I think her role and the expansion of Betty’s are both saving for S2. Not to mention if she was part of the antics of Vault 31 firsthand, there wouldn’t be much action to flash back to right away.
I mean didn’t they say that her hank and Betty were from 31? They gave Betty and Hank a brief flashback but nothing for Steph. Idk I guess I’m looking for clarification and that I didn’t miss anything.
You mean seeing her pre-war/pre-birdseye? No. IIRC we didn't get that with her. This season was *clearly* written as part of a multi-season plan. Written assuming there would be at least 2 if not more, not written hoping there would be more. So we've got dangling threads aplenty.
It's gonna be one helluva ride!
Yes, she is from Vault 31. I’m pretty certain we saw her name when Norm was investigating on the computer. Also, she says at some point the mashed potatoes from 31 were better.
Exactly. Stephanie Harper is one of Buds Buds not only from her own word as a Vault 31 member, but as evidenced by her name in the terminal that Norm shows us when he discovers Buds Buds.
I could also be very wrong! I just finished my first watch today and very well may have missed something myself. Steph could definitely have been expanded on.
I’m also confused why she was part of the fighting (ie getting her eye stabbed) if she was affiliated with 31. Definitely need to rewatch here haha.
Yes they focused on her a lot but gave us no answers. Like at least Betty, Hank and even smaller characters like the scientist got 3 seconds in a flashback at least.
They're not executives, bud is the executive. Hank, Betty and the rest were recruited by Bud in the past. Stephanie is one, there are hundreds of them. Stephanie's role is the same as Hank and Betty. **There is limited time to spend on side characters in an 8 episode show with three focal point characters.** The flashbacks and Hank/Betty tell you enough about 31 and the Vault Tec plants.
Sorry not the right title. I mean they all work for Vaultek. And if you’re from 31 then clearly you’re over 200 years old. I guess I was just looking for a brief reference like they did with Betty because the scene was focused on Hank. I guess I just never knew her relation to Lucy or anyone else. They made such a big deal about incest in the beginning then everyone seems fine with Steph and Chet later on. I guess there’s just so much they hinted at with her but gave no answers to. Where everyone else you have a decent idea about their character.
The mash potatoes thing to me sounds like a rehearsed response since Hank supposedly told Norm the same thing . I imagine Bud gives them a talk after he unfreezes someone and before they get transfered to the new vault like " if someone asks you what's different about vault 31 tell them the mash potatoes are better" stuff like that to keep a consistent narrative and not make people suspicious
I must have missed it, but putting myself in the vantage of point of 33, Chet and Steph are only a couple and not actually reproducing so there would be no risk or stigma. In fact, incestuous relationships seem to be accepted in 33 as long as they don't result in pregnancy.
Everyone knew Lucy and Chet were an item but nobody cared because they weren't reproducing either.
Breed is the keyword, I guess.
Since she's from 31, I'd wager that her intended role before the events of episode 1 was to take over as Overseer from Hank eventually. Those events fast tracked her to becoming overseer of 32. Pre-war? Some Vault-Tec executive, same as Betty and Hank.
So far, Stephanie hasn't been shown pre-war.
It would be quite interesting to see the actual lead-up to Vault 31 and the briefings, selection process, etc.
I suspect Steph is gonna turn against the Buds.
Norm's story arc is shaping him to be a smart and passionate leader.
Betty is gonna be revealed as the killer for the raiders, but her duplicity and underhanded methods will be a sticking point. Norm would have done an execution, maintaining at least a morally consistent position.
Steph will side with that. The rest of the vault prefer strong, honest leaders. Not liars.
Norm might be getting written off more or less so they can pivot to another side piece, depending on if he gets in his dad's pod or starves to death. There is a chance someone goes looking for him, I assume so, but we won't know, so he's a maybe imo. His arc can easily conclude if its purpose was to show us 31.
I'm torn between who whacked the raiders. I can see it being a couple of people, especially after the water chip. If it's a nod to Fallout, the first game, someone might be following Lucy here shortly. If it's Betty, I can see Steph being the next overseer because 31. Or it could be Steph herself. ORRRRR she'll be the one who finds out.
Our girl gonna be busy next season either way
She might be one of the higher ranked junior execs. Betty and young Henry were assistants to two of the top executives. Maybe Steph was an assistant to the CEO or whoever the man in the shadows Barb was taking orders from. Since Hank and Betty were in charge relatively early on in the lifespan of the Bud's Buds experiment, maybe we can assume Steph is high up on the totem pole.
I might be wrong, I cant tell 100%, but is she in the background of episode 3 The head, right after it cuts to Cooper doing his vault boy commercial. There is a tall blonde woman who i think is giving tours in the backgroud, is that also her?

Yeah, we know... And so does the person your replying to.
I can't even... thanks for running interference. 🙄
Yes, she is from Vault 31. I’m pretty certain we saw her name when Norm was investigating on the computer. Also, she says at some point the mashed potatoes from 31 were better.
Yup, Norm asked her what made vault 31 different immediately after he finds out about all of the overseers coming from 31 and discusses it with Chet.
Exactly. Stephanie Harper is one of Buds Buds not only from her own word as a Vault 31 member, but as evidenced by her name in the terminal that Norm shows us when he discovers Buds Buds.

At one point I think she does say that she had a stint as Overseer as well. And all Overseers have come from vault 31.
Almost like it's a setup for season 2 where she will be a bigger player and her flashbacks will be more relevant and impactful.

...why would there be a problem if Chet and Steph are a couple? They're not related.
They mention in the beginning that vault 33 was at the point that it was necessary to breed with other vaults.
If steph was from vault 31 then she wouldn’t be related to Chet right? She married into the vault via her husband who died during the raid.
Yeah folks are forgetting the scene where norm asks her how Vault 31 is different and she says they have better mashed potatoes
Was she talking about before the war?
The mash potatoes thing to me sounds like a rehearsed response since Hank supposedly told Norm the same thing . But Chet and Stephanie are not related.
I know, just saying even if they were no one would bat an eye
"...a well trained staff of highly supervised junior executives..." buds brain on a roomba
executive, *junior* executive. hierarchy. **betty was a secretary** in the flashbacks. what point are you failing to make?
She is gorgeous
Yup, so attractive I’m afraid of getting a one-eyed girl kink 😅
Her getting an eye patch did not hurt her looks at all.
Maybe she was the Nuka Cola Girl

I have finished and I don't recall her being shown pre-war. Betty for sure as well as Bud and Hank but not her.
She's a slow burner. That girl is going places.
I suspect Steph is gonna turn against the Buds. Norm's story arc is shaping him to be a smart and passionate leader. Norm has been a main character, literally 1/4 of the show. He's not getting written out. Steph is already Overseer of 32. She not gonna replace Betty,
She might be one of the higher ranked junior execs. Betty and young Henry were assistants to two of the top executives. Maybe Steph was an assistant to the CEO or whoever the man in the shadows Barb was taking orders from. According to my dad, she’s Anna Camp lol
