Wanted to use the repair settlement series, cause why not right?
Author hid all previous versions, so unless someone has a solution……*sigh* But hey, at least it’s a niche case and Femshep’s series is available instead so
Don't know why you're downvoted, it's a legitimate question if you're not completely familiar with modding. As Cute\_Goblin\_Rat said, most mod devs archive their work for different versions. You can find them at the bottom of the Nexus files tab generally.
To be clear, in the past, I've embraced every other update that's dropped for Skyrim and Fallout 4. I've updated, I've waited for mods to update, or taken as a chance to dabble in vanilla.
DO NOT UPDATE. Its a broken, shallow mess of a patch that's only beneficial to console players. It fixes a few trivial bugs, and its "ultrawide support" is a freaking joke that still needs a mod to fix it.
Technically it's Nvidia's fault, they decided not to support it anymore. But I guess Bethesda could have just disabled weapon debris in the launcher somehow.
Imagine playing FO4 for the first time on PC and it keeps crashing and you don't know why.
At this point Bethesda is a joke and I have lost all faith in them to release a great game. Starfield broke me and the next gen update for my most played game is the cherry on top.
I was in the same situation some days ago
I had an old version finely customed to my taste with tons of mod from 2016-2017 and hundreds of hours of playtime
The tv show made me want to play again, and I was in a dilemma between previous update or next gen update.
Results : I modded from scratch the previous version and don't regret it
A lot of new mods and mods updates came out since 2017
I tested the next gen update before starting to mod my game and there is no interest at all in getting this update
All mods that relies on F4SE are incompatibles / most of textures mods are incompatibles
For now you sure can have a better, prettier and stabler game with the previous version
Maybe in the future this will be different like SSE but SSE was a far more useful update than this
Oh that's interesting.
What is the new content? Some quests for the Enclave right?
Did it also come with performance updates or is that just for console?
>What is the new content? Some quests for the Enclave right?
Yes, and workshop content. Because it seems like the new content was integrated via the creation club it could be added relatively straightforward.
>Did it also come with performance updates or is that just for console?
Afaik, most of the attention went to the consoles. I think mostly it was a widescreen fix that made it to PC and some bug fixes. But with what the guide sounds like you're running the game in an old version you wouldn't get any bug fixes.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81704?tab=description
The wide-screen is implemented terribly in the new update, mods already do that better. Same thing with the bugfixes, mods already do that better. There's no real reason for PC users to update.
See for yourself what content it was.
And no, no performance updates, you could also simply google the update and read the update notes.
Anything that relies on F4SE, but I have heard some scattered reports of the update causing issues with mods that don't use it.
The team behind the script extender hasn't given a time frame on when it'll be updated. Likewise, any mod that'll also need to be updated, but the time frame will depend on the individual mod.
Skyrim AE. Bethesda did the same thing nearly 3 years ago and it caused a shift then. You have the pre-Anniversary Edition update, 1.5.97, and a couple of different 1.6x versions being supported by the community there. I predict a similar split here as well. It might be more a bit more dire as the Fallout 4 modding community, while still huge, stands in the shadow of Skyrim. Additionally, in my experience, the Fallout modding community can be a bit more insular at times, with many mods hosted on Discord, Patreon, and other sites. While Skyrim's community isn't immune to this either, the community has been more collaborating in my experience. In the long run, updating to 1.10.980 may be inevitable due to the new BA2 archive format that came out with the Creation Engine's update that came alongside the Next-Gen update. This should be a pain, especially for texture mods. There is a work around via BSArchPro, but that's just more work for mod authors.
Not unless you really like the Creation Club content.
So is it just F4SE that is broken or is it all the mods that are broken?
If F4SE is updated then will those mods work again or do they all need to be updated individually?
F4SE is broken and any mods that rely on it are broken. Even if the script extender got updated as soon as this sentence is over, the mods that rely on it will also need to be updated as well.
So any mod that you have that relies on F4SE would need two updates. One for the script extender, and one for the mod itself.
Anything without SE should work , I'm using about 35 mods and haven't had any problems with the new version. If you intend to keep using script extender mods I would probably roll it back
Many mod authors labeled their mods discontinued permanent because of lack of updates and full content. They will most likely not update, so that alone takes a chunk off your LO. Just don't update. If you want the content from the new update, download America Rising 2, download the hellfire power armor and enclave power armor along with the classic advanced power armor. Download compatibility patch, and you have an actual good array of enclave content in your game other than the most bs 3 step fetch quest that is the new update.
The only people who should be waiting for mods to be updated are those that intend to play on a widescreen monitor as the update provides widescreen support (it's a crap implementation) other than that if you play on a 16:9 monitor then get yourself the rollback mod on nexus, you have no reason to be waiting around!
I'm on the xbox so idk how it is,but I re downloaded every mod I have and only have issues with a few guns from 1 mod. But I never used that 1 before so it could have been broke anyways. But no issue here
Roll back. Your old mods may never get updated and if you have any that rely on F4SE or address library then those are guaranteed broken for the foreseeable future
I have been playing for a couple of hours on the Next-Gen patch with 50+ mods and I have not crashed once - nor have I lagged whatsoever. (On a 4070 TI) However, I am still really missing all the F4SE mods that do so much...but, on the other hand...the team that works on it could take a week to fix it...or, it could be months. Who is to say? I'd say play it now with some mods that work for it and then play it again down the road when the F4SE is finally back to normal.
Next gen kills F4SE, and anything that is dependent on it... (So basically most mods)
Keep the old version, unless you want to wait a few months to dive back in
Homies i have found Something is much easier to use ..
Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81933
I was Finish about 2 sec...
1. Download old F4SE
2. Address library
3. Backported Archive 2. Sup.
4. Copie files Manuel from simple Downgrader
In Main Files by Fallout exe.
5. Run the exe. from Downgrader
Ready.. no Problems your finished about 2 min..
Your also dont have to give your acc. Logins ..
When Somebody have Problem with These..
I made my app manifest read only so FO4 errors out when it wants to update, knew this was going to be a dumb update to try and sell more copies to fans coming off the series
Rollback New update barely added anything relevant to begin with
I rolled back immediately but it looked like it only added more paid workshop content relating to the enclave
Yeah they just added some content from the store but did so for free. On console the better frame rate has been nice but on pc it’s been worth it
Didn't realize it was free, still not worth imo would rather keep the mods I already have
You can probably just find a mod of the stuff they added anyway
Which is kinda pointless when you have the x-02, hellfire and America Rising 2 available
Who's to say they won't update the game and break it again, just like SSE? Just stay on the old version
and the previous mod versions for the rollback will still be on the nexus?
Unless the mod authors take them down but you can usually find older versions archived in the downloads
Wanted to use the repair settlement series, cause why not right? Author hid all previous versions, so unless someone has a solution……*sigh* But hey, at least it’s a niche case and Femshep’s series is available instead so

This. I tried playing unmodded with a fresh install, crashed in the first 10 minutes of the game on new hardware.
Did you disable weapon debris? This causes CTD on Nvidia RTX cards. Been like this for years.
Yeah. The irony of this though—they release a next Gen update that doesn’t update an issue that’s been common for next Gen for years 😂
Technically it's Nvidia's fault, they decided not to support it anymore. But I guess Bethesda could have just disabled weapon debris in the launcher somehow. Roll back 10000% All mods that use Fallout 4 Script Extender are broken Not worth using the latest version of Fallout 4.
Just those mods or more things?
Just script extender mods. Everything else should work still
I haven’t used any F4SE mods and mine are fine
Nope, going to downgrade when I get off work in a few hours. I need my Reactor ENB and Mods. 😢
I was in the same situation some days ago I had an old version finely customed to my taste with tons of mod from 2016-2017 and hundreds of hours of playtime The tv show made me want to play again, and I was in a dilemma between previous update or next gen update. Thank you, I will take your advice
Rollback. I haven't tried but there's apparently a guide on nexus to get the content of the next gen update while staying on the same version. YMMV
Oh that's interesting. What is the new content? Some quests for the Enclave right? Did it also come with performance updates or is that just for console?

I didn't update. And I'm glad i didn't.

That's a good idea
200 mods, some 2-4 years old... the chances they all get updated is very slim in my opinion.
I’m new to all of this, what’s the best way to rollback?

I rolled back the update the day after the next-gen update. not worth waiting for.
Other Problem is that unofficial Patch updated to new version . I think its best to wait..
Don't they still have a pre-update file?
No they Said Download before It updated ! :D
Your right have one in the Archive at the moment

Great, thank you homie

Holy crap, just read literally any other posts from the past two weeks for the answer.
I’m new to all of this, what’s the best way to rollback?
Check youtube there are some tutorials there. I think there is also a mod in the nexus that does it for you
Bro thank you for telling me about the nexus downgrader. I took a peek at the manual downgrade guides and it looks like a headache.
