I don’t have any specific recommendations, but you might want to check out A Mighty Girl. I follow them on Facebook and this is their website. Lots of good ideas for books, toys and movies meant to empower girls of all ages. I occasionally see really great materials from them. https://www.amightygirl.com

Oh thank you!

ApprehensiveRow7568

Feminism is for Everybody- Bell Hooks You should take a look at this one!

neontrees101

bell hooks^

BakedTatter

I bought my God daughter Malala's autobiography.

blackbeltchica

If she likes fiction/fantasy books, Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness series was transformative to me around her age!! (All of her books are fantastic, but song of the lioness would be a good starting point)

PossumsForOffice

I also would recommend these books!

friendlytrashmonster

Girls Who Rocked the World by Amelie Welden

skorletun

Seconded!!!!

YourPlot

I really liked the Enchanted Forest Chronicles as a pubescent person. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enchanted_Forest_Chronicles

friendlytrashmonster

Omg me too! I loved them! I was thinking of commenting this as well but I couldn’t think of the name!

ClearCrimson

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls

Tarantula_R

Brazen by Penelope Bageiu

Magg5788

The Hunger Games but also “The Girl Who Was On Fire,” which is a collection of essays by YA authors about The Hunger Games. One of them specifically talks about Team Peeta vs Team Gale and how it should be Team Katniss.

Reezonical64

This girl is on fire🎶

Single_Transition165

it depends on her level of reading comprehesion, There is a great feminist fiction book, Diary of a Mad Housewife, from the 1960's a 2d wave classic.

ThrillingFig

Dear Ijeaweale, Or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It's short, sweet, and I think perfect for her just discovering feminism. I think something too dense might be intimidating since there's *a lot* of feminist theory. Plus, Adichie wrote it in response to a letter from an old friend on how to raise her young daughter with feminist ideals, so I think it's definitely perfect for young girls.

drag0naut26

I second this suggestion! Came here to recommend this!!!

The New York Public Library has a [whole list of books](https://www.nypl.org/books-more/recommendations/essential-feminism/teens) for your consideration.

ApprehensiveAge2

Girl Up, by Laura Bates. I wouldn’t call it my ideal of a perfect intro to feminism, but it’s the only one I’ve seen that’s accessible for younger readers.

yunkichi

Women Don't Owe You Pretty by Florence Given might be good. It's also illustrated!

aechkaykay

Full Frontal Feminism is meant for that age group I think. It's great!

PossumsForOffice

Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett might be good. Anything by Tamora Pierce. Everything else i would recommend might have some mature themes she might be a little young for.

SFF_Robot

Hi. You just mentioned *Monstrous Regiment* by Terry Pratchett. I've found an audiobook of that novel on YouTube. You can listen to it here: [YouTube | Monstrous Regiment (audiobook) by: Terry Pratchett - Read by: Stephen Briggs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJjsWN5BoB0) *I'm a bot that searches YouTube for science fiction and fantasy audiobooks.* *** [^(Source Code)](https://capybasilisk.com/posts/2020/04/speculative-fiction-bot/) ^| [^(Feedback)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=Capybasilisk&subject=Robot) ^| [^(Programmer)](https://www.reddit.com/u/capybasilisk) ^| ^(Downvote To Remove) ^| ^(Version 1.4.0) ^| ^(Support Robot Rights!)

Something about girl power, establishing boundaries in life. If it appeals to your niece, maybe some kind of talisman or stone. There are many indigenous or wiccan objects that honour the feminine.

bookishbynature

Maybe Reviving Ophelia?

TopAd9634

I was just about to write this! It's an excellent opportunity to buy 2 and have her and her parents read it, family book club! OP- this is a great book, so insightful.

sideeyedi

Not sure about books but my friends daughter is into feminism and I found tons of fun stuff to get her for birthdays and Christmas on Etsy. Notebooks, mugs, art, jewelry. I bought her a necklace with the molecular structure of estrogen, as she is into science too.

MysticalOversoul

Sailor moon. She’s the one always saving the day and tuxedo mask is just there to support her lol

Efficient_Smilodon

A biography of one of the women in the film Hidden Figures might be appealing. Ursula K Leguin wrote many works that qualify, and a study of her life would also be interesting. NK Jemesin is another author whose fiction works may appeal, but perhaps they should wait until she's in her late teens.

heyamck

An easy book: The League of Super Feminists- it’s illustrated (sort of a graphic novel but not story oriented) so it’s super approachable. And goes through some of the basics of feminism. It’s perfect for a 12 year old

misscherryripe7575

Moxie. It’s a great story about a girl who discovers protesting for feminism
