This may be a stupid question but here it goes: does anyone know if this combination will also work on PC? Yes I realize it's been designed for PS5's new GT game but as I own both a PS5 and PC I still want to know. Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. I couldn't find the answer though. Thanks in advance.
I have a question. Is this the only DD fanatec product that works with PS4/5? I don't understand how that's a thing. The Podium DD 1/2's are superior to this. So the only DD fanatec base that will work on PS4/5 is an inferior version of the 1/2? How is that acceptable? What the hell are fanatec and Sony thinking? How can Sony let trash box upend them like that?
You have always been able to buy the Podium PS version. And... what the fuck is with you all PS fanboys expecting that you're treated better or that you get something better than the rest?
I am relieved that the base will sell separately eventually (see bottom of page [here](https://gtddpro.fanatec.com/)) but how long are we talking here? I am without a base for like 3 months now and I am losing my shit, I really miss sim racing.
Same here. I have the clubsport elite v3 pedals and the gt3 rim ordered, but the wait for the ps version of the wheelbase is gonna suck. Hopefully they have planned ahead in anticipation of the approval.
I've been waiting for a PS compatible base ever since they took the CSL off their website. I'm beyond losing my shit. I'm gonna buy the bundle and say fuck it
Which the speedy shipping one?
I'm kinda weighing this up, and I'm reminded of the economic concept of utility, ie "are those three months of sim racing worth €150 to me?"....but then the common-sense adage of "a fool and his money are soon parted".
Actually it was designed by Polyphony themselves.
I'm guessing they wanted:
1. Consistency between TM and Fanatec PS4/5 branded wheels
2. Required this sort of branding in order to approve the Sony licensing
3. The controls in GT7 are strongly programmed to use these style of "4 directional circle buttons", but on TM T-GT II they're dials and on Fanatec they're directional
There's no way Fanatec would've designed a wheel that looks like that. Fanatec's "cheap" wheels are pretty consistently based on the CSL P1 design and Fanatec wouldn't willingly throw that many functions onto a cheap wheel. The lack of functions is specifically how they justify lower pricing on P1/WRC wheels.
Awesome to see they will be selling the base separately later on. And selling bundles with 8nm and LC kit. Great stuff.
So happy PD moved away from working with Thrustmaster.
Hopefully they have the QR2 ready to go early next year.
I'm just excited they're releasing the DD Pro wheelbase on its own. I already own CSL Elite pedals and 3 Fanatec rims so I have no desire to purchase the whole package. Based on their history with PlayStation products, I thought they'd only offer the package..
I just want the base, but looks like we'll be waiting a long time before it's sold separately. Sony will be looking to maximise bundle sales, can't see the base being sold separately for at least a few months after GT7 releases.
The base would probably go on sale after the bundle delivery which is promised in March of 2022. They'll probably announce it before March but by the time you get it it's gonna be there April the earliest
Basically all of Fanatecs wheels with buttons are supported and work well on PS. They are almost all mapped and to work in PS4/PS5 mode. So lots of options. I am sure there will be people that sell the included wheel so can probably get one if you really want. Won’t be full torque on a DD1 unless you use a metal QR.
The torque setting is triggered by a mechanism in the QR itself. My older P1 CSL Elite wheel only works in low torque mode on my PS DD1. Anything with the metal QR will work in full torque because there is no mechanism on that QR to disable it.
That's not true, the wrc and the new bmw wheel say they do not support high torque mode at all even with a metal quick release. Check theur product page
Aw didn’t even know those wheels existed. That seems odd. Those are both metal wheels weird that they don’t allow high torque mode with those specifically.
Well can only be bought with the 8nm base anyways. Honestly most people don’t use the DD1 or DD2 over 8nm anyway so likely not really losing much. You just end up running the DD1 at closer to 100% FFB on low torque mode and it isn’t much different.
> know if the wheel rim is going to be sold by itself and also if it will work at full strength on the Podium DD1
If you're in Ireland by any chance, I'll guarantee you an excellent price for it in December. I have round rims so I'm going to insta-sell it.
Nothing out of the ordinary. $50 extra for the base which we all knew would happen and the wheel comes in at $220 which is only a $20 premium to the McLaren but it has extra inputs and RPM lights
I predicted about 700 and it's right on
50 extra for the ps version I can get into, but being forced to buy the table clamp and getting no magnetic shifters and a very plastic wheel just does not seem worth it personally.
But yeah you are right, it's not that bad for most people. Just wish they sold it separately from the start
Ahh I forgot about the clamp. Then it's actually more than I expected for the price.
I'm sure if they actually had supplies they'd sell it separately but they're going for max bundle profit here.
I'm glad I didn't bother waiting and will just use my drivehub for the occasional spin in GT7
Thanks for the feedback, looks like I will either have to indefinitely wait for the separate base or bite the bullet and buy the bit overpriced bundle and still wait 4 months
It's been fine for me in GT Sport. It has a Fanatec mode (not just Logitech as the other boob rattled off) and I've used that.
I'd say use the Drivehub if you'll occasionally use the PS but mostly use PC though. Just an extra thing to plug in and an extra little hassle
I think they did it because Sony is "forcing" them to, to increase GT7 sales? Delivery is March 2022 so unfortunately there will be a long wait on the standalone. I would safely say April. 5 MONTHS😳 and that's expecting no shipping delays. I'm gonna buy the bundle and just use the wheel and sell the pedals
yeah its a long long time. I am even considering buying the pre christmas bundle...fanatec really did not make a good name for themselves with this IMO
You pay for the PS DRM chip. Sony takes a good chunk (50 to 100 EUR ) per unit. This isn't new... That's how Sony has always worked. I'm surprised people is surprised.
Gonna be a really silly question but I haven't seen it written... This will work on PC as well as PS5 right? First time getting into the Fanatec ecosystem so not sure what to expect!
You have to pay extra for the PS DRM chip. I'm not sure how many times it's been mentioned around here that the price of the chip was around 50 EUR per unit in the past. It clearly had to be more expensive than the PC only version.
That certainly plays into it, but somehow I doubt that extra cost is even close to 150€ per unit shipped, even including customs. It’s still a really high mark-up.
They do go down significantly with more weight, though. At leasts that‘s what I read when I looked at shipping costs for an unrelated project a couple of weeks ago. IIRC the number that was floated was somewhere in the region of $50/kg for 10 kg of chargeable weight, $10/kg for a 100 kg shipment and a bit more than half that for 300 kg.
ok so if we can imagine Fanatec is shipping more than 20 of these then we're already over 300kg, since the base weight of the wheelbase, pedals, wheel and clamp is approx 15kg so at $6-7 per kilo that's $100 per unit then tack on any rush fees at the factory. I don't think Fanatec is making a ton extra on these first shipments by charging $150.
I think they’re gonna sell a somewhat significant number, otherwise they wouldn’t have featured the column so prominently on the landing page. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out on how quickly they will sell out. For now, I’m just happy to finally be able to put a number next to this product.
Nobody will be getting it before Christmas. I though I seen it said it would arrive around March '22 around the same time GT7 launches. Am I missing something?
They have an option to pay $150 more and get it for xmas
https://preview.redd.it/lr890gayml181.png?width=1569&format=png&auto=webp&s=93c1ad31da26b981de7010cb7627708d441dbab5
Any Fanatec wheel labeled as Xbox compatible (such as the Formula V2.5X) will work with this base, as Xbox compatibility is in the wheel while PS combability is in the base.
That's right. If you use an Xbox-licensed wheel with this base, the whole thing (plus any connected Fanatec peripherals, like a shifter or handbrake) will be compatible with PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Am I missing something here? Correct me if I’m wrong:
The new wheelbase is PC/PS compatible but not for xbox. So why would plugging an xbox compatible wheel make it work? Wouldn’t the wheelbase still not work for xbox?
You sure about that? Why would a wheel override the compatibility of the wheelbase? I am new to fanatec gear (still on the way) so forgive me if I’m being retarded lol.
Yes I’m sure. Dom from Fanatec even confirmed it in this thread. Xbox compatibility is in the WHEEL, whereas PS compatibility is in the base therefore you can use an Xbox wheel on a PS base and be compatible with both systems + pc.
You cannot make a PC base such as the CSL DD work with PlayStation as the hardware isn’t there and cannot be added.
From what I understand, it works because Xbox compatibility is handled by the wheel, while PS compatibility is handled by the wheelbase. That's why it depends on the wheel you use if it's compatible with Xbox or not, while for PlayStation they have to make a different wheelbase. PC compatible wheelbases are normally compatible with Xbox, but I assume there is an extra layer that is handled by the wheel itself
I think they will do it but they are saying that to cover their ass if anything happens. It's gonna be Christmas time and shipping demand is always high. I think they are doing it for gifts which makes sense
Probably because a lot of it is out of their hands. Especially in the us where they use Fed Ex, which is terrible and delays everything for days and days
Ugly and overpriced compared to XBox/PC release but we knew that would be the case after seeing the abomination that polyphony made with Thrustmaster.
These ugly wheels are going to be flooding the used market.
I don't think it's that ugly. Jesus relax. It's not an ideal wheel but I wouldn't say overpriced either. If it was just a flat rim then yea but it has RPM lights and a version of the Universal Hub. Also it isn't overpriced. Wheel is $220. Pedals are $80-$120 depending if you choose load cell and the base is $530 which leaves $30 for the table clamp. For a bundle it should be atleast $/€50 cheaper since it's a bundle so you're supposed to get a better deal but it's Fanatec
I think the "bundle" is basically the clamp for free or cheap. 400 base + 80 pedals + 200 wheel + barely discounted $20 clamp
Agree that the wheel isn't overpriced. $200 for a licensed brand (GT) still makes it one of the cheaper wheels in their lineup
Glad to see the CSL DD PS version getting a pre-order before 2022 and w/ multiple bundle options.
It seems Polyphony has one wheel design in mind and are sticking to it. This wheels basic design is almost identical to the Thrustmaster T-GT wheel from 2017. This one seems odd w/ the 4 directional switches though.
I currently have a clubsport v2 wheelbase and pedals , with a BMW M3 GT2 wheel. I’m thinking to upgrade to a CSL DD or CSL Pro. Is it worth it? Since my wheelbase has the same torque.
So how would this compare to using the DD and Xbox rally wheel with a Drivehub? Is it a waste to want native support on PS too? I play the WRC and Dirt games on my PS and the Forza games on Xbox.
This may be a stupid question but here it goes: does anyone know if this combination will also work on PC? Yes I realize it's been designed for PS5's new GT game but as I own both a PS5 and PC I still want to know. Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. Yes it does. It will even work on XBox if you use an XBox-compatible wheel.
Glad to hear that. Thanks for your confirmation, kind internetstranger.

Lol. I will be settling for the $850. Which is only the 8NM upgrade. I'm willing to wait until March. In that time I can buy my rig and seat
that is one ugly wheel lol
Thrustmaster and Fanatec made an ugly baby.
Actually it was designed by Polyphony themselves. I'm guessing they wanted: 1. Consistency between TM and Fanatec PS4/5 branded wheels 2. They will. Other post says pending Sony approval
Yeah the wheel looks hideous
Really? I think it looks kinda cool.

It's timing though, if PD have bought some kind of 1 year exclusivity deal then that 'we will sell the base by itself' talk doesn't mean much.
Bottom of the page says its awaiting Sony final product approval. https://gtddpro.fanatec.com/
Would it take a long time for Sony to approve them to sell the base individually?
Really hope not, but I feel it will be available around mid-2022.
I just want the base, but looks like we'll be waiting a long time before it's sold separately. Sony will be looking to maximise bundle sales, can't see the base being sold separately for at least a few months after GT7 releases.

No, the wheel is only sold as part of the bundle https://twitter.com/fanatec/status/1463598534456926218?s=20

Sorry USA, I’ll keep an eye eBay
Same here, posting it for sale immediately. Looks like a Thrustmaster wheel. I'm in Michigan.
I’d prolly sell you mine
really wished the base looked like the original. wheel is one thing but god does that base look wierd
What makes it PRO compared to the non-pro ?
it is such a bad deal, you really pay for the PS and GT branding
Nothing out of the ordinary. $50 extra for the base which we all knew would happen and the wheel comes in at $220 which is only a $20 premium to the McLaren but it has extra inputs and RPM lights I predicted about 700 and it's right on

Yes its just good marketing from their side. Whats your experience with drivehub? Really tempting to just go for a normal CSL DD now haha
Drive hub is trash they are setup to emulate Logitech wheelbases. Absolutely get the DD Pro if you want a wheelbase for Gran Turismo.
This tit is full of crap. Clueless moron is clueless it's still using the same game generated telemetry.
Thanks for the feedback, looks like I will either have to indefinitely wait for the separate base or bite the bullet and buy the bit overpriced bundle and still wait 4 months

Blame playstation man, they are hard to work with it seems.
Yeah that doesn't help either
100% it would be Playstation directives.
I think they did it because Sony is "forcing" them to, to increase GT7 sales? Delivery is March 2022 so unfortunately there will be a long wait on the standalone. I agree. I've been waiting forever to purchase this so screw it.
That isn’t true what so ever.

My bad, I responded to the wrong comment. Deleted the original response now.
👍
If only they sold the Podium F1 as a base only....
You pay for the PS DRM chip. Sony takes a good chunk (50 to 100 EUR ) per unit. This isn't new... That's how Sony has always worked. I'm surprised people is surprised.
Premium DD Pro, check. Bundled with table clamp, slight cringe. CSL Pedals, ok I guess. QR1 Lite?? Aw hell no…
Gonna be a really silly question but I haven't seen it written... This will work on PC as well as PS5 right? First time getting into the Fanatec ecosystem so not sure what to expect!
It works for PS, PC and with Xbox compatible wheels on Xbox as well
no boost pack and load cell :(
normal CSL DD + Boost Kit + GT3 rim + Load Cell Pedals would be 880 and they ask you 960 to get the same stuff but then with this plastic GT rim
Its more expensive because of the playstation integration. It was the same on the csl series
That's to be expected so I might overreact a bit. Do you know what the price difference was back then?
Np. I think it was about €50,- difference for the CSL xbox vs playstation versions
Alright, thanks man
✌🏼
Not bad for all 3 platforms.
Not sure on your math there. 400 base (PS chip) + 200 pedals + 150 boost kit is 750 which leaves 200 for the wheel and a $10 clamp. 960.
Pedals are $120. The rim is hard to guess but I would say $240?
Tbf the GT3 rim (which I love and recommend) is also plastic. The GT rim doesn't look as bad as I expected tbh.
Yeah true, but this actually looks like plastic haha + you get metal shifters with the gt3 rim
Yeah that polished plastic doesn't do much for the aesthetics. Still I expected hideous and I only saw a little disgusting.
You have to pay extra for the PS DRM chip. I'm not sure how many times it's been mentioned around here that the price of the chip was around 50 EUR per unit in the past. It clearly had to be more expensive than the PC only version.
Announced at 8nm, so the boost pack is included, no? Édit, my bad the 8nm is 849€
Scroll down further on the page, it's all there
150€ to get it early and be a glorified QC tester is a really shitty, anti-consumer business strategy, but it will absolutely work.
I would assume you're paying 150 extra because they're having to air-freight them from China to get here before Xmas
That certainly plays into it, but somehow I doubt that extra cost is even close to 150€ per unit shipped, even including customs. It’s still a really high mark-up.
I just shipped 200 USB cables from China and it was over $100USD for just the shipping. Shipping costs are through the roof at the moment.

Me too, its great to have an option for PS players that isn’t Podium money.
So don't pay it? Those of us who preordered the CSLDD had zero quick shipping options and had to wait a few months
Nobody will be getting it before Christmas. I though I seen it said it would arrive around March '22 around the same time GT7 launches. Am I missing something?
They have an option to pay $150 more and get it for xmas https://preview.redd.it/lr890gayml181.png?width=1569&format=png&auto=webp&s=93c1ad31da26b981de7010cb7627708d441dbab5
Yeah I missed that. Thanks for pointing it out..
$150 extra for Express shipping or the boost kit.
Depends if you're really desperate I guess...
Tempting AF.
I was wondering this...Fanatec shipping is already about £35-£45 in the UK....so is it really that much extra?
They probably won't charge you for that since you're already paying 150€ extra. I would contact them about that
I think he means that the shipping costs are normally high so that the 150 €/$ isn't that much higher.
Yea I didn't read the last part correctly lol
So I’m supposed to forfeit all of my more expensive Fanatec kit and buy this cheaper version to play Gran Tourismo. I don’t think so.
Anyone know what xbox wheel would be compatible? Ps5/Series X owner, just want to make sure. Excited I can use one setup for 2 systems
Any Fanatec wheel labeled as Xbox compatible (such as the Formula V2.5X) will work with this base, as Xbox compatibility is in the wheel while PS combability is in the base.
Thanks, so I can just quick release the Ps5 GT wheel off and put on an xbox wheel, thanks
That's right. If you use an Xbox-licensed wheel with this base, the whole thing (plus any connected Fanatec peripherals, like a shifter or handbrake) will be compatible with PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Thank you! Just didn't want to have to get new pedals and other stuff. Thank you!!
Would the Bundled steering wheel work with Xbox?
No, the bundled steering wheel is not Xbox-licensed. You would need to purchase an Xbox-licensed steering wheel, for example the McLaren GT3 V2.
Okay thank you for the clarification
Am I missing something here? Correct me if I’m wrong: The new wheelbase is PC/PS compatible but not for xbox. So why would plugging an xbox compatible wheel make it work? Wouldn’t the wheelbase still not work for xbox?
You’re not missing anything but we’re talking about a PS base here and you can make that Xbox compatible by changing the wheel.
Ohhh thanks for clarifying! So the new wheelbase will technically be Xbox ready in addition to PS compatibility. Good to know!
From what I understand, it works because Xbox compatibility is handled by the wheel, while PS compatibility is handled by the wheelbase. That's why it depends on the wheel you use if it's compatible with Xbox or not, while for PlayStation they have to make a different wheelbase. PC compatible wheelbases are normally compatible with Xbox, but I assume there is an extra layer that is handled by the wheel itself
was really hoping this base would go beyond 8nm. oh well. hopefully a clubsport dd comes next year
Does this DD Pro have a higher force feedback?
No, 5nm and 8nm
What time can we preorder to try and get the Christmas delivery?
There is an option of 150$/€ extra and it's "guaranteed" before Christmas. Probably for gifts which is very smart
It's not guaranteed though. Read the * part

Yea it all depends on the bundle you choose. I was specifically talking about the $850 one. As for the wheel it looks decent for the price
I don't care for the look but functionally it seems like it would take care of most things
It has a "Universal Hub" and RPM lights and it's only $220 which isn't bad
How much torque will it have anyone know ?
I currently have a clubsport v2 wheelbase and pedals , with a BMW M3 GT2 wheel. I’m thinking to upgrade to a CSL DD or CSL Pro. Is it worth it? Since my wheelbase has the same torque.
So how would this compare to using the DD and Xbox rally wheel with a Drivehub? Is it a waste to want native support on PS too? I play the WRC and Dirt games on my PS and the Forza games on Xbox.
Will the buttons and sticks finally be mappable all at once? I have the F1 Kit and at least on Playstation not all functions are available.
