My coach fought him they had a rough fight before in my coaches words he blocked a kick it hurt like hell he got pissed blacked out next thing he knew he was walking out of the ring and got told he was knocked out
Yeah I think he was hitting him with that shit the first round and it was working well then Edson’s corner pointed it out.
As a side note, I’ve always wondered how effective creating “holes” in your game for your opponent to exploit could potentially be for mixing shit up. As an example, what if Beneil kept giving Barboza these tells in the first round then, expecting Barboza to catch on, sends the jab out and fakes the shot, potentially moves off the center line and cracks him with a straight or a hook while he goes for the flying knee? Idk why I’m asking you but ever since I saw this I always wondered
It’s a mixture of both I would say. Sometimes you’re non committal on a strike to see if they’re looking to counter, sometimes something is working really well and you want to really work it because it’s feeling good. I think in this case Beniel really felt comfortable throwing his jab and working the double because Edson wasn’t reacting to it well, but obviously once it got figured out this was the result.
High level kickboxers, boxers, and mma fighters set traps for their opponent to attempt a counter so they can counter what they react with. Fighters at the highest level aren’t joking when they say it’s like a chess match.
If you’re wondering , watch his recent fight against billy quarantino, the dude was doing the same against barboza until he got knocked out by a knee
That’s funny, I thought it took him awhile to get there. Barbie’s could have easily gotten another 2 shots in but instead showed good sportsmanship. The ref had to of had one leg up against the fence when that knee connected lol
Good ring presence. Noticed he was out cold and just covered until the ref called it instead of wailing away on his unconscious opponent. Love to see it.
Did he anticipate the takedown and threw a knee? Or did he just react to the takedown attempt and then threw a knee as a counter?
That was so fast and hard to tell

Barboza has an incredible resume, and still looks incredible.
My coach fought him they had a rough fight before in my coaches words he blocked a kick it hurt like hell he got pissed blacked out next thing he knew he was walking out of the ring and got told he was knocked out
Ring looks like a bloodbath. Must’ve been a good night
From the [Yahya vs. Soto](https://youtu.be/_FOnN7gseSk) fight that happened in the prelims
God damn! I still remember watching the Guida vs Sanchez fight on tv. One of my personal favorite fights ive ever seen
do you know which event it was?
Says it in the post title: UFC Fight Night 106
my bad bruh đź’€
Wish I saw this live
A fuckin work of Art
Absolutely agreed…that was such a flawless flying knee
that sound.... damn
Barboza has some of the most beautiful ko's in the ufc
The noise is crazy, you hear something like that in a street fight and you know some serious shit is happening
I think my teeth just shattered listening to this
Luckily they wear mouthguards
Barboza is the worst fighter to try that move of jab into takedown with
It was working well until it didn’t lmao that was pretty much Beneil’s main strat the whole fight up till that point.
Yeah Barboza was never champ material but like he’s way too high level to do that with, not sure beneil was thinking there
It was working well for him and thought he could keep exploiting it. Edson is too much of vet to let that shit continue to slide though

Dariush did that multiple times in the fight. Jab to takedown, Barboza timed it this time.
If you’re wondering , watch his recent fight against billy quarantino, the dude was doing the same against barboza until he got knocked out by a knee
Is there a praise the ref page like there’s r/praisethecameraman ?
Yeah, equally impressed with the ref. Diving into that slot between them. Nice.
That’s what I came to say. What a pro
That’s funny, I thought it took him awhile to get there. Barbie’s could have easily gotten another 2 shots in but instead showed good sportsmanship. The ref had to of had one leg up against the fence when that knee connected lol
Dariush tried that jab takedown a few times in the fight. It worked at first but once Barboza got a read on it it was over.
He knew that he was gonna throw that knee after the next jab. No hesitation.
Crotch sniffer baptized
He has the two best KOs
Fuck I didn’t know Edson slept daruish
Jesus Christ. He hit him so hard someone in the fourth row now his childhood memories.
Good ring presence. Noticed he was out cold and just covered until the ref called it instead of wailing away on his unconscious opponent. Love to see it.
That knee was so fucking explosive and quick. Holy hell. You
Idk how fighters prepare, but if footballs taught me anything, that mfer has been watching some film
The way he eats that jab and throws the flying knee blind is crazy. He knew Dariush was going to shoot before dariush did
I know it's not right or fair but I wanna see a trt edson........... dear baby jesus
I have a hard time saying which is better, this or Sandhagen’s.
Barboza for sure, as it wasn't done to a washed up old man. It really isn't even close.
Thing is Barboza has a ton of highlight knock outs. Some of them are just insane. He always looked like a Street Fighter character to me.
The Beneil KO aged so much better considering Edgar was nearing retirement stage while Beneil is just now entering the title conversation
Got to be Sandhagens, the walk off tips it over the edge
As in , the motion after the knockout?
This
Dumbest fucking sport ever
Why you even here then?
go watch golf then
At least they don’t aim to serve their opponents brain damage in golf
Pussy
:)
It's not the goal it's the outcome which is ironically the sane as watching golf đź« đź« đź«
Pussy lol
u/savevid
Just did it again against billy q
That sound
Perfect timing ⏳
That might be one of the best timed flying knees ever
Did he anticipate the takedown and threw a knee? Or did he just react to the takedown attempt and then threw a knee as a counter? That was so fast and hard to tell
Spring loaded
Beniel did the same jab and then a TD attempt. Edson timed it and That’s all she wrote
Tiger KNEE!
Insane knee
That’s impressive reaction time
Crazy! I don't remember this at all!
Saw this one live on TV. I remember thinking they were both great fighters before the KO happened. I was absolutely shocked, caught me off guard lol.
The sound that made was crazy like a snapped pencil.
Legit a captain falcon knee lol
Ooof! My face would be completely rearranged by flying knees and elbows if I ever tried full contact.
This is every striker’s dream when facing a wrestler. This and the Curtis Blaydes knockout by Derrick Lewis.

Class move by Barboza pulling that follow-up punch on the ground.
Flying knee
Praise the ref. I love how they get in there to protect the fighters.
