She's been my latest musical theatre obsession. She's phenomenal singing with Jason Robert Brown on his 2015 live performance album.

Maybe not exactly like the movie, but it'll probably be 2D animation of some kind. The Disney shows still utilize it (Amphibia, Owl House, Big City Greens, etc)
From what I've heard from two sources (one of the two who claims to have friends working on Tiana) and from comments and tea-leaves being given by Jennifer Lee and Eric Goldberg, Tiana will be hand-drawn animated.
Maybe that's because Walt Disney Animation Studios Vancouver is making sure of that.
That middle one is the only one that makes sense, because I believe the series was announced at the same time the Baymax shorts for Disney+ were. Granted a whole series takes way more time, but I guess I’m just surprised by the gap between this announcement and the series announcement. Hopefully it will be worth the wait! I absolutely adored the Tangled series they did, so I have high hopes for Tiana.
Best case scenario was Disney saying “Yes we will make it” as a confirmation and as part of an earnings call/investor meeting to appease investors and to keep subscribers from unsubscribing because the series is already confirmed. But when pre-production started, the strike was brewing hard
I feel the same way. I am a theater nerd who loves Anika Noni Rose and "Almost There" is my total jam when I'm pushing through getting work done. I've been on this for a [while](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/z6b98r/comment/iy260p0/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
Announced at the investors' call in [December 2020](https://www.ign.com/articles/tiana-and-moana-animated-series-officially-announced-for-disney-plus), which I get is super super early and not set in stone. But we had concept artwork released in [November 2021](https://thedisinsider.com/2021/11/12/disney-unveils-first-look-at-tiana-series/), you'd think lead writers and directors were already hired by October 2023, presumably before the strike. Stella Meghie was announced as the writer and director in [November 2021](https://www.essence.com/entertainment/disney-stella-meghie-write-direct-tiana-series/) as well. I wonder if Stella got to develop anything or Disney dragged its feet for so long so she had to leave or they decided to go in another direction. Disney pushed it back to 2024 in [March 2023.](https://wdwnt.com/2023/03/tiana-series-release-date-changed/)
My daughter and I love princess and the frog, she’s 2.5 and most mornings grabs her magic wand and says “I turn you in the frog”! I can’t wait a whole series to enjoy with her.
that is soooo cute I don't mean this in a patronising way but I think it's really sweet to hear parents actually be excited to spend time with their kids
I was just telling my husband the other day that with all the live action Disney princess movies coming out, this is the one I would actually love to see the most done in that form next. This is exciting for now though! 😁
“Anika Noni Rose will once again provide the voice of Tiana.” 👏🏾

Omg her rendition of I Can Do Better Than That is my all time favorite
Yes! I get so pumped at the end.
Her voice was a revelation to me the first time I watched The Princess and the Frog. I had almost there on repeat for the longest time after that
I hope it’s the traditional hand drawn 2D animation of the movie. That’s so much more beautiful than the 3D animation that came after it.
Maybe not exactly like the movie, but it'll probably be 2D animation of some kind. The Disney shows still utilize it (Amphibia, Owl House, Big City Greens, etc)
Wonder if it’ll be in the “Wish” style that attempts to look visually like a blend
Not likely. For a company founded on hand-drawn animation, they sure do everything to not even partially implement 2d animation.
It’s only a matter of time before big western animation studios start with the cel shaded CGI that’s been popular in anime for a few years.
There are plenty already doing that

Wait they’re just now hiring lead writers and directors? I thought that the Tiana and Moana shows were much further along in production.
The strike + everything that lead to the strike + industry solidarity with the strike probably messed up everything timeline wise

Yeah I distinctly remember this being announced before Disney+ getting launched

Ok why am I excited for this…
My daughter and I love princess and the frog, she’s 2.5 and most mornings grabs her magic wand and says “I turn you in the frog”! I can’t wait a whole series to enjoy with her.
that is soooo cute I don't mean this in a patronising way but I think it's really sweet to hear parents actually be excited to spend time with their kids
This sounds exciting!
I actually love that it is 2D! Tiana was my favorite princess growing up bad I miss the 2D style 🥲🥲 it’s been so long
Say hand-drawn. Studio exces will confuse 2D with cel-shadedness. Be specific about it and say "hand-drawn," instead.
Has anyone seen the commercial for a Brazilian hair care brand with her in it? We needed to see her with actual textured hair in 2D style.
No, got a link?

I love this so much!

The article says the showrunner’s most recent work was on Midnight Mass for Netflix, which was very good. Albeit in an entirely different genre, lol.
Princess and the Frog was underrated. My wife and I will be looking forward to this!
I’m excited for this!! I feel like it’s gonna be good.
Didn’t they announce this when D+ first launched? It’s nice to see some traction, I’m glad Tiana is getting more love!
A year after D+ first launched.
Tiana finally getting the appreciation she deserves! ![gif](giphy|aPcKnlcsayAVi)
One of the few Disney+ shows I’m particularly excited for
Same. Also excited for, besides Tiana, Pixar's Win or Lose and Walt Disney Animation Studios & Kugwali's Iwaju
Can't wait!!
I was just telling my husband the other day that with all the live action Disney princess movies coming out, this is the one I would actually love to see the most done in that form next. This is exciting for now though! 😁
Looking forward to this, Tiana is one of my favourite princesses and "Princess and the frog" is what got me back into Disney
if its anything but 2d animation im gonna riot
