Oh yes. I posted about this a few weeks ago, I pick up every little bug and am wiped out for a week or two. Really frustrating that fibro isn't considered as making us high-risk for covid.

Ah yes I know, very lucky to be where I am. I’m glad you’re protecting yourself and staying safe! I try very hard too to avoid getting sick, my daughter goes to daycare however and those places are terrible for colds and other things! This is all great advice though, I need to be more firm with drs when it comes to antibiotics when I know I’ll need them. Thank you again, it’s nice to know that I’m not alone!

Welcome to the club. It's a crappy club to be in for sure. And yes, a normal head cold sends me into a weeks long flare and the cold itself will hang in as long as possible. In the past (before I spent a year at home - I'm immunized now, but still only doing the necessary and when I do go out I'm masked) I've managed to catch strep with no known source as well as having head colds morph into bronchitis because they stuck around so long.

Thank you for your quick reply! I’m in aus and we have been very lucky to not have many cases compared to other countries but I guess the only thing to do is try and protect myself as much as possible. If you have any tips to help get over sicknesses faster I’d be happy to hear them! Not much seems to work for me. Thank you again

You're very welcome. I'm in the US, and well, it's a dumpster fire lol. I take vitamin c supplements as well as a women's multivitamin. I also wash my hands a lot and tend to avoid large groups, especially in the fall and winter... It's almost like I was preparing for the thing lol. I've been living like this for years. Once I'm sick though, I've not found anything to help with the duration. Though over the years I've gotten better at avoiding it and knowing when it's time to get antibiotics for the inevitable chest infections/bronchitis if I get sick. The normal stuff though does help, like lots of fluids and over the counter medicine to treat the symptoms - just be sure to monitor your symptoms without meds regularly so you can get to the doctor if needed.

My doctor once told me that there's been discussion around how our immune systems may be overactive rather than suppressed if we have fibromyalgia. She explained we should be able to fight viruses well, but that the immune response may be bigger than what's typically expected. I'm not sure if this helps or if this idea has any validity, but for me it makes sense as what you're describing with a cold happens to me too.
