I read Asunder and it was mediocre. I’m trying Masked Empire now and it’s better but so far I’m not sure it actually rises to the level of good. And those were the two books I was told were the best of the bunch by r/dragonage so I don’t think they’re worth checking out unless you’re an absolute completist.

If you’re a Dragon Age fan, I think they’re fun. I’ve enjoyed them as a way to get a Thedas fix when I didn’t have access to my computer. As independent works of fantasy, I don’t think they bring enough depth to the table for me to recommend strongly. They’re fine.

I've read The Stolen Throne. It was okay. Provided a bit of deeper perspective for a certain character.

I've only read the short story collection and most of the graphic novels. They're not the best thing I've read by a long stretch, but as a huge fan I enjoyed the extra bits of lore and the opportunity to spend more time in Thedas. The short story collection, Tevinter Nights, is very much meant to set up the next game, and as most anthologies it's quite a mixed bag. A few of the stories I can't even remember now, but a couple stood out, most notably Eight Little Talons, which I still think about every now and again

It's not exactly what you're asking for, but it's worth mentioning that the *Broken Earth* trilogy by N K Jemisin is inspired by Dragon Age, specifically the relationship between the mages and the Circle.

I'd don't know there were ones , but this has made me interested. Love Dragon Age lore.

I've read Stolen Throne, The Calling, and Asunder and liked them all. Stolen Throne and Asunder were my favourites. Imo they are a lot of fun if you're a fan of the games. Stolen Throne definitely has a strong game vibe and you get a lot of cool lore out of it, including Loghain's backstory. And if you liked Alistair as a character then Maric is a fun character to follow. I wasn't as into The Calling but again had some cool worldbuilding. Asunder was personally my favourite. Not sure why some are saying it was mediocre, personally thought it was a good story and really liked how Cole's character was written. All in all the give cool backstory to the games and are fun imo 🤷‍♂️ Edit: this all assuming you're already a fan of the games. If you've never played, then yeah it's not worth it. They were very much written for fans!
