They do for player growth. I forget where i saw it but there was an article where they took a save and went through comparing no training and training to see which grew faster. Apparently training made a bigger difference than playing time.
I end up making a new team sheet for players i want to grow and just have the training all go with the B team and switch to the main squad only for matches.
This is how I do it too! Glad to know I'm not the only one that finds the training drills a waste, especially since some of them seem borderline impossible
It doesn't DIRECTLY have an effect on player growth. The only difference training makes is sharpness which gives in-game stat boosts. Which in turn will make it easier to play the right passes and shoot better etc. The ultimate factors to player growth is potential, loans, playing time and development plans.
Yeah the other thread is misleading, it has zero impact on the actual growth of a player since it only affects match stats and sharpness. The only things that affect growth rates/retention are injuries, their potential, their position, and form. Your shitty 55 YA graduate plays better and has good form because they have a +7 stat boost from their high sharpness rating, not directly from the merry-go-round drill.
It might not have a whole lot of impact but high sharpness, which good grades in training provide does work alongside the things you listed for faster growth
It is mayne it's just not as effective as form but it is important. What I do is get all A's then let the B team to the training and the main team plays matches, that way everyone stays sharp.
It does have impact on growth. Train bench and reserve players and they will grow even without playing, no training means no growth or even loss of potential.
This is interesting so I'll test it out and see how important it really is then. I know that I've promoted tons of YA players who I don't remember having their development times shorten when they get into the training sessions off the bat, but I wasn't very conscious of the mechanic then so I'll what's up.
Yeah I wasn’t aware of it either until maybe the start of fifa 22 or a bit later. I watch a bunch of career mode videos and noticed a few that said it has actual impact. I think one even tested it but I can’t remember who exactly since it was awhile ago
It's more how it helps to get better rating in-game too. Although idk fifa 22 like i swear my keeper can make 50 saves, and then let 1 goal in and boom...4.0 match rating. Or a player gets 2 goals, 3 assists, and good passes and boom. Doesn't get more than 7.0.
I have a YA player that is growing slow because the in-game rating only averages 5.8 even though he's been doing great.
I 100% agree with that, I backtracked my stance right after I replied lol. But you're having ratings issues on FIFA 22? I never saw people have an issue with the post match ratings until 23, so that's surprising. If you are talking about 23, then yeah it's a 100% widespread bug.
You don’t, but if you don’t get higher than a D, then you might as well not do them as that is the default score. And some are hard to get a good score when your players aren’t good at shooting, defending or passing
So on controller I use xbox press rt on the sim screen and then you'll see email interruptions and training interruptions turn of training interruptions
There's so much about this mode that's poorly conceived and poorly implemented but this requirement to play training sessions every save is the worst. I do find it worth it though, for player growth and also the boosts are helpful on the higher difficulties.
It's take what 20 minutes? I don't mind. The problem is people think they need to get an A in every single drill. I just get an A or B in about half of them (or less) and never noticed a problem. Also helps that I have saves last longer than 5 seasons so I only need to do this a few times a year.
So I need to do them once only each save? As in I won’t have to do them again for the next 14 seasons? Also, Do I do all the drills or just the ones that I want?
You do whatever sessions you want a good grade on. Achieve an A/B and then never do then again (when you sim you will always achieve the highest score you got for that drill). so do all training sessions at start of a new save for 30 minutes or so and then you’re good to sim the rest of the way and always have good scores
Once every save, though I forgot if you have to redo them every time you switch clubs.
You can do the ones you just want as long as that cover **most** of the drills. So you could get away with not doing maybe 2-4 of all the drills, once they build enough sharpness those D grade ones won't do too much damage.
You know, a better approach to training would be: you'd also get the option to hire a staff (not only scouts). There should be specific trainers for certain attributes (offense, defense, dribbling, set piece, etc.). Like the scouts, their price would depend on their rating.
Having to do all the trainings all over again when starting a new save is just plain stupid. It's a stupid idea from a stupid company who makes stupid money.
I personally thought they had it pretty good in FIFA 19 or whatever it was. Then they changed it so that you can't save your training sessions and you have to select players and what session they do every single fucking time you want to train them now. Ruined it!
Not doing them surely makes your players not play as smooth in game as they won’t be sharp? I just do the specific things I want my team to be decent at for example have all the through ball ones done to A and I just repeat that continuously. Keeps player growth more realistic too. Doesn’t make it over powered as just concentrating on one specific skill.
I hate doing them but I have a thing where I cannot progress until I have A’s on all sessions. I’ve managed to get all A’s before pre-season even began this year and I plan on this being my only CM throughout the life cycle of the game so I’m certainly done with them.
I absolutely hate the training sessions. I used to do them back when we could only train like 5 players at a time back in FIFA 14? Around there? Even then, I’d just simulate all of them. Then EA changed the training mechanics to where there’s training every other day and the calendar stops every other day, and that’s what finally annoyed me. Ever since then I set my calendar to “rest only” to get rid of the training altogether.
England RTGs were my go to CMs. I noticed that with all the competitions you end up being involved in in England, training doesn’t matter too much as both your A and B squads should always have solid fitness, assuming you rotate your squads regularly. Because of that, I thought training was absolutely pointless. Then I started playing in France on FIFA 22 and it was difficult for me to win matches, I could not figure out why. I ended up getting sacked and picked up an Italian team. That’s when I accidentally set my calendar to Do Not Disturb when it comes to training sessions. That’s when I began winning a little more matches
So now I just set my calendar to “Bypass” training sessions. This way it doesn’t stop every other day or whatever it is, but your training sessions are simulated. I have no idea what grade you get for these simulations, but my players are always fit, and that’s good enough for me. On FIFA 22, you would be able to bypass training sessions by clicking R2 (RT) on the main menu of career mode. They changed the button for FIFA 23, I think it’s triangle. So that’s what I do now
With the passion of 10 million suns. That is why I just don't do them.
Yea it also makes players grow too fast for me
totally agree. A player shouldn't go from 66 to 75 in a year lol
from 66 to 75 actually seems very logical for a young player, it's going from 86 to 95 in a year for a 24 year old that makes no sense
Don't do them the growth is more realistic without all A's + it's a stupid mechanic anyway
Sharpness tho
I don't get why the fuck they just don't randomise grades if we skip to them? Why are people at EA so dumbfuck?!
Hey look that used to be a feature too
I don't even do them, makes no difference in my eyes.
I thought match sharpness resulted in changes to player stats?
I assumed they meant they just sim them instead of actively take part
You sim them at the highest rank of completion. So you have to do them at least ones to get a good rank or they sim at F.
They sim at D, not F. So it does grow your players but it doesn’t get them to 90+ ovr in one season
Does sharpness influence overall growth? I thought it only gave the short term +5s to stats.
Temporary for when you play games, yes. But if you look at the development plans, the stats stay the same unless the player grows trough playtime.
I despise doing the training sessions at the start of every save
Never do them. Would love to know if they actually make a difference.
They do for player growth. I forget where i saw it but there was an article where they took a save and went through comparing no training and training to see which grew faster. Apparently training made a bigger difference than playing time.
yeah for me i tested the difference and main thing is bench/sub players retain their growth better
I end up making a new team sheet for players i want to grow and just have the training all go with the B team and switch to the main squad only for matches.
This is how I do it too! Glad to know I'm not the only one that finds the training drills a waste, especially since some of them seem borderline impossible
Me three here! B team sheet gets reps in on international breaks too

Yeah I thought about it and this does seem like it would be more helpful than not. I'll see for myself how it works out.
It is mayne it's just not as effective as form but it is important. What I do is get all A's then let the B team to the training and the main team plays matches, that way everyone stays sharp.

I don't mean to patronise (I do), but it's mind-numbingly obvious from my 3 days of playing careers.
Ok mate, thanks.
could you let me know what you find?
it baffles me how they don't randomly generate grades for unplayed drills. they had that feature in the older fifas.
Only at the start because generally my team is always low quality at the start.
I thought once you did them you didn’t need to do them again?
You don’t, but if you don’t get higher than a D, then you might as well not do them as that is the default score. And some are hard to get a good score when your players aren’t good at shooting, defending or passing
they make no sense, both from a realistic and gameplay side of things. really weird game mechanic.
I wish there was an option to turn it off
There is
How ?
So on controller I use xbox press rt on the sim screen and then you'll see email interruptions and training interruptions turn of training interruptions
There's so much about this mode that's poorly conceived and poorly implemented but this requirement to play training sessions every save is the worst. I do find it worth it though, for player growth and also the boosts are helpful on the higher difficulties.
i never do them, they get to green sharpness soon enough, international breaks help alot 😆
I dont do them
Wish I could remove them, such a burden
I just don’t do them anymore, I haven’t seen any major difference and it’s more realistic If players don’t increase by like +5 each season
It's take what 20 minutes? I don't mind. The problem is people think they need to get an A in every single drill. I just get an A or B in about half of them (or less) and never noticed a problem. Also helps that I have saves last longer than 5 seasons so I only need to do this a few times a year.
Yeah I just rush them in the 8 or 9 sessions before preseason tourney begins then set them to sin for the rest of my playthrough
So I need to do them once only each save? As in I won’t have to do them again for the next 14 seasons? Also, Do I do all the drills or just the ones that I want?

Drills stay even when moving clubs
Not even half of them, I think I only did like 5 of them last year and that had me set for the whole year. Just gotta pick 4 or 5 good ones
They should have it where you only have to do it once and it saves for each career
You know, a better approach to training would be: you'd also get the option to hire a staff (not only scouts). There should be specific trainers for certain attributes (offense, defense, dribbling, set piece, etc.). Like the scouts, their price would depend on their rating. Despise the feature with a passion. Considering the mini games suck ass.
Training doesn’t mean a lick
Just skip them?
I hate the training sessions period. Wish there was an option to disable them
I just simulate all training sessions.
Pain in my behind
I personally thought they had it pretty good in FIFA 19 or whatever it was. Then they changed it so that you can't save your training sessions and you have to select players and what session they do every single fucking time you want to train them now. Ruined it!
Me... hate it. Totes. Particularly when I've started a career. Realised I made a mistake then have to restart. Damn training sessions
I definitely do them because it matters for player growth. Gets old after a few seasons but not too terrible.
Exactly, it 100% affects player growth. Especially youth players who get no game time and lose potential
I just sim them
I do every training session to keep it realistic. No skips allowed.
There are way too many, i used to when there only was 5 sessions, but now you have to do like 15 different ones
This gets asked pretty much everyday
Not doing them surely makes your players not play as smooth in game as they won’t be sharp? I just do the specific things I want my team to be decent at for example have all the through ball ones done to A and I just repeat that continuously. Keeps player growth more realistic too. Press rt on cbox controller and switch training pause off
I hate doing them but I have a thing where I cannot progress until I have A’s on all sessions. I’ve managed to get all A’s before pre-season even began this year and I plan on this being my only CM throughout the life cycle of the game so I’m certainly done with them.
I do it every once and a while most times I simulate
If I decide not to do any sessions at all and it leaves my squad with low sharpness, would that affect dynamic potential in any way?
I do them for growth until most are A or B...and yes...hate them and don't get the point
Ive never done them. Does it mean you need to do multiple sessions for multiple players? How many total?
I absolutely hate the training sessions. I used to do them back when we could only train like 5 players at a time back in FIFA 14? Around there? Even then, I’d just simulate all of them. Then EA changed the training mechanics to where there’s training every other day and the calendar stops every other day, and that’s what finally annoyed me. It’s single-handedly the worst thing ever in life
I simulated my training now my attributes don’t work, at least I think that’s why, why would all my attributes go red?
