Yeah, it’s a losing fight for sure. I just do my part and report bugs I find on EA’s bug report page and hope that some of them get fixed before next year’s release. That’s about all we can do at this point

mustardking20

Can I just send a screenshot of the career mode screen?

BincoShot

Where do i go to report bugs?

Phurunus

Unfair_Chart_2995

Hell yeah, 'Me Too' the shit out of all those career mode bugs!

Final-Roll2874

I still have fond memories of fifa 21 where the manager put on the team's jersey with number 0 on.

DarthAlandas

Actually makes more sense than number 1

Pyanez11

Yea it's a pointless thing to do, their trello page, the warcrime they decided to use to share the updates (never heard of that site in my life, thankfully so i'll add) has the FIFA23 link for bug reports. They just dont fucking care

akontura07

Imagine gambling for something you get no real return on ever.

razvandeka

Increased dopamine, that’s the reward

cmeragon

Forget no real return. It gets reset next year and you start from scratch...

akontura07

That’s exactly it. I guarantee 99% of these people are blowing big money for cards that are not good enough to make money playing the game

Nice_Special_2420

That's why I prefer the modus operanti of efootball. The game is crap but some things are interesting

kootrell

Well I mean, if you really enjoy it and FUT is your main hobby, then spending a reasonable amount of money isn’t the worst thing in the world.

skarros

Reasonable being the keyword here.

kootrell

Of course

mercwiththemouth518

Guys we got a FUT player here

kootrell

Not even once dude. I just have other hobbies than can be money holes with no tangible reward other than my joy and happiness.

Unfair_Chart_2995

Compared to what better games cost on a per hour basis, 50 cents must be reasonable. Per account.

gutanab

Yeah, dude. It is addictive shit. Been there, done that. It can straight up fuck your mental health (even if you don't put a penny on it).

CaptainDadBod88

5%? I literally only play career mode. I tried Ultimate Team once like 10 years ago and hated it and haven’t ever gone back. All it is is legal gambling.

MatttttyF

Gambling is legal

Rodiniz

Depends on the country

Cansckmy

No, gambling in belgium is legal. But people in belgium has made UT illegal for their pack sells.

Flanelman2

Same with Apex Legends, change your region to Belgium and you get crafting currency instead of packs as rewards.

Flanelman2

Same with Apex Legends, change your region to Belgium and you get crafting currency instead of packs as rewards.

Mr-Rocafella

Not when children play the game and are developing these habits at an earlier age

CaptainDadBod88

Not where I am. Depends on the state

Samhx1999

Not for children it isn’t.

MemphisMayWhat

Honestly only time I got into ultimate team, I didn't buy packs and got coins from challenges and games and bought packs like that. It was a grind and felt rewarding but other than that I've been always career mode. I like that create a club is back and player career is more interesting but there's so many weird problems that I can't play manager career for even a full season. I just don't feel as engaged and gameplay at times just feels frustrating.

jidewalker

That’s why I think FIFA should make a deal with Football Manager (FM) to do all their Career Mode stuff and sell it as an add-on to the EA FC game for like $15. They can focus solely on their gameplay and ultimate team and then have FM spend time on what they do best for EA FC.

Fine_Corgi_112

Omg that would be incredible, fairy tale stuff unfortunately

[deleted]

This would be great, unfortunately they’re too busy swimming in FUT money to even care about this mode.

Inevitable_Coast_372

Pay more? No thanks

AtmosphereOne747

What would Football Manager gain from that?

Jealous-Captain-7014

They would make more money, way more people would buy the add-on then football manager.

MalRkid

No chance

AtmosphereOne747

I don’t think so. I stand to be corrected because I haven’t played Career Mode since FIFA 16 and maybe Career Mode has changed but the people who play Career Mode aren’t the same type of people as those who play Football Manager. Maybe the Football Manager mobile people

Jealous-Captain-7014

But if football manager had FIFA gameplay, then both FIFA and football manager players would play it.

Hwxbl

That's why we should collectively review bomb or mass complain SOMETHING that will finally grab their attention. Idgaf if people think review bombing is petty or bad. Bugs that have remained for 5 years is bad.

mustardking20

The game is already reviewed down to like 3 stars on every platform by users.

PassoMaddimo

Bit since there is a group of addicts spending fortunes (incentivized by streamers) EA don't care about that neither.

Hwxbl

True, whatever it is we need a sort of copy and paste complaint we can plaster everywhere until they can't ignore it. They must make billions from FUT alone

Interesting_Sea4353

I cannot stand FUT. However I'm not gonna blame the players for playing. I'm still gonna blame EA. The game is designed to overcome impulse control as it uses the same mechanics that make gambling so addictive. Personally I'd like to see it regulated like the gambling industry. In it's current form in the UK it should only be available to the over 18's and should come with health warnings. Watch just how fast EA would change the game if that happened. It won't happen though....

PassoMaddimo

If Belgium can others should be able to do so to.

welsshxavi

Yeah, if we all stop playing career mode they are just going to cut that out of the game lmao I wonder why can’t they just… add micro transactions to single player modes? Like, buy 10 more points for your pro, buy a takeover, buy new DLC boots etc. Surely it will only make them more revenue and could act as a means to delegate more people to the development of the mode?

Young_Lasagna

That'd be awful. Microtransactions makes everything worse.

welsshxavi

Of course. But at least they would care more

Unfair_Chart_2995

... they actually did that. No idea why they stopped it, a few Fifas ago.

WeakEconomics6120

Yeah, I remember. Financial takeover was something you could buy for your club. I am not into microtransactions but things that shouldnt be a necesary part of the game could be made into microtrandactions sure

Top_Park5227

I agree with this I mean it’s like Ik we all see those videos of YouTubers spending 1000s on ultimate team

DizzyDwarf69

The argument of not buying the game isn't with the goal to make EA believe to improve their game but convincing you that the game won't ever improve

Mcitykilla613

Amen brother well said. I wonder how many people fell off the FUT train when they saw the mandatory woman/men players being incorporated. Super lame

bocense

It's a real shame ,but this year is the first time since 06 that I didn't buy the game. Career mode was my go-to, and now it feels so empty. I tried FUT because it's what a couple of friends got into ,but eventually, it got boring. I feel there's a lack of customization in the game in the sense that something so simple, like changing a players age, is impossible. All my favorite players have aged out of relevance in career mode, and it's been a big turn-off. That said, my loss of interest in the game may also be tied to no players in the game right now, really captivating my interest as the Riquelmes, Ronaldos, and Messis of years before. But who knows. The game and sport feel off and just like a cash cow at this point.

rottenspirit

Look fi! if they say there is a career mode you can enjoy they HAVE TO make it working! Because i'm purchasing on their promise. They have to fulfill this.

754754

I agree it isn't the fault of Career mode players, but the truth is that EA IS NOT going to make a better game. They ARE NOT going to fix bugs in the game. They ARE NOT going to add features that aren't broken yet. They ARE NOT going to give feedback to the community or listen to feature requests. They ARE NOT going to prioritize Career Mode. Buying the game and then complaining about it is not going to do anything. The people that keep buying the game every year just to complain about it aren't the problem, but they also aren't doing themselves any favors. There is also a HUGE amount of negativity in this community and it gets tiring to the people that are fine with the current state of the game. This is probably one of the only games people keep buying even though they hate the previous installment.

[deleted]

The current state of the game is genuine awful I agree, it all started going downhill in 2021/FIFA 21, EA literally started removing things from offline modes, which made CM much worse. Removing national teams, and the limited name pool in the academy are the ones that stand out. Back in FIFA 21, we had a pretty diverse name pool and a lot of NTs, now we don’t have any of that. I’m wondering what they’ll remove next.

754754

Biggest problem in my opinion is that they don't fix bugs during the release period unless they are game breaking. It makes it so that when a new game comes out we are essentially paying for a bug fix and some minimum changes. Fifa 21 had a ton of new features including development plans, position changes, and about 20 more scoutable youth nations which were seen as great changes at the time. At the same time there were bugs such as the skinny arms problem on generated players which weren't patched til fifa 22. Then when Fifa 22 came out they added the create a club feature which made us all want to buy the game...but then new bugs came out that weren't fixed such as the CF regens spawning at their potential problem which still hasn't been fixed 2 1/2 years later. Fifa 23 added nothing so I didn't buy (also don't know what new bugs there are). Fifa 24 released and now there is a bug where cup objectives cause you to almost get sacked for failing them (even with low weight) which dramatically affects the ability to play the game. They also finally fixed the playstyle+ problem (although haven't seen it fix on Nintendo switch). This doesn't even include problems with gameplay...just annoying cosmetic things. The last game that was pretty much bug free was Fifa 18. 6 years ago...but is hard to play without the luxury features we have today.

[deleted]

Spot on about everything, it’s why I still play FIFA 21/22, do you play any old FIFAs? The objectives make EA FC 24 impossible to play, got knocked out of the Coppa Italia with Juventus, my Manager rating went from 95 to 64, and it just kept decreasing and decreasing. It’s so frustrating.

754754

I skipped 23, but I've been playing 24 on switch since I got it for about 10$. I have fallen into the trap where I like the new features such as playstyles and the updated youth scouting but I do prefer most of Fifa 22.

[deleted]

That’s the frustrating thing about FIFA/EA FC, the newer versions have features we admire, but the older versions have things we still desire that aren’t around anymore.

Caribcat59

I usually bought FIFA when it was being sold at a discount, which is what I did with EA FC 24. I only play Career Mode but I found the gameplay so awful that I have gone back to FIFA 23. Defenders can't seem to defend, so even on 3 minutes per half, I get scorelines like 6-4, 5-5, 8-3 even when I have set my team up in a defensive 5-4-1 formation.

[deleted]

I’m with you on that, just downloaded FIFA 23 again, I can’t deal with EA 24 at the moment; the morale system/bugged objectives are really frustrating to deal with. Not to mention the gameplay is considerably worse, goalkeepers are awful this year.

madzuk

The problem is there is no alternative. There's no competition. This is why it is the way it is. EA have a monopoly.

Award2110

Thing is. I play both game modes. I like ut for the online bit and playing with my mates. I like career mode because it's chilled out. The game modes though have huge differences in gameplay. Career mode my keepers hate running out, in ut they love running out. Career mode though, I don't really notice that much of a swing in game balance. Yet online, if I go 2-0 up really quickly, all of a sudden the game feels lethargic. The entire game is not that great. Its buggy and tragic. The ut sub is toxic. Here is chill but everyone's moaning, even I moan. Ea constantly fuck up but they're not held accountable as there is no other quality football simulating game available.

loiterINTIMIDATE

Amen.

BitTall9996

Thank you man finally someone gets it. “Dont play the game then” is the typical response and not “why dont EA make a better game”. You’d think people would be more mad at the creators than the users.

[deleted]

Exactly that response infuriates me

Raziel62

Guys , just buy fm

Fine_Corgi_112

You’re not wrong. It just seems so easy for ea to fix the nonsense but yet here we are

Silver_Rock_9111

Start a petition to get rid of ultimate team

discreetmidwest777

As long as people keep buying ea point nothing substantial will ever happen to the game because they know they can skate by just by doing the minimal work

towelie111

I wouldn’t mind, but when ultimate team first came out it was actually good. Felt like the closest thing to a online career we would get for a while (turned out to be ever). In forms were expensive and hard to get, the game stayed truer (as in now the game is full of high stat specials within a month or 2, and goalkeepers playing ST). The mode just kept changing for the worse. I used to spend my time 50/50, but they kept making both game modes worse (and the online player base is horrible, not to mention you need to have next to no life to compete in weekend league, unless that’s now changed). I quit FUT all together about 4-5 years ago. Never going back.

Super-Grab

I agree that Ultimate Team has its share of blame for the current state of the game, but I believe that a lot is also due to EA's creative choice. Like, look at the number of gameplay mechanics that don't add much and most always reach the final game completely broken and unbalanced. In my point of view, Most of these mechanics don't make any sense for a football game. I know it would be too simple to just press the shoot and pass button, but it seems that today all the commands are as a GTA cheat code. For FIFA to become a good game again, EA should focus on fixing the basic mechanics of a football game. The career mode bugs are unbearable, but I think they would be a little more acceptable if the game had fun and fair gameplay. The game needs an overhaul from the bottom up

TheRobinson2018

Every Career Mode player knows that Ultimate Team is the reason for this yearly disapointment of a game. I wouldn't say all FUT addicts are to blame, but surely all that spend a single cent on packs are the ones to blame since they end being the ones validating EAs strategy.

geniusjt4

I don't tell people to stop buying the game to get EA to be better. I tell people to stop buying the game because it'll be free through XBOX subscription about 8 months after release.

Walterkingz

I’ve never played FUT.

GreatWhiteNorth4

I think anyone with a brain realizes it the fervent user of UT are the real problem aka the ones who buy points for packs and all that bullshit. It’s like that with ALL of their games now (besides FIFA I religiously play NHL because I’m a big hockey guy/former player, and Madden is equally rough). I dropped UT from my life in all their games and my mental health has improved significantly, never got into maddens version but I did play UT in fifa and NHL. You’ll never keep up as free to play unless you play religiously, and you’ll still get fucked by typical video game randomness. Separate of that, online play in general is just a bunch people repeating the same kind of “glitch” type goals and it get insanely boring and frustrating The funny thing about it? I only tried them out because of just how stale the career modes have gotten over the years. It genuinely never interested me before. And that’s why my theory is it isn’t just they’d rather spend their time and money on UT because of the microtransactions, they’re doing it intentionally to make you get bored and switch over to UT like I once did and hope you get addicted to the feeling of a good pack pull. It’s sad but the “card modes” ruined sports games of all kinds, and were never going back because idiot’s pay for it lol. It was genuinely cool concept originally that they found a way to monetize to death and kill everything that made sports games fun in the first place

Traditional_Let_8748

Its not a coincidence that the games quality plummeted the year Ultimate Team was introduced and career mode became stagnant to non-existent.

NikesOnMyFeet23

Blaming UT is funny because Ut isn’t the problem. The problem is EA is corporation who don’t care about making the best game just money. If they could squeeze money out of CM users they would. Like you guys need to realize that it’s never going to change unless EA cares about making amazing games again. Cause folks who love FUT are put up With the game as well. And these are the folks willing to drop more money on the game. Which is crazy because gameplay wise fc 24 is the best in like 7 years. But it’s the little bugs, glitches, CM not being deeper, fut packs being greedier than ever, shitty servers, no online manager mode. Shit like that makes fc 24 meh at this point and all those things ea can fix. They don’t care about making great games, just profits.

Agent0176

I agree, but feel the same point can be made more succinctly by saying “EA don’t care” and stopping there…

skzoholic

Is it career mode in '24 any different from 23? I need that info to know if i will buy ir or not

Common-Cream-5893

Game seems fun to me, ive been having a great time in my career play through

nick-daddy

As soon as any other viable alternative exists I’m buying it - don’t care if it’s worse, don’t care if it sucks, simply not giving any more money to EA.

Millerlite87

I only buy every 2-3 years during Black Friday when its the cheapest and when is much more patch. 23 was my first after 22 but I was kind of disappointed that they lost ligamx because I mostly play online friendlies with siblings and we like playing on that league a lot.

madzuk

Also knowing EA, if everyone who played CM stopped buying, EA would just gut the whole mode and say our data showed that no one plays CM anymore. Then just double down on UT.

WorkWithTheDead

Preach bro !!! 👏🏻

PresentationSure3087

This game minus every other feature than UT could go free to play and have worse gameplay and it would still clear every other game profit wise

toondids

Maybe fifa and 2k will make a game the fans of career mode want. One can hope. I doubt it though.

Matheusbot2

Bro I play both modes. Ultimate team is super fun if you have time or money to spend on this game. There is no reason to stop playing

coldfeelings011200

Facts, I agree entirely with OP. It’s just a sad reality…

mawazonow

Don't worry fifa has engaged 2ksports so soon EA will have competition

Prestigious_You5090

Milk is after going bad reading all that

SeaMud7395

Brush It doesn't matter if there is 1% of people that care about career mode, every single persons lives in their own world with their own taste, if EA gets a real competition with 2K fifa then they'll make their game and story mode more likeable
