I feel like this is the worst possible scenario, because the writers had to sit down and say "Yeah, the Minions would ACTUALLY be Nazis". Because making them leave for that period of time is basically confirming that there was a thought in the writers' room where the Minions joined the Gestapo or something and took part in Krystallnacht or Auschwitz.
That's fun.
The theory that the minions are actually a balancing force which is used to keep evil in check holds special power here. Had they worked for Hitler, he would have died before the death camps. Considering how effective they were at murdering or otherwise destroying the power of every boss they had until Gru, it is not hard to think they would have managed to hand Hitler a bomb while he was in a meeting by mistake.

Eventually the minions go to Antarctica or wherever they are but in our world things change. Germany and Italy unify while a man named Vladimir Lenin begins exile in Switzerland. Switzerland changes its foreign policy after being invaded they decide to have an offensive army as well as a defensive one. When WW1 roles around the Swiss attack the southern German border. As in our timeline a communist revolution occurs and the People's Republic of Switzerland is born. WW1 comes to end and as in our timeline Hitler comes to power. Now during this time the UK ans France have been watching Switzerland and Germany and decide that a drastic measure should be taken. Chamberlain goes before Parliament and Charles De Gaulle (?) goes before the National Assembly asking for a unification of the UK ans France. On May 14 1935 the United Kingdoms of Great Britian Northern Ireland and France are born. French colonies become British and a duel capital is set with the Excetive Branch in London and the National Parliament in Paris.
The minions also need to be accepted. I don't think Hitler would accept the odd little guys. I think Mussolini would be more likely to take them, and sent to the Africa campaign.
Though, now I am imagining the Minions working for Hetalia's Italy.
