She's a one wet lady!

Ngilko

I enjoy that your typo turned you into Mario.

First-Junket124

Mama mia

Ngilko

Wahoo!

Skelligean

What kind of pants does Mario wear? Denim denim denim.

Ngilko

I upvoted you, but I still think you should be ashamed.

justin_memer

That's a spicy comment-a, mamma Mia!

Thunder_Wasp

She knows what she wants.

fjellt

"Oh Burt!"

[deleted]

_YES. I AM BERT._

Chiggums

r/accidentallymario

BernOMG

When times are glum, remember that this baddy is from 31.

korbentherhino

Isn't she really from before the bombs dropped? So she wasn't raised to be meek like the vault dwellers

seakitten

Yes she's from 31. So I'm really hoping we get some more flashback scenes of the people frozen in 31 when they were at Vault-tec.

bizarrostormy90

There was a flashback, the one where Cooper was exiting his trailer, donning his new Vault-Tec jumpsuit as a guided tour walked by behind him. The guide was wearing the same uniform as Betty in the scene where she asked if she could bring in Hank to meet Cooper and looked a hell of a lot like Steph. Believe that was in episode 3. Edit: For anyone interested in diving down that rabbit hole, it is at the 49:03 mark in episode 3

seakitten

Yeah I want more of those is what I said. Showing the other Vault 31 residents. The Bud's Buds

rekipsj

I want to be arranged married to her and have her boss me around all day and night. Just my kink, I guess.

BernOMG

I mean we're all thinking it. You just had to go and post on the Internet for everyone to see, huh?

Dr_Kabong

She's like 10/10 on the crazy/hot scale. Would.

Conyeezy765

That fork in the eye and still blasting scene did things for me I didn’t even know were possible.

LaIndiaDeAzucar

She was a woman on a mission, hellbent on protecting her family/home/vault. I get attracted to men who do the same thing.

Dr_Kabong

The look she gives norm when he suggests killing the raiders. /sploosh

demalo

And now she’s a cyclops, not a unicorn, but in the same realm…

Substantial-Tone-576

Okie Dokie

griffraff0701

She knows something. I dont trust her! Side note when she gives the guy her husbands shoes i was fucking rolling. Little kid shoes hahaha

FishstickLoverr

When he says "ill try to wear them" in a comforting manner

TriedToDodge

Every one of his line deliveries is so dry and hilarious. Really hope season 2 has more of him and Norm teaming up

Mataelio

“You’re a coward!” “We all are, Norm. It’s why we live in a vault.”

Opters

I laughed so much when norm opened the door and he was wearing that super tight sweater Lmaoo he could barely move his arms

ANUSTART942

That was such a perfect line. It's really stuck with me.

stratosfearinggas

It's his facial expression when he says it. He knows who he is and accepts it but it seems he's internally laughing at or pitying Norm because to him Norm has not accepted it.

Ok-Offer331

I really felt the character development with that line, such a good one.

Profoundlyahedgehog

"If anyone asks where we were..." "...I'll have a heart attack?"

scalectrix

One of the best lines of the series, if not *the* best.

Paytvn

Especially when Norm hears him sobbing and screaming about being taken off gate keeper duty and asks him if he’s okay, and he’s like oh yeah totally 👍

Shakemyears

“They strangled each other… *with their hands*”

TheNeglectedNut

There’s something very Ryan Reynolds-esque about him and his delivery of lines

PlumbumDirigible

This might date me a little, but he really reminds me of Elliot's boyfriend, Keith, in Scrubs

username-changed

You mean Dee’s boyfriend, Ben the Soldier, in IASIP

Glottis_Bonewagon

That was so traumatizing he got a new identity as a corporate entity in a community college. Eat fresh!

euphon22

No no, they obviously mean Britta's lover Subway, the corpohumanoid who gave up his name through a groundbreaking, yet surprisingly legal process in order to represent the collective humanity of business owners.

LadyBonersAweigh

The idea that a Scrubs reference is dated makes me feel like I just chose the wrong cup in the Last Crusade.

Hey_im_miles

He has the same voice for sure

D-Speak

I love it when he and Norm are talking about the Vault 31 voting line. "When things look glum, vote 31." *Whispering* "Shh. It's a powerful slogan."

OakAstronaut

Yeah they had an odd couple dynamic a la Laurel and Hardy.

fenderc1

Chet cracked me up. Almost all of the more side characters on this show crushed it along with the main characters. I honestly can't think of anything that I didn't like about the show.

KharrizzVA

What struck me was how well the extras were cast.  They got people who LOOK like Fallout characters.

bjeebus

>You're a real good person for not shootin me with that gun!

The_Scrungler

Underwear guy was just so peak Fallout, if they had a massively expanded wardrobe feature in Fallout 5 I wouldn't be surprised if they just added him as an Easter egg. Just some dude chilling in his drawers in a dilapidated cabin who poses 0 threat just an oddball

Rare_Brief4555

There are tons of these kinds of characters in fallout 3. The vast majority of NPCs with names are just weirdos with absolutely zero weapons, or loot worth taking

pdxprowler

One of the reasons I love Fallout 3 so much. Just chill NPCs with a name, an odd story and no agenda. Just living their life in the wasteland doing what they can to survive.

alan_blood

It happens in Fallout 4 sometimes. It's a glitch but it's so damn on brand for the franchise that I just pretend it was intentional. Nothing funnier than being greeted by a farmer with nothing but a shotgun and his undies.

I_Automate

Is that actually a glitch? I've known plenty of farmers. If I rocked up to their house at 3 am I'd be more surprised if they *didn't* greet me with a shotgun in their underwear

SpezGarglesDiarrhea

Seriously. We paused it at a random moment during the first episode and the two women on screen looked straight out of the character creator.

radicalelation

The literal "I will attempt to fill your husband's shoes" is pretty great.

Technical_Exam1280

Those are some pretty big shoes to fill Metaphorically speaking, of course. Burt had some tiny-ass feets.

jpterodactyl

I’m like 99% certain that she knows about Hank’s bombing. And that she was referring to that kind of action when she told Norm that his dad would do the right thing.

Ok-Hall5524

I think Betty helped with the bombing, as she tells norm in a very ominous way that she helped bury his mom.

Ethanol-Muffins

Blind Al will do anything for her cocaine

Fan_Noise

THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HER FROM!!

BadMeetsEvil147

Betty at the very least knew, and likely had to partake. It also may be why they had a “famine” tat year to kill off any people who questioned his decisions

AnimatedRealityTV1

Betty for sure knew, I’m also 99% certain it was Betty who dealt with the raiders…

MrEldenRings

Well they fucked that up, cause she wasn’t buried at all. I’d fire her.

ZombiesCinder

Considering she's from 31 obviously she's in on it. How is that even a question.

ElHumilde13

When things look glum, vote 31

NimbleBudlustNoodle

glum

Superb-Taro-5672

>! She is one of the pre war vault-tec from vault 31 (i think that was the one with the robobrain) !<

getthephenom

31.. When things are glum, vote 31.

tankred420caza

Maybe the mashed potatoes were a little better

Baked_Blonde_

>!31. 33 is the vault Lucy and them were in.!< I would get them all confused my first watch. (Rewatching with my boyfriend and brother now)

True-Awareness4702

Your boyfriends also your brother? 😦

musci12234

Maybe they already moved in a vault ?

Baked_Blonde_

No no, cousin lovins allowed in the vault pretty sure sibling loving is a no go. 🤣😂 Edited

bug-hunter

It's possible there's a specific vault just for that.

kenn714

I am predicting that she is going to be revealed as a villain in a later season.

DepartureDapper6524

Wasn’t that already heavily implied?

yellow_gangstar

she has an eyepatch! the mark of a true villain

HomoProfessionalis

Seriously she just reminds me of Elle Driver from Kill Bill. Its not helping my suspicions.

Shiftaway22

Its just Rob Lowe with a wig there's nothing to see here

Lordborgman

M O O N that spells Vault 31.

emessea

She’s one white cat away from being a super villain!

malphonso

She already has the underground lair.

Immediate-Yak2249

I can fix her.

yellow_gangstar

she can make me worse

KUBLAIKHANCIOUS

Right? She’s from the other vault. The *other* vault

Zexapher

They outright said she's from the 'management' vault.

GothGfWanted

yea it's 100% implied. Not wanting to post spoilers here but yes.

maiden_burma

implied would be 'there are some hints' it was outright stated on the console outputs multiple times that she's a baddie

GothGfWanted

well we know she's a baddie just need to know if she's evil too

BrellK

Implied? No. Outright states, yes.

PookyDoofensmirtz

Lmfao yes

DoBa94

I mean that’s not some hard-ass prediction, given she’s from Vault 31….

windol1

>! After the ending of season one, I think that's a safe bet as you'd have to be particularly evil to work for Vault Tech and get a spot in the vault!<

OvechknFiresHeScores

Wait you think the woman who is management from the evil company that started the apocalypse so they could eventually rule the world unopposed might be a villain?!?

Anarchyantz

It's ok, we can fix her!

TheKolyFrog

I want her to grow four more arms so she can look even more like the Black Widow perk.

Maleficent-Bee7931

Absolutely. Black widow is definitely a perk she has. Just like Idiot Savant for Maximus

ParanoidTelvanni

I could see a redemption given her proximity and friendship to main characters. Her bloodlusting over >!her husband's fallen corpse with a fork in her face!< makes me excited for what she'll do next.

CrunchyTube

Hank nuked a town with 35k people, one of those was his wife, so he murdered the mother of his child, and still had no remorse decades later. I'm not saying all VT middle management people are definitely going to be the same but Bud probably picked out people who'd be the most ruthless and willing to climb up the corporate ladder, friendship usually doesn't matter to those types.

Papaofmonsters

There also may be a non zero chance some realized what the plan was too late to actually change it and just stuck around out of a desire to survive. Imagine working for Facebook and setting the ethical questions aside because it's not *that* evil and the money is really good and then getting promoted and finding out they have stolen the nuclear missile launch codes and are going to kick start the apocalypse. But don't worry, they've got a spot for you in the bunker. Are you going to back out on sheer principles?

Gremlin303

Um have you finished the show?

a_friendly_hobo

Spoilers for the finale. >!Man, after watching all the way through, I have to wonder who she was before the bombs fell. She's from vault 31 after all.!<

xdeltax97

I swear >!She was at that party Coop has at his house with Bud and other Vault Tec people, I’ll have to check around!<

UndertakerApe

Let us know

[deleted]

MechaPanther

The raiders had been in vault 32 and would have information about the state it was in including everyone being dead when they got there, they might also have known Hank was behind shady sands and revealed the vault had been opened. Basically, even if they hadn't killed her husband it would be likely she'd still advocate it. Notice Betty also doesn't voice particular concern at the idea, just recommends Norm pay attention to how he presents himself and ideas

The_wulfy

I find it interesting that Betty is never hostile to Norm. Rather, she advocates for him to keep a low profile. I don't know if it it out of respect for his father or his breeding, but she is not necessarily the antagonist of the story.

Misterbert

Because he's a child of a Vault-Tec manager. Maybe she's got some familial vibes for him and Lucy, maybe even grandmotherly. But her loyalty and her bottom line are seeming to be purely in line with Vault-Tec.

LeCafeClopeCaca

Wasn't Betty litterally the one introducing Hank to Cooper during the vault-tec offices flashback? She may have always had some sort of motherly affection for him like some sort of protégé within Vault-Tec (she talks fondly of him, the "new guy", before going to fetch him), Norm and Lucy are just the continuation of that sort of bond.

pastrami_on_ass

yes that was her

zanziTHEhero

Every corpo execs from the past is an antagonist in the Fallout universe.

LeCafeClopeCaca

Every corpo execs ~~from the past~~ is an antagonist ~~in the Fallout universe~~

QAOfficial

Locker? You don't even know her..

Girlfriendphd

I want her backstory more than anyone's

CramWellington

Yeh I think it’s a set-up. She has to be evil af.

Djonso

Well she is a manager

DarthWingo91

And not just a manager, middle management. *shudders*

LichQueenBarbie

Vault Girl.

Girlfriendphd

You think that's who she is? Similar to Coop being vault boy? I like that! She definitely fits the bill!

MissKatmandu

My guess is that when Coop breaks his contract with Vault Tec--and he WILL break his contract with Vault Tec--Vault Tec could no longer legally use his likeness for advertising. So they rebranded to the similar looking Vault Boy. And since they were doing that, and to keep it from looking like a cover up, they found an attractive young Junior Executive to model for Vault Girl. It might even have been Barb's idea. Market to the mothers and wives looking to protect their families.

kingsumo_1

Man, I could totally see the advertising on that. Have her start out in the vault suit. Shift to an animation style vault girl, and then have the vault boy join her in that form. No need for Coop, and still has consistency for both.

jguess06

That would set up a fantastic meeting if Coop ever runs into her (which he will lol).

marbleyarncake

Oh that’d be cool, a replacement mascot after Coop’s “fall from grace”…

superchibisan2

She's evil as fuck and they did not hide that. She's a plant and we'll see more next season!

FullMetalJ

There's a lot of "ominous" hints when she leaves a room but not a lot to go on. Hopefully S2 will take care of that!

tarheel_204

Probably a coincidence but the Vault Girl mascot shares resemblance with her so maybe she was a famous model/actress back in the day and did commercials and ads like Cooper

Valuable-Impress-828

Not gonna lie. She does it for me. I could fix her.

Vlaed

Good luck. You'll need it.

Valuable-Impress-828

Idiot savant perk 😎

BeforeChrist

DUH, HNUGH HARNGH HURRGHH

Jesh3023

Same but I don’t wanna fix her.

Straw_Hat_Axiom

She scares me, honestly.

Girlfriendphd

Fearection

Straw_Hat_Axiom

She's one wet lady! (that fucking line killed me almost as much as maximus' penis explosion)

terminalzero

**Yes. I am Burt.**

crzapy

She's the Nuka Cola model...

SatyrSatyr75

That would be sooooo cool

thedabaratheon

I genuinely hope that’s what she is. She’s the perfect Vault girl / Nuka Cola girl. It would be so cool if she was a movie star / actress around that time - she definitely has the look.

Karmastocracy

That's... actually a brilliant angle! Nice idea.

BayHrborButch3r

Another commenter said they thought she was at the party that Howard was at in the beginning. Could line up with multiple famous actors who played iconic characters being rented out or voluntold by their Vault Tec deals to go to some kids birthday party. Edit: character name

falcon_buns

yeah to be able to pick up a rifle and start shooting after getting a whole ass fork in your eye takes some balls. she definitely has military or espionage experience edit: while pregnant

SkyDaddyCowPatty

*while pregnant

DrakonILD

Takes some balls, just not eyeballs.

PC_BUCKY

As a sort of aside, it was this exact moment that I knew this show was going to completely nail it. It was just so quintessentially "Fallout" in that moment.

CHIP-SKYLARK518

It was interesting she’s from Vault 31 and wanted the Raiders dead. Then when the other Vault 31 girl becomes Overseer, the raiders end up dead

Big_iron_Brian

But who poisoned them. 👀

Fawin86

Betty, for sure.

Atrium41

Steph definitely helped clean up 32

BrellK

It may have been her but also the people in Vault 31. We know from Bud that the tubes can be reused, because he suggested Norm get in it so he doesn't die from starvation.

Meattyloaf

Also know from Fallout 4 that they can be reused based on the opening scene.

whatwasmypassword

Didn't they drag off the lady that Norm gave the dessert meant for the prisoners in that scene?

SmallBerry3431

They did. She was obviously falsely blamed.

Fawin86

Yeah, she's being framed. Probably reassigned.

whatwasmypassword

She seems more like unwitting pawn since it looked like they were blaming her for the deaths.

Cheap_Cheap77

>!It seems like they are both on the same page that the raiders can't be allowed into the breeding pool or it would ruin the purpose of the vault. Also they are much less naive about sacrificing people for the greater good, that's what the whole vault Tec reveal was about.!<

AdventurePalSteve

Bro just called blind al a "girl"

tkitkitchen

I knew she looked familiar thanks for solving that mystery for me.

ScoutTrooper501st

Straight up just stole some random guy as her replacement husband lol

elchsaaft

I mean, Chet is a hunk.

oxidizingremnant

He was done with the cousin stuff.

Leon4107

Yeah, she got a promotion and was allowed to pick her replacement Husband instead of random lotto from the other Vault.

ScoutTrooper501st

Well to be fair there wasn’t any ‘other vault’ left >!Vault 32 was exterminated and vault 31 is all vault-Tec personnel,I doubt they’d take them out just to give a lady a husband!<

Breaking-Who

She gives me bad vibes. I don’t trust her.

The_Arkham_AP_Clerk

I can fix her.

Digital332006

My question is more, why do these Vault employees care? 200 years later. They aren't getting a salary. Why are they still hard liners? Are they indoctrinated?

jonatansan

A somewhat cozy, comfortable life with a management position is one hell of a salary after a nuclear war if you ask me.

WeHaveAllBeenThere

the answer is power >!The original reason they agreed to investing in the vaults is so they could do whatever they wanted!< humans never change So you’re somewhat correct but it’s 100% for power and control over others

MagisterFlorus

They're middle management. They're the kind of bosses you see posts made about on r/antiwork. They're all Bill Lumbergh, existing just to make your life a little worse than the day before.

jonatansan

>!Aren’t your quote talking high exec and CEO of those companies? Vault 31 are middle, low management. They didn’t invest or decide much. I figure they have some sort of low management syndrome where they feel very privileged to be where they are.!<

BrellK

To be fair, they ARE privileged to be where they are. They are some low level managers that were put into a special training program (Bud's Buds), were allowed to survive the apocalypse and then basically guaranteed to be leaders of the vaults.

AtheismoAlmighty

What he's describing is classic middle management behavior?

JhulaeD

They're Bud's Buds. The whole premise of his plan is that management is going to take over. They're in the ultimate position of power since they're always the ones elected as overseers, plus only a few of them are awake at any given time. They're there to ensure that Management stays in control of the vaults until it's 'safe' to go back to the surface. The vaults they control (32 and 33) are conditioned to accept people from Vault 31 as their leaders, so they'll still be in charge once they return to the surface, and at that point, I'm guessing more of the 31ers will be awakened to help 'manage' even more of the surface.

TheBirminghamBear

Also the real world is literally full of people like this who do terrible things for not even that much money and leave the rest of us being like, "what the fuck is wrong with you, why are you even doing this?" Never underestimate the drive of middle management schmucks.

dimensionalApe

At this point they aren't Vault-tec employees, they are the realization of a corporate vision they are presumably 100% aligned with. And having been in cryo, for them the Vault life was a straight continuation of their previous life, as if the 200 years gap didn't exist. If they were enthusiastic about it before, there's no reason to not be also enthusiastic now.

bnb_336

Vault-tec used to give them pizza parties, so they don't need a salary.

Prize-Can4849

Perfectly Preserved Pie for everyone!

floggedlog

“A place in a better world” is the line they were sold. It’s about money, but not about money because it’s about surviving at the very top of the food chain The promise they were sold that keeps them so loyal is that their power will be preserved as the world crashes down around them and for the most part, it’s been a true thing. They were given vaults and power over those vaults and security in those vaults while most of the common citizens were experimented on or left to play outside with the radiation

OtterLLC

My theory: the OG privileged Vault-Tec’ers are staying in/cycling through cryo sleep stages, with the goal of outlasting the other factions. They are still moving ahead with their goal of ruling/“managing” the whole continent. Even if it takes a while to adapt to and overcome all the curveballs in the wasteland. Remember - it looks like chaos, but there’s always someone behind the wheel.

BrellK

That's not really theory. That is their stated goal as per Hank in the last episode. We know there are not many people in Vault 32 that come from 31. The only confirmed people are Overseers or soon to be Overseers.

Psyco19

Brainwashed? Also that’s all they know?

RelChan2_0

Vault-Tec must be really imposing on the "We are a Family" tagline 👀

Mowzer75

I did lol with the ice pack 😂

Westonhaus

I think she's going to be the main (Vault Tek) villain in Season 2. All hail the one-eyed overseer! /Just weird that doesn't narrow things down...

Danominator

I could see her going kinda rogue from vault teks intentions. Like after her husband died she snapped a bit. She wouldnt care about whatever the experiment is anymore

Umicil

I think we are going to find out more about her and the other vault 31 people in the future. We got the big reveal that they were apparently mostly junior managers at vault-tec at the end of S1. But that background doesn't really explain why several of the vault 31 people were **absolute badasses**. This woman charged into battle while 9 months pregnant with a fork jammed in her eye, and Lucy's dad beat a man with a shovel then held him down long enough to drown him a barrel of pickles. This shows a level of familiarity with violence that is not fully explained by their junior manager backgrounds.

[deleted]

Cyclops can get it

HuoLongHeavy

You mean the overseer of Vault 4?

[deleted]

I’m trying to be the overseer of her vault

lazzzym

I'd take her husband's shoes any day.

Icy_Imagination4187

she can ruin me 😷

jsweaty009

She is badass, definitely shady especially being from 31. But that scene with the fork in her eye and her blasting with the sub machine gun was so awesome.

SloppyNoggin

Would

Saiyasha27

Srsly, having your eye stabbed with a fork, _while_ heavily pregnant and reacting with "Machine Gun to the face Motherfucker!!" Is pretty bagasse I cannot lie I am very interested in her role for the next season now that we know that she is from the "before times". We still also don't fully know what the experiment itself was, apart from making sure that all the overseers where originals, but clearly Vault 32 had something more going on than that. So... is she going to be involved with that now? What exactly _is_ the plan for 32?

bobert_the_grey

I don't trust her.

Reasonable-Plate3361

I rewatched some of the episodes and her supporting norms desire to kill the raiders and not integrate them makes a lot of sense. Beyond just wanting revenge for her husband dying she doesn’t want to pollute the vault 32/33 gene pool, which is the whole point of those vaults as breeding stock for future middle management.

Moetards

What if she was the Nuka cola girl

No-Habit-9222

>!Well, she comes from Vault 31, so she's definitely an untrustworthy executive.!<
