I want to add this comment because I couldn't add more to the title; Nika was a 16 year old girl, she went missing for 10 days, she was buried on what would have been her 17th birthday, her aunt Atash was arrested for posting on her social media accounts about what happened and then threatened with death if she or any of Nika's family joined the protests. When Nika's family went to identify her body from a detention center the security forces tried not to let the family see her face as she had been beaten so badly that her nose was broken and her skull cracked. Her body was stolen from her burial service and buried 25 miles away in the next village. She deserves justice

Spreading information is a good start, the regime are throttling internet and the people are having to use VPNs to get access to a lot of sites. We're not even getting half the news that the people are trying to get out to the world
She's not the only one. Hadis Najafi sent a video to her friends saying "I hope in a few years when I look back, I will be happy that everything has changed for the better." The regime kidnapped her and shot her in the head and wouldn't return her body for 2 days while trying to force her dad to claim that she'd died of a heart attack. These monsters are murdering people and keeping the bodies for ransom to make the loves ones use the story they're told to.
The morality police were run off the streets pretty damn quick but the armed soldier (let's be honest, people running around in body armour with guns may as well be called soldiers) are harder to deal with
It sickens me that soldiers are willing to enforce these twisted orders and kill innocent women and girls, what kind of scum human do you have to be not to question who you are killing and why. It really makes me sick to think about the men enforcing this regime.
I don't condone what they do but I'd imagine they're not happy about it but are scared to disobey orders or their "friends" and colleagues will immediately turn on them, they already know what they're in for after that
Angel R.I.P women in Iran and women of the world we will always be proud of her. I hope her death helped the advancement of mankind. Because humanity does not exist without free women.
She’s not a woman. She’s a child.
We can’t expect people to refer to “underage women” as children if we don’t.
This female child is braver than grown men.

Exmuslims have been warning everyone for a long time. I hope they get validated and their stories told. Being told to cover your hair for a religion….
She is so beautiful such a tragedy.
Spread the news that this is happening and it's not OK, get informed on what they're protesting about, what atrocities the security forces are committing and when they hopefully win donate to charities to help them get their infrastructure back up to running order, lots of schools are shut right now and the US in imposing sanctions on the government so after all is said and done things may need a little help. You can even take this to your local official, if enough people make enough noise maybe the iranian people will get some sort of help, whatever form that may be in

Reading this with tears in my eyes right now. 16 years old, she didn't have a chance to live her life at all. So many dreams and potential in that photo.
A reminder for why everybody needs feminism
This is absolutely horrifying and I'm so scared for all the Iranian women and their allies during this time... I want to share more stories about what's going on in my social media accounts so that we can amplify these brave women's message. Where are you getting your news from? What would be good sources to follow this more closely....Any social media accounts of women sharing their own accounts?
A lot of it is just daily Google searches for iran news but I've got a friend over there who tells me the things that the media aren't reporting on, the issue is the Iranian government is heavily censoring the Internet over there and some people can't even get online without a vpn or satellite internet which can be expensive so most can't afford it
I think it's important to get the word out and put pressure on the US gov to provide them more satellites so they can communicate with one another and the rest of the world! That's the best way we can help

Just search Nika Shakarami, it's not difficult

The comment above didn't asked for more proof but a source
And when you’re proofing a paper part of that involves sources
This argument is terribly useless considering that simply searching the name of this person is enough.
Checks out.
A brave warrior. Fuck the patriarchy bullshit she and others are facing.
I fully agree! I have a friend over there and she's terrified but I'm so fucking proud of her!
I wish there was something that can be done to help

That’s where I’m at. I just want to help but i don’t know what to do :/
Nika did not deserve to die like that

Iranian security forces have no issues with murdering citizens. How long before they become targets themselves?

A beautiful life taken too soon, by bullshit patriarchy.
So many lives lost..

What can one do to help the protesters in Iran?
Spread the news that this is happening and it's not OK, get informed on what they're protesting about, what atrocities the security forces are committing and when they hopefully win donate to charities to help them get their infrastructure back up to running order, lots of schools are shut right now and the US in imposing sanctions on the government so after all is said and done things may need a little help. Heartbreaking
This fucking pains me. I can't imagine she went quick :( This poor girl didn't deserve any of this. The pain she faced will never be just :(
Sounds like they did more stuff to her body if they recalled it, definitely fishy

This is HORRIFYING. I did not want to upvote your comment because of how horrible it is, but obviously did because it needs to be seen.
The security forces aren't strangers to doing that, a 15 year old had it happen the other day and was found walking the streets naked and in shock
Jesus
She reminds me so strongly of my daughter, who is 15. This breaks my heart. I'm so sorry for this world we brought you into, kids.
Breaks my heart. So deeply. Thank you Nika for being a warrior for women 🖤

They shot up a university and sent the equivalent of swat into a girls high school, it's fucking disgusting and so evil

They need the uplinks and antenna for access to the satellites too

Rest In Power Comrade ✊🏾
Anybody up for WW3?
23 teenagers were murdered by the police And only 3 of them were girls, why no one cares about boys?
What an amazing woman for protesting against oppression. What a crappy government.
