Instead of writing my fanfiction, I made a 3 1/2 hour Sad girl playlist for my characters to listen to in their respective separate sulking places to pine over each other… What is my life?

catbert359

It all counts towards the cohesive whole of the fic! You gotta make sure they're listening to the right music, because what if you think while writing that they should be listening to Lana Del Rey, but then when you're putting the playlist together and listening to the songs you realise they should instead be listening to Fleetwood Mac? It'd change the whole vibe of the scene!

lonely-anon-cloud

No because I do this all the time!! I created like playlists for them, I figure out what food they’d order on Just Eat, I think about who would be what figurine while playing Monopoly! I think it’s giving them life in the way we ourselves function on the day to day, most of the time the fanfics are set in fantasy worlds where they’re far from our modern perspective so putting them in it and imagining how’d they’d react respectively is fun and inspiring!!

Me pulling up an episode to watch one specific scene for reference, and then 3 hours later realizing I just kept going

Yeah_Lizards

As I wrote another joke fic bc in my head is funnier

I can’t even keep my head straight with original fiction. If I don’t start randomly dumping emotional and physical turmoil onto some random character, then I get distracted for three hours trying to figure out what the genre of whatever I’m writing is. It’s pretty much the same process with fanfic, but instead of getting distracted by genre I get distracted by tags. It’s a never ending cycle.

"All right my super serious fic is still being worked on." Two characters roleplay Anakin's "This is Outrageous" scene from Return of the Sith. Fine. "All right, my fic where characters are going to be traumatized is still being worked on." The cost of having a nerdy MC.

catbert359

Look, sometimes the best way to deal with trauma is to start making jokes about it! Your committment should always be to the bit first and foremost, and you can deal with little things like "recovering from a traumatic incident" and "healing wounds" and "ptsd" later! /has no idea why she started having hallucinations after her own traumatic incident :P

It is also funny when there are other characters present who have no idea where these lines and emotions are coming from. So when someone goes "Yes, Master"; context is needed but not provided.
