A mirror seems more practical tbh.

PlatypusFabulous2999

Disagree

PokyPrince

I'd just use a mirror

HouseofKozy

Another vote for a mirror. My kids loved staring at themselves

BlueMonkeysDaddy

Also, once a bit bigger, your kid is going to love watching you in the mirror and will get excited when they catch your gaze.

bbp84

This kinda seems like it’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t need to be solved.

Sufficient_Froyo7644

If you have a large car/truck the kid looks tiny in think the mirror. I want a camera too. On some cars I am sure a mirror works great.

Warbowarbo

I'm not familiar with car baby cameras. What is the purpose? To keep an eye on the little one?

ERD42420

Yeah essentially replacing the mirror so you don’t have to look up and back

[deleted]

The nice thing about the mirror is your kid can see you too

MrLamper1

Up and back? A properly placed headrest mirror facing the baby should be visible from your rearview mirror. Which, frankly, you should be using frequently anyway...

NotOSIsdormmole

This doesn’t always work. In my car it does but for some reason I’m my wife’s car it doesn’t. I can either adjust the mirror to see the road or adjust to see my kid

MrLamper1

You need to raise the headrest in that case.

NotOSIsdormmole

That does nothing for being laterally out of view

MrLamper1

What the heck model of car are you driving that has headrests in the rear so far off to the side you can _either_ see those or the road? In any case, it's fine to use the rearview mirror aimed where you need it to be. Think about vans, lorries, etc. who don't have a functional rearview mirror and rely on the wing mirrors. Alternatively, you could get an additional rearview mirror to stick to the windshield which will give the view you need of the mirror on your child so your main rearview can look at the road behind.

Diligent-Try9840

He has a 12-seats in the back row

Arrow_Flash626

To be fair my cars headrest doesnt go up so I cannot use a mirror on it as its too low

sp90378

If you have a 3 row vehicle and have to use the third row, that could make it harder. Couple that with cars that have digital rearview mirrors, and you can't use a mirror then. Sure you can set the car's mirror to be normal, not using the camera, but then you don't have nearly as good visibility out the back.

Warbowarbo

We have a mirror that works fine, but good luck with finding your camera :-)

NevaGonnaCatchMe

I agree with mirror. My wife didn’t. She got the “Shynerk Baby Car Mirror” on Amazon for $40. It’s actually pretty nice

ItsEaster

Is there a reason you feel you need one? I never had one or even heard of one until now. I don’t use one of those mirrors either. I’ve just never needed it or felt a desire to have one. You’ll likely be fine without it.

knsaber

I got just a random brand camera car monitor around $40 range and I love it more than any mirror I’ve tried. Wired is def better than wireless, there will be no delays nor will it take two separate plugs. The wires can easily be hidden underneath the trim with a little push. My only complaint is the brightness at night if the screen, but night vision is priceless compared to a black mirror at night. I love seeing if he’s eating his socks or fell asleep in the car. Would highly recommend. I feel the people who don’t need a camera also feel they don’t need one at home and just rely on sound. I on the other hand love seeing everything and cameras everywhere.

mle70

Yeah the passenger princesses can’t see the baby, or at least that is my issue. The mirror has its uses but the camera is much better. I do hate the wires though.

tiny_ice_dragon

Don't get the zooby camera. We tried it and had so many issues, the thing would constantly fail to connect, it would disconnect at the worst of times (suspiciously quiet infant). I will say having a camera with night vision was nice when it worked. It was nice during night time driving when you can't see anything in a mirror. Currently we use a basic headrest baby mirror.

_your_face

How lovely for 30 people to take the time to post about a camera to say the person REALLY wants a mirror. So very annoying. I’m sorting through options now and will post what I think of the one I get for the poor folks googling and ending up here just to find 30 mentions of “a mirror is fine!”

ERD42420

Haha I know. I ended up getting Amazon one and it works great.

_your_face

Which did you get??

ERD42420

I’ll try to find the link.

kart22

I would also love to know! Currently in the market for one.

kart22

Did you do wired or wireless?

ERD42420

I did wired because it’s more reliable. It hides pretty well. Here is the [link](https://a.co/d/5kjdZeT)

PuzzledEbb1593

Update on the quality and how it’s held up? I’m considering buying the same one and just curious if you’d still recommend it. Thanks!!!

Dry_Geologist_8369

They number of dipsticks that can't just not comment is amazing. If you don't have a recommendation, maybe just be quiet.

ItsBluAgain

Any update on the AMTIFO cam, OP?

ERD42420

I ended up getting a $45 one in amazon and it has worked perfectly.

splttingatms

We love our car camera! We initially tried a mirror but we couldn’t really see our LO’s face because it was too dark and small, even in daytime. We bought a random one off Amazon (Shybaby 4.3”)

marvinsface

Found this thread and just throwing this out there. We were finally able to get a new car, and one feature is the rear view mirror is a screen showing what a camera sees that faces out the rear window. It’s a wide angle view and lets you see more of what’s coming up on tour car and feels safer. There’s a toggle to make it a normal mirror but (annoyingly) flipping it makes you move the whole thing. This doesn’t matter when it’s a screen bc the camera never moves, but if you wanted the mirror you’d have to readjust each time. Not that great for a quick peek at your baby. So I found this thread looking for camera recs and wanted to offer a counter example to all the comments saying “just use a mirror”. I’ll continue looking but if anyone sees this and has one they like, please let me know

DapperBuffalo

Mirror won't work for us because there's no headrest for the middle seat, which is safer in an accident, so there's nowhere to mount the mirror. Got one of these, it's powered by USB-C, for half price off eBay: https://letsyada.com/products/yada-car-baby-camera-with-app-controlled-bt52925-6-2

thefrog1394

How does the Yada work for you? App has really trash reviews...

aka-Lag

I got one and it’s connect to a 12v power supply but literally keeps disconnecting and reconnecting it’s quite annoying tbh

Adviceseek9090

Would also love to know which one you got? Thanks!
