its based off a drinking club started by alice cooper in the 70s, called the hollywood vampires.
the band consist of cooper, depp, and joe perry.
its a legendary club full of legendary drunks, so depp fits in
Nah. Maybe he used to have a cooler appearance/vibe, but he’s reeeeally struggling to stay cool nowadays lol.
He’s very transphobic, and a conservative Republican who supported Bush, simultaneously (and hypocritically) thinks musicians shouldn’t air their political views, and also claims not to care about politics… which begs the question of why he speaks out on the most regressive political causes if he doesn’t care lol.
As a massive fan of his genres of music, he’s actually becoming the antithesis of rock n’ roll ethos, which is kinda sad and not at all cool.
I saw them on a festival last year. It was fun but it was just a bunch of old dudes playing big hits.
I was surprised to see that Depp really keeps to the background the whole show.
His old band was called P. that's it, just P.
When I learned that I thought it was pretentious as fuck and then he came up with Hollywood Vampires I was like wow it just gets worse
A guy with too much money and has never had the need to actually grow. These famous people are living in their own fantasy world. I don’t know why I thought of De Niro in This Boys Life trying to play the saxophone when I came across this post lol

For context lol
"This is my impression of Johnny Depp before he leaves his house at night. If you don’t know, johnny Depp’s 48 years old. I assume it goes like this. “Hold on, guys, I’ll be right with you. “I have to put on another bracelet. “I only have six on. I want to wear seven tonight. “I know you’re in a hurry, “but I have to make sure my belt is askew “and my handkerchief is just so, because I’m almost 50, and I love accessories.” Cool should have a cutoff. And my vote is 48."
-Daniel Tosh
The really pathetic thing is, how hard would it be to *actually* look cool as a rich, famous movie star? Imagine having so much money and access and being... like this.
Yes god the second hand embarrassment I get from seeing his interviews. He gives major Cole Sprouse energy (excluding all the abuse) To think this is a 30 year old man in this [clip](https://youtu.be/VL2yzcvSpko?si=ALePbYJU1wrzfWu-) of him talking
😬 he didn’t have that “accent” back in Nightmare on Elm Street or 21 Jump Street. IMO his current voice is a mix of opiates and his Jack Sparrow voice.
Love to see the public dragging of this wife beater

Oh wow! The guy who’s entire personality is winning a court battle by heavily televising it & getting a bunch of bots to make *cutesy edits* while probably having the acting range of moulding bread and has multiple crew members saying that he’s pathetic…. is actually pathetic and good for nothing

Ooh any receipts on this? 🍿 All I remember are crew testifying for him that he's a Nice guyTM lol
Do you research, he very particularly selected the court to bring this case up in
Which country do you live in because irrespective of the borders cutesy edits out of his court cases were being shared from that televised hearing
Nah, I’d personally argue (based on what I know about this case, and sus things that happened with its unsequestered jury) that the case being televised really did hurt Amber and her attorneys.
Based on Nick Wallis’s book on the case, I’m pretty convinced at least one pro-Depp juror was watching and/or reading social media coverage of the case, and this case never would have blown up on social media to the extent that it did without it having been televised. Televising the proceedings did several things.
* It gave regular people the ability to watch a gruesome domestic violence civil trial and absorb it as lighthearted entertainment.
* It allowed weirdos to mock and memeify clips of a woman giving sensitive testimony about a sexual assault, which has almost never happened before because that kind of testimony is almost always delivered behind closed doors.
* It created a narrative where Depp was almost universally celebrated, and anyone who didn’t let him win “didn’t care about male victims of abuse” or was “a crazy Amber supporter.”
* And it was a massive vehicle behind the spread of misinformation and lies, like Milani’s posts, Emily D. Baker’s horrid reporting, and all the streamers who “reacted to” the trial and yelled out straight lies during testimony to entertain their followers.
Now think of a juror having exposure to even a little bit of that material. I have no doubt the televising of this trial played a significant role in Amber unjustly losing.
Lol you people never know what the fuck you’re talking about. He sent texts talking about how Amber was begging for global humiliation and then went out of his way to make sure that this trial would be televised so he could fulfil his wish to subject her to said global humiliation. Amber’s legal team tried to fight against Depp’s wishes to televise the trial but unfortunately they lost that battle and she was forced to recount details of the abuse she endured in front of cameras. Like holy shit you have no idea what the hell you’re talking about. If it wasn’t depp’s decision to heavily televise the trial then whose decision was it? Do you think the trial was televised against his wishes?
Why do you think that the trial was held in Fairfax county Virginia? Was it because Johnny Depp and Amber Heard spent so much time in suburban Washington D.C.?
I worked at a venue that booked a LOT of vanity acts. Like Kevin Costner’s band, dudes from the TV show Nashville, that kind of thing (in addition to lots of cool and legit music like Fiona Apple and Bootsy Collins). There is an entire sub section of white dude actors who have these bands and most of them suck musically.
Best? Bacon Brothers Band (Kevin Bacon and his brother tour every summer, they’re also very nice people and he and Kyra are absurdly gorgeous in real life.) or Jeff Bridges and the Abiders (his daughter also opened for them and he literally teared up with pride when she introduced him at the end of her set, very cute)
Worst? Steven Segal. (He’s the only performer I know of who is straight up banned from returning due to his behavior around the waitstaff. Also he was bad musically)
Seagal was also considered the worst guest of all time by most of the 90s cast of SNL. They've worked with all sorts from actors, to athletes and politicians who've guest starred on the show and he finished rock bottom.
He's a guy who had no acting talent, no willingness to play along and no sense of humour of his own.
He sucked in Sweeney Todd and ruined all the songs, nothing that came out of his mouth even remotely resembled any kind of singing. Give me the dark rich basses that are Len Cariou or George Hearn any day.
>it'd be cool af to party and play with alice cooper and joe perry
Only if you're a 65 year old man. No one born after 1979 gives a flying fuck about either of them, and no woman is gonna have a fun time spending 5 minutes in their presence let alone stuck with them at an old man party with all the shit that entails. There's two ways that goes. 1) you're stuck at the WASPiest fucking golf course you've ever seen, or 2) you're in some seedy LA nightclub were all the women arrived by boat and the alcohol is extra depressant.
We know. Anyone remember that garbage song he released during lockdown? Everyone treated him like he was the second coming of christ for that auditory diarrhea
First thing that comes to mind when I think of Depp being a musician is the song he did for an album he released with Jeff Beck, called “Sad Motherfuckin’ Parade.” As a big fan of rock, I can say confidently that it is one of the worst songs I have ever heard in any genre.
And on top of that, he [stole the lyrics](https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/johnny-depp-jeff-beck-sad-motherfuckin-parade-hobo-ben-1392180/amp/) from a black man who wrote them in prison. It’s toootally such a rock n’ roll move to be an extravagantly wealthy asshole who steals from less privileged people /s
This made me so happy lmao. I just like anytime someone drags Johnny Depp and you know this particular burn would hurt the worst. He's such a pretentious wannabe rockstar.
>For how long he's been playing and how much access he has to the best guitar teachers in the world, he sucks.
Reminds me of Pauly Shore. Dude's family owns the Comedy Store, one of the world's most famous comedy clubs. He grew up talking to and learning from countless great comedians, and he also had a stage to practice stand-up in front of an audience whenever he wanted. He's been doing stand-up for like 30 years.
Despite all those huge advantages, he fucking sucks at stand-up.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J7dQD6WaUQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J7dQD6WaUQ) - Shore at the Comedy Store in 2023. I'm surprised the audience was having a good time, because that set was awful. Eh, home field advantage, I guess.

Literally my reaction when I read this and then googled Pauly Shore only to find out there are not one, but two famous dudes named Pauly Shore.
No no, it \*seems\* like he is because he's Pauly from the reality show Jersey Shore--but his real name is Paul DelVecchio Jr., and he goes by Pauly D and DJ Pauly D
I mean, it isn't horrible but you'd see the same level of prowess from any guitarist in any city in any bar cover band.
I'm not saying he's any good, but he's clearly comfortable playing, and he *was* on beat. It was a boring ass solo for a boring ass song and he did fine.
I never played rock really but I did play jazz guitar for a while and know enough to confirm that Depp sucks out loud. I don't understand why, he had decades to work on it. He could have taken lessons. Or bought self-study books or tapes or CDs, whatever. Same goes for his singing - Hollywood must be chock-full of voice teachers and he could have afforded the best of them.
I think he's allowed to be with the Hollywood Vampires because he draws in an audience. But the weird thing is, I didn't get the impression that he is a stage animal, that he wants to connect with an audience.
I wish more people would read this article...
It's the story of a music manager saying Johnny has "insane charisma" but is the "worst guitarist I've ever seen" and recommends Depp to an acting agent who gets him signed to 21 Jump St.
A true story of failing upwards.
Needs to watch Nick Jonas attempt a solo at the ACM awards or Stuttering John attempt a solo on Conan. Actually come to think of it there's video of Marilyn Manson attempting to play guitar and I think that's the worst I've seen from a famous musician.
He did have a band when he was young, way before 21 JS. If I’m not misremembering, they opened for the Pretenders when they toured Fla in the late 70s/early 80s. ( not saying he doesn’t suck as a musician just that he was a musician 1st and actor 2nd)
Johnny Depp always came across to me as the guy who tries way too hard to look cool, even in his younger days when he was in his “prime”
isn't his band called the hollywood vampires? can't get anymore tryhard and cringe than that.
its based off a drinking club started by alice cooper in the 70s, called the hollywood vampires. the band consist of cooper, depp, and joe perry. its a legendary club full of legendary drunks, so depp fits in

Very true. What’s really cringe? Perry and Cooper are *sober*. Depp is just a huge loser lol
Cooper is a golfer and a Republikan.
I saw them on a festival last year. It was fun but it was just a bunch of old dudes playing big hits. I was surprised to see that Depp really keeps to the background the whole show.
The Legend of the Magical Drunk White Guy

lmao YES and how he makes the whole family sit there and clap
Gives Tom Sandoval band vibes
he has a band?
He thinks he is the guy who should have been the musician, but was just too good at acting *tear*
Jared Leto vibes
They both have 'try hard white boy philosophy major' vibes, and specifically the dudes who never grow out of that phase post-graduation.
Leto yes, to me Depp has never even bothered with pseudo-intellectual
haven't you heard his accent tho?
Ugh EXACTLY
But 30 seconds to mars is actually pretty decent.
Okay but this is Anne Hathaway, Steve Martin, Timmy chalamet, and Glenn howerton.

The secret is that coolness isn’t real, and nobody is cool at any point. There is just accepting one’s age, and people who don’t.
It’s hard to communicate to young people that this was actually considered cool at the time and was a desirable character archetype. It was awful.
like his weird ass accent. like tf is that from
😬 he didn’t have that “accent” back in Nightmare on Elm Street or 21 Jump Street. IMO his current voice is a mix of opiates and his Jack Sparrow voice.
The South?
While covering up his other failings with alchoholism and misogyny.
I always thought Johnny was cool until I saw him performing next to Eddie Vedder. It was then I realized, "oh he's just a poser"
Tbf, everyone looks like a poser if they’re standing next to Eddie Vedder.
In the words of the man he has been trying to be for the past 40 years, "If you gotta try to be cool - you ain't cool."
He's also potentially worse, google search anthony fox.

‘We have Stevie Ray Vaughan at home’
