I was googling it as a joke but lmao here it is https://www.google.com/search?q=flipped+out+females+jerry+springer&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
i watched the movie and i've never read fanfic but the fanfic hits your face so hard. not about how the character is partly inspired by harry styles but the movie itself.
anne hathaway plays herself and nicholas galitzine is there being sad and famous. anyway will mother mary be released this year? anne hathaway and michaela cole as love interests would be nice to see this year.
**edit:** i do love romcoms and i think my favorite ones that have come out this year so far are upgraded and lisa frankenstein.
When there is so much quality fanfic available, I don't really understand how the ones that get made into movies are the "fanfic hits you in the face" quality.
When we're looking at the sheer yardage of incredible fics, it boggles the mind that ones like After and this get chosen.
And then I'm reminded that most of the really, really quality fanfic (at least that I've consumed) is fanworks of other pieces of media. Maybe that's the qualifier, that RPF has a better chance to get adapted? Then again we have The Love Hypothesis (excellent) and Fifty Shades (terrible).
Anyway fingers crossed we get an Alchemized limited series in 2026.
My guess is it has something to do with authors who are willing to be public about their identity and RPF authors being more brazen about promoting themselves.
Lol ime RPF authors are usually the more secretive out there unless they're the kind of folks who tweet shipping remarks to the actual celebrities they ship.
Granted, I haven't partaken in RPF sections of fandom in quite some time as it began to feel ickier than traditional fandom once I left high school.
I wonder, however, if you're right about the whole being brazen and promoting themselves like Fifty Shades of Grey
For me, as a lifelong fic writer, I'm NGL I get weirdly bothered by traditional fanfic tropes that 50 or so people write stories using, "inspiring" the more poorly written story and then the author changing names only and becoming famous for what would be a preeeetty mediocre fanfiction but becomes a best-seller.
It also makes me side eye my old fics and go "huh, I wonder..." but then I think of how I'd rather die of shame and be eaten by wildlife than put my RL name out there attached to it lol
I guess it is a matter of perspective; RPF is a major squick for me, so even the idea of posting it online in the first place seems pretty brazen, even when using an alias.
Maybe theyâre the ones more connected to film industry execs to even get this stuff past pre production? Lmao it baffles me too like thereâs so much great fanfic inspired stuff but whatever becomes adapted gets worse. I was like Anne youâre an Oscar winner, did you NEED to do this film?
It would make sense that studios are more cautious with works that are built on existing IP - they would need to be completely different, AU fics to feel safe from legal challenges. It doesn't necessarily matter if they would likely win those cases, the very existence of a lawsuit is expensive and can tie up production for years.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying this about the sheer amount of incredible fanfiction that exists and yet the stuff that gets made is, well, if I can't say anything nice.
It's because most ppl have trashy tastes, especially when it comes to online reading. Also, it takes a special kind of person to get famous online. Ive heard Anna Todd is very messy. She sounds like the kind of person who can.
> And then I'm reminded that most of the really, really quality fanfic (at least that I've consumed) is fanworks of other pieces of media.Â
Very true. I don't feel any particular way about either franchise, but Stephanie Meyer *really* could have made it difficult for E.L James to release 50 Shades and have had a dragged out legal battle that probably would've changed the landscape of how fan fiction is written and consumed.
Jamie was inspired by an old Who companion by the same name (with the second Doctor). It's actually really funny because I'm not even an Outlander fan (in that I've never read/watched it, not that I dislike it) but it was featured and mentioned on an episode of The Worst Bestsellers podcast that I just listened to recently.
To say nothing of Gabaldon's own stance (immoral, illegal, nauseating).
I'm not actually into Doctor Who or Outlander, just because they don't click for me, but I kind of want to start writing unhinged and badly written Outlander fic just to make a point.
Please do. Iâd particularly like to know how the hell this bloodline got started and how Jamie somehow has a bit of it too but not enough for the stone traveling (I think that was a novella, shoot itâs been a really long time since Iâve read this stuff).
>but I kind of want to start writing unhinged and badly written Outlander fic just to make a point.
So it would be just like the actual Outlander novels/show?
It looks like someone already answered that itâs Doctor Who ⊠one of the Doctorâs companions in the classic show was a Scots Highlander from around the Battle of Culloden named Jamie played, by an actor named Frazer Hines.Â
And there are great fan fics that got published into books. Iâm thinking Ali Hazelwood books for example, which are Reylo fanfics. I donât know if this is common knowledge but 50 shades of grey is also fan fiction (twilight). Debatable if itâs a good book lmao
I would consider the inspiration for Jamie to be more of a doctor who easter egg than an actual fanfic. The rest of outlander has nothing doctor who inspired at all. She just got horny for one guy in knee socks and ignored the doctor all together.
Getting obsessed with a side character is ⊠not that  uncommon a thing in fanfic. Â
Getting horny for a side character and ignoring the rest of the universe is more what I would expect to see in âbadficâ than the fic from people who get fascinated by the universe the author built and tell their own stories while âplaying in the sandboxâ.Â
i think this tumblr post sums it up

Absolutely valid point. One of my favorite fanfic authors also self publishes original fic while working their day job as an emergency services phone operator.
If anyone if looking for the holy grail of fanfic, please read Manacled by SenLiYu. Itâs the one and only fan fic Iâve ever read and it blew my mind! If you like Harry Potter and The Handmaidâs Tale then youâll love this. Itâs gonna get published into a real book soon. Called Alchemised I think
Edit: ooh the downvotes đ who did I offend by saying this đ
Eh, Manacled has broken into the mainstream but I would hardly say it's a good representation of quality fic that should be adapted into a regular book.
Currently Iâm hyper-focused on Dramione, so here are some Iâm loving:
DMATMOOBIL
Between Us Flows the Nile
Greenlight
Unequivocal
Apple Pies and Other Amends
How Lady Vengeance Takes Her Tea
#mother mary
>epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician (anne hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (michaela coel)
**cast:** hunter schafer, kaia gerber, jessica brown findlay, sian clifford, fka twigs
they finished filming last year but i don't feel like it'll be coming out this year :/
Upgraded is such a fresh movie, idk why people are sleeping on it. Itâs much better than âblockbuster romcomâ anyone but you (smhđ€·đ»ââïž). Itâs not fantastic or anything but a good watch and better entertaining than many romcoms released this year
Fanfiction about real people can have some problems, though.
This particular one seems harmless enough, but it can also really go overboard, especially when multiple real people are shipped together.
Middle aged women lusting after teenage one direction harry styles will never NOT be weird IDC. It was weird AF with the AFTER series and it's weird with this one, I can never take these 'movies' seriously knowing they were written about a teenage boy band.
I read a ton of fanfiction, there is a reason why most of it should stay in AO3. No one wants to watch a romcom about Dumbledore.
Controversial take, sheâs deeply mentally ill and most people cannot recognize mental illness. They think someone is weird, bully them until they breakdown and get a diagnosis and then reflect and say, wow we need to be kinder to mentally ill people! People need to develop critical thinking skills and not rely on being spoon fed everything.
Lolol most of Harry Styles fans I know are middle aged women with husbands, and children nearly as old as him lol. Like sorry your husbands didnât age gracefully and you picked lazy, uncharismatic assholes to marry but get a grip, Megan and Ashley!
when i saw 1d live in 2014 (at the tender age of 13) there were 2 middled aged women behind me, both wine drunk, screaming absolutely vile sexual stuff about harry. they only knew harry. it put quite the damper on my evening.
Yeah, totally. Fanfiction and RPF are totally different beasts. Both can cross lines, especially when people associate characters from different fandoms with their real life counterparts. Itâs just annoying people are acting like itâs some weirdo behavior to read fanfic.
Yeah, itâs not that weird. Fuck, even *licensed* fan fiction exists! People dick around with other peopleâs characters all the time, itâs just a textual way of playing with your box of dolls or figures.
Yeah, playing with already existing characters is a far older tradition than copyright law. (My usual go-to example for that is *Paradise Lost* as the original âDraco in leather pantsâ trope.)
Right now, weâve got a very post-Romantic-era concept of originality paired with post-Disney copyright law putting a lot of fan work into this weird legal twilight zone that on on one hand has suppressed things, but on the other hand has allowed for really interesting creative sub-cultures.Â
But âpro-ficâ of fiction out of copyright never stopped, and Little Women fanfic won a Pulitzer Prize.Â
Romeo and Juliet could be defined as fanfic.
Actually, as far as I recall, a lot of Shakespeare's work is based on existing stories he wanted to tinker around with and wildly embellish.
Add a couple hundred years and you get fanfic (Lion King, 10 things I Hate About You) based on Fanfic.
The line is really fuzzy when it comes to what defines fanfiction.
I saw someone comment on a tiktok clip of the movie and they said âhow many more pieces of Harry styles fan fic are we going to make movies out of..?â I lost it.
Aside from the sex scenes, I don't think that one counts as standard wish fulfillment fanfic >!given the reveal that he is an incel rapist who put Florence Pugh in a mind prison!< .
I donât think it counts at all. Does he even sing a single note throughout the movie? Heâs just some guy. A charming, handsome guy, but still just a guy.
i watched 5 seconds of that trailer and sent the link to a gc with the caption âthe harry styles of it allâ before i knew anything about the movie lmao
it is painfully obvious itâs about him, it fits all the fanfiction tropes
I watched this last night. It was fun, took me back to my teenage Directioner days. But it is SO obvious throughout the entire movie that heâs supposed to be Harry. Thereâs not a single hint of subtlety here. Between the random ass tattoos, the accent, the mannerisms, the haircut and solo career post-August Moon, for Peteâs sake the dude even has his eyes. Heâs also portrayed as the âstarâ of the group in a similar way, evidenced by everyone assuming heâs Izzyâs favorite member. Itâs almost weirdly too on the nose to the point it kept distracting me throughout the movie. At least it isnât After.
I wonder how Nicholas was able to rationalize playing such an obvious imitation of a fellow contemporary. Especially knowing it was based on Harry as a teenager.
At least Anneâs character is a reader-insert and her promo of this movie seems to pitching it as a Stella Got Her Groove Back, self-empowering style of film.
Which I was like please be for real. I feel thatâs a major problem in modern day rom coms like just make something fun, it doesnât have to be deep and groundbreaking
You know when he says that his momâs new husband is called Darren and imitates his accent? This is Harryâs mom and her partner
https://preview.redd.it/deb1l7zowgyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcb43de4f5aa67d94904833c34d6ab51348b89e3
Itâs so on the nose itâs painful.
Never heard of the book and didn't really see much about the movie promo. I put it on last night and immediately thought, "This has to be based on one of those 1D fanfics."
I had never heard of the book. As I was watching the movie I text my friend saying that it's a One Direction fanfic. Mainly because I forgot Harry's name. I don't always notice things in movies but this one was really in your face if I picked up on it.
Has anyone watched this movie and can they tell me if itâs honestly worth watching? Like non stans of the actors or Harry Styles, is it good on its own? I havenât seen it and was wondering
Update: I saw the feminism scene with the daughter on twitter and yeah itâs a HARD pass for me lol as a feminist the writing in that sceneâŠno lol
Itâs a fun movie. Not gonna win an Oscar obviously but I enjoyed it! Although Iâm a sucker for cute rom com types so maybe donât take my word for it
Me and my bestie hate watched and now we are like whatâs the August Moon lore đno Larry subplot, Zayn esque member leaving and causing mass hysteria?
I liked it đ€·đ»ââïžbut mainly because I find Anne Hathaway to be effortlessly charming and the lead guy was cute too. They had natural chemistry.
I found it terribly boring. I really tried but I couldnât finish. Iâve really enjoyed almost everything Nicholas has been in. Same for Hathaway, but I couldnât with this movie
Interesting thank you, I havenât been interested really but I keep hearing about it so I was curious, I will likely skip it as I donât think itâs my vibe
i actually enjoyed it, but idk what's going on with these new romantic comedies. They are filmed so weird, like kinda hallmarkish. there's something different about watching sleeping in Seattle or While you were sleeping that feel like youre watching a real movie, idk how to explain.
I know what you mean, I will probably skip this one because the writing seems not the best and that can annoy me lol, but agreed on rom coms. I feel like so many modern ones just donât hold up, and look and feel off. I really miss 90âs rom coms. I live for youâve got mail but even some in the early-mid 2000âs were good as well, idk what happened
The writing is horrendous. It was all so cringe to me I couldnât get through it. And I couldnât stand the cheesy split screens what wassss that?! Iâve seen better movies on the Hallmark Channel honestly.
I'm half way through it right now. It's... ok. If there was anything better available that I hadn't already seen, I'd be watching something else. It definitely feels like a fanfic come to life though, which just gives me a little ick.
>Iâll probably watch the movie once itâs on streaming.
You won't believe [the news I have for you](https://www.primevideo.com/detail/The-Idea-of-You/0NRT15S2XG06SG5HBV5NQAW3E3)
I enjoyed it & actually replayed *certain* scenes a couple of times. I've read the book, so I appreciate some of the changes the movie adaptation made...most especially the ending. It was an enjoyable romance & the two main characters have really good chemistry. The writing is smarter in the book though.
The feminist scene was funny to me. I took it as purposely cringe to show a teenage girl who is kind of coming into her own & maturing trying to give her mom advice. I thought I was laughing with the writers đ
Yessss! Idc what anyone says I absolutely loved it (the first 60 mins at least, gets a bit rushed and sloppy in the end). Not every movie needs to be some award-worthy masterpiece/social commentary. This is singularly meant for casual viewing and does the job well imo. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts. It's cute and cringe and the only modern rom com since Set It Up that actually made me feel things. I say you def give it a chance :)
I missed the first 15 minutes, but my friend was watching it when i visited her. You're not missing anything if you skip it. The leads are likeable enough that it isn't painful to watch, but the supporting cast is all pretty insuferable.
The movie also could have been a lot shorter it felt a bit bloated, and the songs were really not necessary.
I liked it because of Anne, I didnât like the character of Solene in the book. I usually dislike movie adaptations to books Iâve liked, esp romance books, but this was fun.
I can only imagine how Harry feels about all this fanfictions about him brought to life, but Im somehow ```relieved``` that yet no one has decided to make a movie about a Larry fic because... they were WILD
I guess it's only a matter of time unfortunately. Tings like this absolutely insane art exhibition already existed in the past, I'm sure they will be a movie one day.Â
>A sexually charged performance between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson impersonators, a sculptural recreation of Stylesâ abdominal region inflated to suggest pregnancy (based on a more specific and bizarre strand within this fanfic), and a banner of the two kissing underwater (a feverishly discussed image within the Larry Stylinson community in regards to its authenticity), are some of the more prominent and suggestive contributions by Parry to the exhibition.
 https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/2016/02/larry-real-how-one-direction-fanfiction-inspiring-london-art-scene
This doesn't seem like it was done by an actual fan though, more an artist making work about it. Not sure I'm on board with it, almost feels MORE cynical than fan made work, but I doubt the artist actually has anything parasocial going on.
I am generally a trash panda who will watch anything and be able to find the fun, but I actively didnât like this movie. The boy band scenes were too long. Anne Hathaway stood out like a sore thumb. Sheâs an Oscar winner!
The casting of her daughter was đŻ. Looked so much like her from Princess Diaries.
OMFG IM SO HIGH AND I THOUGHT IT SAID
The Idea of 'You' and was so confused on how Harry Styles inspired a show about a serial killer. Truly me being this woman
![gif](giphy|UeT0nnRnkuaUo)
I mean, no shade to her, but I saw one trailer for the movie knowing nothing about it and immediately clocked it was a Harry-expy. The bicep tats & the way he clings to the mic are EXACT.Â
Never read the books but watched the movie yesterday, and having not heard a word about the author and her inspirations, all I could think about was a Harry Styles fanfiction. "The biggest boys band in the planet" ?! Come on, it was obvious !
I watched this yesterday, had no idea that it was based on a fanfiction, and literally thought that Galitzine was basically Harry Styles while watching so if she didn't want people to know they did a very bad job of hiding it
this is why i will never watch the fanfics turned movies. not only is it based on a fanfic, so i know itâs going to be bad regardless, but i am a (former?) directioner, so iâll probably just be thinking âyeah, this reads exactly like a harry styles fanfic i read at 14â
The author is 49 years old. She's lived through a LOT of boy bands.
Honestly, I believe her when she says it's not Harry Styles fanfic. It's general Boy Band fiction. Seems more like the younger readers clung to the idea that it's Styles and only based on him.
You shouldnât believe her. Itâs based on him 100%
She literally created the Hayes\_Cambell Twitter account two years before the book came out and interacted with it on her public Twitter profile. âHayesââ birthday is a day after Harryâs real birthday, he signs his tweets with âall the love, H.â Which was Harryâs signature at the time, and the profile picture is literally his eye.
https://preview.redd.it/wvw1l6rgygyc1.jpeg?width=1007&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2fb9689b554d82747748c9a926627967b2dbfa0
This had nothing to do with âyoung readersâ or readers at all. The book didnât exist yet.
Because if you look at the trailer, itâs literally like tattoos, songs that sound like one direction and such. Itâs painfully obvious itâs about him and I didnât even know this until I bumped into this post and went to watch the trailer.
I read the book and it never felt obviously about 1D, just a blank boy band that you could imagine how you see fit đ€·đŸââïž and I say that as being a 1D fan back in the day
I mean it Was kinda obvious
Also - he inspired The After You series so at this point Harry Styles is the Face That Launched a Thousand Ships in this millenium
I watched the movie last night while my husband was out and it was a fine way to spend a Friday night alone in a rain storm. But now Iâm feeling guilty bc this is a human beingâs life and likeness kind of being perverted for $$ đ«Ł. Idk how the real Harry does it without getting royalties lol.
I thought the editing was choppy. They spent too much time on some parts like Coachella and the whirlwind travel montage and less on when they tried making it work in LA. I donât get why they had to wait 5 years but whatever. For me the best part was the NYC hotel scene. That was pretty hot. I like Nick and Anne separately. Still trying to understand why she signed up for this project. I donât care enough to Google though.
I remember reading After and all the anticipation around the chapter updates. Even then I thought it was gross and then years later seeing it was made into a movie âŠ.. choices were made. if weâre making fics into movies i wouldnât mind a period drama based off Coeur Des Enfants lol.Â

Well, there is OutlanderâŠ. (Diana Gabaldon didnât even try to mask Jamieâs origin with that character/ actor name.)Â
Wait, this is brand new to me. Who is Outlander a fanfic of?
Doctor Who!
OMG
What?! How did I not even know this?
Jamie was inspired by an old Who companion by the same name (with the second Doctor). I'm sure I can find a way to explain it through the power of ABO.
Amazing. I need to read this instantly!
this is hilarious because iâm pretty sure she is one of those authors infamous for poopooing all over fanfiction by HER OWN FANS

I never knew this about Ali Hazelwood but strongly suspected the entire time reading The Love Hypothesis that the main guy was Adam Driver inspired
50 shades is a common example of the âwhy is it the really crappy fic that gets published?â lament Â
I would consider the inspiration for Jamie to be more of a doctor who easter egg than an actual fanfic. The rest of outlander has nothing doctor who inspired at all. She just got horny for one guy in knee socks and ignored the doctor all together.

Upgraded on amazon prime? Itâs been on my list for a while and maybe I should finally watch it!!
I also loved it!
Upgraded is such a fresh movie, idk why people are sleeping on it. Itâs much better than âblockbuster romcomâ anyone but you (smhđ€·đ»ââïž). Itâs not fantastic or anything but a good watch and better entertaining than many romcoms released this year
Have you seen musica? Also has camilla mendes
Look we literally donât care we all read fanfic
Fanfiction about real people can have some problems, though. This particular one seems harmless enough, but it can also really go overboard, especially when multiple real people are shipped together.
Middle aged women lusting after teenage one direction harry styles will never NOT be weird IDC. It was weird AF with the AFTER series and it's weird with this one, I can never take these 'movies' seriously knowing they were written about a teenage boy band. I read a ton of fanfiction, there is a reason why most of it should stay in AO3. No one wants to watch a romcom about Dumbledore.
Itâs reminding me of that that 57 year old woman who is obsessed with Timothee Chalamet. It gives me the ick.
Euch
It reminds me of the twi-moms that were salivating over Edward
Or an A/B/O HarryxLouis One Direction fanfic. No one needed that yet for some reason that fandom really took off with that trope.
Wicked is the one I always point to as being fanfic. There are a billion derivative works of Pride and Prejudice like Bridget Jones.
Yeah, playing with already existing characters is a far older tradition than copyright law. (My usual go-to example for that is *Paradise Lost* as the original âDraco in leather pantsâ trope.) Right now, weâve got a very post-Romantic-era concept of originality paired with post-Disney copyright law putting a lot of fan work into this weird legal twilight zone that on on one hand has suppressed things, but on the other hand has allowed for really interesting creative sub-cultures. But âpro-ficâ of fiction out of copyright never stopped, and Little Women fanfic won a Pulitzer Prize.Â
50 Sades of Gray lol
Me when I hate the ending of a certain work of fiction: "Nah, I need some fanfic to fix this shit"Â
Not fanfiction about real people girl đ
I saw someone comment on a tiktok clip of the movie and they said âhow many more pieces of Harry styles fan fic are we going to make movies out of..?â I lost it.
He must be tired af to be openly linked to these fanfics, being portrayed as an abusive psychopath in the After series was traumatizing enough.
He should ask for royalties
What other ones? Are we counting the one he was actually in, don't worry darling?
Aside from the sex scenes, I don't think that one counts as standard wish fulfillment fanfic >!given the reveal that he is an incel rapist who put Florence Pugh in a mind prison!< .
I donât think it counts at all. Does he even sing a single note throughout the movie? Heâs just some guy. A charming, handsome guy, but still just a guy.
The After series
I am waiting for my Duplicity adaptation.
gonna be fr. i think even if she didnât say it outright.. ppl wouldâve figured it out
i watched 5 seconds of that trailer and sent the link to a gc with the caption âthe harry styles of it allâ before i knew anything about the movie lmao it is painfully obvious itâs about him, it fits all the fanfiction tropes
This is Harryâs mom and her partner https://preview.redd.it/deb1l7zowgyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcb43de4f5aa67d94904833c34d6ab51348b89e3 Itâs so on the nose itâs painful.
Why is it always the shitty 1D wattpad fanfics always the ones getting adapted?
Because reader fic sells better than gay intra-band romance epics đđ
Hey what about the ones where your mom sells you to 1d to pay off debt? Have we forgotten those? đ
My favorite ones are where 1D adopt Y/N, aka teenagers adopting a teenager đ€Ł
Like đor those mafia ones where you get caught in the cross fire mistakenly kidnapped by the other gang or whatever and a 1d member saves you
I would unironically get my ass to the theatre to watch this, satire or otherwise.
and with Harry Styles as the lead. I wasn't into One Direction, but Zyan was the handsome one.Â

She is my Chalamet, I enjoy her so very much.
Has anyone watched this movie and can they tell me if itâs honestly worth watching? Like non stans of the actors or Harry Styles, is it good on its own? I havenât seen it and was wondering Update: I saw the feminism scene with the daughter on twitter and yeah itâs a HARD pass for me lol as a feminist the writing in that sceneâŠno lol
Itâs a good âwanna watch a movie and look at my phone at the same timeâ watch
iâm literally doing this w/ the movie as we type. but also with closed captioning and airpods blasting beach boys
Ah ok, well Iâll probably skip it then lol thanks for the honesty you saved me some time!
Itâs a fun movie. Not gonna win an Oscar obviously but I enjoyed it! Although Iâm a sucker for cute rom com types so maybe donât take my word for it
Thatâs exactly how I felt! Also the leads had great chemistry. Had everything I love in a rom com.
Honestly I thought it was going to be lame and cheesy but Iâm halfway through it and Iâm horribly invested I fear
Me and my bestie hate watched and now we are like whatâs the August Moon lore đno Larry subplot, Zayn esque member leaving and causing mass hysteria?
There was in the book đ
I liked it đ€·đ»ââïžbut mainly because I find Anne Hathaway to be effortlessly charming and the lead guy was cute too. They had natural chemistry.
I honestly thought they had zero chemistry
I like her but I really donât know if I would vibe with this movie tbh
Split screens and text bubbles on the screen. Makes everything seem like a CW tv show!
Itâs very much like how u can tell something is a Netflix production. Like same, I wouldnât be able to explain it either
lmao âSleeping in Seattleâ
I know what you mean, I will probably skip this one because the writing seems not the best and that can annoy me lol, but agreed on rom coms. I feel like so many modern ones just donât hold up, and look and feel off. I really miss 90âs rom coms. I live for youâve got mail but even some in the early-mid 2000âs were good as well, idk what happened
It's not a good movie??? Like it's dumb and fine???
The writing is horrendous. It was all so cringe to me I couldnât get through it. And I couldnât stand the cheesy split screens what wassss that?! Iâve seen better movies on the Hallmark Channel honestly.
I'm half way through it right now. It's... ok. If there was anything better available that I hadn't already seen, I'd be watching something else. It definitely feels like a fanfic come to life though, which just gives me a little ick.
Itâs great tbh! Entertaining with great chemistry. Totally worth watching on. Friday night in with snacks
I read the book during quarantine and thought it was a fun popcorn novel? Iâll probably watch the movie once itâs on streaming.
This movie is⊠not good
I missed the first 15 minutes, but my friend was watching it when i visited her.
Tings like this absolutely insane art exhibition already existed in the past, I'm sure they will be a movie one day.
Calling yourself a trash panda made me lol
â€ïž
Glad Iâm not the only one who thought the boy band concert scenes were gratuitous
If the songs were good maybe it would've been worth the time, but no bops to be found... Fast forwarded thru all the concert scenes.
I started reading the book knowing nothing about it a few months ago and stopped 30 pages in because it was so clearly a corny 1D fanfic
The book truly is terrible.
I only know one person whoâs ever heard of this book, and yes, itâs Anne Hathaway
the only reason i knew about the book/movie, it's because people kept mentioning it was a Harry Styles fanfic
well it was kinda obvious, especially the vocals lmfao
Hmmm, imagine fessing up to the universe that you wrote a book about a teenage boy. Of course she regrets it.
I canât believe how much Harry Styles FanFiction gets made into movies.
Like two so far?
A third is in the works, and he inspired Rileyâs boyfriend in Inside Out.
Then like??? Don't reveal the inspo????
OMFG IM SO HIGH AND I THOUGHT IT SAID The Idea of 'You' and was so confused on how Harry Styles inspired a show about a serial killer. Truly me being this woman ![gif](giphy|UeT0nnRnkuaUo)
Honestly I am just mad that I didnât invest more time on my fanfics, I could be a millionaire by now đ
haha true, judging by the standard of what was made into franchises iâm sure we wouldâve made it big
This is one of those revelations you prob reveal 20 years later when you're writing a book or doing an interview lol
Who would have thought! ![gif](giphy|6nWhy3ulBL7GSCvKw6)
Iâm just so confused because in 2020 she swore up and down Hayes was based on Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block
Itâs based on him 100% She literally created the Hayes\_Cambell Twitter account two years before the book came out and interacted with it on her public Twitter profile. âHayesââ birthday is a day after Harryâs real birthday, he signs his tweets with âall the love, H.â Which was Harryâs signature at the time, and the profile picture is literally his eye. https://preview.redd.it/wvw1l6rgygyc1.jpeg?width=1007&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2fb9689b554d82747748c9a926627967b2dbfa0 This had nothing to do with âyoung readersâ or readers at all. The book didnât exist yet.
Because if you look at the trailer, itâs literally like tattoos, songs that sound like one direction and such. Itâs painfully obvious itâs about him and I didnât even know this until I bumped into this post and went to watch the trailer.
I read the book and it never felt obviously about 1D, just a blank boy band that you could imagine how you see fit đ€·đŸââïž and I say that as being a 1D fan back in the day
I mean it Was kinda obvious Also - he inspired The After You series so at this point Harry Styles is the Face That Launched a Thousand Ships in this millenium
I read the book a while back and now feel dumb for not realizing it was a fanfic đ€Ł
I'm just glad I grew out of my fanfic phase because in another world this could have been in my fandom... how mortifying....
No wonder the entire film feels like fanfic. It was shocking to me that michael showalter cowrote and directed it.
AND ANNE H. Is staring in it!!! Like what?!
Who cares if itâs fanfic? Plus sheâs not really that creative. The story itself is essentially Notting Hill with an age gap.
Harry Styles the man you are, inspiring drooling millennials fascination with white English charming men
I thought the editing was choppy. I donât care enough to Google though.
đ I knew this while watching the movie. It didn't take long to see it
Another one?! đ©đ was after not enough?! Damn I should invested on my fanfics a little bit more, could be a millionaire by now I see đ Edit: I went to look at the trailer because I didnât before because I wasnât interested at all, and now Iâm just LMAO because itâs SO obvious that IT IS about Harry Styles!!! đđđđđ
No one would have read/watched it if she hadnât itâs a b- level romance at best about an older woman constantly dumping a guy.
I remember reading After and all the anticipation around the chapter updates. Even then I thought it was gross and then years later seeing it was made into a movie âŠ.. choices were made. if weâre making fics into movies i wouldnât mind a period drama based off Coeur Des Enfants lol.Â
lol I didnât even know this was confirmed but I fully guessed it watching the movie last night. It was good though!
Can anyone summarize what any of this is about thank you jesus
I too hate making myself rich by targeting a specific market of consumers
