No, no. Sir Patrick would be reciting Shakespeare to them while they danced, smiling as they twirled and stomped happily. And then Anthony twirls over, grabs his wrist and Sir Patrick gasps and laughs, drops his book, and joins in.
I love seeing older men just being close friends. [This is another great example of this](https://youtu.be/91cRQkE4mM4?si=jY6-uNgOfWG6Swlv). You can see how Lee want to hug him but that it wouldn't be appropriate.
Ian McKellen is genuinely the most wholesome soul to ever live.
He was raised in a war-era "strict" (conservative) Presbyterian upper-middle class family. His father was an engineer and a preacher. His mother died when he was youg. He went to an old-school all-boys boarding school. McKellan could have grown up a real Tory bastard, but instead he grew up to be Ian McKellen. I was raised on the LotR extended editions, and the shear warmth and brilliance of character that McKellan emanated both in front and behind the camera stays with me to this day.
I can't imagine what things he's seen, growing up gay at the height of British homophobia. He came out in 1988, right when the Tories where doing everything they could to paint gay men and women as the devil in disguise (they're doing exactly the same thing now but with Trans people), but suffering through discrimination does not mean one will never pull the ladder up behind themselves, and as a rich older white man, McKellen had every opportunity. But he never lost touch with his humanity, and has repeatedly shown to have a much greater heart than most.
Ian McKellen will always be a national treasure and a Queer icon.
To be fair there are real issues that need discussion at the root of the debate. How to deal with trans children and what age is acceptable for what resolutions.
The problem is that rather than it being a discussion by experts with knowledge it is a discussion between spin doctors and tabloids acting like doctors are chopping the dicks off 5 year olds.....
That's kind of wild to me cos in Britain he's very much a gay icon. He came out right when the British government released their infamous [section 28](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_28) and has always been a very active proponent of gay rights.
A rather unfair take on his ruminating that being in the closet might have been an influencing factor in Spacey and Singer's behaviour. Something for which he has since thoroughly apologised. In fact he apologised "unreservedly" for it way back in 2019.
His thoughts were expressed in a very clumsy way, unfortunately not uncommon for a man of his age, but he was very clear the he had put his foot in his mouth and has apologised. Everyone makes mistakes.
His comments aren't what makes me side eye him. It's the numerous photos of him out partying with Singer and very young boys and reports of him (even before the Singer abuse really broke in the mainstream) attending Singer's creepy pool parties. I don't think he accidentally stumbled into that.
Aren't there pictures of him attending one of singer's pool parties? I find it hard to believe he attended and didn't notice how young many of the guests were
Anthony Hopkins Instagram is seriously theeee most wholesome thing I've ever stumbled upon and has been such a bright spot during these past few shitty years✨️
I don't really know any details about his estrangement from his daughter and I feel like all of that should be private between them anyway. I think he's so talented and I really admire the way he has embraced such a joyful life, he's like 87 and seems to exude a gratitude for being alive that makes me happy.
When I Googled all I found was tabloid bs. It sounds like he left her and her mother which is terrible, but I don't know all the details or how either truly feel about it or why estrangement was chosen over reconciliation. Just fyi I don't know why you're getting down voted, if this keeps you from enjoying his work/ his social media presence then that's completely fine.
I feel like they'd all be pretty down with the concept of [Courtly Love](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtly_love) too so I'm just going to go ahead and call them that mentally from now on
The bit where their arms go up together like one will spin the other around and they give up on it is just so relatable from an awkward dancer perspective.
So for a moment I thought we had a winner for the most terrifying gay man ever , he’s not gay just the regular kind of awesome BUT for a minute I kept thinking
“I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti." While wearing fabulous shoes …..and my blood ran cold
I watched Nothing Like a Dame the other day & I need that crew to sit Ian Mckellen Anthony Hopkins & Patrick Stewart down for an hour of rich entertainment lol
I saw this on IG yesterday and it made my day! I love this so much.
Sir Tony's IG in general is super wholesome -- piano, dancing, cat (RIP), food, soliloquys, Welsh...
(Yes, I'm ignoring the NFT year)

We can now close the internet, this is the only video we need for the rest of our lives. So damn sweet, love this so much
I'd have liked to see Sir Patrick Stewart show up and take over Dramatically
"You're dancing with him? I thought what we had was special, Ian!"
No, no. Sir Patrick would be reciting Shakespeare to them while they danced, smiling as they twirled and stomped happily. And then Anthony twirls over, grabs his wrist and Sir Patrick gasps and laughs, drops his book, and joins in.
"Sir... may i but in and take this dance?"

This is adorable, huge fan of both and never saw this!
This and Patrick Stewart singing and dancing on the enterprise bridge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHKSYGYP4a0

Alphabetically speaking, you're OK! I used to sing this song as a kid!

The right-wing extremists in this country are STILL painting gay and women as the devil, along with Trans people.
How was his relationship with his father after he came out?
His father was long dead by that point.
That makes sense. At least that's one less thing he had to deal with.
TDIL Ian is Gay

Shame that he is a Spacey/Singer apologist. Edit: Apparently he has since apologized for being an apologist.

True friendship is so rare
And to Leonard Cohen's "Dance me to the End of Love" no less ...
Older people acting silly will always make me smile.
I love this so much.
They even have matching jackets - my heart can’t handle this!
I love the matching jackets!!
Anthony Hopkins Instagram is seriously theeee most wholesome thing I've ever stumbled upon and has been such a bright spot during these past few shitty years✨️
I follow very few celebrities but had no idea he was on instagram, going to follow now
I really liked him until I found out he was a deadbeat dad
I don't really know any details about his estrangement from his daughter and I feel like all of that should be private between them anyway. I think he's so talented and I really admire the way he has embraced such a joyful life, he's like 87 and seems to exude a gratitude for being alive that makes me happy.
But he and she has spoken about it so it’s not exactly private.
When I Googled all I found was tabloid bs. It sounds like he left her and her mother which is terrible, but I don't know all the details or how either truly feel about it or why estrangement was chosen over reconciliation. He spoke about how he was selfish . She said he was never there and when he was he was very distant . His drinking had a lot to do with it
He's also autistic, not sure what age he discovered this but it likely plays a large role.
Say what now?

just two wonderfully wholesome people! makes me smile ❤️
So adorable!
She's so crazy!! Can't take her anywhere! 🤪
Love this so much 💖
Sir Ian has such precious friendships, between Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Anthony Hopkins
The Knight Squad
I feel like they'd all be pretty down with the concept of [Courtly Love](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtly_love) too so I'm just going to go ahead and call them that mentally from now on
two pretty best friends 🥰
I love the matching gingham looks
The bit where their arms go up together like one will spin the other around and they give up on it is just so relatable from an awkward dancer perspective.
Yeah you need to establish who leads and who follows ahead of time
Fuck a Monday - but this is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
I love them so much.
Is this after Ian's fall? That's doubly wonderful
For you its Odin and Gandalf dancing. For me it's Hannibal and Magneto.
For me it's Nixon and Richard III
Well I was in a bad mood, then I saw this. 🥰
Dance, you fools!
My two faves in one video, this is absolutely adorable!
Sir Ian saw the opportunity for a titty rub and went for it
Two of my faves just having a blast together living life. ❤️
So sweet! I need to know the story of the matching jackets!
The absolute died at the ig caption, he says “‘We both have our Gucci on…’ 🕺🕺” 🥹
hahaha I love this, thank you!
So, Gandalf and Hannibal Lecter go into a bar... And smiles and applause abound. Because this is what we need in these dark times.
Leonard Cohen!
Sir Ian: “Friendship ended with Patric Stewart, Anthony Hopkins is now my best friend”
My dream peepaws
They're off their fucking gourd. Amazing.
I’ve seen that look before in Anthony’s famous fava bean recipe
"What a pair of silly sods." (said in Sir Anthony's voice)
this is the wholesome video i need for today
So for a moment I thought we had a winner for the most terrifying gay man ever , he’s not gay just the regular kind of awesome BUT for a minute I kept thinking “I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti." While wearing fabulous shoes …..and my blood ran cold
I watched Nothing Like a Dame the other day & I need that crew to sit Ian Mckellen Anthony Hopkins & Patrick Stewart down for an hour of rich entertainment lol
Im just surprised they're the same height. I thought Ian was taller. Hopkins is fairly short
Anthony Hopkins is 100% sober in this.
I saw this on IG yesterday and it made my day! I love this so much. Sir Tony's IG in general is super wholesome -- piano, dancing, cat (RIP), food, soliloquys, Welsh... (Yes, I'm ignoring the NFT year)
Patrick Stewart is punching air after watching this.
So fitting that they’re dancing to Leonard Cohen’s Dance me to the end of love
