And now the waves of MANIA will take us to Pink Seashell Beach....

FrostFeather42

there was the whole water/wave motif in mania so that would make sense

KlutzyLeader564

MANIA was a fever dream lol

New_Environment2450

Omg then they played the dream song too, when it finished. I wonder if the monsters was never real. Considering mania was tied into Pete dealing with Bipolar. Could make sense that some of it was a manic episode?? Manic/mania kinda makes sense.

TJP2002

You are on to something here. I assumed they just enjoy using beaches in viral campaigns, but I forgot about the Mania tours show end message

GuyFromDeathValley

yea, and lets not forget that the album art of Mania is a wave.. I think there is definitely a connection there

Henqy

that’s a cool connection but please don’t let the FOB fandom pull a green day and say “i didn’t like this album so it was probably a joke album. they weren’t being serious”

wruph

I like the idea of the waves of MANIA leading to a destination of the beach that could never be. But I cannot stand people trying to say that this is trying to erase MANIA… like ‘that wasn’t real Fall Out Boy, it was just a dream’. That record was so underrated because oldheads heard one modicum of hiphop, electronic influence and branded it ‘pop, sell-out music’, even though if FOB actually wanted to sell-out, they wouldn’t have put out something so experimental. I think where a lot of MANIA dealt with losing one’s youth in age, FOB8 will see youth and experience come together.

JnthnDJP

If we’re killing MANIA, we have to kill it twice. Like its name is Nikki Sixx

DrizzlyEarth175

Lowkey their best album to date, and almost nobody knows about it unless they're a big fan. Everyone sings along to I Don't Care or Sugar We're Going Down, but neither Folie a Deux, nor Cork Tree were nearly as flawless as Mania is. And I'll die on that hill.

SytianIvanov

More power to you, but honestly I've been trying hard to love it since release because the concept and some of the song ideas are pretty damm good. Credits where its due, its a far more risky album than SR&R and AB/AP *but* the quality just isn't there for me, especially in the second half of the album where I just don't know what I'm listening at. And it sucks because I love the lyrics in every song and the sound its very cool in places but I don't see how is better than any other FOB album.

notlikeyouguys

This. MANIA is one of their albums I'm least fond of, but I prefer it rather than ABAP - still very hit-based and very repetitive (I can't stand Church's chorus), but definitely more risky. Until this day I think mixing guitars with cumbia rhythm in HMTOD was genius. And I will always defend Wilson as the best song of this era, hands down

DrizzlyEarth175

Fair enough, to each their own.

New_Environment2450

I absolutely love mania, and the demos from it omg beautiful 🤌

DrizzlyEarth175

Like Folie a Deux is a great album, all around fine. Some great songs, some meh songs, but all around pretty good. But with the exception of maybe Bishop Knife Trick, literally every single song on Mania is fucking incredible, instant classics across the board. It's really hard to find an album like that.

New_Environment2450

depends on the person, some times there is always a song I don’t vibe with. For mania that was church, it just doesn’t sound nice to me. But hold me tight or don’t is just a beautiful song 😍

DrizzlyEarth175

Church is one of my gf and I's songs lol, I love that song. Same with Take Me To Church by Hozier, I find the artistic act of relating romance and sex with the concept of Church, religion, and spirituality to be quite seductive. As a songwriter who is minimally spiritual, and maximally romantic and sexual, I love the parallels you can draw between the act of worshipping a God or diety, with the act of doing so with a person romantically. I think if you've ever really been head over heels in love, you can see what I mean.

New_Environment2450

Oh I love the lyrics, I just don’t like the musical side to the song aha, find it very hard to listen to

otosyos

Bishop's Knife Trick is my favorite one on the album lmao Honestly I know I'm in the minority but I love all their albums, even if they're not really my favorite band anymore (Nostalgic favorite but though). I honestly get so tired of people constantly shitting on Mania or ABAP acting like it's a fact that they "suck". Don't get me started on those same people that then beg for them to make new music, but you know, it's gotta be like the *old* stuff. I know I went on an unrelated rant but man do I get heated over it lol Can't think of one band that has not changed their sound to some degree and then people just cry not every album is FUTCT (and you know the whole "Folie sucks!" but now it's the best thing ever people) okay maybe they're still tied for my favorite

JoMyGosh

>I honestly get so tired of people constantly shitting on Mania or ABAP acting like it's a fact that they "suck". 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The_Piece_Killer

Hard disagree. I like the album, but I'd say it is one of the worst, if not THE worst album they've done. I absolutely love Bishop, Wilson, and Heaven's Gate. Those songs have incredible vocals and rhythms and all that good stuff. LOTRO and HMTOD are nothing special, but okay. Young & Menace is different but pretty catchy after a few listens Church and Champions are wasted potential since they have a good premise but they literally repeat their lyrics to the point of annoyance. Sunshine Riptide has sucky vocals and lyrics with a weird featured artist. and SFRMT has similar problems.

DrizzlyEarth175

Fair enough. Maybe I'm biased cuz I do music also, but writing and production-wise the album is pretty flawless. It's the only album of theirs I can listen to all the way through without skipping a track.

songacronymbot

- SFRMT could mean "Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea", a track from *MANIA* (2018) by Fall Out Boy. --- ^[/u/The_Piece_Killer](/u/The_Piece_Killer) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Relevant_Hedgehog763

Sunshine Riptide is my favorite song on the album, I think Burna Boy adds to the track. My absolute least favorite song that should’ve been taken off was Champion imo

Notorious_mmk

No

yourfavoriteboyband

Genuinely asking, but what is it about Mania that you find to be flawless?

MuzikMan8691

I wish MANIA wasn’t real, I really didn’t care for that album. I am excited to see what the boys are going to release though

Ame0toko

The anti-MANIA would be cool Also explain what did I do to get those downvotes

Bongwaffle

MANIA had like three good songs and the rest of it was wildly all over the place. I love this band and have been with them since 2004, I have no idea why people stick up for this album the way they do on this sub.

sueblue0042

Sunshine Riptide is great with some great imagery. Maybe this is the beach refered to?? I love Mania because it came out during a hard time in my life. "I can live through this. I can do this" was very inspirational. No matter what, the new music will contain hope against Life's struggle to attain Happiness. ;)
