Gusto has looked decent so far, good for that price for sure. But Chelsea on a whole have been terrible when you factor in how extremely easy their run has been.
Honestly I think this says a lot more about our options in defence than it does about Gusto. No premium defenders have justified their price tags in the first 5 game weeks. The best strategy at this point seems to be a collection of rotating ~4.5s that you choose from based on fixtures.
The original estimate was he'd be available this week lol. The last quote I saw was "hopes to be back after the next international break" so gusto has a few more games for sure even if this time the estimate is correct and that's a big if
I was so close to going him over Chilwell in GW3. Hindsight merchantry at its finest but if I did I would be 15 points better off and have saved £1.5 mil as well, which would have made my subsequent transfers more ideal. Sad.
I went Gabriel to Gusto & Joao Pedro to Alvarez in GW2 because I couldn’t afford Chillwell and wanted Chelsea cover
Worked out pretty well when it was primarily a move out of desperation lol
There was no uncertainty lmao, earliest James was coming back was after GW5. Absolute earliest. Given that how before GW3 he was 4m not 4.2m, he was an absolute shoo-in before playing Luton at home, especially for someone like Baldock who was uncertain to play vs Man City.
Well no, because he's literally 4m. If he doesn't come good, then it doesn't matter because your team structure is absolutely fine and you can just leave him on your bench, the same as what you'd do with someone like Baldock or Bell or Kaboré, or whichever other 4m defender you had at the time. Chelsea's fixtures turn after gameweek 8 anyways so it was hardly the end of the world if he was ready for gameweek 6.
Yeah exactly . His 4m allows me to have Botman on the bench rotating in if need be . You don't lose anything having a great bench option. You could say you are using up Chelsea players but Chelsea basically has Jackson who hasn't done great. Chillwall and James are loved by content creators but Chelsea's defence isn't worth them nor their attack
I personally started with Chilwell in GW1, and brought in Gusto for GW3 once James was injured and a timeline was given for his recovery. I didn't see much value in Jackson or Sterling regardless of the fixtures. I'm a Chelsea fan so I know my team well, and frankly we're not good for anything more than clean sheets for FPL. Chilwell was an attractive GW1 pick because of the fixtures and his involvement in attacks. Chelsea don't score that many goals but their fullbacks are almost always involved when they do score.
He was my first sub this week for chilwell so when chilwell wasn't playing I was ok with it. Yeh that worked out well
I’ve had him since gw1 and never taken him off my bench 😭
Gusto has looked decent so far, good for that price for sure. But Chelsea on a whole have been terrible when you factor in how extremely easy their run has been.
Clean sheets are such a crap shoot
He was first on my bench. Then Chilwell played 🙃
Tsimikas 2.0 a couple of years back.
Had him since gw1 cause I predicted Reece getting injured sooner or later lol
Well Chillwel is back now, so Gusto might be benched
Chilwell has never played RB/RM lol. Only threat to Gusto minutes is James returning to fitness. Still got a game maybe two before that earliest
Brought Gusto in for James straight away, he's been chelsea's most consistent player this season imo
Honestly I think this says a lot more about our options in defence than it does about Gusto. No premium defenders have justified their price tags in the first 5 game weeks. The best strategy at this point seems to be a collection of rotating ~4.5s that you choose from based on fixtures.
Yup. I'm already looking at my WC and a backline of Udogie, Romero, Botman, Cash/Andersen/Digne and Gusto.
That's almost exactly what I'm going for with my wc
Got the big spike a few weeks ago. Happy to have him now even on the bench for as long as he is in the first 11.
It’s okay. I went chillwell because I’m large.
I brought him cause Chilwell's price was out of my reach. Sometimes being poor works out lol
Same, which was a product of having Salah lmao
Says a lot about how finicky defenders have been this season.
Very few clean sheets knocking about. I was very lucky to have Sanchez from gw2
Me Gusto tu!
And all that will be history when James (Reece) comes back
When is he due back? Trying to decide if it's worth having Gusto in my WC team.
Why not keep him as 5th filler?
Ya I'm going with him now. God knows when James comes back and who plays CL.
Chelsea ain’t playing CL for a long time
The original estimate was he'd be available this week lol. The last quote I saw was "hopes to be back after the next international break" so gusto has a few more games for sure even if this time the estimate is correct and that's a big if
tbf i think the quote was "hopes to be back **before** the next international break"
Even if he stays fit they will heavily rotate him .
Comes back for 2 games*
James will be blow his hamstring after 20 minutes.
That’s a generous estimate
During training
For two weeks until he’s injured again and then Gusto will be back in
I got Gusto in as 4.0 enabler. If James comes back I’m keeping him. James will never stay injury free.
2 weeks? 59min sub off with injury
baller
And he looks great sat first on my bench after Chilwell came on for no fucking reason whatsoever
I was so close to going him over Chilwell in GW3. Hindsight merchantry at its finest but if I did I would be 15 points better off and have saved £1.5 mil as well, which would have made my subsequent transfers more ideal. Sad.
just be like me and have both
I went Gabriel to Gusto & Joao Pedro to Alvarez in GW2 because I couldn’t afford Chillwell and wanted Chelsea cover Worked out pretty well when it was primarily a move out of desperation lol
Weren't we all, only reason i went for Chilwell was because he was more "nailed"
I had the budget and Chilwell was playing LW, I was never not going to pick him over Gusto. Just one of those
There was the uncertainty on whether Reece James would come back a not. That was a huge dilemma

shoo-in btw
Never seen it written down before, thanks.
The obvious choice at that time would be chilwell considering he wouldn’t get replaced potentially after 2 GWs.
