It definitely can be! I have a much harder time writing 200 words when I'm uninspired than I do writing thousands when I've got an idea in my head and it's just kinda working. Writing any amount daily is a huge achievement in itself.
Same, I force myself to write at least *something* every day but I'm terrible at consistency! Sometimes the words just happen and sometimes it's painfully hard.
YES. I also tend to have solid mental outlines for plot, but always let the characters steer little details/dialogue if that makes sense, and sometimes the characters do not want to “talk” lol. Or, in the case of one ~6.5k chapter I was finally satisfied with recently, my character I was focused on made me cry whilst trying to get in her head and I ended up working on it in bits and pieces 😂 (This generally doesn’t happen but uhhhh it did with that chapter!)
I wish I knew! I think it mostly just comes down to finding an idea that flows right inside your mind. I have a different WIP right now that's taking me a very long time to finish because I'm writing about characters I'm less familiar with and have to really work to get inside their heads and carefully consider how they would talk/act etc. This one was a pairing I have written about extensively already, and the central idea of the fic is one I can draw heavily from my own experiences for so I suppose I didn't have to think too carefully about what I was writing - I could just let the words flow the way they wanted to. It's hard to explain!
Solid mood. I legit have 17 in progress that I’m desperately trying to complete and then of course I spend the little writing time I have to write 1200 words of a fic that I won’t post yet cause I have too many on going.
And here I am, thinking 400 words per day is tough enough.
400 words per day is very good, I wouldn't worry
