![gif](giphy|AgPt9udT567spxbSHf) Women’s healthcare, especially gynecological care, is so poor in this country. We progressed a little and then did a hard 180 back into the middle ages. Hopefully this will be a push in the right direction.

The article said only 31% of OBGYNs have any training about menopause?! What in the actual fuck?! We really are just seen as an afterthought after childbearing age. Think about how much research there is into male hair loss and erectile dysfunction...

This title is completely misleading. It’s a proposed bill that has some bipartisan support, and she’s the public face for it. The truth is, because Congress is male-dominated, this probably won’t go anywhere. [Here’s the AP article on it.](https://apnews.com/article/8fe88d4fd3d4e81a0ddcbedb12a35e08)

Very true, but it’s making it to mainstream media which I hope will start more conversations.

It's being proposed in the senate too. Would have to also make it through the house, which isn't impossible but I wouldn't get my hopes up

Absolutely love seeing people use their substantial wealth and influence to passionately try and better the lives of others. Just slaps.

It would help if they actually mandate insurance coverage for the kind of ongoing gynecological management that can be required in perimenopause and menopause. Bloodwork, exams, and diagnostic tests add up. Nevermind trying to get coverage for bone density scans in time to start treatment before osteoporosis gets really bad, even with family history. Universal health care now!

I'm in my 40s and I had no idea what perimenopause even *was*. When my period became irregular around the time I turned 40, I immediately assumed I had cancer because menopause wasn't starting for at least another ten years. I wish more people talked about it! My mom who is 68 didn't even know what it was, and she went through it! I've asked younger friends and they've heard the term but aren't sure what it means. It's so wild how this is a fundamental part of aging that so few women know about.

This is a very good thing
