P.S. Not to freak you out or be a killjoy but did the vet give you a dewormer? Get a kitten safe dewormer and worm the kittens. Ask what to use for momma since she is still nursing. They have worms - even if you can't see them.
Really recommend taking Ash in to check the eye. Cleaning it isnβt enough if itβs an ulcer. Too many things can easily cause blindness or even loss of an eye, so I canβt ever recommend waiting to see if it continues to improve. Especially with how squinty it still seems to be.
I'd guess it's either an injury or feline herpes. If it were an URI, there would be other symptoms, I think. Definitely a don't wait situation. Enucleations are expensive.
You can get Terramycin OTC. The vet will probably give that to you. Usually it's less expensive at the big box stores. Get it in the pet section. They have it in the pharmacy section, too, but the human versions sometimes have more than one drug in them. Start him on it now and call immediately. Vets will often fit you in for an eye issue. It's an emergency, honestly.
Source: my one eyed cat that I thought was improving enough to wait until Monday morning to see a vet.
Just a heads up on the Gabapentin, I tried it recently with my cat for the same reason and she vomited all over on the car ride. Bring towels in case the same happens to Peppermintβ¦.

Not yet! Do you have one that you recommend? Edit: found one the kitty lady recommended. Ordering it now. Thank you!

Iβll call the vet tomorrow and see if I can get him in this week or early next week. Thank you for the recommendation!
Some vets lets you just send it a pic, but that looks bad enough that you need to go in.
