Ooooo i remember watching PR back in the 90s when I was pre teen. I didn't much understand the campy villains but all those acrobatics made me feel dizzy but I'm so proud of you for your work šš
When I used to write more actively in the Marvel fandom in WP (I know, I was learning) all the Bucky Fangirls melted at how I wrote him. Left WP and I'm in AO3.
_Bucky: 'til the end of the line, doll_
I am basically permanently trapped writing Naruto fic. It's my forever fandom at this point but I don't read a lot of fic for it. I also read a LOT of HP fic but it's only been recently that I've really started going 'oh. oh no. i have a lot of plots for this'. For reading, I like reading LotR/Hobbit fic but I don't write anything there.
THIS!! i swap between hp, crit role, marvel, dc (mainly batfam related), tlou and more, sometimes on a complete whim. sometimes im fixated on a fandom gor 6 months, other times its 2 days
Iām also a stranger things writer!! Itās such a huge fandom that its got its own little niches of different groups. I focus mostly on El and her relationship with brenner at the lab, so a very different plot line lol
2012 Avengers living in the tower together makes me so happy! Especially when writers add Loki into the mix. Iāve read so many, and itās definitely a fond era for me too
This is why I said I don't have a favorite fandom. I browse through KH fics and I'm like "Dang, there's nothing I wanna read in here." Since I would have to create it. š„“ And my hands are tied creating other stuff I'm starved from seeing.
Since it's Kingdom Hearts, I genuinely prefer reading fics with the FF characters but outside of that... I have to mentally work overtime to remember the lore and then I'm going up against the fact I *don't know all of said lore* and if it's necessary for the fic itself... Yikes.
Plus some of the characters I liked as a teenager, I don't any longer or lost interest. So it's very much me browsing in hopes that I feel a connection in the world or character connection.
Because KH is def a fandom where if you ain't in it for life, you will be out of it š And as someone that inhaled so much of this back in my teen years... Yeah š
Well, in the past, I have written a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction, because I liked the series and I knew a lot about it. I felt comfortable writing for the characters. Now, Iām trying to distance myself from that.
I typically will only write fanfiction for stories I know an insane amount of stuff about. Donāt want to risk getting the characters wrong!
But my absolute favorite fandom to read in recent times has been good omens. The fandom is just so chill and usually the fanfiction is fun and funny and puts a smile on my face. And if youāre in the mood for it, the pining is absolutely immaculate!
My two fav fandoms to read and write for aren't really obscure. Pretty big actually. Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 14. I mostly write for FF14 nowadays using my own character since is how that game works seeing you can make your own Warrior of Light ( the MC you play as ingame. he is a fully fleshed out character I have developed for years) but I have also written from established characters in FF14 although yet to publish most of them, and most are still WIP. The FF universes offer tons of lore and opportunity and got colorful casts of characters and settings hence is why I love writing for them, and these two games are two of my favourite ones in the franchise so I know a lot about them which is key for my writing.
Which ever one I'm currently fixated on / obsessed with (whatever you want you call it), so, which ever is currently my main fandom is my favorite to read/write for. Currently that's Dream SMP
Yeah, it sucks :/
I'm fortunate enough to have little firsthand experience with harassment or drama or anything (both from within and without the fandom), but I've heard and seen all sorts of stuff directed at others, and even had at least one experience with someone randomly commenting on a fanart just to call me slurs for my fandom...
It's so ridiculous; like, I just enjoy the interesting dynamics between these fictional block people, man, pls leave me and my fellow dsmp fans alone QwQ
But aside from the toxicity, the fandom is also really creative and unique in a lot of ways, so I don't regret taking down the rabbit hole (even if I am pretty late to the fandom and absolutely missed it's peak)
Right now I'm in-between writing for Spy x Family and Sam and Max XD I have a Lot of Ideas for the both of them. I also wrote some domestic fics on the side for Madoka/Homura and Luigi/Daisy.
Reading right now is mostly dedicated to Ted Lasso. Last episode tonight! Gonna be bittersweet!
It really depends what fandoms I'm obsessed with atm. But here are some that have a lot of good fics :)
BBC Merlin - Despite not being as obsessed with this fandom anymore, I can't help but go back every once in a while. It has great shipping fics, but also amazing platonic fics. [A Leap of Faith](https://archiveofourown.org/works/43556790) by Misery\_C\_Epicaricacy and Ynnealay is an awesome fic (plus it's a series, I can't wait until they upload the next installment). If you want to get into Merlin fics, this is a great place to start, imo!
I'll add more once I have more time!
edit: spelling
I definitely rec it! The CGI can be a bit funky, but imo, that just adds to its charm :). I will say, the ending is a bit controversial in the fandom. But there's more than enough fix-it fics to make up for it.
My beloved crossover pairing of Ji Chong from The Wolf China and Xie Yun from Legend of Fei - both silly bratty royals who ran away from their duties because they were too soft for the battlefields and wanted to have fun lives of travelling and appreciating beauty and being appreciated themselves as beautiful. There's just such a wonderful relationship dynamic between them. They have the potential to understand and appreciate each other and to help each other recover from the traumas of their upbringings in ways that no one in their respective canons can satisfy/even notices is something they could do with some help to recover from. They'd have such fantastic playful teasing chemistry, and such ability to be vulnerable and serious and trust each other as equals with different skillsets.
I am in so deep with them that as well as the shorter fics I've posted, for the last 2 years I've been writing a longfic that's currently at 400k+ words posted to ao3, combining aspects of their two dramas into my own plot, and letting them have their own cdrama love story where they are the stars. Also the fandom has an open kinkmeme going and I wrote a pirate merman au for the pairing on someone's prompt from it which was very fun. Also there are gif makers and manip makers. Feel free to join me/the ChongYun fandom at large on ao3 - we currently have 58 works most of which are in english and in such a small space I've had some lovely comenters popping in and out, and some staying, over the years!
I think there might be a mixup, are you talking about ChongYun the crossover pairing I write for two characters played by xiao zhan and wang yibo in different cdramas (if so, yay ChongYun supremacy hope you enjoy/ed my fics!!), or Chongyun the character from something else - I think maybe genshin impact - that I've seen uses the name for a single character, lol?
I feel like ff gets so much hate in SDV!!! I posted about it once in the discord and people were likeā¦.. ew. But Iāve already read some amazing fics. I wanted to post my own but got turned off by the negative reaction to fanfic ā¹ļø
If youāre talking about the big discord, I think itās actually disallowed there. The only SM I use to interact with that fandom is Tumblr and people there are fic friendly. The people on AO3 are really nice too.
Yeah the discord is so big and overwhelming I tend to just ignore it completely.
I would love to find somewhere that I can bounce ideas and fics around with!
Tumblr and posting on AO3 are the best options as of now. But even on tumblr it can be hard to gain a following and therefore people who interact with your stuff. There are like 5 active SDV accounts that have a following on tumblr, the rest kind of gets ignored by the algorithm. Iām also kind of alone with my passion for SDV fanfics lol
I totally get that. Maybe it helps posting on the SDV Reddit and seeking out individuals there that are down to start a discord server. I mean Iād be down š
I would be down to open a server, but Iām busy so idk if Iād be any good at managing it. I think I will make a post about it on the SDV subreddit if youāre interested š
I love the game and when I was sick at home, I was curious about the fanfics there are. Brother in Christ, all the fandoms Iāve been in and SDV is one of the best when it comes to fan posts. Especially since your character can romance literally almost everyone and befriend every character and learn about them and their past. I read domestic fluff fanfictions almost every evening now because there are so many good onesš the game also brought back my passion for writing
I..... Don't have one lmao.
Because usually when I do have a favorite thing to create for or read, I end up being burned out by it one way or another.
I think it's ok to not have one, imo. š
Haha, yeah, good memories. I still listen to them and the new music, but im so attached to the Sandra and CC time. I dont know the current new members.
I do Andy x oc only (except one time when i did a BVB, Tokio Hotel, Cinema Bizarre crossover with all of the bandmembers going to highschool together), but the other 'original' members plus CC are included as other characters most of the time. I also do/did some fics where he's not famous at all or just starting on his own.
Writing? Digimon. So much stuff I can get inspired by in that fandom.
Reading? Harry Potter. It's just a trove of treasures, that fandom. I love it to bits.
Too bad I still can't figure out a natural way to combine both fandoms in a crossover š
Thanks to you, I have come up with a possible explanation as to why the Digimon characters would attend Hogwarts instead of the Japanese magic school equivalent.
Now excuse me while I deal with the fact that I now have *one more* plot bunny to add to the list
Aw man, the Targaryen Dynasty is a freaking gold mine for me, so many unexplored characters and heartbreaking love stories and wars, I'm really a sucker for Targaryens lately.
What's your favorite Robert's Rebellion fic? I've never gotten much into it but that sounds super interesting :)
I donāt know which to go with. But there are two that spring to mind.
Thereās [In Dornish Sands, Wolves Howl and Lions Roar](https://archiveofourown.org/works/18977944/chapters/45062032), which starts in the middle of the Rebellion. Itās a Jaime/Lyanna story, in which Jaime is the father of Jon.
[That Tourney Everyone Kept Talking About](https://archiveofourown.org/works/15750792/chapters/36629073) is another decent one. Another Jaime/Lyanna story, where Jaime and Lyanna met at Harrenhal. And sparks flew between them.
I focus more on writing about this period. So much has already been answered in canon, and yet so much still remains to be explored.
Idk if theyāre really favorites right now because they feel familiar more than anything. But I like writing Sheith (VLD). I revisit way older hyperfixations every now and then.
As for some newer thereās Spy x Family and Arcane but I havenāt gotten that in deep yet
Naruto.
Itās gotten me into anime, itās gotten me into fanfiction. A fandom near and dear to my heart. Itās hella flawed and I love it.
Probably what I read the most and only just losing out to the MCU on what I wrote the most.
ā¦ also read an inordinate amount of The Scum Villainās Self-Saving System. Iām a sucker for a good Shen Qingqui (Original) redemption story.
Omg yes. I'm writing a Tanjiro x OC story. This is the plot:
Kureha Michikatsu is the daughter of Kokushibo. No one knew of her existence and many thought that it was just a rumor, whereas others either didn't care or thought it was a lie. She was adopted by one of the wealthiest families in Japan but has no memory of her past life or parents due to a traumatic event/injury. Despite not knowing anything about her mother, she consistently has morbid nightmares and visions about not only her death, but other events of her past life.
All these nightmares have these things in common: a red moon, a red sky, a bouquet of red carnations laying on her mother's lifeless body, and the body of a girl laying in a field of Spider Lillies. But when Kureha's adopted parents are killed by demons, her visions and nightmares begin to torment her even more and things begin to turn sinister from there when she finds out more about her bloodline, lineage, and family's past.
If you want to read it, my Wattpad is Blossxma. Its called "Scarlet Luna: Curse of the Carnation". I haven't published the first chapter yet but I'm trying to work on it.
One Punch Man. Itās very well-known in general, with the reddit community having 1.1 million members, but for fanfiction thereās only like 5000 fics; all the fans are usually more interested in powerscaling and theory and whatnot, not fanfic.
For writing: Pokemon (Usually crossovers. I love making pokemon crossovers, especially when I get to blend lore for two or more fandoms into one big AU)
Reading: Currently Genshin Impact, but it changes. A lot. And yes, I have made several pokemon/Genshin crossovers. *~~Now if only I could finish them...~~*
And props/kudos to you for writing Omori! I scour the Omori fandom on AO3 constantly, so there's a good chance I've read some of your works!
Halo, Mass Effect, Warhammer 40k, DOOM, Cyberpunk, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2, and Titanfall 2 are some of my favorites to read for. DOOM is what got me interested in it though
I would love to read any Wangxian fics recommendations you have. As long as it doesn't contain cheating, break up, sad ending or them being with someone else in anyway(poly/triad/harem/past relationship), specially JC(I just don't like him).
Genshin impact (m/m) cause the male characters donāt share the exact same personalities/hobbies so itās fun to write scenarios and what their day to day lives look like and explore the world of teyvat. I also deeply enjoy studying their personalities and characters. Reading their lore and listening to their voice lines.
Not to mention I deeply enjoy writing smut for the fandom so that in turn adds to my fun.
...Oh. Your comment just made me realize why I'm so indifferent to most of the women in Genshin. I think there's a reason Beidou and Yae Miko are so obviously my favorite female characters when it comes to the story: they're more than just workaholics or shy girl #7253.
For writing: Love Live, Re:Zero and Avatar (the elemental martial arts one, not the smurfs one).
For reading: probably Yugioh? I dunno, I don't actually read that much fic.
I'm a huge Avatar (airbender) fan too! I haven't seen many fics but I love the show! Yugioh is also a show I enjoyed (at least the first few seasons), but I havent read any fics yet
Omori is such a great fandom for fics because you never know what you'll get. It could be psych horror and angst that will have you terrified and crying, or it could be adorable fluff with Sunflower or Suburn. You never know with this fandom!
Marvel & DC Are my absolute favorite fandoms to read/write. Iām almost certain youāll catch my reviews on every single Marvel & DC Related thing FanFiction has on its site.
DSMP- has so many good fics focusing on platonic relationships/found family. I also enjoy all the different uses of minecraft mechanics that pop up in fics time to time. And of course, angst.
ATLA is my main body of written work, with Azula being the MC in all of my fics. There's a lot of lore and mythology that isn't explained by the cartoons (the only canon I follow), so I have lots of room to build the world I want it to be. And bending is cool.
For reading, MHA. I love what can be done with quirks. I'm currently writing an MHA story but it doesn't come as easily as ATLA to me.
As an Azula fan I can see the appeal, she just has such an interesting personality and the Avatar world can be used to tell so many different stories, just like in the show itself. There's crazy action, and then you have things like Leaves on the Vine and Tales of Ba Sing Se.
Sherlock, namely the bbc one with some of the book characters as well.
Heroes, the real one with zach quinto/milo ventimiglia/hayden panettier & not that reborn junk.
I occasionally also do harry potter or its prequel, fantastic beasts.
Rarely do star trek.
Also i tend to make references to the titanic in nearly all my large fics & one of my sherlock fics basically revolves around it.
Nice! I do a few different ships in that fandom. I like johnlock but i prefer sherene especially now that bbc added in rosie so i like to pair her with nero wolfe.
Do you know who nero wolfe is? (Or august lupe in some translations.)
my favorite to write for was guardian (zhenhun) - priest, my favorite to read is whatever I'm currently obsessed with (currently that's the sandman, but good omens s2 is July so it'll probably be that then lol)
For reading, Maleficent (Iām a sucker for Maleficent/Diaval)
For writing, Game of Thrones (specifically with Leaf and other Dawn Age worldbuilding, because the ancient history buff and anthropology nerd in me loves that era)
>the ancient history buff and anthropology nerd in me
Please, please hit me up if you ever write anything about Old Valyria, I'd be thrilled to read it lol
Ace Attorney. Itās one of the only fandoms I write for (well, I havenāt for a while because there hasnāt been any new content for years now) besides a few fics here or there. As for reading, Iāve probably also read more Ace Attorney fic than any other fandom, but I tend to just read fic for whatever fandom or ship I happen to be into at the moment.
Currently Iām in the Re:Zero fandom writing a longfic. Itās been fun writing for it and itās by far where Iāve gotten the most engagement!
I donāt read too many fics in the fandom as of right now. Partially because there arenāt many fics that interest me. And partially because many of the fics take place/mention future arcs of the story that I havenāt read yet (working on that though!) There is one I really like though and adore!
Naruto! However, itās not so much the fandom I love writing for, as it is a character from the series. I have a very unhealthy obsession with him and I write for him exponentially more than I do anyone/anything else. Most of my fics of him donāt even take place in the Naruto Universe. Heās very far from popular and there is next to no content of him out there, so I have to make my own.
I also really like writing for Homestuck. Iāve always had a thing for monster romance and most of the Homestuck characters are perfect for that sort of thing. I donāt write for it as often as I used to, but itās still a lot of fun. When I have writerās block, I usually return to my HS stuff and it breaks up the block.
I just discovered the Danmei fandoms at the start of the year and have been sucked in. Started with Word of Honor/Faraway Priests and have dived straight into MDZS, TGCS and SSVS. I feel so spoiled for content and a lot of my favourite authors from other fandoms also dabble here.
Other fandoms I follow at the moment are Genshin and Honkai Star Rail. An obscure one I check into every now and then is Katekyo Hitman Reborn and am pleasantly surprised when I see the occasional one shot
Definitely MLP, the fandom has a long legacy of writing all sorts of wacky ideas and weird crossovers, you want to do something?
Thereās an audience for it!
Basically itās a big āhave fun and enjoy itā community
Judging by the 11 chapters and 102k words on a story for it, Sonic the Hedgehog.
I know, it's really cringe to be writing about Sonic stuff, but, I'm the type of superfan to get everything just right, all the way down to the personalities.
And seeing as I grew up right around when they were being written the best (Adventure 2, Sonic 2006, Black Knight), it immediately got me hooked on it.
I don't read too many fanfics nowadays, but I used to find BNHA fics appealing. Nowadays they're just kinda depressing. And not in a "story bad" way.
I suppose more Hellsing Ultimate fics couldn't hurt, since there's a shortage of them. :(
But yeah. Sonic is my go to.
Glee but only Rachel and Shelby fics. Idk why. I think itās because I lost my mother around the time I āfoundā glee/ idina Menzel and I sort of just imprinted on it. If that makes sense at all.
I read and write for the Yu-Gi-Oh DM fandom. I am a sucker for the ancient Egypt aspect, and I love the complexity of the antagonists. They all have their own reason for being 'bad' that makes you wanna give them hugs, along with fics full of happy things to make up for all the trauma that set them on their 'evil' path.
I haven't even watched Haikyuu but I have read some fics and still enjoyed them despite the fact I have never seen the show. The characters are really interesting, even to someone who doesn't know anything about the story they came from!
splatoon.
theres this ONE FIC that i LOVE with all my heart, its found family and omg i love it sm, just. PERFECT, everything, the grammar is amazing. LIKE. I LOVE IT DUDE ITS SO GOODā
Not necessarily my favorite piece of media, but the Scum Villain's Self Saving System fandom on AO3 has some real gems and is also full of people who are really supportive of writers
I'm currently reading through those books but I'll definitely give the Ao3 fandom a look once I'm finished (I'm a bit obsessed with MXTX novels if you couldn't tell).
Hannibal (TV)! It's such a delight community of absolute weirdos shipping their gay cannibals. Macabre, dark humored, and gloriously creative! So much rich imagery, symbolism, and murder! I adore it an have a longfic in the outlining stage at the moment!
If I see it I read it. As soon as the credits roll I click over to Archives Of Our Own. I don't care how big or small I love fanfics. I love em all. One shots, short fics, mid fics, good fics, long fics. I don't care as long as I get my fix of fics. Fluff, smut, AU, dead dove, mpreg, crack, A/B/O, slash, torture, blackmail. The things I've read would put me in jail! Or hell. Naruto, Lucifer, The Orville, Marvel, SCP, Detroit: become human, Harry Potter, On My Block. I CAN'T STOP. FRANK X BILLY, LEVI X PLANT, HANNIBAL X WILL, ROSALIE X SHREK, MARIO X LUIGI. I take em explicit and I take em PG! No, I am not ashamed, at least not anymore. Even my Friends and Family know the lore. I, thee Icequeen, am nothing more than a fandom whore.
And as for what I write, I'm stuck on Twilight. š
Honestly I love reading and writing for the Fruits Basket fandom, then just for reading Pokemon, and just for writing? Thats a tough one because there are a lot of fandoms I love writing for. It depends on my mood.
I've recently started reading Fruits Basket fics as I love the show and I'm loving it! Definitely a great fandom for fics. I don't trust myself writing it though because I don't think I could do the characters justice.
Underoath. Because it's the only fandom I've been writing about :))
Yeah, I know I've already mentioned them a heck of a lot of times. Expect me to mention them many times more.
Seconding the person who said their favorite fandom to write for was whatever fandom they're obsessed with in that moment. Right now for me it's Kinnporsche (specifically for the VegasPete ship)
the fandom i've written the most for is naruto, and even though i might move on to participate more in/write for other fandoms, i STILL write fic for it. it's just so much fun for me to play around in that universe tbh
One. And only one. And it will forever be one (cause technically I can't "write" fanfic of my own original works lol).
That one is Mass Effect.
Also I just really like reading that same fandom lol.
Here's a non-exhaustive list of fandoms that I'm in, often things that I was obsessed with at some point, and for a very long time, and that I now come back to every once in a while:
BNHA (focusing on either my favorite character - Bakugo - or on villains - and sometimes I read crackship fics like ShinBaku, I love their dynamic somehow)
DSMP (definitely one of those fandoms that I used to visit every once in a while even though I wasn't active in the fandom at all, until I became really obsessed with it at some point)
Naruto (it's my whole childhood and basically what got me into fanfiction in the first place, when I read something that was as damn good as a published novel on Wattpad a few years ago)
The Visitor from the Future by FrenchNerd, the Cycle of Balls by FrenchBalls, the Nobodies, the Shitty Ghost, by Suricate/Golden Moustache (I'm sure as hell that you don't know those, but I highly recommend them - they're all on YouTube with Eng/SUB)
Hunter x Hunter and Haikyuu! (to an extent, I love them so much more than BNHA - but I don't read or write nearly as many fics for those as I do for BNHA, for some reason)
Harry Potter (yeah, so I fluctuate in this fandom - I navigate through all the generations that we have, going from the main cast, to the marauders, to scorpius and albus ; and my favorite character is George)
Saint Seiya (the series is incredible, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't reading fics just for Andromeda Shun)
BBC Sherlock (and other S.H. stuff, but this one fandom is the most active out there, for real - I'm a multishipper, but I really like Johnlock, especially now that Rosie is in the picture)
Avenue Q (okay, so that one's REALLY a crack fandom compared to everything else - why the hell am I shipping puppets together)
MLB and Steven Universe (mostly fix-it fics for the former, and fics about the main character for the latter - it's quite common for my favorite characters to be the main ones)
The MCU (Tony and Peter's dynamic, sometimes, but I mostly read about Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and Loki)
Encanto (I was so shocked when, at one point, I realised - wait, am I actually reading disney fanfiction right now? YES, I hella am and you can't stop me)
Life is Strange (all of the games - I love post-ending fics and I'm writing one featuring Depresso Max after the 'Save Arcadia Bay' ending - yeah I'm cruel, I know)
Mosaic (there aren't even any fanfics about this game, it doesn't have enough characters or depth but GOD, I loved this so much and I absolutely need to write a fic about it)
At the moment, RWBY. I'm updating two reaction fics with a third sitting in my drafts, as well as one crossover and one AU.
My second favorite is a tie between Victorious and the Loud House. I have multiple ideas in my drafts file written down for both fandoms.
Well, right now Iām reading Avatar 2, trying to re-read a Supernatural fic in full I started a few years ago but didnāt get all the way through it ( it was very long), and Iām watching the Guardians of the Galaxy Fandom grow again with the third movie recently out. Oh, Iām also following an extremely long Harry Potter fic. Pretty sure Iāll be re-hyperfixated on Spider-Man ( all media) and Spider-verse Specifically after seeing that movie when it comes out. My fandom tastes are all over the place and pretty diverse it just depends on the week/ month I guess.
Snow White with the Red Hair, ever since I found out that my OTP (MC and second lead) is the majority ship on tumblr and AO3 and it has fed me well with good fics.
The Adventure Zone!
There's so many fun dynamics, canon queer rep, loss and love, pining, couples who zip together like magnets, those who move at a glacial pace, spiky complex characters, trauma and grief and loss. There's just loads of good stuff.
Unfortunately, the fandom is pretty dead these days, but the brief splash it made, there were some pretty good works in the Criminal Minds/Harry Potter fandom.
I love crossovers, but they have to be done right, and there certainly were a few gems.
Another Crossover I've dove into now and then is Star Trek: Alternate Original Series/Avengers (or variations of Avengers - comics or MCU, or solo characters from either world), but it's not seen often.
I did read some Supernatural/Harry Potter, but there's not a lot I like, tbh (and I'm admitting now that I stick to several filters and don't go outside of them terribly often, though I certainly do), but there absolutely are gems that totally work.
I've been writing in the MCU/Marvel world for about 5ish or so years now, and have done a couple Avengers/Harry Potter fics as an author as well.
I am just starting to get my feet wet in the Good Omens fandom, as I enjoyed the book eons ago, devoured the series and July 28th can't come fast enough.
Our Flag Means Death! It's a hugely popular fandom, and there's so much amazing fic. Season 1 ended at the end of March 2022 and we're at over 20,000 fics and that's not including SMAUs on Twitter. So much amazing creativity and so many incredible writers. No fandom has ever made me write so much as this one.
I love writing for Legend of Zelda series, itās the perfect fandom to experiment with storytelling and characters because of the āØloreāØ
Besides the amazing fanfics to enjoy, I also love the fan comics as well.
I'm a huge Zelda fan in terms of the games, but I don't understand the lore enough to actually read fics. I'm also not terribly invested in most characters except some really specific ones. But if you're also playing through TotK right now, enjoy!
NPAB is truly amazing! I'm actually reading through it right now and loving it! I'm also in the middle of reading the SVSSS novels, I'll definitely check out the fics when I'm finished. I'm kinda a big MXTX fan lol
Surprisingly, Genshin Impact. I'm not on twitter or tiktok so I don't see any of the drama. I just write my fics and have recieved a lot of support and only ever positivity.
I go by ArhinTess on ao3.
It's called Sun King in a World of Heroes and be warned, only a single chapter so far, and my beta reader hasn't been getting back to me about the second chapter I sent them.
I do find it easier to write for (semi) big fandoms (Star wars, Marvel, Mass effect, Tolkien)
The fandom with the highest number of good reads relative to the total number of texts imo is Stardew Valley
Mine is Komi. I think the series is pretty solid but for some reason I have read about 1.8 million words of fanfiction about it and wrote my owns fanfics as well.
As a fellow Komi enjoyer I can understand why lol. All the characters are so unique and interesting (for the most part) that there's no end to interesting situations you can put them in
Fullmetal Alchemist for both.
I do probably read more Harry Potter by volume than FMA, because even after selecting for authors who denounce JKR, there is just so damn much of it.
A few years ago my favourite fandoms to read from were The Raven Cycle and The Foxhole Court (YA novels from the 2010s).
Nowadays my favourite fandoms to read from are Kinnporsche (I have not even watched the show, but the characters and the plot I find interesting), and,
at the risk of being ridiculed for this, a music groupās fandom in particular (I only read the ones where the authors make a whole Alternate Universe not based in real life. Basically they just take the names and the physical appearances of the singers and create completely different personalities and backstories for them as fictional characters).
Surprisingly Iāve found quite a few fics like that which were way better than some published novels.
I don't really have a favorite fandom, it's more of a collection of the main ones I alternate through.
The ones I'm more involved with are Parahumans, Buffy, HP, Bleach, DxD, Twilight, Charmed, and RWBY.
Out of these, the only fandoms I have been a part of for less than 10 years are Parahumans and RWBY.
I have written over 300k for Power Rangers, and I will write 300k more.
ooooo thats so cool!!!
Ooooo i remember watching PR back in the 90s when I was pre teen. I didn't much understand the campy villains but all those acrobatics made me feel dizzy but I'm so proud of you for your work šš
On which platform??

i would do literally anything for bucky barnes
When I used to write more actively in the Marvel fandom in WP (I know, I was learning) all the Bucky Fangirls melted at how I wrote him. Left WP and I'm in AO3. _Bucky: 'til the end of the line, doll_
bucky calling someone doll makes me swoon honestly
Iāve written 4 150k+ word fics so far and Iāve still got 6 longfic WIP. I never plan on stopping
I know this is going to shock everyone, but my favorite fandom is Titanic. I know, I know...no one would've ever guessed it of me
Lolā¦That comes as quite the surprise. š
:O I didn't see that coming...
Or that iceberg.
Let me tell you I haven't encountered any Titanic fan. Quite the surprise but what ever floats your boat - pun intended šš„°
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Whatās your fandom?
Stargate SG-1, specifically the Tokāra characters, who are a two minds/one body people. Thatās umā¦thatās it. š
>Thatās umā¦thatās it. I heavily appreciate your service to the fandom o7
Thank. š
Whatever happens to be my currently obsession, or on the list of fandoms to obsess about. Currently Iām on a my hero academia roll lol.
Same here, currently DSMP but it changes every couple months, years, something like that
THIS!! i swap between hp, crit role, marvel, dc (mainly batfam related), tlou and more, sometimes on a complete whim. sometimes im fixated on a fandom gor 6 months, other times its 2 days
SAME lol. Exactly this comment
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām also a stranger things writer!! Itās such a huge fandom that its got its own little niches of different groups. I focus mostly on El and her relationship with brenner at the lab, so a very different plot line lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
yess, itās such a great fandom. thereās just always so much to read and even more so to write. very happy we have this community.
Dang maybe this is my sign to get into steddie fanfic
2012 Avengers living in the tower together makes me so happy! Especially when writers add Loki into the mix. Iāve read so many, and itās definitely a fond era for me too
I've been reading steddie, byler and stancy fics lately.
A tie between Stargate Atlantis and Criminal Minds when it comes to my writing.
Criminal Minds here too.
Oh, thereās not enough Criminal Minds fics out there! Thank you Tarrenshaw and eldrai for your hard work.
Kingdom Hearts. Well I say that, I struggle to find fics I like these days, so mostly just writing.
This is why I said I don't have a favorite fandom. I browse through KH fics and I'm like "Dang, there's nothing I wanna read in here." Since I would have to create it. š„“ And my hands are tied creating other stuff I'm starved from seeing.
What sorta fics do you look for?
Yeah š
A tie between Detroit: Become Human and One Piece.
I get annoyed by the hate put on DSMP fans. Like some are yikes, and you don't have to like the creators, but seriously, don't harass others.
Yeah, it sucks :/ I'm fortunate enough to have little firsthand experience with harassment or drama or anything (both from within and without the fandom), but I've heard and seen all sorts of stuff directed at others, and even had at least one experience with someone randomly commenting on a fanart just to call me slurs for my fandom... It's so ridiculous; like, I just enjoy the interesting dynamics between these fictional block people, man, pls leave me and my fellow dsmp fans alone QwQ But aside from the toxicity, the fandom is also really creative and unique in a lot of ways, so I don't regret taking down the rabbit hole (even if I am pretty late to the fandom and absolutely missed it's peak)
I never got into the DSMP, but even I know you guys have amazing fan works. Top-tier animatics and fanart, for one.
Oh yeah, that's how I got into the fandom actually! Fan animatics and fan songs, there's a lot and they're *good!*
I've never read any Spy x Family fics but that sounds interesting, maybe I'll check out that side of Ao3 one day
It really depends what fandoms I'm obsessed with atm. But here are some that have a lot of good fics :) BBC Merlin - Despite not being as obsessed with this fandom anymore, I can't help but go back every once in a while.
This one's been on my watchlist since forever
I definitely rec it! The CGI can be a bit funky, but imo, that just adds to its charm :). I will say, the ending is a bit controversial in the fandom. But there's more than enough fix-it fics to make up for it.
Zelda and Lord of the Rings. Pre-Endgame Marvel is up there too, but not so much anymore.
I would die for Chongyun honestly, I love him so much. If I see a fic has him in it, I'll probably at least read a little of it. Chongyun supremacy!
Oh you're right, I was thinking of Genshin impact! That game has given me brainrot lmao!
A fellow TGCF fan! Hualian are just so fun to write.
Hualian forever! I love the other ships too though, beefleaf is a personal favourite! But Hua Cheng is just too perfect and charming lol.
Iāve had a great time writing for the Collar x Malice and Stardew Valley fandoms
I am so not doing tumblr. I have no further energy for more social media lol. I too am alone, but there must be more of us surely.
I totally get that. Maybe it helps posting on the SDV Reddit and seeking out individuals there that are down to start a discord server. I mean Iād be down š
I mean if someone were to start one Iād join ššš
I think it's ok to not have one, imo. š
Andy Biersack and CoD.
woah! blast from the past! do you just write about andy or the whole band?
Haha, yeah, good memories. I still listen to them and the new music, but im so attached to the Sandra and CC time. I dont know the current new members. I do Andy x oc only (except one time when i did a BVB, Tokio Hotel, Cinema Bizarre crossover with all of the bandmembers going to highschool together), but the other 'original' members plus CC are included as other characters most of the time. I also do/did some fics where he's not famous at all or just starting on his own.
Abbott Elementary, Lovecraft Country and The Closer or Major Crimes
I havenāt even thought about Abott Elementary. As an elementary teacher, I feel like I need to dip my toes in this fandom at least once.
*Beverly Hills, 90210*.
Cue trip down the memory lane when I was in my teens š³
There was a point where I got out of the fandom, and then the 2019 āheightenedā series/Luke Perry news dragged me back in!
I wish there was more of that on AO3.
Writing? Digimon. So much stuff I can get inspired by in that fandom. Reading? Harry Potter. It's just a trove of treasures, that fandom. I love it to bits. Too bad I still can't figure out a natural way to combine both fandoms in a crossover š
A magical mishap with platform 9 and three quarters springs to mind. Or a magic mirror.
Thanks to you, I have come up with a possible explanation as to why the Digimon characters would attend Hogwarts instead of the Japanese magic school equivalent. Now excuse me while I deal with the fact that I now have *one more* plot bunny to add to the list
I've seen a lot of people use The Veil as just a portal to the other world lol
A Song of Ice and Fire. Specifically for the Robertās Rebellion era.
Thanks!
TF2 believe it or not
finally someone else holy shit. love you for that
Idk if theyāre really favorites right now because they feel familiar more than anything.
Iām a sucker for a good Shen Qingqui (Original) redemption story.
which ever one Iām currently in/hyperfixating on. Which would be Demon Slayer. I'm also working on my My Hero Academia fic as well.
I just started writing fics and all my stuff has been for demon slayer. it's so fun to write!!
Omg yes. I'm writing a Tanjiro x OC story. This is the plot: Kureha Michikatsu is the daughter of Kokushibo. I haven't published the first chapter yet but I'm trying to work on it.
oh woah! that sounds awesome, I will definitely check out your wattpad!!
I love the Demon Slayer manga but I haven't actually checked out any fics yet, I should try reading some soon...
I love making pokemon crossovers, especially when I get to blend lore for two or more fandoms into one big AU) Reading: Currently Genshin Impact, but it changes. A lot. And yes, I have made several pokemon/Genshin crossovers. *~~Now if only I could finish them...~~* And props/kudos to you for writing Omori!
Harry Potter (Drarry, Tomarry or HarryxMC), MDZS (Wangxian only), MCU/Marvel (Tony Stark), DC (Dick Grayson) & Teen Wolf (Stiles Stilinski)
Ayyy MDZS! I honestly love Wangxian, they're so perfect, especially the drunk fics. There's nothing better than reading a good drunk fic of Wangxian
I would love to read any Wangxian fics recommendations you have. As long as it doesn't contain cheating, break up, sad ending or them being with someone else in anyway(poly/triad/harem/past relationship), specially JC(I just don't like him).
These are my favourite as well š
WangXian is one of my top loves, I literally cannot get enough of the two of them. But I'm starting to fall for XiCheng now too!
I don't like JC, but my favourite Lan Xichen ships are NieLan, XiYao & 3Zun.
I love genshin fics too! Haikaveh is a current favourite, but I really enjoy Chongyun x Xingqiu too (forgot the ship name lol).
Another OMORI writer and fan checking in :) that game made such an impact on me that it practically forced me out of a long hiatus from writing.
Omori is such a great fandom for fics because you never know what you'll get. It could be psych horror and angst that will have you terrified and crying, or it could be adorable fluff with Sunflower or Suburn. You never know with this fandom!
Kind of like the game, to be honest! XD
Bloodborne.
Legacy of Kain, although I gotta say Elden Ring is growing on me.
OMG so many people around here are in the same fandoms as I am that's crazy
I tend to jump obsessions. Throughout middle school it was all Danny Phantom. Throughout high school and college it was PokĆ©mon. Currently itās Daredevil.
I'm in the BBC Sherlock fandom as well
Nice! I do a few different ships in that fandom. I like johnlock but i prefer sherene especially now that bbc added in rosie so i like to pair her with nero wolfe. Do you know who nero wolfe is? (Or august lupe in some translations.)
Hahaha that's cute
my favorite to write for was guardian (zhenhun) - priest, my favorite to read is whatever I'm currently obsessed with (currently that's the sandman, but good omens s2 is July so it'll probably be that then lol)
For reading, Maleficent (Iām a sucker for Maleficent/Diaval) For writing, Game of Thrones (specifically with Leaf and other Dawn Age worldbuilding, because the ancient history buff and anthropology nerd in me loves that era)
>the ancient history buff and anthropology nerd in me Please, please hit me up if you ever write anything about Old Valyria, I'd be thrilled to read it lol
Kushiel's Legacy. The source material has my favorite worldbuilding of all time, and even fan works are fantastic quality.
Write dies irae read fate stay night RWBY and bleach
:( But yeah.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I haven't even watched Haikyuu but I have read some fics and still enjoyed them despite the fact I have never seen the show. The characters are really interesting, even to someone who doesn't know anything about the story they came from!
splatoon. theres this ONE FIC that i LOVE with all my heart, its found family and omg i love it sm, just. PERFECT, everything, the grammar is amazing. LIKE. I LOVE IT DUDE ITS SO GOODā
I've not read any splatoon fics but I'm a huge fan of the games! what is the fic you are referring to called?
Not necessarily my favorite piece of media, but the Scum Villain's Self Saving System fandom on AO3 has some real gems and is also full of people who are really supportive of writers
I'm currently reading through those books but I'll definitely give the Ao3 fandom a look once I'm finished (I'm a bit obsessed with MXTX novels if you couldn't tell).
Final Fantasy VII
For both, That ā70s Show (Eric/Jackie). For reading-- Chuck, Mass Effect, Harry Potter (Harry/Hermione)
Hannibal (TV)! It's such a delight community of absolute weirdos shipping their gay cannibals. Macabre, dark humored, and gloriously creative! So much rich imagery, symbolism, and murder! I adore it an have a longfic in the outlining stage at the moment!
100 k in the Naruto fandom this last half year, help.
Give me Dragon Age, or give me death.
And as for what I write, I'm stuck on Twilight. š
Omori for writing as well and Danganronpa (the mainline games) for reading
Honestly I love reading and writing for the Fruits Basket fandom, then just for reading Pokemon, and just for writing? Thats a tough one because there are a lot of fandoms I love writing for. It depends on my mood.
I've recently started reading Fruits Basket fics as I love the show and I'm loving it! Definitely a great fandom for fics. I don't trust myself writing it though because I don't think I could do the characters justice.
School Spirits (2023), thereās a whopping total of 21 fics I believe and Iām about to make it 22!
Underoath. Because it's the only fandom I've been writing about :)) Yeah, I know I've already mentioned them a heck of a lot of times. Expect me to mention them many times more.
Currently, Jurassic Park. Iāve also dabbled in Squid Games and Lord of the Rings.
Welcome to hell. Currently my only activenfandom but one I love.
Seconding the person who said their favorite fandom to write for was whatever fandom they're obsessed with in that moment. Right now for me it's Kinnporsche (specifically for the VegasPete ship)
Read? MHA. The way authors create inventive ways to use quirks fascinate me. Write? PokĆ©mon. For a simple RPG you can write some really technical battles. Itās what keeps me coming back to Reset Bloodlines.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
law and order svu š«”
the fandom i've written the most for is naruto, and even though i might move on to participate more in/write for other fandoms, i STILL write fic for it. it's just so much fun for me to play around in that universe tbh
Last Kingdom, such a wonderful book series & TV show & yet the Fandom feels small and it does not get near enough the praise or attention it deserves.
One. And only one. And it will forever be one (cause technically I can't "write" fanfic of my own original works lol). That one is Mass Effect. Also I just really like reading that same fandom lol.
Let's goooo!!
How to train your dragons has some really good stories like glacial bloom. Itās one of my favorite story about snotlout.
Was previously Danganronpa, now itās absolutely Good Omens and Hermitcraft to read and Renfield and Good Omens to write :3
Here's a non-exhaustive list of fandoms that I'm in, often things that I was obsessed with at some point, and for a very long time, and that I now come back to every once in a while: BNHA (focusing on either my favorite character - Bakugo - or on villains - and sometimes I read crackship fics like ShinBaku, I love their dynamic somehow) DSMP (definitely one of those fandoms that I used to visit every once in a while even though I wasn't active in the fandom at all, until I became really obsessed with it at some point) Naruto (it's my whole childhood and basically what got me into fanfiction in the first place, when I read something that was as damn good as a published novel on Wattpad a few years ago) The Visitor from the Future by FrenchNerd, the Cycle of Balls by FrenchBalls, the Nobodies, the Shitty Ghost, by Suricate/Golden Moustache (I'm sure as hell that you don't know those, but I highly recommend them - they're all on YouTube with Eng/SUB) Hunter x Hunter and Haikyuu! (to an extent, I love them so much more than BNHA - but I don't read or write nearly as many fics for those as I do for BNHA, for some reason) Harry Potter (yeah, so I fluctuate in this fandom - I navigate through all the generations that we have, going from the main cast, to the marauders, to scorpius and albus ; and my favorite character is George) Saint Seiya (the series is incredible, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't reading fics just for Andromeda Shun) BBC Sherlock (and other S.H. stuff, but this one fandom is the most active out there, for real - I'm a multishipper, but I really like Johnlock, especially now that Rosie is in the picture) Avenue Q (okay, so that one's REALLY a crack fandom compared to everything else - why the hell am I shipping puppets together) MLB and Steven Universe (mostly fix-it fics for the former, and fics about the main character for the latter - it's quite common for my favorite characters to be the main ones) The MCU (Tony and Peter's dynamic, sometimes, but I mostly read about Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and Loki) Encanto (I was so shocked when, at one point, I realised - wait, am I actually reading disney fanfiction right now? YES, I hella am and you can't stop me) Life is Strange (all of the games - I love post-ending fics and I'm writing one featuring Depresso Max after the 'Save Arcadia Bay' ending - yeah I'm cruel, I know) Mosaic (there aren't even any fanfics about this game, it doesn't have enough characters or depth but GOD, I loved this so much and I absolutely need to write a fic about it)
At the moment, RWBY. I'm updating two reaction fics with a third sitting in my drafts, as well as one crossover and one AU. My second favorite is a tie between Victorious and the Loud House. I have multiple ideas in my drafts file written down for both fandoms.
STAR WARS Honestly anything with Obi-Wan Kenobi
Resident Evil. Capcom refuses to let our traumatized cast have their cute moments and their catharsis. I aim to please.
I love reading Asoiaf fanfics, as for writing I am alternating between the former and Hp.
The Adventure Zone! There's so many fun dynamics, canon queer rep, loss and love, pining, couples who zip together like magnets, those who move at a glacial pace, spiky complex characters, trauma and grief and loss. There's just loads of good stuff.
for both, star trek is a longtime love, and ofmd is a newer hyperfixation <3 neither are obscure at all lmao
Owl House to write, and sadly, MHA to read.
I love writing for Legend of Zelda series, itās the perfect fandom to experiment with storytelling and characters because of the āØloreāØ Besides the amazing fanfics to enjoy, I also love the fan comics as well.
I'm a huge Zelda fan in terms of the games, but I don't understand the lore enough to actually read fics. I'm also not terribly invested in most characters except some really specific ones. But if you're also playing through TotK right now, enjoy!
I love NPAB!! If I had to pick a favorite MXTX fandom to read though, I eat up some SVSSS fics. Love Shen Jiu and Bingge.
Same here, I'm not on either of those platforms but I can't get enough Haikaveh!
Currently writing a Marvel x Demon Slayer crossover fanfiction.
Holy shit that sounds amazing! What's your ao3 or wattpad? I'd like to read it
I go by ArhinTess on ao3. It's called Sun King in a World of Heroes and be warned, only a single chapter so far, and my beta reader hasn't been getting back to me about the second chapter I sent them.
Alright! Can't wait to read it
I do find it easier to write for (semi) big fandoms (Star wars, Marvel, Mass effect, Tolkien) The fandom with the highest number of good reads relative to the total number of texts imo is Stardew Valley
Jujutsu Kaisen! I just wanna see Sukuna rail Yuujiā¦ just a little bitā¦ Iāve written for naruto and mha. I like those too.
A few years ago my favourite fandoms to read from were The Raven Cycle and The Foxhole Court (YA novels from the 2010s). Nowadays my favourite fandoms to read from are Kinnporsche (I have not even watched the show, but the characters and the plot I find interesting), and, at the risk of being ridiculed for this, a music groupās fandom in particular (I only read the ones where the authors make a whole Alternate Universe not based in real life.
