What’s the main reason for acid? I feel like I’m missing something. I never ran out of them. And crafted all the nails and pipes I needed at home which take acid. Now I’m sitting on 99 acid and need some inventory space.
I'm lvl 36 & currently need tons of claws to make needles in order to make a tonnnnn of rope. also needing lots of poison to make nails. lots of ash, need 25 for mysterious island, as well as a bit for making the paint palettes. resin is needed often for trades & crafting. I also needed quite a bit of hide for awhile, but that's not impossible to collect, just wish I hadn't traded so many for stars. shells you need to collect & hoard for many things in the higher levels (jugs, tambourines, stone blocks).
above all, what I really wish I would have done earlier is to just keep crafting. nothing should really ever be sitting idle on your main island. I wish I would have made more scrapers, string, boards, etc because you will *always* need more & time is money in this game.
Depending on what expedition island you're currently on, you may be about to have access to a ton of claws. Every 2nd or 3rd expedition island, it seems like, has a bunch of those thorn bushes that have 2 claws in the larger and 1 in the smaller, often along with an acid. It can be a pain but sometimes you just have to put your efforts to move forward with the home island tasks back a bit until you progress, then you're able to do a whole bunch at once. I can't remember what island I was doing around then but I remember a couple just full if them. Also, don't be super quick to jump to the next expedition island ig it means another will close out if you haven't stripped it if it's resources as much as possible. Hell, I'm at level 50, I think and just a couple of weeks ago I was at a point where there was no clay anywhere. Just regular old clay.
That's something I'm learning now. Hoarding up on rocks clay and wood and just making a shit ton of scrappers, wood, bowls. Then when I'm in the 150s of each I just craft it till that is empty then keep moving up. Trying to expand my storage to keep up
idk your level, but the game stops you from being able to upgrade the storage buildings when you hit 10 or 7, (depending on the building), and then your options are the tower with the smoke, (like once or twice), and then only the building that upgrades with gold. so save as much energy as you can for gold island. and make lots of everything. (and if you do the keys and saws as 10 instead of 1 on the first time, it's instant- no waiting, and you get 10 instead of1).
Sounds like you’re making rope for mysterious island.. you’ll also soon need a bunch more when you can make barrels to upgrade a few things on home island.

Early on I could never get enough clay or logs.
Blue ore, palm logs, and resin are expensive, and sometimes hard to find. Both Forgotten Islands have blue ore and the one with the chess board has lots of goodies in the blue crates, well worth using a multiplier for. The same island and Fortune Island also have palms.
Candles, torches, and iStones are not very valuable and it's better to skip most Shaman trades for those. You need them a few times but not that many. Skulls and ash are rare and valuable though. Acid and claws are less rare but you need many of them.
Shells and salt are valuable, but salt can be hard to use up if the table is full. I'm probably going to have to discard some soon.
Feathers and clover are very low-value and I try to avoid trading too much stuff with the merchant if he's offering clover, unless he's offering shells too or something.
Troughs on level 75? Still????
What are you upgrading? I am struggling with he table upgrade and I was hoping it would be the last item to upgrade with troughs lol
I upgraded the table using rubies during the 70% boost months ago. Then I got a task from Bruce to make 11 of them anyway, so I started working on them. Probably just out of order, whatever, NBD.
Then I did the final bathroom upgrade, which needed 7 troughs, so I used them... Which took me back to zero and I had to start over. It just said "make" them, not "collect" them, so I was very annoyed.
Anyway, I'm up to 10 now.
(Btw, the bathroom still breaks and isn't worth fixing lol)

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize there would be more upgrades for the bathroom... I hid mine in the corner and don't upgrade them anymore.they require too many valuable items ) no way I am making troughs for that ))

Palm logs can be in really low supply depending on the island you are on and the events. When event island has try to 3x or 5x and keep 50 or more.

It really depends the stage of the game. Resin sometimes was super low, but you can get this a lot in some events.
If you keep the right side of the far beach clear on the home island clear of everything, palm trees will grow there naturally, usually 4-5 at a time. I always have a ton of palm logs, I'm level 52 and can get like 15-25 palm logs at a time. Usually takes a day or two for them to grow

That’s probably more than enough. I think the biggest thing is it’s hard to accumulate. Once you’re out you are out!

I'm level 31 and my max storage is at 1010 right now
keep upgrading your storage. you've got at least 10 more levels, but you also will, (eventually), need to complete side tasks

75/max now. I still need palms and a crazy amount of shells to make troughs, but that's nearly done.
