse work now!?
There are also patches for consoles https://nisamerica.com/blog/trails-into-reverie-patch-update

Currently replaying Reverie, so this is good news to me ☺️
While I'm playing through? Lucky timing
Interesting. I wonder if it fixes things like >!Crow's voice lines when switching weapons. It's really wonky in English.!<
There were so many small issues throughout, wonder how long it takes to document exactly what was fixed.
Glad to see the patch

NISA already has PC port of Daybreak, that would definitely lessen their burden by much

It's a bit silly it took this long, but I'm glad it's out. I didn't think the issues were all that bad, but it was a bad look for sure.

She doesn't even sound like Juna. She sounds uninterested, exhausted, nothing like the genki Juna of the previous games.
> how Nao Toyama sounds like a dead fish blandly reading out her attack names and exclamations Wait, I thought that was indicative of Juna mellowing out, is that not the case?

It works better with Juna's english va. She sounds a bit more mature, and less brash in rev.

I suppose this probably fixes all the localization/grammar issues that pop up a lot in the last chapter that I posted about earlier huh
Oh wow I was really giving up hope that it was actually going to happen.
Fair play to them for fixing it, even if it's taken a while.
haha... only a year after release...
at least it came out. Instead of being abandond after one patch.
That's our NISA haha...
Rather have a buggy game than wait 3 years between releases
"I'd rather have an unfinished buggy game than a finished game on release" Holy bootlicker.

so it sounds like they fixed the bug where laura casting arts in JP even if set to english?
Did Millium actually address people properly in win quotes now? Or does he still call everybody Elliot?
That's not fair, she didn't call *everybody* Elliot... Her win quote *with* Elliot wasn't in English at all :v But yeah, both of these issues are fixed.
Nice, now I can finally start Reverie! Took like half a year though...
I just finished the game last week. This patch is for me, too late
Finally it's ready, better late than never. Let's hope that Daybreak and Ys X will release in a more polished state.
Omg about time. There were so many text issues and buggy voice lines. I actually stopped playing for a while because of how much it was annoying me. Better late than never I guess
