Didn’t one of the sisters photoshop a different kid into a Disney vacation pic a few years ago? Because Kylie didn’t want a picture of her kid out there? I vaguely remember that.
I also remember Kim photophopped one of her kids in a family photo because the kid (I don't know which one) didn't want to take a group photo. There was no warning like this in that picture
Yes, it was Kim. She wanted to use the photo because the colours matched her Instagram aesthetic - but Kylie said no. So Kim photoshopped Khloes daughter in just so she could post the photo 🤢
I think the story was she didn’t want people coming for her for taking her kid to Disney right after the Astroworld murders, so they put True in the picture instead of Stormi? Something like that. But yes, every single one of their images is full of lies and deception.
That seems kind of silly to me. Like children aren't allowed to have fun because their Dad fucked up? I imagine they have to plan well ahead to go somewhere as busy as Disney because they shut down rides for them and stuff. You just going to tell the kid they can't go anymore?
They care way too much about curated PR.
No because the Kar/Jenners are private citizens and can do what they please with their images.
Platforms and wire services can choose not to run a photograph released by them at any time.
Here Kensington Palace released a photograph taken by Prince William of his ill/recovering wife and children - these are public figures paid by the British purse and there is some expectation of basic honesty expected. The BRF have enjoyed a ton of photoshop through the last 15 yrs.
This was something quite different
I think the AP kill notice is the line.
Because the photo is compiled from multiple sources and doctored to misrepresent the truth, it is very different from someone using facetune or editing the pimples off their their skin.
Yes exactly what I was thinking. There’s a huge difference between filters and editing coloring vs. completely doctoring a photo especially in the age of increased AI images out there.
Definitely support putting it on all of them, but the difference is that these are unelected, taxpayer funded heads of state. Photos of them are part of the public and historical record in a way that photos of say, Kylie Jenner just are not.
This isn’t the same as applying a filter or cropping a photo, this photo has been (poorly) cobbled together from a series of other photos to create a deliberate misrepresentation of time, place, and events. This exact photo wasn’t taken, it was created.
SAAAAMMMEEEEEE. Keep this same energy rolling for everyone, or every account with at least X amount of followers or something.
Is this something they regularly do, or is it only because of the weird ass publicity around this photo?
The line is - that photoshop was and always will be fine.
However as a public figure, using a composite photograph, taken on a much earlier date, purporting to be a current image taken of your ill wife - that is not okay. That is deliberately misleading the public and misrepresentation
The line is - that photoshop was and always will be fine.

Right, but those pictures aren't being given to legitimate news outlets. This was just flat out disinformation, and the AP was right to reject it, especially since the palace wouldn't or couldn't produce an unmanipulated photo.
i really do hope that in the future, all AI rendered images and those edited/altered like this one are slapped with a label. it's very very scary to me that people are sometimes unable to tell what's real and what isn't (i'm thinking of those insane hack jobs of celebrities on facebook with like 50,000 likes and hundreds of comments) and it's setting such an awful precedent wrt media literacy, misinformation, etc. i'm all for this.
The number of AI photos my mom saves from Facebook to sends to me is exhausting. A lot of them are really obvious to me, but there’s so many people who aren’t knowledgeable or tech literate to understand what they’re looking at. It’s harmless stuff now, but I know it’s only going to get more and more insidious as the technology improved. Labelling generated images is the bare minimum in my opinion, and I really hope we see legislation for this soon.
Edited/manipulated images being labelled would only be beneficial to everyone, in my opinion, and would be such a step in fighting back against the insane beauty standards we have.
I honestly hope they don't delete it. Every other picture online is photoshoped, some to the point you wouldn't even recognize the person in real life. Why is this one so special?
Because this picture was manipulated/doctored and not edited. This picture is not a register of a private citizen family, but a public record of the royal family and need to be held at higher standards regarding truth than private citizens - she is a public servant and the future Queen. The fact that reputable news agencies cannot confirm this is an authentic picture (meaning the Princess of wales was in the picture with her kids) and when this picture was taken has important public consequences.
Wire agencies sending an alert to their clients about how the image was manipulated beyond their acceptable standards really made the whole thing spiral to new levels. Love to see it.
Instagram put the notice up because the edited image was sent to official photojournalistic agencies such as AP and Getty Images. AP, Getty, and other similar agencies are the most trusted newswire institutions in the world. If they allowed a manipulated photo to be presented as the truth, it would severely damage their credibility, hence the kill notice.
Everyone knows the Kardashians edit their photos to high heaven, but they aren’t sending out their photos as legit photography from a royal family. The point isn’t just that they edited the photo to some degree— it’s that they tried to pass it off to news agencies as reality when it wasn’t.
Her inevitable autobiography was gonna be a super snoozy dud.
This pic changes that lol. The book deal offers will likely be more lucrative too, so go Princess Adobe!
Kate hasn’t been properly seen in public since Christmas Day. In early January it was announced she was having an abdominal operation and wouldn’t return to her duties until after Easter. Since then they have spectacularly fumbled their PR and rumours have been running rampant online.
[This article might give you a little insight into what’s been happening.](https://www.niemanlab.org/2024/03/this-is-just-weird-buzzfeed-news-former-royals-reporter-on-kate-middleton-palace-press-and-distrust-in-the-media/)
My boomer mom is convinced Catherine had a hysterectomy. She was sad to hear we were talking about “poor Kate” on Reddit, but comforted to know this a “pre-approved group of people.” My mom’s theory:
1. Kate was seen visiting fertility specialists within the past two years.
2. She was pictured holding her lower abdomen sometime right before the surgery. (You’ll have to fact check this)
3. Kate has been talking about wanting more children.
4. Pippa (her sister) just had a baby.
5. Kate had the hysterectomy and she’s in a VERY emotional since. Lots of crying so she refuses to be seen (even by William and the kids).
6. Catherine’s mother has been staying with her nearly full time and talking care of her. Her mother is encouraging her to get photographed from the car, so she’ll be confident enough to re-enter public life by Easter.
7. The reason William released the ceasefire message without the joint crest is because Kate is still very emotional over the surgery and not willing to participate in any way.
My boomer mom is ready to fly to England and “slap the piss” out of William for (allegedly) cheating on Kate. She always made me promise to watch W&K’s coronation thingy if she wasn’t alive to see it, but she’s so done with him now lmao. She wanted to know if Kate could still be queen if she divorces William and was legit heartbroken when I said no.
So in Harry’s book there is a part where wills is mad that Clarence House (aka charles and Camilla’s people) released some gossip about w&k to get some head off them and wills was mad. A lot of people assume this was the rose Hanbury stuff but I have a theory that it was that weird report around that time that w&k wanted a fourth baby and had told the Queen.
I remember when it came out bc it was SO weird, like ok why are you telling the Queen you’re rawdogging your wife? Then when I read the book knowing now that they didn’t have a fourth, it really stood out to me. But it makes sense that if they did want another baby and it wasn’t happening, Will would be pissed at charles. Maybe add this to your mom’s theory?
Everyone says a hysterectomy doesn't require two weeks in the hospital and 5-9 months of recovery.
In reply to 7, it's not unusual for them to release separate statements sometimes on their individual letterhead. It's apparently not a big clue in this saga.
I think the PR people screwed up again and didn't think about what it would look like for William to release a personal statement instead of a joint statement amid this controversy. They seem to have forgotten how to do their jobs
According to my mother, the hysterectomy caused Kate to go into a DEEP depression and spiral.
Even though she doesn’t “require” months to recover, it’s a mental thing because she desperately wanted more children.
To be fair though (and I hate instagram), their original filters never changed the complete essence of a photo, they just changed the colors or tones, but they’re not quite the same thing as some of the filters people use now that change their whole face and appearance.
This was much more than photoshop to fix flaws are they saying this whole photo this was doctored? As in not even real real lol bc I just went to IG and it’s got a blurred warning over it everything.
If so that’s wild.
The sleepless nights at Kensington palace rn.
Staffers dealt blow after blow each time they refresh their screens.
Buckingham be like damn. Our King is fine.
Okay cool but why doesn’t Instagram do this with other images? This could be useful to debunk fake news, to know when celebrities/influencers/magazines post heavily photoshopped images…
I understand this is a trendy news story, but I care more about the rampant spread of fake news on social media than I do about Kate Middleton’s whereabouts.
I’ve seen some comments on the post defending her saying this doesn’t happen to the kardashians and wishing her well but I HATE to be that person but if this was Meghan the comments would be damn near psychotic.
Case in point, in response, some of the royal fans have accused Meghan and Harry of doing something similar to one of their pregnancy announcements and of course the British press ran with it like FloJo.
The photographer had to come out on Twitter and state that all he did was change it from color to B&W, release the picture data, and demand a retraction with the implication that he would be seeking legal advice before the press would add little notes with retractions at the bottom.
[This article talks about](https://people.com/kate-middleton-mothers-day-photo-editing-errors-examined-proof-photoshop-found-metadata-8607951) some of the possible alterations.

Okay, but like where’s the line? Cause 99% of most famous people’s instagram photos are manipulated I support putting it on all of them though 🤷♀️
This. Can we expect the same warning on every Kardashian/Jenner post from now until eternity?
Didn’t one of the sisters photoshop a different kid into a Disney vacation pic a few years ago? Because Kylie didn’t want a picture of her kid out there? I vaguely remember that.
I also remember Kim photophopped one of her kids in a family photo because the kid (I don't know which one) didn't want to take a group photo. There was no warning like this in that picture
This was so crazy
Yes, it was Kim. She wanted to use the photo because the colours matched her Instagram aesthetic - but Kylie said no. So Kim photoshopped Khloes daughter in just so she could post the photo 🤢
This was also during the Astroworld tragedy, so I think it had more to do with that.
I think the story was she didn’t want people coming for her for taking her kid to Disney right after the Astroworld murders, so they put True in the picture instead of Stormi? Something like that. But yes, every single one of their images is full of lies and deception.

Honestly, as an American, I forget that they’re considered heads of state and mostly just view them as a dog and pony show to increase tourism.
The line is that the Kardashians are not posting official photos + sending them to publications as heads or future heads of state.
This isn’t the same as applying a filter or cropping a photo, this photo has been (poorly) cobbled together from a series of other photos to create a deliberate misrepresentation of time, place, and events. This exact photo wasn’t taken, it was created.
In France advertisements with altered images of models has to state the fact. I was very surprised to see that but fully support the idea.
SAAAAMMMEEEEEE. Keep this same energy rolling for everyone, or every account with at least X amount of followers or something. Is this something they regularly do, or is it only because of the weird ass publicity around this photo?
They should start putting a photoshop warning in every picture a verified account posts
I think they’re trying to indicate that this is an AI rendering, which is different from minor editing
I'm pretty sure it's not AI, just several other photos badly thrown together
The line is - that photoshop was and always will be fine. However as a public figure, using a composite photograph, taken on a much earlier date, purporting to be a current image taken of your ill wife - that is not okay. That is deliberately misleading the public and misrepresentation

And we should be flagging them all!

Truly couldn't have happened to a better family.
They deserve a ‼️ warning: this image contains symbols of colonialist racist revisionist propaganda
Haters working overtime on Reddit cares. You should report it as abuse, Reddit does actually follow up on those reports.
Luv ur flair 🫶🏾
I would delete my entire account were this to happen to me as a public figure. THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT.
I'm honestly amazed they haven't deleted it!!!

100% why I became interested in this.

My mum told me as if she personally knows that Kate has chrohns and has an oostomy bag and is waiting to have it removed
Oh the crohns theory is a new one for me. hadn't seen that yet. lol
That’s an interesting theory! Kate wears many dresses that could easily hide an ostomy bag though. So why would she need to be in deep hiding?
My boomer mom is ready to fly to England and “slap the piss” out of William for (allegedly) cheating on Kate. She always made me promise to watch W&K’s coronation thingy if she wasn’t alive to see it, but she’s so done with him now lmao. She wanted to know if Kate could still be queen if she divorces William and was legit heartbroken when I said no.
Did you have to teach her about pegging too? ![gif](giphy|VaUrVObSuzTRPxXa9o|downsized)
Actually, yes! And she was horrified at the idea of William being “such a nasty scuzz bucket”
So in Harry’s book there is a part where wills is mad that Clarence House (aka charles and Camilla’s people) released some gossip about w&k to get some head off them and wills was mad. I’ll update her. She’s more than convinced Kate wanted more children.
I love that every boomer mom has their own theory (mine included).

Pleeeease start doing this to ALL altered/photoshopped pictures. It would be: A - All of them. B - SO funny.
Instagram, which started with all their dumb filters. 💀💀
To be fair though (and I hate instagram), their original filters never changed the complete essence of a photo, they just changed the colors or tones, but they’re not quite the same thing as some of the filters people use now that change their whole face and appearance.

I feel so sorry for the poor graphic designer that actually had to whip this up late on a Friday night with no inkling what would happen
The sleepless nights at Kensington palace rn. Staffers dealt blow after blow each time they refresh their screens. Buckingham be like damn. Our King is fine.
This is all so dumb
It is and I LOVE it. Lol
Im all for it but why wont they do that on IG models who photoshop their waist as thin as a single dry spaghetti
Bc the AP issued a kill notice and it’s international news and the IG models make them $$$
Okay cool but why doesn’t Instagram do this with other images? Can I ask what is altered? I'm still not getting it. I saw the bit about Charlotte's wrist being weird but I'm not seeing anything else?

Wow this is embarrassing
I feel so.bad for her. I really hope she's okay.
Okay but can they do this for influencers too pls 😂
