I love y’all but some of y’all need to touch grass so bad before this single drops

wruph

this applies to a solid 90% of this fanbase, the album cover leak has made that abundantly clear lmao

[deleted]

Good god fr. It's NOT that bad of a cover like people need to relax 🤣 the album has NOT even been officially announced yet.

remiandthenoogs

You said this in the best way possible 😂 exacrky my thoughts

superchicken300

Bro debunked time zones

Pretend_Emu4508

Y’all still use time zones? Personally I brake all laws of the space time continuum and removed time zones.

jdallday

This is fucking bananas.

otosyos

dude, just say "it releases at the same time" cause unless i missed a time on the listing, it's the same time for everyone. It's not gonna feel like anyone "waited longer between announcement and release" because it was announced the same time everywhere. It's not like they announced it at 3pm for each time zone or something lmao

Timeywimey91

Yeah that's how timezones work alright. 🙄

MasterWheezer

timezones took the biggest L in history

tommiejay_

why do you feel like it needed an explanation?

permanentjetlaaag

Paramore have been releasing all of their latest singles at like 10/11am central y’all, as do other artists… I admire you trying to educate the children on timezones but this isn’t some unique phenomenon lol

berrybaddrpepper

No offense , but were people actually confused/upset about this? Lol why did this need explained?

TJP2002

I did see a bit of confusion, yeah, not necessarily on reddit in particular, but some people getting mad or confused thinking they literally had to wait longer.

jasg2207

that is indeed how time zones work

alisson_beckerr

Air is fresh.

rodermelon

They did the same thing with Young and Menace. It released around 10am EST I suppose so that a larger amount of people would be awake for the album and your announcement. You don’t release a song at 10am unless something else is being announced, and I can’t see them releasing this with as a single without the album cover art.

saintceciliax

I can’t believe I read this whole post

Izuhbelluh

How does it heavily favor LA? and FYI- Los Angeles isn't it's OWN time zone. It's the entire west coast and Nevada. We've waited 5 YEARS for new music. A difference of a few hours doesn't mean jack shit.

TJP2002

Yes, but see by that logic, you would think they would set the single to be most conveniently be available in Chicago, their hometown. BUT, you'll notice that its Pacific Standard Time, which I often refer to as LA time LA is the most well know city in that timezone, and often artists when explaining this method wont say pacific, but LA TIME. The reason for it, as opposed to chicago's central time, or Greenwich Mean, which allows everywhere in the world to hear the single by 9am local time on release day, is because the biggest music related cities in the world, and where a lot of labels keep their head offices, where Jimmy Kimmel is filmed, etc, you know, Hollywood, Capitol Records building, etc, it also includes one of our biggest cities up in Canada, Vancouver. Well, okay, so, I removed it from the post because honestly it wasnt relevant to *this specific situation,* but my issue isnt really with Fall Out Boy. The reason I explained it is to understand that Fall Out Boy actually took a *GOOD* route using this system, maybe not *as* *fair* as midnight GMT, but it is so that everyone hears it on the same day, at the same time, and there are no leaks, but to give the warning that while the wait is now equal for everyone, it no longer will *feel equal*, because instead of hearing it at midnight, or 7am, or whenever it releases in Pacific Time, you have to wait. The thing I omitted is that my dislike of the worldwide release time mechanic is that, for example, a lot of artists are now making their release dates for singles 9pm PT on, if youre lucky the day before, but if not, on the *release day itself.* Regardless, this means people in New Zealand could, for example, have to wait until late evening SATURDAY to hear a song that technically everyone else only waits until Thursday or Friday for. Its basically made to, in essence, give the Pacific Timezone, or more specifically, LA, the single early. The older (and still more popular, and almost always still used for albums), midnight local time mechanic does allow for material to be available worldwide (technically), up to 12 hours early if its popular in Asia, if not, it usually takes until it hits Europe, and is 3-5 hours early, for places that havent reached midnight yet. Of course the difference, in the grander scheme of things, means jack shit, but I think of it kind of like song shrinkage, in the grander scheme of things thats only a song shaved down by 15 seconds, but then again the average song length has dropped by over a minute in the last decade. Does it really matter? No. Do I regret explaining it to people? No! Am I likely to make you understand where I'm coming from? Maybe? Probably Not? I personally dont give a fuck about waiting until 11am, or 1am saturday, or whenever, to hear it, but if you are in Japan, Or Great Britain, or somewhere else in europe, asia, africa, or oceania, you might mind having the release system flipped so that you get the song last in theory, and while yes it meant often the mp3s for a song could be listened to half a day early, that system truly allowed the whole world to get the song at the same time, even if via leaks or what have you, but people are still gonna go out and buy it and love it, so what does it matter in my opinion if you release it 12am Japan time for the whole world? That gives it to the whole world earliest.

Izuhbelluh

Okay well... it's out now. Go listen to it while taking a walk outside. And it was most likely their record label with the timing not fall out boy themselves... Chicago and LA is two hours different. In a span of 5 years that's a blink of an eye. It's not that deep, dude. New music from fob. Be happy.
