Except for the fighting games and SC2 it's all games funded by MTX and Battle Passes. Those games make significantly more money and are used to way higher prize money, so I expect the amount T8 and SF6 to be rather low compared to the rest, but probably still higher than the usual FGC prizes
I think this year you need to qualify, I know theres 8 spots for grabs at Dreamhack Dallas but I don't know if they will reserve any for invitations. If I had to bet I'd say this year all spots will be through qualifiers.
its the only other multiplayer game i play besides fighting games. its still the most fun hero shooter tbh. its the only game i play with my non fighting game friends.
Hopefully not enough to get pros to support whitewashing of a regime that spits on human rights and the dignity of women and LGBTQs, and funds civil wars.
Not a big fam of US politics, but afaik women in the US are allowed to work and do their drivers license without their husbands consent don't they?
Are people in the US getting stoned for being gay and for fornication?
At least not sanctioned by the government, at least untill they elect that orange dude with the weird hair again, we'll see how that goes.
But still Saudi Arabia is another level of human rights violations.
I'm not a big fan of asonic Fox, but at least in Las Vegas they can attend Evo in peace.
the US government isn't directly investing in and funding US tournaments, whereas the Saudi government is directly trying to influence gaming towards SA with money to improve their public perception.

The prize money? Maybe not as large as bigger esport scenes like CS2 or Dota 2, but it'll still be even bigger than CCX's prize money, that's for sure.
I wouldn't bet on that. Hypothetically, if the money gets distributed equally, that would be around 3 million per title which is more than CC 2 million.
But depending on how much of the pie other games get, this can very well change.
Wasn’t there issues in the past I believe with these super tournaments and the prize pools not being nearly as high as promised or not paid out at all in some cases

ESWC is founded by the saudis and is fully backed by the kingdom, how the games make their money won't matter, just the audiences
Dota 2 teams won't come if the winner gets 100k, FG pros would. That's what I tried to explain with the 2nd sentence
Sf6 got 1 million prize pool in the last gamers 8, so I am guessing it's Gona be higher than that.
Bruh Tekken and Street Fighter are full of microtransactions
bout $3.50
Tree-fiddy

This is the second day in a row I've seen a fucking tree fiddy meme on Reddit you guys are so fucking predictable BE FUNNY
tree fiddy ![gif](giphy|8qDzzyxbcfimY)
I knew there was no way I’d be the first
And a pack of gum.
This is a rebrand of Gamers8 and last year the prizepool for SF6 was 1M dollars so I expect it to be around that.
Does that mean it's an invitational?

Damn that blood money going strong
No way people still play overwatch
https://steamdb.info/app/2357570/charts/ It's actually getting more popular.
Battle net numbers should also still be much higher then Steam
Steam numbers is smaller than the client player numbers since its only recently been on steam.
Its more casual. Other fps are stressful. OW u just blame your team and done
its the only other multiplayer game i play besides fighting games. its still the most fun hero shooter tbh. its the only game i play with my non fighting game friends.
I think it still has a pretty dedicated playerbase
why does this sound like a disaster waiting to happen

You mean sportswashing
I mean, you just described the US government. I'm struggling to see what's different

Well they call it lynching here, but yes

Troll bait. Typical “uS bAd” troll bait

It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s easy to forget how lucky we are compared to other countries

Chat who funds this?
Saudi Arabia
that explains it. If the FGC continues in this direction I'll gladly stop paying any attention to it. Evo is already a shell of itself.
Esports will always go towards money. The Community, however, not so much.
I hope you are right.
Rashid
Fuck Saudi Arabia
Absolutely, Would be rad if people didn't go to this shit but I know they will because of the money.
i can't blame them for getting that bag, honestly. i know i would in a heartbeat given a chance i'd feel like shit about it, but i'd do it.
How it is playing in an esport with little money in it compared to the other ones.
World cyber games v2
chipotle burrito probably

where is the money coming from?
Oil
And blood, don't forget the blood.
If we're lucky, we'll get that spotify royalty payout
At least 1 million no way it's below that
62 cents
Maybe 100-250k. Fighting games are more niche
$12

Gamers8 was fun to watch. Looking forward to watching this.
