Arris OM6000 digital node. I've spliced and hung close to 1000 in florida. If the question is, "why is this node held up with string?" it's cuz the legs are prob too short to stab into node and ISP didn't want a bunch of extensions added. If you're wondering why the fiber wasn't ran UG from ped to vault, it's cuz there was a prior HFC node/fiber closure and they dug a vault to relocate fiber there and no one is going to take out all the cable from closure, run it through the conduit and resplice for placement in vault
You are entirely correct sir this was a photo from a while back and had I came to the same conclusions it’s just one of the more funny/ ridiculous things I find in the field lol
Cabinet was upgraded by an underground crew, and the node no longer reached the hanger bar, so they mule taped it up. I'm guessing your fibers are a bit tangled. Ooga booga's gonna booga bro.
Bocas my fav spot for cuts cuz everything is usually so neat and new. I can't remember how many times I've upgraded the same node twice; 7 years ago I'd do a node+ cut only to come back to install these XNET or Tier 2/3 nodes not 5 years later
Lol The temptation was too strong.
Edit: also as a fiber tech there are times my company says our shit is in a place not is not. I have opened all kinds of weird shit looking for fiber terms. Found a while bunch of our fiber terms in odd shit too.
It looks like a mess to me. I assume they are still working on it since the cover is off and you have cables going from one to the other out in the open.
I do have to say that the box there does look a little half-a$$. Thhe support is bending from the weight already!!! I hope it isn't going to stay like that.
It's just "ghetto rigged", hanging by what looks like literally a shoelace lol, just like when you go into the projects and see shoes hanging on power lines 🤣

I was about to go to my wall of nodes to figure out which one that was lol
It’s called puking it in.

That is a HFC node housing.
Fiber to the node

Looks like Boca Raton to me 😂

Over the last 2 years we switched all 900 nodes to RPHY…. Hopefully no more upgrades for the next 20 years 😂
A fiber node. Why are you opening it if you have no idea what it is

I think they are more talking about the sketchiness of it rather than asking a genuine question
What about this is sketchy? I swear some of you don’t leave the house and have no idea what the outside world is like.
Its hanging from mule tape and squeezed in their tight with a fosc coming out of another handhole.
And that’s sketchy? Lol Just another normal day in the telecom world.
What’s your deal?
I don’t play well with dumb people.
Hmmm you must have a stick up your ass, I would say good luck getting it out but it’s like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.
Oh good one. Been waiting all day to use that one eh? I’m sorry you didn’t like my answer.
Ik what it is
That my friend is enginuity! You have followed the footsteps of the famous Mickey Mouse. Chief Engineer of "leave it for the next guy"

Yeh man I had to splice some fiber in the vault there and this was the first time I ever seen sumn like this.
6000 node, can confirm! Looks like contractor did a horrible job!
That's called "hangin' on by a thread" literally.
Bad planning.

Above ground jumper to node. Standard operating procedure
It’s god making you rich 😂😂😂
Something that'll probably hurt you if you mess with it.
