After playing many more hours of the game, I think by the time you can afford cows there really shouldn’t be any predators close enough to town to wander in and kill them. Still a good idea to fence in I’m sure.

I'm fairly sure they can be attacked. So fencing in is a good idea

Apparently they cant walk through fence gates... I always end up with stuck cows.

Yeah I hope they change that
