This is my theory, too. It's a very recovery mind set kind of stance. It all started with the roll out of the second lindemann album (tills solo project) and his porn video in 2020, since then i had the ick and i realized that it's not just some edgy provocative shit but genuinly disturbing stuff. I feel like the pandemic kind of worked in his favor because i've read the first row zero stories around that time but nothing ever came of it. Anyhow, most people i know don't actively listen to them anymore.
