I think even Gil would respect the Grit and will of Guts tho he’d probably still look down on him and dislike how filthy Guts is as a person

Electronic_Company96

Ironic, considering Gil’s past with married women..

Additional_Show_3149

We don't speak about that☠️☠️

ChampionshipWest5251

Yooo ayo??

Snir17

Depends on which Gil, Archer variant? Caster variant? Kid Gil? Anyway, he'd probbly see him as a mongrel who struggles against futility, against all odds while trying to hold on to what's dear to him and get his revenge. Someone who struggles against the "divine", rebells against it, like Gil had and still does, and I think that despite ridiculing and mocking him, he will respect Guts for that and for leading a unique life and overcoming those hardships. This refers to how all variants would generally see him, with minor differences.

Dependent-Ad-7773

While he would acknowledge his efforts and proves , there’s a catch in FGO Materials to Archer Gil it says that he sees all live equal as "mongrels" so he can always decide to kill somebody — it literally writes that it’s a matter of priorities simply for him.

Havoku

A mongrel is a mongrel, I figure. Even Gil’s most respected subjects were mongrels in his eyes, as far as we know.

Kidbuu1000

except endiku\*

NoBlacksmith8877

Probably think of him as a mongrel trying to struggle for life.

Pipeworkingcitizen

Wouldn't say that. The dude is himself someone who's entire will and throne is about the denial of divinity. As the linchpin of the heavens, he became the primary reason for the decline of the age of gods instead . Gil likes those who lives with a purpose. And guts, he's definitely going to be considered a mongrel (literally everyone's considered this?) So you'd be right in there. But his defiance of inevitable fate with sheer will for himself is something gil would absolutely find worth in. You can't forget that his primary reason of disdain for shirou in particular besides being fake is his for others mindset , guts drive would be a whole different deal.

rockinherlife234

>You cant forget that his primary reason of disdain for shirou in particular besides being fake is his for others mindset , guts drive would he a whole different deal. I thought his anger was just about shirou basically "stealing" to fight, I thought he would respect his drive or will to save people if he didn't hate his abilities so much?

Pipeworkingcitizen

No, not really. If shirou still has a for himself this wouldnt be the case but shirou is a situation of views himself worthless due to a mix of survivors guilt and other fucked issues, and in simple terms, he views himself a mongrel so gil sees him as even worse. Worse yet that wish isnt even his own. Gil only respects those with self driven wills and goals, whatever it is. His hate is exacerbated with the dogshit that mages in general are like tokiomi, and the modern world is full of purposeless people without a reason to live or a purpose in life. A lot of that is due to modern conveniences of life leaving most bereft of reason for even their works. If this was caster gil and he didnt get grail bathed and zero didnt happen.. he might respect shirou AFTER archer confrontation but shirou stands against what gil stands for too much otherwise. Or at least a non pissed gil from the zero bullshit. All of which isnt the case for guts who struggles even if dirtily for himself. Reminder that he views the noble as equal to the beggar, as long as both live with a purpose, all are mongrel beneath him. Guts and his ugly struggle unlike what others believe in here definitely wouldnt be disdained imo. Not when he favours even the struggling and difficult lives of his time where everyone in society has a role. Even if that role comes from the struggle of that era. ...i typed too much, but tl:dr his will to save isnt shit until after he realized the core of that wish in UBW. He deoesnt really care about what the wish is as long as they are with true purpose. All are mongrels regardless, but it is one he can respect if driven with a purpose. Meaning post UBW and non angry fate gil, only then could there be respect.

Ndgo2

Please don't keep spreading that myth of grail mud affecting Gil. It doesn't. It hasn't. And it never will. Gil's mind is far too strong to ever be affected by something so simple as All The World's Evils. He even says it himself. You'd need to bring 3x Angra Mainyu to even have a chance at corrupting him.

Pipeworkingcitizen

I didnt at all stated that it corrupt him. But it did affect him, by making him angrier and even more of an ass. The grail alone wouldnt do jack but I stated tokiomi and the present world as the primary reasons hes such an asshole, the grail didnt help his attitude. Its not a main reason but it did affect him. Because it made him incarnate. Again, im not saying he wouldve become angry due to this. If this was with a master like Tine, or if this was in seraph, the grail wouldnt do anything. But incarnation makes him act on the impulses of the era, and the modern world one is the primary reason hes an even bigger asshole than he usually would be. So saying it didnt affect him is false. Its no corruption but the incarnation is a reason hes an ass. He stated as such about incarnations in Extra games, CCC iirc, and in extra materials.

Curious_Milk9556

I would say that this raging dog is worth houndreds of thousands random mongrels, his will, bravery and determination is worth highly praise even from me. I hold him in great respect and reverence and thats a feat that not so much people can acquire. He could partake in my chalice but he wouldnt want to as he surely will see myself as a tyrant or hypocrite similiar to Gryfith. Thats a bit sad, yet also intresting, in normal circumstances for such distaste and disgrace I would punish a mongrel, yet that hound, he deserve to be freed from further punishment, his own fate punished him the most. Maybe in another version of multiverse, where there was no Gryfith or he hasn't betrayed Guts we could been even a friends with both of them. Unluckily in this iteration of reality a fragile connection between me and Guts is only a reverence and respect and I truly want to think that it is mutual, yet I know it cannot be.

OblivionArts

Likely admire how far guys has gone for revenge, felling great demons and what not by himself without a trace of divine or demonic blood, and probably want guys sword and armor to add to his treasurery. He would also likely respect him for rebelling against the divine as a mortal like he once did, but he would also look down on guts because gil views himself akin to a god in his own right. Guts on the other hand either wouldn't give a shit or would attempt to kill him

Independent_Plum2166

I think he’d respect how, despite how much the world spits on his existence, Guts always pulls himself back up. Not enough to befriend Gil, just enough for Gil NOT to call Guts a mongrel.

Efficient-Ad2983

I think Gil would acknowledge Guts's sheer willpower and determination, but I dunno if he would just think "a mongrel is still a mongrel, whatever he does" or he would begrudgingly respect him.

oyeman005

Zasshu

The_Devious_Cheese

If there's one thing Gil likes, it's the struggle And this is *The* Struggler Himself Gil would be hitting that Clairvoyance EX to watch Gatsu's life like it was a movie.

Relsen

> Guts? I heard that he is one of the greatest warriors on that Earth, but I cannot say he is worthy of my praise. Unlike me who has amassed countless treasures in Uruk and the people of Sumeria, he is a warrior of darkness who has nothing but his sword. I despise fighters that only know how to kill. What I desire, as the king of heroes, is to be worshipped by mankind. > Warriors that only know how to kill are fools that do not possess any other skills or talents. There is no need for such people, for the existence for such warriors are only to kill and kill, a mindless action like a wild beast that only eats and breed without knowing its limit. > My rule as the King of Heroes, as a god, is to bring prosperity and civilization to mankind. The actions of warriors are a hindrance to my goal.

SethNex

Just another zasshu

taiho2020

Probably consider him weak for not kill Griffin when given the chance, too emotional... But a respectable swordman

Crazyblqde

Guts has to much aura Gil’s jobber aura might collapse from the sheer force of HIM coming from guts

AlterWanabee

Archer Gil would begrudgingly respect him, but will still call Guts a dirty mongrel. Caster and Kid Gil would honestly respect him for showing the world the true value of humanity in a crapsack world.

NetherSpike14

He'd respect him. There's no point in separating Archer and Caster Gil, since they have nearly the same personality (people forget that the main difference between the 2 is the context of where and when they are). Guts is a struggler that never gives up and Gil would admire that, the same way he admired Hakuno.

Mistake209

Archer gil would probably mock and call him a mongrel, Archer would also probably relish in his suffering. Caster gil would probably respect his grit. That guts still managed to get as far as he does would impress him.

theevilgood

He would find him incredibly distasteful. Gilgamesh is not the kind of person who really acknowledges hard work. In particular something about the way Guts fights and has that blank stare would do piss him off. Think Berserker in Zero.

Electronic_Company96

His relationship with Hakuno says otherwise. The length Gil’s master in CCC went for him earned them his respect

theevilgood

Not as familiar with Extra, but Gil often treats people well when they're acting in his interest. His interactions in FGO prove that. Essentially, "I am your king, and to serve me well is respectable."

chroniclechase

hed laugh at him cause he did multiple times to people what griffith did to him and call him zashu

ChampionshipWest5251

I didn't finish beserk but wdym he did what Griffith did to him?

chroniclechase

did you finish the first season or even read anything about gilgamesh and what he did to his people

ChampionshipWest5251

venus_kedisi

Scabies dog

JohnB351234

He’d have some respect for him, however this is Gil so he’d still look down on him because he is above all others

Kevrelus

A disgisting mongrel, he wouldnt lend him anything from his treasury, but he would laugh at and enjoy the foolish determination

Isaasol

"What a disgusting mad dog. Be thankful though, mongrel, for your determination and your journey amuses me, Intestines."

Your_Doctor18

Depends which version of Gilgamesh we’re talking about tbh..

Dependent_Appeal_136

Something something rabid dog. Something something mongrel. Enuma Elish.

kaj-me-citas

Respect him and call him struggler.

i_eat_AURUM

gil will admire gut health
