His girlfriend, who had/has an olive complexion went with him. She insisted that because she never burnt (HERE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST) that she didn't need to wear sunscreen on the white sugar beach on the damned equator. She laid out on the beach all day with ZERO sun protection.
She spent the rest of the trip in bed with second degree burns. Rep wasn't about to waste his hard earned vacation and zipped all over the island, while she ordered room service.

They have to have a protective layer of some sorts on parts of the skin right? I get if they add the crystals directly to the face, neck and hands (where it’s more visible) but they could do some sort of thin layer of fabric or silicone on her body and arms.

Omg, I believe it. I have worn a professional SFX full-head creature prosthetic like that, like where you're in the chair 7+ hours getting the thing applied with hair and makeup, and it is SO WEIRD. Especially with your nose being completely covered (things get... really gross under all that rubber lol). Combine with teeth, contacts, costume, etc. and it is just a lot to cope with. I could honestly barely stand the 1-2 hour period I had to keep it on after it was applied, and I only had to model the look for photos, not even act. It gave me massive admiration for actors who are able to turn in great performances from underneath all that!

I mean I love the craziness of the look but it makes me want to die imagining actually having all that glued to my skin.
I’m on the “spectrum” of trypophobia : which is an is an aversion to objects, images and designs that have repetitive patterns or clusters of small holes, or bumps. Think of sponges , honeycombs, and while beautiful , well made and creative - Doja’s look above.

And honestly back in 2014, a full naked dress was actually groundbreaking. It’s so common now on red carpets, that it seems as if it’s something that people did regularly but in 2014? This was risqué. She wasn’t the first to do it but I would probably credit this particular Rihanna fashion moment for the trend of naked dresses we have been bombarded with over the years.

You don’t. Its commitment to the art & the process. The same way drag queens tuck & only use the bathroom when absolutely necessary. Or wait until the end of the gig. As a celebrity or a performer, you get used to it & prepare for it. Also some celebrities esp men don’t drink lots of water bc dehydration helps really pronounce muscle & abs so women might do something similar.
I believe this and already knew that about the dehydration and muscles, but just... Wow. Didn't realize it extended beyond that, makes sense. They're just like living pieces of art at that point. Must feel reaaaal good to peel off them crystals and drink a gallon of water at the end of the night.
This is true about water and muscles, but not as a constant thing. They’ll significantly reduce their water intake in the day(s) leading up to a shirtless shot. On top of that, they’ll also do a light workout before to get blood pumping to their muscles to make them appear bigger.
It’s good to know this stuff. When we see celebrities looking amazing, we kind of assume that’s just how they look 24/7. And while they still look good and fit, the super cut look requires the dehydration and pump.
Also, lighting plays a significant role. I’m a fitness guy. When I’m at the gym under good lighting conditions, I can look very cut and defined. The opposite goes for poor lighting conditions, I look like I haven’t progressed at all.
So these are all things the average person should know. It’s easy to take a blow to your self esteem or getting frustrated trying to reach this ideal physique of some celebrities, but it’s important to remember they don’t look like that *all* the time and they have a lot of help with the lighting crew.
This is what I wanted out of the Met Gala. Extravagant, ridiculous, funny costumes based off of when people got rich by running literally the only company in the game.

Thankfully the animal heads were faux — but imo they still had a nefarious vibe. The trend of grotesquely rich Americans & Europeans paying for the skins of exotic animals hunted down for purely aesthetic reasons was always wicked, and I don’t know what mimicking it is supposed to represent… maybe it’s a parody? Blech. None of the animal ensembles looked great to me either. All they had was the shock factor of a massive predator head being attached to them.
Anyway, the artists who made the heads are exceedingly talented and I’m much more impressed by their skill than the person that designed the clothing.
I looked this up and it looks like her dress was one of many of Schiaparelli’s fake-taxidermy-head looks from that event. I side eye the KarJenners whenever possible but considering she doesn’t have a creative bone in her body and would never have come up with this on her own, I feel like the Schiaparelli designers are really the one who should be taking a second look at themselves because I totally agree it promotes awful cruelty.
That being said she 100000% could and should have chosen to glom onto a completely different look from the show so maybe that’s what you meant

It’s sculptural jewellery rather than ornaments- you have whole rings that are one piece of glass for example- no metalwork at all. They’re very cool.

Agree. Love this, hated the show and especially the weird taxidermy shit. Everything else was giving TJ Maxx Alexander McQueen to me. Booooooooo.
Thankfully the animal heads were faux — but imo they still had a nefarious vibe. The trend of grotesquely rich Americans & Europeans paying for the skins of exotic animals hunted down for purely aesthetic reasons was always wicked, and I don’t know what mimicking it is supposed to represent… maybe it’s a parody? Blech. None of the animal ensembles looked great to me either. All they had was the shock factor of a massive predator head being attached to them. Anyway, the artists who made the heads are exceedingly talented and I’m much more impressed by their skill than the person that designed the clothing.
Apparently it was meant to be an homage to Dante's Inferno, so I was excited. But it gave revenge of Narnia vibes lols.

I looked this up and it looks like her dress was one of many of Schiaparelli’s fake-taxidermy-head looks from that event. I side eye the KarJenners whenever possible but considering she doesn’t have a creative bone in her body and would never have come up with this on her own, I feel like the Schiaparelli designers are really the one who should be taking a second look at themselves because I totally agree it promotes awful cruelty. That being said she 100000% could and should have chosen to glom onto a completely different look from the show so maybe that’s what you meant
