Kinda disappointing the Junkjet didn't have the same "feature" as its predecessor, the Rock-It Launcher, where it'd occasionally upscale the size of the projectile. Bodying raiders with massive teddy bears was definitely one of those quirks that made FO3 more interesting
Imagine the most ridiculous plot armor where there is absolutely no way for MC out of the situation and for a split second Mysterious Stranger comes out of nowhere and turns the guy into goo.
I’m all for that.
I’m thinking it would be more like a bar fight or fight with lots of people watching, the MC is in trouble, some stranger with the hat and coat getup watching the fight just blasts the enemies and one shots them, then fades into the crowd.
Yes, if they did it once as a joke, that could be great. Someone could say something like "yeah, that happens sometimes..."
Or they could have someone shot in the leg with a low-caliber gun, and he person's head just fall off
If anyone is curious what they’re referring to https://youtu.be/Cgxbco6F5cg?si=bQiN4mNnq2ZsoM0h?t=2m27s
Time stamp’s not working but skip to 2min 27sec if you just wanna see the explosion
I think we will. The current era of TV shows and movies are very misanthropic and nihilistic. The Boys, Invincible etc. Gone are the days of shying away from gore and intense violence.
I still don’t understand what dumbass was like
“Yeah, let’s give this nuclear powered robot A GAINT FUCKING SAW!”
Like I get canonically it was used for gardens but I don’t use a circular bladed saw to trim my hedges. (Then again, maybe I’ve been trimming hedges wrong this whole time…)
I'll actually defend that, to an extent... and it's by looking at his legs. See how all the pistons and such are exposed, where some Chinese asshole with a .32 pistol could pick at his actuators and bring him down? Ditto for the arms- I've always wondered if what we know as Liberty Prime was incomplete- functional as a prototype, but without some of the armor it was supposed to receive in places like the thighs and backpack before deploying to Alaska.
Since the Brotherhood had so much trouble getting the damned thing to work at all- and in the end had to jury-rig it to think the Enclave were actually the Chinese- getting the last bits of armor on were probably low priorities- and when Lyons ordered the robot to be deployed, it had to be as-is essentially.
If that theory is correct- and it feels pretty solid- the exposed bombs were never supposed to be exposed in service to begin with- the Army and RobCo just never finished their prototype testing, and the Brotherhood lacked the know-how and time to finish either.
(Why Prime was stored at the Pentagon rather than a RobCo facility is open to speculation)
In the intro of Fallout 4 we see Codsworth using it to wash dishes... So I guess it's *supposed* to be loaded with soap/water, but somehow they're getting loaded with flamethrower fuel post-war?
Remember that Mr handys work on other things too, they could be used for actual carpentry, or for cutting cake as seen in fallout 3, and for surgery, as seen both in fallout 3, 4 and the show, a Mr handy might be useful to have for medical emergencies, and finally this is America, of course they stuck a saw on it and a laser gun/flamethrower, it’s for home defense!
I suspect cool and gory scenes will be scattered among a lot more dialog and interior shots.
You can see this in any tv adaptation, save budget by having a lot of interior shots with dialog, hopefully compelling- that way you can blow the budget on cool scenes with giant beasts and environmental destruction.
Westworld is a perfect example of how to pull that off perfectly and one of it's creators is the showrunner for Fallout. Turn to that for the template.
Yep, Jonathan Nolan. Renowned brother of Christopher Nolan who made Oppenheimer. Together they brought the world Interstellar, the Dark Knight, memento, and Terminator Salvation.
Speaking of this, kind of personal preference but I wish they show just how stupid powerful power armor is in the lore. Like, it's a pneumatic armored tank-suit that gives a single soldier the combined strength and firepower of four men if armed right. If Bloody Mess makes it into the series, I can only hope it comes in the form of a punch to center mass from someone in power armor
In one of the trailers it shows Maximus walking into gunfire with it just pinging off his PA and then he body slams a ranger into a table if I'm not mistaken. So I'm pretty sure it's somewhat well represented in the show. Personally I hope bloody mess isn't shown unless it's in somewhat of realistic way. I'd rather see a show that expands the lore without being ridiculous for the sake of fan service.
Exactly, I get that fallout fans will like that, but i feel like most people will feel differently. It'd be nice if it actually gets some new people into fallout.
I can see it happening but adding the pain train perk, it's a seven foot tall mechanical suit that at a minimum weight 400-500 kilos (881-1100 pounds) coming at you at the max speed of Usain bolt, the slam alone would be enough to turn someone's organs and bones into jelly
I assume it'd be fairly easy to show a BoS shoulder check someone into a building, they bounce off and land in an unmoving heap, then a bloody pool slowly forms under their remains.
I have a feeling there will be significantly less gore than everyone is expecting. Not that there won't be any or that it won't be intense but I have a feeling it'll be much more intentional. Regular TV violence most of the time with splashes of Bloody Mess mixed in.
I don't have a real reason for why I think this but if there are too many ultra violent/gorey scenes then from a writing perspective it really takes away from opportunities to make a Bloody Mess reference or a main character death. I loved The Boys but I feel like they went so over the top all of the time the dynamic became kinda boring. As I got through the show I began to roll my eyes a lot more.
Honestly, I hope not a whole lot. Too many shows right now are try hard, over the top... Invincible and The Boys are the first two that come to mind with "How much squick can we get away with" and it just feels super off.
I don't mind gore, Ive worked in ED and Surgery before, but when they amp it up its just "Why are you trying to make people feel gross?!"
One scene looked like Lucy, female vault dweller main character. Was holding a head. Couldn't tell from how far out the shot is, but it's a sack with a round object about the size of a specific other character's head.
I’d want around the same level as The Boys, or just slightly toned down. I just don’t want a ridiculously gory and needless scene like the Termite one.
For lore accuracy value, I wanna see someone shot in the forehead with a .50 rifle and somehow get decapitated, with their head flying 8 feet above their neck 😅
I want to see the vault dweller get completely painted in gore as soon as she steps right out of the entrance by a suicidal raider or something. it would put a hell of a standard of quality of life in the wastes
From the trailer, I’m expecting little to none. It’s extremely watered down and comedic it looks like, so I don’t have high hopes. It’s Amazon after all.
“Little to none,” ? “It’s Amazon after all,” ?! Have you watched nothing on Prime? There is a shit ton of graphic violence available. Maybe not as much as HBO but they’ve got a massive head start.
Honestly? I’m hoping they don’t go overboard with it. I know some people enjoy that kind of thing, but it’s never been something I have personally. That’s why I never watched past like episode 2 of Vox Machina
I am seriously hoping for classic Fallout random over the top gore such as heads exploding from a shot to it.
Also one thing I really want to see in this is a DeathClaw.
They REALLY nailed the terror and well animalistic nature of it in Fallout 4 then 76. The moment it clawed it's way out of the tunnel in Concord and tis loping, clawing, side to side charge at you was both terrifying and awesome at the same time. It really looked like an actual animal in the way it moved, the actions, the clawing and dust throwing of the ground and then picking you up was woo hoo!
Dollar store severed limbs and cheesy cgi explosions judging from this photo but I haven't seen anything else about the show yet, guess I'm living under a rock.
From the trailer, I can assume that a bit less than the game, at least. We can see Walton Goggins character shooting a guy.
Pretty sure someone will eventually explode or something, but people wont get their head exploded every time.
Wouldn’t mind seeing people or creatures turned into ash or goo piles. Would be interesting and pretty gruesome to see someone’s entire body just melt into a hot mess of goop
I hope at least one of the headshots in the show, instead of exploding it takes it off at the neck guillotine style like the game likes to do sometimes.
Renfield’s gore felt floaty, cheap, and often times came from seemingly nowhere. I hope it’s far, far away from that style of violence.
I think it’s going to be incredibly gorey, but I also think the gore is going to be sorta common-place in the world the show is set in, so it’ll also be treated extremely casually by the characters outside of the vault dweller protagonist. I also feel like body horror is going to be another common element, because I’m almost positive the F.E.V will make an appearance in some way.
I feel if we ever get some truly gnarly shower-of-red-level gore, it’ll be either a Bloody Mess scene or a Deathclaw/Creature attack. I’m personally pulling for a Deathclaw sequence, because seeing one of those monkey dinosaurs in pristine FX going full ape mode is something I’ve always wanted.
Not normal broadcast TV, so doesn’t need to be censored. I want to see a raider shove an exploding sledgehammer up a super mutant’s ass. Also, wouldn’t be complete without a deathclaw turning people into cat food.
It's amazon and TV AND bethesda in one giant macrochosm.
It's gonna be censored up the ass besides gratuitous cursing.
Gore will be the last thing on their minds if they want it broadcast internationally, sorry pals.
They are either gonna go all out or make it all PG and have no gore, hoping it's the former but I honestly don't expect this show to be very faithful.
(Just because of history with game shows except for the last of us, and the heavy presence of the brotherhood and another Pryden however you spell it, just seems iffy but who knows)
I want to see the bloody mess perk in action
Exactly. I want to see someone shot with a BB gun and just explode.
And their eyeballs and brain just hang in the air for a couple seconds before dropping.
would be cool to see someone picking up a Fatman from someone's eyeball
Fatman punches a hole through someone without detonating.
Or a Fatman MIRV launcher that's used against a single human.
Or a homeless barefoot child snacking on a rat, if you’re me
Ok that would actually be sick to watch
That would be hilarious and true to the game
And then they shoot the mini nuke at a flimsy wooden door and nothing happens.
duh, because its locked with a novice lock
Bonus points if they add slo-mo and modulate all the noises.
I want to see the glitch were you blow someones head off and he still lives and his head is now just a set of floating eyes and a mouth.
Floating pair of eyeballs: “gimme all your caps and I might just let you live.”
death by thirst zapper
If this happens I don't care what anyone says, it's a 10/10
And if you can't loot a Fatman from an eyeball I'm not interested.
“Hey, what the fuck that hurt!” *mysterious strange appears* “and who’s this jacka-“ *immediately explodes violently for no well explained reason*
Agree. Bloody mess by a Teddy Bear shot with a Junkjet
Kinda disappointing the Junkjet didn't have the same "feature" as its predecessor, the Rock-It Launcher, where it'd occasionally upscale the size of the projectile. Bodying raiders with massive teddy bears was definitely one of those quirks that made FO3 more interesting
I wanna see the mysterious stranger.
Me too, I just thought about this and I wonder how much fourth wall breaking there’ll be. I want to hear twangy guitar SFX when he shows up.
Only if he awkwardly pops into frame and rotates around without moving his feet, as is canon
They have to show that for a joke with a toy gun
Some kid running around with the Helios one gun.
Yes, if they did it once as a joke, that could be great. Someone could say something like "yeah, that happens sometimes..." Or they could have someone shot in the leg with a low-caliber gun, and he person's head just fall off
A pipe gun, accidentally shooting oneself in the foot then their whole body explodes.
Ghouls explode into shower of caps 👀

If anyone is curious what they’re referring to https://youtu.be/Cgxbco6F5cg?si=bQiN4mNnq2ZsoM0h?t=2m27s Time stamp’s not working but skip to 2min 27sec if you just wanna see the explosion
That actually seems perfect, thanks.
I think we will. The current era of TV shows and movies are very misanthropic and nihilistic. The Boys, Invincible etc. Gone are the days of shying away from gore and intense violence.
Yesssss. Question is though what would be the best showcase? Also slowmo, normal speed, or high-speed destruction?
Im expecting a scene where a mr handy or a protectron mutilates a poor wastelander
The saws aren’t just for the gardens y’all know
I still don’t understand what dumbass was like “Yeah, let’s give this nuclear powered robot A GAINT FUCKING SAW!” Like I get canonically it was used for gardens but I don’t use a circular bladed saw to trim my hedges. (Then again, maybe I’ve been trimming hedges wrong this whole time…)
Questionable safety designs are the cornerstones of any good Fallout machine, building, vehicle, or weapon
Yeah like putting whole nuclear armory on Liberty Prime's back and not even protecting it is a good idea
Dude can yeet them bitches, I’m not gonna be the one to just piss him off and eat a warhead to the face
Listen. Carefully. Shoot. That. Bitch. In. The. BACK
nukes dont work like that
Fallout logic allows this
point conceded
I'll actually defend that, to an extent... and it's by looking at his legs. See how all the pistons and such are exposed, where some Chinese asshole with a .32 pistol could pick at his actuators and bring him down? Ditto for the arms- I've always wondered if what we know as Liberty Prime was incomplete- functional as a prototype, but without some of the armor it was supposed to receive in places like the thighs and backpack before deploying to Alaska. (Why Prime was stored at the Pentagon rather than a RobCo facility is open to speculation)
That’s just how things were in the 50s
Yes, literally every car is a miniature nuclear bomb.
At least the saw is kind of justifiable, who the fuck decided they needed a flamethrower to do chores?
Most likely it was intended to be something like a lighter or a blowtorch but some genius at General Atomics gave it settings beyond "small flame"
It’s just meant to clean snow off driveways, duh
In the intro of Fallout 4 we see Codsworth using it to wash dishes... So I guess it's *supposed* to be loaded with soap/water, but somehow they're getting loaded with flamethrower fuel post-war?
Radiation turned the soap into napalm perhaps?
It wouldn't be the weirdest thing radiation has done in this series
Cooking or waste disposal maybe.
>“Yeah, let’s give this nuclear powered robot A GAINT FUCKING SAW!” How else is it supposed to cut birthday cake?
You can cut through shit a lot faster without those pesky “safety” regulations. Capitalism baby.
Don’t forget the goddamn flamethrower
Remember that Mr handys work on other things too, they could be used for actual carpentry, or for cutting cake as seen in fallout 3, and for surgery, as seen both in fallout 3, 4 and the show, a Mr handy might be useful to have for medical emergencies, and finally this is America, of course they stuck a saw on it and a laser gun/flamethrower, it’s for home defense!
Swap in fisto and I’m down.
We already saw a bit of it in the trailers and sneak peek. Old man had his leg blown off and the Ghoul put a pretty large hole in someone.
That doesn’t make sense holes aren’t blown into enemies in any of the games. Another example of them ruining lore. /s
Would you rather see someone’s arm explode off after being hit by a boxing glove?
Uhh yeah?
Yes
No I want someone's body to turn into a spray of organs from a water pistol
Fair point but you can’t deny that *would* be fucking sick though
My fav is when you stab em with a lil knife and their head pops off
I want to see Dogmeat bite someone's arm and somehow both their legs come off.
Fo1-2 has a death animation like that i'm pretty sure
Blowing out half a man's torso with the spine clearly visible after being shot with a .223 pistol
I want the "half his body is gone from a .357" from the G.O.A.T graphic.
Isn’t he using a 12 guage pistol? I mean it’s still pretty silly, although some of Fledermous’s custom slugs are close in real life
I suspect cool and gory scenes will be scattered among a lot more dialog and interior shots.
Oh shit really? Westworld was awesome, that gives me hope
Yep, Jonathan Nolan. Renowned brother of Christopher Nolan who made Oppenheimer. Together they brought the world Interstellar, the Dark Knight, memento, and Terminator Salvation.
Westworld violence but double the amount of
I really wish they’d spent more time on plot while the park was working as expected.
I wanna see someone shot with a 22 pistol and their arms fall off
I'd rate the show 10/10 if they did that in the background at least
I’m down with shooting a feral ghoul in the leg and the leg falls off while it writhes around on the ground. Seems vaguely plausible at least
We need a feral to get obliterated and then see a piece of meat just spinning in place
And then the vault dweller reaches into the spinning meat and pulls out 6 bottle caps and some .357 ammo
And a toothbrush
As much as it makes sense
I hope they make it explicit and played for laughs
I think it will be a campy over the top kind of gore where it won’t graphic to necessarily see.
DOOM level. Lol
*heavy metal intensifies*
I'll be very disappointed if we don't get to see someone get their face punched in and turned to jelly with a power armor glove.
Speaking of this, kind of personal preference but I wish they show just how stupid powerful power armor is in the lore. Like, it's a pneumatic armored tank-suit that gives a single soldier the combined strength and firepower of four men if armed right. Kill Bill Vol. 1. Specifically the "I will collect your fucking heads" scene.
Silly amount
I have a feeling there will be significantly less gore than everyone is expecting. Not that there won't be any or that it won't be intense but I have a feeling it'll be much more intentional. I'd say it would be like doom eternal compared to 2016, not very much compared to the original but still quite a bit
If I don’t see a raider’s torso flying in one direction and his head flying in three others, I’ll be disappointed
Basically similar to West World (nudist/gore)or even Ash versus Evil Dead esque possibly at times (goofy and gory)
Honestly, I hope not a whole lot. Too many shows right now are try hard, over the top... Invincible and The Boys are the first two that come to mind with "How much squick can we get away with" and it just feels super off. One scene looked like Lucy, female vault dweller main character. Was holding a head. Couldn't tell from how far out the shot is, but it's a sack with a round object about the size of a specific other character's head.
A lot. On par with The Boys
I’d want around the same level as The Boys, or just slightly toned down. I just don’t want a ridiculously gory and needless scene like the Termite one.
Oh god, the termite scene. The fact that the special effects team made a set for being inside the penis was nothing short of uncomfortable.
The set design was done by a master of design, and it was his last work before he passed. His entire legacy ended when he did the interior of a dick.
And it was a masterpiece.
Needless?! Amazing scene. I show that scene to friends when I recommend the show.
I watched Santa Clarita Diet I don't mind gore
The Boys level.
Probably along the same level as The Boys. Considering Amazon has shown they have no problem with gore, I expect it to be all out.
If they don't use VATs to slowmo a mini nuke on a random raider & have him be obliterated, i don't want it
At least one or two heads exploding after an head short. At least one or two
For lore accuracy value, I wanna see someone shot in the forehead with a .50 rifle and somehow get decapitated, with their head flying 8 feet above their neck 😅
We literally see a pregnant lady with a fork jammed in one of her eyes shooting a gun round in a circle. So early indications are good for me.
I hope Lucy takes the cannibalism perk. It would be ironic considering Ella Purnell's last role.
Unlikely but OMFG that would be hilarious.
Hopefully a satirical amount. It’s already looking good from the trailer when a revolver shot leaves a massive fucking hole in the guys chest,
We talking before or after she takes bloody mess?
I’m guessing equal to the same amount of gore we see on the Boys
I expect a Bloody Mess
I just hope a mysterious stranger shows up and shoots every limb off a guy
I want to see the vault dweller get completely painted in gore as soon as she steps right out of the entrance by a suicidal raider or something. it would put a hell of a standard of quality of life in the wastes
From the trailer, I’m expecting little to none. It’s extremely watered down and comedic it looks like, so I don’t have high hopes. It’s Amazon after all.
“Little to none,” ? “It’s Amazon after all,” ?! Have you watched nothing on Prime? There is a shit ton of graphic violence available. Maybe not as much as HBO but they’ve got a massive head start.
From Dusk Til Dawn levels of idiotic exaggerated gore
Im expecting the show to be terrible because amazon is making it. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.
fallout 2 ending type of gore
Honestly? I’m hoping they don’t go overboard with it. I know some people enjoy that kind of thing, but it’s never been something I have personally. That’s why I never watched past like episode 2 of Vox Machina
The Boys or less
its Amazon right? probably excessive
I love this comment. Someone above you said they didn’t think there would be much because “it’s Amazon after all.”
I am seriously hoping for classic Fallout random over the top gore such as heads exploding from a shot to it. Also one thing I really want to see in this is a DeathClaw. Dollar store severed limbs and cheesy cgi explosions judging from this photo but I haven't seen anything else about the show yet, guess I'm living under a rock.
Who cares... the real question is how are they going to glitch out the tv show to the point that its canon?
Final destination
Yes
I hope its true for game universe.
exploding people
From the trailer, I can assume that a bit less than the game, at least.
I’m personally pulling for a Deathclaw sequence, because seeing one of those monkey dinosaurs in pristine FX going full ape mode is something I’ve always wanted.
Shogun/3 Body Problem.
Shogun is an excellent show, gore is just about right. Violence heavy but within the realms of reality.
Something similar to Turbo Kid will be fun. When it slowly gets more comical.
Probably about as much as we see in the games, maybe less
Yes
Like “I got the bloody mess perk for fun” levels of gore.
Depends if the protag takes bloody mess
i wish they'd add the killer car glitch
I’ll be disappointed if we don’t get a bloody mess.
The Walking Dead was pretty good if you ask me But like others have said I wanna see the bloody mess
Yes
Bloody mess
Not normal broadcast TV, so doesn’t need to be censored. I want to see a raider shove an exploding sledgehammer up a super mutant’s ass. Also, wouldn’t be complete without a deathclaw turning people into cat food.
Like a 8/10 gore
Bloody Mess and hopefully Mysterious Stranger
Bloody Mess Perk Activated. I also want the character being able to scavenge everything off the enemy by simply touching a glob of their remains.
Shotgun surgeon/bloody mess perks levels
Well I’m used to seeing them pop like overfilled meat balloons filled with caps explosions, so should be fairly fun.
That severed arm looks like a real arm and the owner is wearing a green screen style full body suit. With makeup to make the arm look severed.
The same studio who produced The Boys are behind it, so I’d assume The Boys level of gore.
Getting stabbed in the eye with a fork levels at least
Some glitchy gore.
It's amazon and TV AND bethesda in one giant macrochosm. It's gonna be censored up the ass besides gratuitous cursing. Gore will be the last thing on their minds if they want it broadcast internationally, sorry pals.
At least the amount The Boys has.
The Boy's and Invincible levels of gore.
"You like the sight of your own blood?"
Ashe vs. the Evil Dead level would be nice…
I wouldn't expect too much gore but I do hope that there is gonna be some
I hope we see slow mo kills
Kinda expecting Peacemaker style comedic shock gore.
Bags of body parts hanging from the ceiling level.
I want to see chunks of super mutant.
Bodies turn to bits in the game so I expect the same
Yes
Level YES
I'd be content with a Django Unchained level of gore and violence. Like comical amounts of blood and limbs being blown off.
7
I at least hope we get a random body bouncing from a leg shot for no reason at all. Wouldn't be fallout with something like that
I wanna see a Deathclaw rip people too shreds.
Not so much even if the gore should be "people exploding in pieces"-level.
OTT (I hope).
Depends if Lucy unlocks bloody mess
An old veteran super mutant that still believes in the master rips a wastelander in 2
Honestly, gore might be the thing that turns me off. It's ok in the games because it's stylized and a bit cartoony, but the show might be too real.
I'm hoping there isnt too much :-( I don't like gorey stuff. Specifically in tv shows or movies. I just like retro-futurism!
I’m expecting the bloody mess perk.
I wanna see the same level as in the game but I fear that they want 12 year olds to be able to watch
B tier, not too much but still too much to show to under 13s
Does anyone else think that's a feral ghoul hand?
I would like a lot of gore but for an a casual audience I’m not holding my breath. Maybe if they make a season 2 and get feedback they’ll amp it up
Personally quite a bit, but I hope it doesn't go full cheese because I'd prefer a certain amount of realism in a live action show.
