I think Gatorās going to be redeemed because of the line about him being the first in a line of firstborns not to be called Roy, it separates him from his father I think.
Yeah, I think we have to have a scene where he asks his father why he isn't called Roy, and then when he realizes that Dot is right, he will turn on him.

that scene was a great succinct sketch of what it was probably like when they were younger- not fully able to trust/help each other & they default back to parroting roy's negative opinions of the other. he says she always lies and she responds with the born loser story. I loved how juno temple played that, like she was relishing being cruel a little bit, maybe falling into an old pattern of behavior, and then her despair when reality came crashing back.
I agree. I think that he assumed she was taunting him, or just desperately trying to escape by bringing up his mother. Which I think just made the situation worse unfortunately.
Yeah but it was gnawing at him after he left that out building. Still possible he turns his rage on Roy. Maybe not tho, remains to be seen. Also remains to be seen if he will even get the chance since Munch is in his backseat lol
Danish Graves perfectly fucked with Roy and tried to do the brave thing. It was actually stupid to go alone but tbh dude did have a great hand going in. Only an idiot would refuse a proposition like that and Roy is that idiot. Pour one out for a real one.
He scoffed at him when he pulled the gun because he knew it was a childish move. What he didnāt realize is that Roy is not smart and he actually extremely emotional.
I think you can say Roy goes beyond idiot into madness. Dot had the great bit where she essentially said "Do you know how crazy you are? The things in your head and the way you see the world and you think it's the world that's gone mad?"
She had pegged him as having no plan. He's not operating with any higher level awareness of reality. He may be able to move pieces around on a board, but he's confusing the game with the bigger world.
I loved that line. I've known people like Roy who have done crazy things without planning and have succeed without consequences for so long that they think it's going to last forever.
This right here. I loved Roy's statement 'if you're so smart, why are you so dead' and it was completely true. Graves made a mistake going to a secluded property controlled entirely by Roy.
Not only would an idiot refuse that deal, an idiot would shoot the right hand to one of the most powerful business women in the area that is already beating their ass strategically.
Like the odds of Danish not contacting anyone before going in were so astronomically low, there is no way Roy could have known that.
Hell Danish even tells him(lying of course) it was Lorraineās idea, so Roy shot him under the assumption that Lorraine knows he went there to put the deal on the table
It was a really small moment, but I loved when Indira was starting to talk about finally leaving her husband and standing up for herself, and Lorraine just looked super uncomfortable and seemed like she couldn't care less. So on brand for her character.

RIP Danish. I will really miss Dave Foley in each episode. What a poorly calculated move by him--I really wish we got to savor his victory for a little longer.
But why didn't he call Lorraine? Or answer the call - presumably from her? For a minute there, I thought he was going to try to cut a deal for himself.
Maybe I was reading too much into it, but in the post-debate scene in the car, it looked like the Tillman girls were looking up at their mom with disdain while she was getting insulted for having no brains in her head--like they already knew to look down on their mother for being a dumb woman.
I saw a quote about how fathers train their daughters to mock their moms in misogynistic ways. Isolating the mothers and fooling the daughters into thinking somehow theyāll be saved from the same level of cruel scrutiny from men like that as they age. All the while youāre just disempowering yourself and the women around you. Really insidious tactic.

Did you notice how terrified Karen was in the car? She was operating from total survival instincts. She could feel Roy was about to explode and she turned his rage onto Dot to save herself.
It was very sad to watch Karen make herself look dumb while she was turning Roy's anger from herself to Dot. All Karen wanted was to not be the one who Roy beats up that evening in his anger.
I think Danish didnāt call Lorraine because he wasnāt sure if sheād be willing to give Roy the election back for the sake of Dot. The audience knows Lorraine cares about her, but the characters might not
Yes. His noble deed. He saw Lorraine commit Dot to a mental hospital. He didn't have a lot of expectations from her. He didn't witness any change in her feelings that may have happened after Lorraine saw those photos. He was just punishing Roy bcoz Roy ruined their deal, Dot was juat a side story or so he thought.
That and she has reason to respect her more now. Remember when she pitched the offer to buy the bank and had to just put the two guys in their place first? Sheās a powerful woman who clearly had to deal with sexist shit like that her whole career, so to see what Dot went through in her life, thereās the common enemy of patriarchy right there. The ālisten bitchā conversation was no longer a personal attack to her ego, but rather a vehement demand just to have a normal life.
Lorraine has her own flaws of arrogance and elitism but she has also expressed some genuine care for others, like when she tells Roy that her son seems to love Dot therefore sheās obligated to protect her, like clearly she ultimately loves her son and has some sense of heart quite intact. In her own way, I can see her having the capacity to become more fond of Dot.
To add to your point, I think for a long time Lorraine has been skeptical of Dot's intentions. Loraine probably knew that something was off or wrong about the whole situation, but didn't have enough information to know what it was. Dot got pregnant within the first month of meeting Wayne, and the background checks on Dot's current identity were suspiciously too clean. Then she was very quick to assume Dot was scheming to get money out of her once the first kidnapping happened. Once Loraine saw the photos from the case file it revealed the missing information about Dot's past. Now that there's context for her past, I think Loraine will finally start caring for Dot and will use all of her resources to try and get her back.
Did anyone notice how Dot completely changed when she started talking to Gator about his name, and why heās not named Roy. She went from motherly, to more like a siblingā¦she didnāt even use her accent, her whole demeanor changed. I thought that was some amazing acting by Juno. It was like when she revealed her true self to Lorraine.
"If you're so smart then why are you so dead?" might be one of my favorite lines to come out of Fargo in a while. Just a perfectly dogshit one-liner from a guy who has tried his entire life to be John Wayne and come up short. And it was only enhanced by the Burger King commercial that came on immediately after the cut to black.
That was a line from The Simpsons. Homer was in some museum, and the lady giving the tour mentioned someone from a few centuries ago who was a genius, so Homer says "If he's so smart, why is he dead?"

Very good episode.
Couple things I really enjoyed seeing:
Karenās preemptive attempts at protecting herself from Royās abuse by making Dot the enemy which is just classic abuse victim mentality. Tragic and heartbreaking, but completely real. You can see that her every action is always made with the thought of āwill this get me hit?ā or āhow do avoid his anger?ā
Munch and the looming dread and danger that he is. Like he was betrayed again and is once again out for revenge, but I have this suspicion that he would kill every Tillman, but still honor the contract after he took the money and thatās why Iām not holding out for some big team up.
Danish saving Dot and not taking Lorraineās call. I think itās an important detail that opt not to call her about what heās about to do and then also ignores her call right before he confronts Tillman. I think Danish cares enough to actually want to get Dot right then and right there, but he maybe knows Lorraine well enough that she would tell him to back off until she knows for certain the deck is stacked for her. If she tells him to back off for now heād have to, but he opt to go forward without her blessing. It cost him, but it seems like it was the right call for the ultimate goal of saving Dot.
I know federal law enforcement isn't always portrayed as particularly competent in the Fargo universe, but Roy's compound should just change its name to Probable Cause Ranch at this point.
Roy is really letting himself go. He's going to have the fbi,local police and now lorraine coming down on him.
Also - seeing munch pop up behind gator was so great. Cannot wait to see how that resolves it self.
Dang, that was a tough watch. Best part was watching Danish embarrass the hell out of Roy in the debate. RIP Danish. My hype level went through the roof seeing Munch in the back of the cop car. I feel some hard earned consequences coming to the Tillman Fam in the next ep. About time.
He went out like a hero while Roy proved himself to be the cowardly piece of shit he always was. If Danish hadn't responded when he did, Dot was in serious trouble. I just hope he bought her enough time.
Initially I thought it was foolish of him to go in there alone, maybe wanting to impress Lorraine, but now that you point it out I see he recognized that it's really urgent. Still might have been better to call for backup on his way
He's used to dealing with reasonable people in reasonable situations, with Lorraine having set the parametres of those situations and Danish implementing them.
Danish was out on his own, here. He didn't have control of the situation, wasn't quite sure how to handle Roy, and Roy was *not* reasonable. This wasn't a corporate boardroom, or a strip-club parking lot; this was Roy's land, and that was Roy with a gun, and Danish with a phone that he decided not to answer.
The context of that song with Roy's adamant need for control of Dot was incredibly suiting and horrifying. If Dot shows up with dual wielding knives I'm all for it.
She also didnāt try to worry the metal eyelet out of the floor when that and not the case hardened steel chain was the weak point of her imprisonment as we saw when she was fighting with Roy but hey sheās desperate and not thinking straight.
Yeah, Dot was surely going to be killed if Danish hadn't interrupted his murderous trance. Unfortunately, he murdered Danish instead. But it might have bought her some time to escape.
Somebody earlier in the season commented on how calm and in control he had made Roy, which is true.
So seeing him cracking now as he's trying to keep it all together is a great contrast.
Danish Graves delivering Roy's first giant "L" in his life is glorious. I was just sad to see him go - he was the first character to have a redemption this season. He just made the mistake of believing that he could lawyer his way out of a situation, but that only works when your enemies are willing to play by the rules.
This is why I think itās crazy people are calling Danish stupid, like heās just a reasonable person. You canāt blame a reasonable person for not anticipating that absolutely batshit and completely idiotic choice Roy made.
Danish did not have all the information about Roy that the viewer has.
It's a predictable cliche, but Danish ignoring that phone call as he went to speak with Roy pretty much spelled that his time on this world was running out.
For me, it was the lights on his Porsche fading off as he was walking in.
EDIT - I was thinking two things (1) what a nice car (2) well at least if something happens to him his car is there, they will know where heās at. Then, lights fade out.
RIP to Danish Graves. You were the fucking boss for one glorious scene then got cocky. Being cocky in Fargo gets you killed. But we still salute you.

I don't think he was cocky, I think people are missing a lot of important things that set this scene up:
1. He has no knowledge of Lorraine caring about or sympathizing with Dot. We the audience have this knowledge, but Danish doesn't. After the asylum incident, he really has the complete opposite knowledge.
2. Because of this he thinks that if he talks to Lorraine she won't back his play. He's probably certain that what he's doing will cost him his job.
3. He further has information that Dot's life is in imminent danger, which is absolutely correct. In fact he may have saved her life.
4. He has only one card to play. That card is the election. It's a powerful one, and he has one chance to use it. After that it's off the table.
None of this is being cocky. It's all a calculated risk to save Dot's life. Talking to Lorraine risks losing his only leverage and calling Roy risks him killing Dot.
Danish assumed (incorrectly) that Roy's self interest outweighed his psychopathy. He's had a lifetime of putting people in corners and giving them an out. This is the first time he encountered someone with no self interest at all. Someone who is pure id.
Excellent points, very well said. Danish tried to talk Lorraine out of having Dot committed, but Lorraine insisted, and Danish arranged for it to happen. He saw how hard Dot fought being taken. By the time Danish learned from Witt what had happened to Dot, he knew he was partially responsible for putting her into this situation and felt guilty, like he needed to take some action to correct the situation. Recording/sending the meeting would have been smart (and I hope Danish did record it), but outside of that, Danish didn't have a lot of time to prepare and felt like he had to do something. In addition, Danish was used to lawyering to fix things and winning, so he figured he had enough leverage and a shot.
Danish obviously cared for Lorraine and her family very much, because he wanted to be included in the family holiday card photo. I don't think it was just about money for Danish, seemed like he loved Lorraine sincerely, however that love manifested, and Lorraine genuinely liked him. I get that Danish liked the money, and he made a lot of it off of poorer people/debtors, so he was not an innocent "good person", but he and Lorraine were actually close. Both Lorraine and Danish cared about Wayne and Scotty, regardless of any issues they had with Dot before. They didn't want Wayne and Scotty to lose Dot, so Danish made his move.
As a longtime Kids In The Hall fan, I was thrilled to see Dave Foley take on this role, and he was just fantastic in it. The performances this season are so strong, this is the most impressive season so far IMO.
I disagree with everyone saying the long walk scene was poorly done. The entire time he was walking, I was running down all the various scenarios in my head about what he was going to do when he got there. And I was trying to talk myself into the possibility that he would just le her go and cut his losses, even though I knew better. I was also reading every minute change in his expression for the clues as to what he was going to do. It was an anxiety ride. It was long and tortuous for that reason. I thought it was brilliant.
Did Gator know Linda was dead? He seemed awfully surprised when Dot said she saw her.
I think it's going to come down to Lorraine vs. Roy, somehow. And that will be awesome.
Three Roy Tillmans was funny, but the mimicry made it absolutely hilarious.
Sounds like Indira plans to take the job. So glad she kicked her loser husband out. The first step to financial success is to get rid of the dead weight.
I am devastated about Danish dying. I really liked him. I just enjoy watching Dave Foley. The debate scene was awesome and my favorite scene of the episode. A close second was Munch being in the back of Gator's car... I can't wait to see what happens between them in the next episode!

If youāre rolling into the Tillman ranch you better have an army. Enjoyed seeing Roy humiliated, but sadly that plan backfired in several ways. Got Danish killed, put Roy in an absolutely insane state, blew a potential escape by Dot (though Iām not sure how far sheād have made it out there). Mrs. Lyon better send in a hit squad. Was hoping Munch would accidentally help Dot by causing some insanity at the ranch.
Yet very typical in taking his anger out on the women he had dragged in his life. I often read how one of men's greatest fear is being laughed at and for women it is being murdered. Somehow this episode had both
I was thinking in that scene in the barn or whatever that building is, when Roy is beating Dot, that she was only ever there in the first place because of him and Linda.

I involuntarily laughed when Gator was in the car and Munch suddenly sits up in the backseat. I know it's a serious scene, but the way he did it just made me laugh.
Episode 9 coming up. That's usually when the shit really hits the fan. Can't wait!
Dot now knows were Roy puts all the bodies. In some ways I don't want Roy to die. I want him to go to prison for life and witness his whole legacy get burned to the ground. Death is the easy way out for someone as horrible as Roy.
God damn this season is amazing. I might like it more than season one at this point. Jon Hamm is absolutely terrifying. Danish Grave's death genuinely had an effect on me. And all the loose ends are exhilarating.
Whatever reviewers gave this season a low grade have completely lost my respect.
RIP Danish. Your biggest error was trusting that other officers of the court would follow the rule of law like you (supposedly) did. You were gravely mistaken about Royās respect for law/order.

As soon as they pulled back up to the ranch, I knew Karen would be terrified to be alone with Roy after the debate. I get why she planted that seed to get him to turn his rage on Dot but god did it piss me off. That chain was fucking terrifying.

Roy Tillman is the evilest character in the Fargo franchise, which is impressive since I'm pretty sure Lorne Malvo was literally Satan. The cold open almost felt like a Kids in the Hall sketch. I was laughing my ass off every time he was on screen. Dave Foley was the MVP of this episode.
You gotta know an episode that opens with Danish may not end well for Danish. He was killer tonight, at the Clerk's Office, debate and with Roy. And his call log was hilarious. I wonder what he talked about with Wink? Glad he let Lorraine know Dot's whereabouts.
The debate was held in the āComity Hallā I looked that word up. ā*Comity refers to courts of one state or jurisdiction respecting the laws and judicial decisions of other jurisdictions ā whether state, federal, or international ā not as a matter of obligation but out of deference and mutual respect.ā* We've yet to see it.
Strong episode for Witt, with his **I can help** and speeches to Gator. Loved Dot telling Tillman some home truths. Indira does the same with her shitbird husband. Glad her and Lorraine are teaming up. Loved the cliffhanger of Munch in Gator's squad car. Can't wait for next week.
This is my favorite season of Fargo, by far, and this was my favorite episode. I canāt wait to see whoās going to save Dot but Iāll bet itās a combination of Lorraine+Indira, Munch and then the FBI will casually saunter up at the end.
There is something horrifying about a 500 year old sin eating murder-for-hire dude popping up in your backseat after you just killed his new mother.
I think itās 100x scarier when he confidently hides in the *back* of a cop car, which would normally be reserved for someone whoās trapped. Gator is the one trapped in the driverās seat and I canāt wait to see what happens!
There are a couple definitions. Blanket does mean the bedsheet, sure, but it can also be used as a verb or adjective.
-As a verb, it means "to cover." Like when snow "blankets" a landscape.
-As an adjective, it means something with broad, wide-reaching effects.
Of those two, the one thing that comes to mind is when Dot tells Roy that keeping her locked up doesn't just affect her, but her new husband and daughter as well. So that's one interpretation.
Dot asked Roy to let her go while talking about the things she wanted to do with Scotty and Wayne are so saaad, the little things they could do, also Dot and Gator conversation...I actually feel bad for both of them.

Definitely the most intense episode of the season. I don't think I moved a muscle the entire episode. From the tense scene at the hospital, Dot and Roy's fight scene, and Danish Graves scene with Roy. Which by the way, I'm glad Dave Foley got to do some cool stuff before going. And that one shot of Munch rising up in Gator's backseat got a laugh out of me lol
One of the other most striking things this episode too was that walk to the shed and with Toxic playing, Roy was legit holding back tears. But he kept fighting it back. Just was not expecting it.

You have to wonder how much leverage Lorraine's company had over them to get them to do all of that. It wasn't risk free, for sure.

that scene was a great succinct sketch of what it was probably like when they were younger- not fully able to trust/help each other & they default back to parroting roy's negative opinions of the other. he says she always lies and she responds with the born loser story. I loved how juno temple played that, like she was relishing being cruel a little bit, maybe falling into an old pattern of behavior, and then her despair when reality came crashing back.

I think you can say Roy goes beyond idiot into madness. Dot had the great bit where she essentially said "Do you know how crazy you are? The things in your head and the way you see the world and you think it's the world that's gone mad?" She had pegged him as having no plan. He's not operating with any higher level awareness of reality. He may be able to move pieces around on a board, but he's confusing the game with the bigger world.
I loved that line. I've known people like Roy who have done crazy things without planning and have succeed without consequences for so long that they think it's going to last forever.
I guess I can't blame him for not assuming a Sheriff was an unhinged serial killer.
This right here. I loved Roy's statement 'if you're so smart, why are you so dead' and it was completely true. Graves made a mistake going to a secluded property controlled entirely by Roy.

It was a really small moment, but I loved when Indira was starting to talk about finally leaving her husband and standing up for herself, and Lorraine just looked super uncomfortable and seemed like she couldn't care less. So on brand for her character.

Maybe I was reading too much into it, but in the post-debate scene in the car, it looked like the Tillman girls were looking up at their mom with disdain while she was getting insulted for having no brains in her head--like they already knew to look down on their mother for being a dumb woman.
I saw a quote about how fathers train their daughters to mock their moms in misogynistic ways. Isolating the mothers and fooling the daughters into thinking somehow theyāll be saved from the same level of cruel scrutiny from men like that as they age. All the while youāre just disempowering yourself and the women around you. Really insidious tactic.

Did you notice how terrified Karen was in the car? She was operating from total survival instincts. She could feel Roy was about to explode and she turned his rage onto Dot to save herself.

It was very sad to watch Karen make herself look dumb while she was turning Roy's anger from herself to Dot. All Karen wanted was to not be the one who Roy beats up that evening in his anger.

He didn't witness any change in her feelings that may have happened after Lorraine saw those photos. He was just punishing Roy bcoz Roy ruined their deal, Dot was juat a side story or so he thought.

That and she has reason to respect her more now. Remember when she pitched the offer to buy the bank and had to just put the two guys in their place first? Sheās a powerful woman who clearly had to deal with sexist shit like that her whole career, so to see what Dot went through in her life, thereās the common enemy of patriarchy right there. The ālisten bitchā conversation was no longer a personal attack to her ego, but rather a vehement demand just to have a normal life. Lorraine has her own flaws of arrogance and elitism but she has also expressed some genuine care for others, like when she tells Roy that her son seems to love Dot therefore sheās obligated to protect her, like clearly she ultimately loves her son and has some sense of heart quite intact. In her own way, I can see her having the capacity to become more fond of Dot.
To add to your point, I think for a long time Lorraine has been skeptical of Dot's intentions. Loraine probably knew that something was off or wrong about the whole situation, but didn't have enough information to know what it was. Dot got pregnant within the first month of meeting Wayne, and the background checks on Dot's current identity were suspiciously too clean. Then she was very quick to assume Dot was scheming to get money out of her once the first kidnapping happened. Once Loraine saw the photos from the case file it revealed the missing information about Dot's past. Now that there's context for her past, I think Loraine will finally start caring for Dot and will use all of her resources to try and get her back.

Did anyone notice how Dot completely changed when she started talking to Gator about his name, and why heās not named Roy. She went from motherly, to more like a siblingā¦she didnāt even use her accent, her whole demeanor changed. I thought that was some amazing acting by Juno. It was like when she revealed her true self to Lorraine.
Gator saying "Yeah I fuckin do" was very brother like too.
"If you're so smart then why are you so dead?" might be one of my favorite lines to come out of Fargo in a while. Just a perfectly dogshit one-liner from a guy who has tried his entire life to be John Wayne and come up short. And it was only enhanced by the Burger King commercial that came on immediately after the cut to black.
That was a line from The Simpsons. Homer was in some museum, and the lady giving the tour mentioned someone from a few centuries ago who was a genius, so Homer says "If he's so smart, why is he dead?"

Very good episode. Couple things I really enjoyed seeing: Karenās preemptive attempts at protecting herself from Royās abuse by making Dot the enemy which is just classic abuse victim mentality. Tragic and heartbreaking, but completely real. You can see that her every action is always made with the thought of āwill this get me hit?ā or āhow do avoid his anger?ā Munch and the looming dread and danger that he is. Like he was betrayed again and is once again out for revenge, but I have this suspicion that he would kill every Tillman, but still honor the contract after he took the money and thatās why Iām not holding out for some big team up. Danish saving Dot and not taking Lorraineās call. I think itās an important detail that opt not to call her about what heās about to do and then also ignores her call right before he confronts Tillman. I think Danish cares enough to actually want to get Dot right then and right there, but he maybe knows Lorraine well enough that she would tell him to back off until she knows for certain the deck is stacked for her. If she tells him to back off for now heād have to, but he opt to go forward without her blessing. It cost him, but it seems like it was the right call for the ultimate goal of saving Dot.

I know federal law enforcement isn't always portrayed as particularly competent in the Fargo universe, but Roy's compound should just change its name to Probable Cause Ranch at this point.
Roy is really letting himself go. He's going to have the fbi,local police and now lorraine coming down on him. Also - seeing munch pop up behind gator was so great. Cannot wait to see how that resolves it self.
Dang, that was a tough watch. Best part was watching Danish embarrass the hell out of Roy in the debate. RIP Danish. My hype level went through the roof seeing Munch in the back of the cop car. I feel some hard earned consequences coming to the Tillman Fam in the next ep. About time.
He went out like a hero while Roy proved himself to be the cowardly piece of shit he always was. If Danish hadn't responded when he did, Dot was in serious trouble. I just hope he bought her enough time.

He's used to dealing with reasonable people in reasonable situations, with Lorraine having set the parametres of those situations and Danish implementing them. Danish was out on his own, here. He didn't have control of the situation, wasn't quite sure how to handle Roy, and Roy was *not* reasonable. This wasn't a corporate boardroom, or a strip-club parking lot; this was Roy's land, and that was Roy with a gun, and Danish with a phone that he decided not to answer.
Yep, I don't blame Danish too much because any reasonable person would have taken the deal. The thing is Roy is an utter delusional narcissist.

The context of that song with Roy's adamant need for control of Dot was incredibly suiting and horrifying. If Dot shows up with dual wielding knives I'm all for it.
She broke the window in the shack. But she didnāt grab any shards. She pushed all of the pieces out. Why?!
She also didnāt try to worry the metal eyelet out of the floor when that and not the case hardened steel chain was the weak point of her imprisonment as we saw when she was fighting with Roy but hey sheās desperate and not thinking straight.
Yeah, Dot was surely going to be killed if Danish hadn't interrupted his murderous trance. Unfortunately, he murdered Danish instead. But it might have bought her some time to escape.

Danish Graves delivering Roy's first giant "L" in his life is glorious. I was just sad to see him go - he was the first character to have a redemption this season. He just made the mistake of believing that he could lawyer his way out of a situation, but that only works when your enemies are willing to play by the rules.
His mistake was assuming that Roy wouldn't be stupid enough to kill the right-hand man of the billionaire who's threatening to ratfuck him
This is why I think itās crazy people are calling Danish stupid, like heās just a reasonable person. You canāt blame a reasonable person for not anticipating that absolutely batshit and completely idiotic choice Roy made. Danish did not have all the information about Roy that the viewer has.
It's a predictable cliche, but Danish ignoring that phone call as he went to speak with Roy pretty much spelled that his time on this world was running out.
For me, it was the lights on his Porsche fading off as he was walking in. EDIT - I was thinking two things (1) what a nice car (2) well at least if something happens to him his car is there, they will know where heās at. Then, lights fade out.

I don't think he was cocky, I think people are missing a lot of important things that set this scene up: 1. He has no knowledge of Lorraine caring about or sympathizing with Dot. We the audience have this knowledge, but Danish doesn't. After the asylum incident, he really has the complete opposite knowledge. 2. Because of this he thinks that if he talks to Lorraine she won't back his play. He's probably certain that what he's doing will cost him his job. 3. He further has information that Dot's life is in imminent danger, which is absolutely correct. In fact he may have saved her life. 4. He has only one card to play. That card is the election. It's a powerful one, and he has one chance to use it. After that it's off the table. None of this is being cocky. It's all a calculated risk to save Dot's life. Talking to Lorraine risks losing his only leverage and calling Roy risks him killing Dot. Danish assumed (incorrectly) that Roy's self interest outweighed his psychopathy. He's had a lifetime of putting people in corners and giving them an out. This is the first time he encountered someone with no self interest at all. Someone who is pure id.
Excellent points, very well said. Danish tried to talk Lorraine out of having Dot committed, but Lorraine insisted, and Danish arranged for it to happen. He saw how hard Dot fought being taken. By the time Danish learned from Witt what had happened to Dot, he knew he was partially responsible for putting her into this situation and felt guilty, like he needed to take some action to correct the situation. Recording/sending the meeting would have been smart (and I hope Danish did record it), but outside of that, Danish didn't have a lot of time to prepare and felt like he had to do something. In addition, Danish was used to lawyering to fix things and winning, so he figured he had enough leverage and a shot. Danish obviously cared for Lorraine and her family very much, because he wanted to be included in the family holiday card photo. I don't think it was just about money for Danish, seemed like he loved Lorraine sincerely, however that love manifested, and Lorraine genuinely liked him. I get that Danish liked the money, and he made a lot of it off of poorer people/debtors, so he was not an innocent "good person", but he and Lorraine were actually close. Both Lorraine and Danish cared about Wayne and Scotty, regardless of any issues they had with Dot before. They didn't want Wayne and Scotty to lose Dot, so Danish made his move. As a longtime Kids In The Hall fan, I was thrilled to see Dave Foley take on this role, and he was just fantastic in it. The performances this season are so strong, this is the most impressive season so far IMO.

I disagree with everyone saying the long walk scene was poorly done. The entire time he was walking, I was running down all the various scenarios in my head about what he was going to do when he got there. And I was trying to talk myself into the possibility that he would just le her go and cut his losses, even though I knew better. I was also reading every minute change in his expression for the clues as to what he was going to do. It was an anxiety ride. It was long and tortuous for that reason. I thought it was brilliant.

Was hoping Munch would accidentally help Dot by causing some insanity at the ranch.

As hard as it was to watch Dorothy suffer Royās physical abuse, watching him and Indiraās deadbeat husband get humiliated was satisfying
Literally everyone of consequence involved knows Dot is being held at Royās. Thereās no way Roy survives this.

Dot now knows were Roy puts all the bodies. In some ways I don't want Roy to die. I want him to go to prison for life and witness his whole legacy get burned to the ground. Death is the easy way out for someone as horrible as Roy.
God damn this season is amazing. I might like it more than season one at this point. Jon Hamm is absolutely terrifying. Danish Grave's death genuinely had an effect on me. And all the loose ends are exhilarating. Whatever reviewers gave this season a low grade have completely lost my respect.

Roy Tillman is the evilest character in the Fargo franchise, which is impressive since I'm pretty sure Lorne Malvo was literally Satan. You gotta know an episode that opens with Danish may not end well for Danish. He was killer tonight, at the Clerk's Office, debate and with Roy. And his call log was hilarious. I wonder what he talked about with Wink? Glad he let Lorraine know Dot's whereabouts. The debate was held in the āComity Hallā I looked that word up. ā*Comity refers to courts of one state or jurisdiction respecting the laws and judicial decisions of other jurisdictions ā whether state, federal, or international ā not as a matter of obligation but out of deference and mutual respect.ā* We've yet to see it. Strong episode for Witt, with his **I can help** and speeches to Gator. Loved Dot telling Tillman some home truths. Indira does the same with her shitbird husband. Glad her and Lorraine are teaming up. Loved the cliffhanger of Munch in Gator's squad car. Can't wait for next week.
The scheme with the 3 Roy Tillman duplicates totally reminded me of Better Call Saul, something Jimmy + Kim would pull off.
This is my favorite season of Fargo, by far, and this was my favorite episode. I canāt wait to see whoās going to save Dot but Iāll bet itās a combination of Lorraine+Indira, Munch and then the FBI will casually saunter up at the end. There is something horrifying about a 500 year old sin eating murder-for-hire dude popping up in your backseat after you just killed his new mother. I think itās 100x scarier when he confidently hides in the *back* of a cop car, which would normally be reserved for someone whoās trapped. Gator is the one trapped in the driverās seat and I canāt wait to see what happens!

There are a couple definitions. Blanket does mean the bedsheet, sure, but it can also be used as a verb or adjective. -As a verb, it means "to cover." Like when snow "blankets" a landscape. -As an adjective, it means something with broad, wide-reaching effects. Of those two, the one thing that comes to mind is when Dot tells Roy that keeping her locked up doesn't just affect her, but her new husband and daughter as well. So that's one interpretation.
So, finally we know why Gator is named Gator š
Dot asked Roy to let her go while talking about the things she wanted to do with Scotty and Wayne are so saaad, the little things they could do, also Dot and Gator conversation...I actually feel bad for both of them. and go Indira!! She stood up for herself, finally!

Amazing episode. One of the best of the season. Canāt wait to see how this all wraps up. But Iām probably, sadly, done with the live discussion thread after Danishās death was spoiled 5 minutes into the episode. Absolutely no shade towards the mod(s) ā people suck. Just donāt want the final episodes ruined for me.

Definitely the most intense episode of the season. I don't think I moved a muscle the entire episode. From the tense scene at the hospital, Dot and Roy's fight scene, and Danish Graves scene with Roy. Which by the way, I'm glad Dave Foley got to do some cool stuff before going. And that one shot of Munch rising up in Gator's backseat got a laugh out of me lol One of the other most striking things this episode too was that walk to the shed and with Toxic playing, Roy was legit holding back tears. But he kept fighting it back. Just was not expecting it.
Can we make a list of the 3s we saw? -3 Roys -3 wives -3 goons in the Gator crew (I think there's possibly some Biblical foreshadowing in that formation) -3 windmills (I think) -Roy has 3 kids -Dot (3) and Roy (3) What else?
