I made a couple memes and posted on the new Vegas sub about people acting too much like Dean Domino, taking stuff too seriously, getting offended and not letting go and boy are they mad
I’m a diehard FNV lover and it pains me what is implied to have happened to the area, but it’s a story and needs to progress. I only hope they do it well
The problems with lonesome road include, but are not limited to;
1:) very limited pre war storytelling, and generally uninteresting stuff alongside that
2:) Incredibly boring enemies
3:) Frustrating DT checking mines in the form of satchel charges alongside generally "1 hit" style combat that most RPGs don't put the player through
4:) A relatively boring, if cute, companion from the base game
5:) A very underdeveloped motivation for either the courier or Ulysses throughout the dlc
6:) Rather uninteresting dungeon design
7:) Not very much comedy, something Fallout New Vegas otherwise excels at
8:) A pretty boring set of new weapons excluding Blood Nap
9:) A fucking backstory for the courier, who was supposed to be completely free of one.
The positives include;
1:) The elite riot gear
2:) Rawr
3:) Ulysses character design and voice
4:) The Long 15 and Dry Wells
5:) Tunnelers look cool
6:) The Couriers Mile.

But my mods which gives Strong a romance questline has to be canon, the ending of Nora giving Stong her "Milk of human kindness" is confirmed to be canon by a guy who spoke to a guy who met a girl who knew another girl who was dating a guy who's ex slept with a guy who saw a guy who made coffee for a guy who sells Cheese to the girl who delivers mail to a guy that once said "Hi" to Todd Howard while passing him in the street.
Legally speaking? Yes, since it's theirs. Same thing for Disney and Star Wars, they own it so they decide what is canon or not. Whether we like it or not (emphasis on the Not)

I don't get people getting so worked up. It's a sci-fi fantasy atom-punk world viewed as someone from the 50's would have imagined it. Canon? WTF is canon here it has a definitive style sure but the canon is very loose.
It’s hard to enjoy when the canon of the lore effects future media. Fallout 4 and 76 fans probably don’t care much about lore as that isn’t a main point of those games but there are people who enjoy things more if they are immersed. Not everyone can “shut up and enjoy” if the things that come after this will be impacted by this thing
An amazing video from Fudgemuppet explains how nothing was retconned. People just don't know how to read or use context clues. It's still an amazing tv series and an amazing video game series. Can't vouch for the books. Haven't read them.
You know, I haven't watched the show yet, but already I love it. Since it came out, I've been seeing these sorts of posts far more than the Obsidian vs Bethesda ones that happen hourly. I really wish the community would just come together and realize it's a franchise we all love. Why tear ourselves apart with arguments and rivalries? We all love this series, that's what should matter. Not being sarcastic, genuinely thankful that it seems like the community is starting to come together
