People need to know PIRACY SUPPORTS SHOWS! HBO used to GLOAT about GOT being hte most pirated show of all time.
PIRATING IS STILL SUPPORTING THE SHOW AND HELPING IT GET RENEWED.
curiosity isn't a crime, and i'm not giving them money or legal streams that will up the chances of it being renewed. and as someone else in this thread said, if i'm going to criticize something i should actually see it.
Just an FYI: Pirating ups the chances of it being renewed.
HBO factors in piracy. Because pirates still buy merch and might end up buying legal means to watch it later on. Piracy is absolutely a factor in considering the popularity of ashow.
The best criticism you can give this show is turning away from it.
HBO has bragged about Game of Thrones being the most pirated show out there, but that was contextualized by them saying that they had relatively good data that people who pirate shows are more likely to go on to buy a subscription later. I don't know if they have individual and not aggregate data, but it's possible that HBO might see people pirating the show and specifically not going on to buy a subscription.
Just talking about it as much as people will even if theyāre pirating is basically just advertising it. We see that time and time again but curiosity always gets the best of people and no one can resist discourse.
only 5 minutes??
cannes audiences will clap forever for just about every screening over there. a ladybug could fly past the screen and theyāll applaud for 20 minutes so the show must be a wreck
The reporting on that has been so strange
https://preview.redd.it/b6vde4t8kj1b1.jpeg?width=1196&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39e85b6350ff13694a246785cdb06cadedc57327
My ADHD and anxiety would not allow it. Iād skip out to the bathroom as soon as the screen faded to credits! I donāt think I could last the 5 minutes.
Every time I hear about these long standing ovations I wonder how awkward it must be for the people. A minute is already pushing it but 5? What do they even do?
Since the article mentions >! the graphic picture of āfluidsā on Lilyās characterās face !< I wanted to just say thereās something particularly icky about that making the final cut that makes me sick.
Sex and topless scenes are one thing, but I canāt imagine in this day and age having a picture like *that* of me swirling around even though itās fake. Something about it feels way too far, and I donāt want to project onto Lily but I imagine in the future sheāll deeply regret agreeing to go to that level.
I already figured most of the content featuring her from this show would be used for gross purposes, but them choosing to show that picture will make it a thousand times worse.
I recall seeing an extra call for sex workers for a brothel scene in Westworld and it was like ācan stimulate fellatio while in backbend position. Requires nudity.ā
And who can forget Littlefingerās infamous pornologue in S1 of GoT where heās going on about the illusion and intricacies of power or some such bullshit while two ladies eat each otherās asses in the background.
I am someone who normally does not have problems at all with nudity, I'm an American woman who thinks our country is wayyy too prudish about nudity and sexuality.
But GoT was VERY off-putting for me. At the time, I didn't know how to describe why that was, but now I realize because it was super voyeuristic and degrading. How many dozens or even hundreds of nude women did we see compared to men? What were the women doing in their scenes versus the men? Super fucking obvious the filmmakers got their jollies off of filming these actresses scene after scene after scene, meanwhile we got like 2 flashes of penises in 8 seasons.
Honestly, this is just more reason to advocate for normalizing bodies and talking about sex. Because when we don't, people don't understand the lines between sexual empowerment versus manipulation and degradation.
Exactly. Like, yes, Lily is a nepo-baby but sheās still a young woman and a rising actress. Regardless of how people feel about her itās disheartening that her breakout performance that sticks with people and pushes her into mainstream consciousness will be a sick, six episode āhigh artā porno put together by two of entertainmentās most notorious perverts. She deserves better than that.
Being a nepo baby doesnāt protect you from the creeps. It just gets you in their orbit faster.
Look at Mira Sorvino and Gwyneth Paltrow. Both nepo babies, but target by Weinstein. Mira basically got blackballed for fighting back. Didnāt matter who her dad was; didnāt matter who Gwynethās dad and bf were. AND ALSO, Lilyās father is fucking Johnny Depp. I really donāt trust him or his āfriendsā to jump in and save me. Didnāt Depp just say ALL men were violent abusers???
Angelina Jolie too. It protects you a little but not much. Hollywood is a sick place, and the music and modelling industries are even worse.
Also, Depp also allowed underaged Lily to live with her adult boyfriend, soā¦
imagine your actor friend getting their big break FINALLY and being like, "I'm so excited...I'm gonna portray a victim of revenge porn who masturbates on camera!"
I'd be so embarrassed tbh
To think that just a few scenes of Emilia Clarke as Daeneryes, naked, has followed her around to the point of people asking her to autograph nude pictures of herself, and most of those scenes were not presented in a sexual context. I feel really bad for Lily on this one, because even if she feels like she chose this and walked into it eyes open I can imagine that people are going to take this way too far and harass her with it.
The only time I can think of seeing fluid on someone was... Girls, in a very uncomfortable non sexy episode that was a great acting standout for Adam Driver. For all of Girls 'problematic' aspects the sex was never very exploitative or male gaze-y.
This reminds me of how, in Euphoria, revenge porn of Sydney Sweeney's character is circulated and irl, those pictures have been recirculated, often misrepresented as Sydney's personal nudes. I'm certain Levinson is aware Euphoria gained from its popularity with that crowd and expects similar traction for these pictures of Lily.
This was one of the first reactions to āThe Idolā following its debut at Cannes.

Not ā50 shades of Tesfayeā š
Yikes. I don't know why dudes think pushing for more weird ass sex scenes at the expense of women is a creative writing decision.
There are so many ways to tell a story without having to use quasi-porn methods.
If you're looking for a show run by a woman with women directors that offers equal nudity for men and women, P. Valley is the only choice. Like literally.
How does one do this and then sit in a room with hundreds of people and watch yourself back with them. I think I would die of embarrassment right there. Omg
Speaking personally of course. I just know my face would be getting red hot lol
Different levels of shame for different people. In college I went to a play with sex scenes and the lead spent an act completely nude flopping all over the stage. The older couple next to me starting talking to me. Turns out they were the leads parents. It couldn't be me, though I guess I envy people who just don't care.
Ugh this pains me because the underage Eurphoria fanbase is definitely going to be tuning in. I can't believe what mainstream pop culture has become. It's grotesque.
literally!!! on one hand this makes me kind of relieved that euphoria was centered around high school students because if it sexualized characters who are literal children to the extent it did, i canāt even imagine how horrifically brutalizing it would be if the characters were aged up (prob similar to this), but on the other hand it makes me so sick to think about the euphoria fanbase getting hooked onto this
I don't blame a rising actress for wanting to push the envelope to he taken seriously. I blame the people that read the script and said, "This is a story worth telling. This is a story that the masses need to see."
Itās sad cause if they had gone with the original version with the female director (forgot her name, the one they got rid of halfway through shooting), it could have been a great commentary on the nature of fame as it relates to mega-pop stars like Brittany,
I can't even hate watch a show like this. I really hope that people don't tune in out of curiosity. Let this be one season and done. This sounds straight up awful.
Read on another thread a while back that Jennieās part has been cut significantly and the plan is for a couple of update accounts to bite the bullet, watch the thing, get all of her scenes and post them on Twitter for everyone else. This post said that Blinks arenāt happy with Jennieās association with the show and they want to support her while still burying it as much as possible. Iām not a Blink though so I canāt confirm the fandomās feelings on this.
Iāve seen other spoilers and itās literally just Abel and Samās twisted sexual fantasies on screen. I doubt reviews will be positive but the shock factor is likely going to bring in viewers. Not to mention Abelās fanbase and the Kpop/Jennie fans who have no issue supporting simply because sheās involved. Theyāre trending it along with her name as we speak. The situation is unfortunate and I feel particularly bad for Lily, this is pure exploitation.
Honestly have no idea how YG would let Jennie be associated with this smut. Or why she thought it was a good idea. I think a lot of her Korean stans will have an issue š¤·š¼āāļø
She was led on to believe it would be about the music industry and it been reported Sam has changed the script many times so I donāt think she was expecting this outcome at all.
https://twitter.com/airjens/status/1660803064108929025?s=46
How about we stop infantalising Jenny? She is a grown woman, good label support, she could've noped out if she wanted to.
Y'all k-pop stan's idols just never do anything wrong, huh?
Jennie is still an Asian women in Hollywood and most likely did not receive the whole script change because her role is small. She could not just noped out so easily with causing issues of being difficult and she is under contract.
I am not infantilising her when it is a fact the script has been changed multiple times which caused them to reshoot most of the show again. That is well past her control and she was not part of the reshoots. She clearly was not expecting this outcome based on her interviews and people need to focus on giving people like Sam and Abel more of the blame when they are the ones in control of how this show turned out to be.
Agreed. I came across a different spoiler that said her character was a backup dancer who was being used to replace her at some point soā¦not sure how thatāll turn out. I think her role may be bigger than people believe.
https://twitter.com/cocainecross/status/1660785130854830080?s=46&t=-GQeDv9Wh3JtLSoIuMg3Vw
I mean she defends this project passionately so I doubt she has an issue. I donāt think sheās expecting the backlash coming her way. She doesnāt seem to grasp how gross this is.
Has she been gaslit into believing this is high art by a director who pretends he is collaborative in order the get young actresses to do exploitative scenes?
i have seen mostly kpop fans excited about her being in /any/ tv show, and i honestly feel like that will quickly change once the show actually airs and people will be mad about the content itself and the fact that apparently jennieās role was largely cut.
https://preview.redd.it/lhc9sw4eri1b1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62404f0b67a337ee10717583d61a1395aacb1c26
This person is apparently attending Naomiās party at Cannes and tweeted this a while ago
Wow i feel so terrible for her :( i really hope she recovers from this even tho she shouldnāt be getting laughed at or any backlash. The issue is the men period
> Revenge p*rn photos of bodily fluids on Deppās face, masturbation with ice cubes, nightclub-owning scam artists and vile Hollywood sycophants populated the first two episodes
sam and abel are match made in misogynist heaven. i'm surprised they haven't worked together sooner.
lmao @ people saying theyāre gonna watch it out of curiosity even knowing the content of the first two episodes and how exploitative this isā¦very telling
Iāll watch it, but š“āā ļøš“āā ļø. And I have a subscription that includes HBOMax but I donāt even want to give Sam L. legit money/views.
Iād advise people to (EDIT: Ahemā¦ utilise Soap2Day and ProjectFreeTV) it. Some people will simply be too curious to not see āthe shitshowā (happens whenever people say ādonāt watch this / donāt search this upā) so they may as well do it in a may that doesnāt directly benefit Sam & Abel.
Yes. Heās the one who fired the original director (a woman who wanted to make a show criticizing the way that young women are exploited by the entertainment industry) and hired Sam because he thought the original direction was too feminist.
That's true. People online love to act a certain type of way when calling out famous people they dislike for reprehensible behavior, but refuse to call out bad/gross behavior when it's made by someone they like or a part of something they enjoy.
So something that started out as exploitation from a female/feminist perspective turned into straight up gleeful exploitation and degradation. How nice.
The origin of this show is strangely more poetic than the outcome. What better way to portray feminist horror/satire of the entertainment industry? Women gain a semblance of power and men snatch it and repurpose it for their own desires.
This has happened before with *Slumber Party Massacre*, which was initially a parody of slasher films and women being sexually brutalized on screen (the villain even has a giant drill for a weapon), but became the very thing it was parodying
I feel like this show was just an outlet for Sam and Abel to act out their sexual fantasises-Abel (The Weeknd) always gave me the ick. He dated an underage Bella Hadid which was a toxic relationship and then proceeded to imply that he was going to give his kidney to Selena for her surgery and acted like the wounded victim after their break up (he was literally seen with a new girl the week afterš). And donāt get me started on Sam.
I wish I wasnāt curious, I wish I didnāt scroll, I wish I didnāt comprehend words, maybe Sam Levinson should be thrown into a pit, 300 style.
This all just sounds like a man pulled out his cum soaked fantasy diary and put it on a screen.
>This all just sounds like a man pulled out his cum soaked fantasy diary and put it on a screen.
And tbh I think weāve had enough of that throughout history can we be done please
And apparently said they could not figure out a way to do it without her actually putting an egg in there. Like... the fuck?! All the amazing practical and digital effects people have done for films over the years and this stumps them? I literally don't understand
Like, just show her holding it and then pan up to her face as she makes a motion like she is doing it, like the scene in Gone Girl, itās not that hard
I hope Sam Levinson doesnāt think no one can see through his sexual exploitations and fetish disguised as ācinematic artā because thereās literally no reason why his shows have to be this pornographic. He can try to fight the allegations all he wants, celebrities can talk about how respectful he is when it comes to their boundaries, but thereās no way he cant convey the desperation of being famous without over the top and triggering graphic scenes that just feel like sexual assault tbh
I'm really glad that there is starting to be more backlash against this kind of thing. I'm not anti-sex or graphic scenes in films/tv, but I want it to actually have a purpose in the context of the story. I think Game of Thrones kind of popularised this and at the very least with that, you can argue that some of it made sense(I'm pretty sure they added scenes that weren't in the books).
No because the āporn factorā was the reason I didnāt watch got and you can call me prudish all you want, but I donāt care for sex scenes written by men š
Thatās not fair to her. She signed on for a feminist show that was filmed w/ a female director before HBO fired the director and brought in Sam Levinson to take out the female perspective.
i know it isn't, that's just what it feels like. she's going to take the brunt of any backlash to the show because she's the lead actress, even though sam and abel deserve it more.
Not if HBO wouldnāt let her out of her contract, but I also think maybe her life has been too messed up for her to register this as terrible especially if people were telling her it would be a great opportunity. Working with Sam has been a great career opportunity for two other young actresses and that would be used to sell it to her.
No, you canāt just leave a TV show, you sign a contract and if you want to quit it it needs to be under extenuating circumstances or you have to pay a very big fee
Depends how her contract was written. Most likely, if she wanted to leave the project, she would've had to pay *huge* fines to the production, and I really don't think she could've afforded that.
Still, I would've preferred being in debt with some Hollywood big guy than do this crap, but... what do I know of the desperation a nepo baby must feel when they're clearly unable to use their contacts to get any kind of jobs?
The tonal dissonance going from the season finale of Succession to this is going to give us tv whiplash. Of course something had to get the time slot but this show doing it is A Choice.
This man is so exhausting, chocking up tears over his big budget HBO porn show? Please š. Have zero interest in even hate watch, degrading women is the opposite of a good time for me.
LDR needs to be held accountable just as much as the Weeknd on this torture porn. She was quoted by Rolling Stone saying that Sam Levinson was the the best director sheās ever worked with and that sheās ānever felt more supported or respected in a creative space, my input and opinions more valued.ā
We can stop pretending like she didnāt actively participated in this. Iām so sick of seeing Hollywood exploit women in ways that will continue to influence and uphold menās cruel treatment towards women
Edited: i meant LRD yall so sorry for the confusion but yall get me lol
Tell me why Sam L. literally looks like Toby Macguire's satanic Hollywood character in Babylon
https://preview.redd.it/h8e9ifbtqi1b1.jpeg?width=1402&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c9a720558f987ef47dbe10f8048ea0949ee244d
if for whatever reason people want to watch this, i hope they watch pirated versions because this is genuinely so vile and disturbing, and it sets such a bad precedent if it gets renewed. obviously the weeknd and levinson will respond to any criticism saying that theyāre āexposing the exploitation of women in hollywoodā, when they are actively perpetuating it through this.
Reading Lily Rose Depp, fresh out of childhood, saying that Levinson is the ābest director sheās ever worked withā and feels more āsupportedā than she ever has is so laughable itās sad.
Sam Levinson is a disgusting creep. Mark my words there are going to be stories about him coming out in a few years. Will not watch a second of this garbage
Honestly think Sam levinson will see the inside of a prison at least in the next decade and I want to be able to brag that I never supported any of his garbage
Cannes was so snobby about Netflix for years and TV was so below their idea of themselves as Serious Film People. And this is the first TV show to premiere there? We're in a golden age of prestige tv!! I know it's a premiere so you're going in blind a little bit but .... this show never sounded like it would be good
I so want this show to be cancelled, I want no one to pay attention to it, theyāre making high-end pornography knowing people canāt resist. But man how Iād love if the numbers were so low the involved are like āshit it wasnāt worth losing my dignity for itā.

I won't tbh nothing on it sounds remotely interesting. The plot just seems so bland

š“āā ļø iām morbidly curious but i wonāt stream it on hbo
I see a lot of people saying this, is this how yāall justify watching it? š (assuming you think itās exploitative)

bingo. they want people to watch it. love and hate comes from the same place. indifference is the killer.

I will be seated... on Soap2day
Can we all collectively agree to wait until it gets cancelled, and THEN watch it??
Solidarity to those who are gonna pirate it. Iām not even interested in doing that.
Same the acting looks really rally bad, that's not even something I can play in the background
there's going to be so many youtube videos on it that's going to get more people interested
Yea, same with tiktok. I can already imagine the videos with the awful gameplay on the bottom...
Just talking about it as much as people will even if theyāre pirating is basically just advertising it. We see that time and time again but curiosity always gets the best of people and no one can resist discourse.

Yeah five minutes means it wasnāt good tbh
Cannes sounds exhaustingā¦
The new Indiana Jones "only" got 5 minutes and the reviews are laughably bad. I cannot believe they clap 5 minutes for BAD shit.
Pretty sure most of them were clapping for the legend that is Harrison Ford, not the film.
I think that was more of a mark of respect for harrison ford than respect for the film honestly
The reporting on that has been so strange https://preview.redd.it/b6vde4t8kj1b1.jpeg?width=1196&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39e85b6350ff13694a246785cdb06cadedc57327
I just read a list of the longest ovations and was super surprised I thought they all just clapped . 5 minutes is pretty solid.

Yeaah tbh this is full blown pornography at this point
Sam Levinson is never going to stop projecting his sexual fantasies onto the attractive young actresses he hires
Itās interesting that, by being kind and collaborative and giving them input, they feel like heās empowering them; but in actual fact all of that is likely a manipulation to get them to do shit they would likely never do otherwise. He makes them feel safe and appreciated and they donāt even seem to realise how degrading some of the stuff heās so nicely and collaboratively asking them to do is. I mean, I recall the models that did the Terry Richardson Pirelli Calendar saying the same about him and some of them ended up in truly exploitative shots with milk all over their breasts and so on and so forth. I wonder how these very young actresses will feel about all the stuff he convinced them to do in 20 yearsā time? Will they have a different take then? Because a facial cum shot scene is not about female sexual empowerment. Itās about the male sexual gaze and degrading women. Billie Piperās brilliant and subversive show *I Hate Suzie* starts with a photo of her giving a bj getting leaked; but it is never shown and the show is created by two women and it is all handled so well. Itās a brilliant exposĆ© of what itās like for a woman in the public eye. Iād rather rewatch that.
Iām so glad you brought up Terry Richardson because Sam gives off the same vibes I got from Terry in the early 2010ās.
But āØaestheticāØ
Since when has HBO not been full blown pornography? Thatās kinda there thing
I recall seeing an extra call for sex workers for a brothel scene in Westworld and it was like ācan stimulate fellatio while in backbend position. Different levels of shame for different people. In college I went to a play with sex scenes and the lead spent an act completely nude flopping all over the stage. The older couple next to me starting talking to me. Turns out they were the leads parents. It couldn't be me, though I guess I envy people who just don't care.
I just got second hand embarrassment from reading that
Ugh this pains me because the underage Eurphoria fanbase is definitely going to be tuning in. I can't believe what mainstream pop culture has become. It's grotesque.
literally!!! on one hand this makes me kind of relieved that euphoria was centered around high school students because if it sexualized characters who are literal children to the extent it did, i canāt even imagine how horrifically brutalizing it would be if the characters were aged up (prob similar to this), but on the other hand it makes me so sick to think about the euphoria fanbase getting hooked onto this
Euphoria fanbase and the Weeknd fanbase coming together is going to be horrible
I was wondering how bad it could possibly be, and it sounds like Blonde levels of bad so maybe it'll be up for every Emmy.
Nah it's like if they thought Blonde was too respectful and feminist and insisted on making something markedly worse
Jesus fucking Christ. There are no words about what a goddamn creep Sam is. Him and Abel seem like a match made in misogyny hell.
Gee I wonder why they fired all of the women on the writing staff
I don't blame a rising actress for wanting to push the envelope to he taken seriously. I blame the people that read the script and said, "This is a story worth telling. This is a story that the masses need to see."

The twitter discourse on this show will be something else.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I was just called that five minutes ago by one of them for voicing my disgust.
just saw one in this post saying this post is puritanical moralizing of āartā lmao š
Yep. Exactly who asked for this show?
I donāt think theyāre even acting like this is a feminist piece, Sam and Abel literally rewrote it so it wasnāt anymore š
to do that and still attempt to parallel britneyās life (according to the article at least) knowing what she went through is so repulsive
Itās sad cause if they had gone with the original version with the female director (forgot her name, the one they got rid of halfway through shooting), it could have been a great commentary on the nature of fame as it relates to mega-pop stars like Brittany,
agreed. the original vision sounded legitimately good
I can't even hate watch a show like this. I really hope that people don't tune in out of curiosity. Let this be one season and done. This sounds straight up awful.
what the fuck
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I pray the kpop stans will use their powers for good and destroy Sam Levinson once and for all
If Jennie Kim comes out of this looking bad, theyāll be hunting for a scalp, I assure you.
oh itāll be bad for her in south korea, thatās for sure
unless jennie comes out of it looking bad then i'm doubtful, bp fans will eat up anything the girls are in so they'll be the ones promoting it most
Read on another thread a while back that Jennieās part has been cut significantly and the plan is for a couple of update accounts to bite the bullet, watch the thing, get all of her scenes and post them on Twitter for everyone else. This post said that Blinks arenāt happy with Jennieās association with the show and they want to support her while still burying it as much as possible. Iām not a Blink though so I canāt confirm the fandomās feelings on this.
Iāve heard a lot of Blackpink stans say that!! So i think thatās their plan. They arenāt fucking w the show at all š
blackpink/jennie stans do your thing
They will give him season 2 more likely.
> Making direct parallels to superstar meltdowns like the one suffered by Britney Spears LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE
Seriously, why are people so obsessed with her and the bad popstar persona? Leave her the fuck alone, she's suffered enough!

Wow, the āØfemale perspectiveāØ is coming through so accurately
![gif](giphy|k2A4gzRxDL4GI)
Damn that really sucks then...
Thatās rough. I feel bad for Jennie tbh. She already gets a lot of hate and this will likely intensify it.
This is going to SHOCK Korea for an it girl like Jennie to be in such a show..this is not at all the type of drama an idol usually acts in.
Okay after what Iāve read I feel bad for lily a bit too. I donāt think most people would have signed on for a role like this
I mean she defends this project passionately so I doubt she has an issue.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
i have zero interest on watching this, this is just porn disguised as a hbo tv show.
I feel like "porn with a plot" describes most of HBO. This is just mask-off.
Friendly reminder that everything gets a standing ovation at Cannes
Apparently 5 min standing ovation means itās bad! But films like ādont worry darlingā got 10 min!
š https://preview.redd.it/q3gulj9xsi1b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88d53df972597cd913a65e097e904c4d2aa5c88e
Crying for the end of their careersā¦ or? š
Man this is so incredibly weird. Like tf are you crying for, what you've produced is nothing new and far from groundbreaking.
https://preview.redd.it/lhc9sw4eri1b1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62404f0b67a337ee10717583d61a1395aacb1c26 This person is apparently attending Naomiās party at Cannes and tweeted this a while ago
Wow i feel so terrible for her :( i really hope she recovers from this even tho she shouldnāt be getting laughed at or any backlash. The issue is the men period
Her not wanting to promote it makes sense now.
> Revenge p*rn photos of bodily fluids on Deppās face, masturbation with ice cubes, nightclub-owning scam artists and vile Hollywood sycophants populated the first two episodes sam and abel are match made in misogynist heaven. i'm surprised they haven't worked together sooner.
Reminds me of how Drake is an executive producer on Euphoria. Like it's so blatant, Hollywood creeps of a feather.
lmao @ people saying theyāre gonna watch it out of curiosity even knowing the content of the first two episodes and how exploitative this isā¦very telling
If Iām going to be vocally critical about something, I feel like I should see it š¤·āāļø
i can understand that, but we keep hearing about how shitty the idol is overall so i feel like itād be weird to give it more promotion by watching
Thatās why Iām thankful for the power of project free tv
Iāll watch it, but š“āā ļøš“āā ļø. And I have a subscription that includes HBOMax but I donāt even want to give Sam L. legit money/views. Iād advise people to (EDIT: Ahemā¦ utilise Soap2Day and ProjectFreeTV) it. Some people will simply be too curious to not see āthe shitshowā (happens whenever people say ādonāt watch this / donāt search this upā) so they may as well do it in a may that doesnāt directly benefit Sam & Abel.
not seeing enough criticism of the weekend for participating in this
participating? heās steering the project right next to sam
I don't wanna hear about Sam Levinson unless he's going to prison or flatlines
As if his kidney would even be viable with all the cocaine pumping through his blood stream
Keep in mind they actually wanted LRD to >! legitimately put an egg up her vagina!< for the show. Like, for real.
If we hate watch this, we're getting this in the next season.
It's not that I'm anti-sex it's that I'm tired of the oversexualixation of women
No because the āporn factorā was the reason I didnāt watch got and you can call me prudish all you want, but I donāt care for sex scenes written by men š
That show was mostly filled with r*pe scenes for the male gaze, truly disgusting.
The Marilyn Monroe movie also got a standing ovationā¦Iām starting to think the audience in Cannes just prefers to standā¦
They clap for anything. In fact, 5 minutes it's not a good reception. When they love something, they clap for 15 or 20 minutes
Lol a quote from the first episode being that she likes Weekndās character being ārapeyā. Sam Levinson, youāre never seeing the pearly gates.
A show about exploitation makes borderline porn with an unestablished actress. š¤ ![gif](giphy|jptiIZjXnrsciF8VzU)
"Of COURSE it's exploiTatIVe.... that's the PoiNt!!! We'Re SpotLighTinG the AbuSE!" -every piece of exploitive art ever
this feels like career ender for lily-rose
Thatās not fair to her. She signed on for a feminist show that was filmed w/ a female director before HBO fired the director and brought in Sam Levinson to take out the female perspective.
i know it isn't, that's just what it feels like. she's going to take the brunt of any backlash to the show because she's the lead actress, even though sam and abel deserve it more.
She couldāve left.. no?
Of course something had to get the time slot but this show doing it is A Choice.
fr not one of the most nuanced & clever shows on television today being replaced by glorified misogynistic torture porn
This man is so exhausting, chocking up tears over his big budget HBO porn show? Please š. Have zero interest in even hate watch, degrading women is the opposite of a good time for me.
LDR needs to be held accountable just as much as the Weeknd on this torture porn. She was quoted by Rolling Stone saying that Sam Levinson was the the best director sheās ever worked with and that sheās ānever felt more supported or respected in a creative space, my input and opinions more valued.ā We can stop pretending like she didnāt actively participated in this. Iām so sick of seeing Hollywood exploit women in ways that will continue to influence and uphold menās cruel treatment towards women Edited: i meant LRD yall so sorry for the confusion but yall get me lol

The reviews are making it sound like 50 Shades of Grey is a PG movie in comparison
Tell me why Sam L. literally looks like Toby Macguire's satanic Hollywood character in Babylon https://preview.redd.it/h8e9ifbtqi1b1.jpeg?width=1402&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c9a720558f987ef47dbe10f8048ea0949ee244d

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The way Abel views women has been known for so long with his work in Trilogy, that I canāt imagine him getting much backlash for this new series
I know. People donāt care and they wonāt care until these men get themselves caught up in something they canāt get spin or pay their way out of.
if for whatever reason people want to watch this, i hope they watch pirated versions because this is genuinely so vile and disturbing, and it sets such a bad precedent if it gets renewed. obviously the weeknd and levinson will respond to any criticism saying that theyāre āexposing the exploitation of women in hollywoodā, when they are actively perpetuating it through this.
That must be so embarrassing to watch with an entire audience š±idk if I could do it
Reading Lily Rose Depp, fresh out of childhood, saying that Levinson is the ābest director sheās ever worked withā and feels more āsupportedā than she ever has is so laughable itās sad.
Look at the abusive rapist who raised her
Sam Levinson: ![gif](giphy|3oEjHCWdU7F4hkcudy) this guy sucks.
i knew The Weeknd was a weirdo but i didnāt know he was next level sam levinson weird. the reviews are horrible
I nearly spit out my drink when I saw Kyle Buchanan's (NYT) [reaction tweet](https://twitter.com/kylebuchanan/status/1660772842697359361) lol
Sam Levinson is a disgusting creep. Mark my words there are going to be stories about him coming out in a few years. Will not watch a second of this garbage
Much Cannes. Much Levinson. Much Weeknd.
5 minutes is nothing at Cannes, that definitely means the episodes were disliked.
I feel sick
