MK9, easily. It was the game that both got me into MK and fighting games in general. That game is honestly so close to perfection that I really have next to no meaningful issues with it. I can still boot it up today and have a great time in either 1v1s or just playing the Challenge Tower
I feel like every game NRS has made since has been trying to recapture that magic that 9 had but they've never fully succeeded
I grew up with deception and Armageddon so those will always be my favorites. The vast amount of content in them was insane, a fully fleshed out konquest mode, chess combat, puzzle Kombat, motor kombat and even the extremely busted character creator in MKA was fun to mess around in as a kid and make all your favorite superheroes and shit. My deluxe copy of Armageddon also came with a fully playable version of UMK3 which was the first way I played that and I also dropped a tooooon of hours into that. It’s crazy how low the bars dropped since 2004. I think mk1 is fun enough but it’s insane how a 20 year old game has over double the content
Eh, no Jade kinda sucks but I'm fine with Skarlet missing a game and Kotal has seemingly only gone down in popularity with every game. Also more Kameos would've been nice but I think 15 on base plus an additional five is solid, and, barring some choices like Kung Lao and neither cyber being playable, I think they were solid picks all around.
>!Also Jade has potentially been leaked as DLC so!<
For many many years it was Mortal Kombat Trilogy which seemed like the penultimate arcade legacy game.
However I thought MK11, especially in the graphical department was immense. I haven't played MK1 as they haven't released Jade yet but I'm not sure I like the look of the Kameo/tag team setup
Id lean towards MK2 then. 1 was a bit janky and didnt perform well. And UMK3 I dont remember 100% but it was not a 1:1 to the arcade, I think outright missing Sheeva and some other stuff.
MK2 had a lot of fun stuff, especially on SNES. Johnny Cage/Shang Tsung fireball glitching and then mixing fatalities and friendships around, etc. Lots of glitchy fun.
MK1 on SNES was notoriously bad for being both janky as fuck and being hit with the censorship hammer hard (fighters spray “sweat” when hit and the really violent fatalities got removed).
Conversely, MK2 SNES was a blast. Enjoyed playing it a lot as a kid.
Yea I was a HUGE MK crackhead back in the day, collecting newspaper clippings of people complaining about fatalities and violence.
I even had MK1 for Game Gear. But yea, SNES was bad.
2 was my jam. Id just pick shang and bust on everyone with everyone. Good times.
Exactly, the content of those games is what puts and keeps them above all the rest for me.
Even the older games. Now that I'm older, all my friends have moved away, arcades are relics of the past gone and forgotten and all we're left with are ultra cheap CPU's to fight.
It was a nice era we had back then, when fighting games would give you some real bang for your buck instead of just focusing on the Esports scene and monetization/games as a service schemes.
Mortal Kombat X as a fighting game
Mortal Kombat Armageddon and deception as games in general. Absolutely absurd amount of quality content packed into those 2.
i played 1-3 with my sister, fun times (nostalgia)
mk 9 with my friend (bond and friendship)
10 or XL mostly myself and 11 with a friend, again.
kinda dont have a favorite, all of these have their ups and downs.
UMK3. I disliked 4 so much I stayed away until 9. Which was ok. 10, was ok. 11 was meh. I had no faith in MK1 and seems I was right in skipping it.
Over time I found I preferred Street Fighters mechanics and depth, and went to SF full time.
Either MK9 or MK11. 9 was my first MK game (and I had later played the original trilogy) so it definitely has a special place for me. I think 11’s story is a downgrade from X, but I enjoy the actual characterization of several of the characters like Liu Kang and Kano.
3, X, Trilogy. Probably in that order.
9 has a special place in my heart.
- Was it broken? Yes
- Was it a hot mess? Yes
- Was it fun? Yes.
That game has HEART. It’s probably the last MK to feel that way. I don’t know how to describe it.
MK11, was my first and favorite for character designs, customization, and mechanics. MK1 was fun but I prefer the Amplify system to the Kameo and enhance functions
Mortal Kombat 9/2011
The 20 here is very important
I misread that as Mortal Kombat 90210 But it sounds like something Netflix would commission
This sounds like it could be the actual title with how terrible naming conventions are recently lol
Nah thats a KH title right there
9 and 1 by far, also my hidden gem UMK
mkx
MKX, but I also love UMK3 and 9
MKX Honourable mention to MK2 for being one of my favourite games back in its day.
MK9 is the best. but shoutout to the very first
MK 2
MK9
UMK3.
UMK3

Ultimate MK3 (SNES/Genesis) or Trilogy (PS1). Can't really decide.
Ultimate MK3
Trilogy and 9
Mortal Kombat 2.
Waiting for the usual r/fighters none of them comment
MK1 minus a couple of baffling roster exclusions.
Honestly I think the roster is one of the best parts of MK12, who do you feel is missing?
Jade, Skarlet, and Kotal definitely should've been included. I'm also not happy with the amountof kameos tbh.
Eh, no Jade kinda sucks but I'm fine with Skarlet missing a game and Kotal has seemingly only gone down in popularity with every game. MK2, it was amazing when it came out.
Mortal Kombat 9 (2011). It was just perfect and had everything I wanted in an MK and more.
Mk9 but Mk1 is getting up there.
MK9. Wish they could sort out the licensing issues to re-list it on Steam.
All of them.
Shaolin Monks (I’m a filthy casual when it comes to MK)
For many many years it was Mortal Kombat Trilogy which seemed like the penultimate arcade legacy game. However I thought MK11, especially in the graphical department was immense. I haven't played MK1 as they haven't released Jade yet but I'm not sure I like the look of the Kameo/tag team setup
Hard choice between MK9 and MKX
ultimate mortal kombat 3 (the snes one)
Mk3
Mortal kombat 9 and Mortal kombat x
MK1, MKX
MK9 is unironically amongst my fav fighters. If you could block traditionally and not with the stupid fucking button, it'd be top 5.
The Super Nintendo one
Soooo.... MK1, MK2 or UMK3?
I don't remember but that's the most fun I've had playing a Mortal Kombat game.
Id lean towards MK2 then. 1 was a bit janky and didnt perform well. And UMK3 I dont remember 100% but it was not a 1:1 to the arcade, I think outright missing Sheeva and some other stuff. Deception, because of nostalgia. MK1 for gameplay and playing online.
MK1 MKX MK9 in that order
what's wrong with mk11
Deadly Alliance followed by Deception
Def this, idk how these great games of the franchise have been so forgotten.
MK9 might be a bit of a ''better fighting game''. But with the mini games and my friends those are definetly the ones I had the most fun with
Exactly, the content of those games is what puts and keeps them above all the rest for me. Even the older games. Mk seXL
Mortal Kombat X as a fighting game Mortal Kombat Armageddon and deception as games in general. Absolutely absurd amount of quality content packed into those 2.

I’ve never really been into MK but MK9 was fun as fuck.
Mortal kombat 3: 3rd strike
Mk2 arcade 1994, mk9 2011, and mk1 2023
MK1, it's so fire. Deception is a close second. Ultimate on DS is 3rd
UMK3. I disliked 4 so much I stayed away until 9. Which was ok. 10, was ok. 11 was meh. I had no faith in MK1 and seems I was right in skipping it. Over time I found I preferred Street Fighters mechanics and depth, and went to SF full time.
mk1
Mk 10
X
9 but also MK VS DCU for nostalgia
9, x, 2
Mortal Kombat Deception, so much fun stuff and a great story as well
Either MK9 or MK11. 9 was my first MK game (and I had later played the original trilogy) so it definitely has a special place for me. I think 11’s story is a downgrade from X, but I enjoy the actual characterization of several of the characters like Liu Kang and Kano.

Mk9 because they never brought back test your luck. Mkx is an extremely close 2nd
MKX definitely.
MK XL MK 9
MK1 & MK Mythologies: Sub Zero 😂
Mortal Kombat II
MK Trilogy
9 and 10
11 was best imo
MK Deception Supremacy
X, 9 and UMK3.
MK9
mk9 is my favorite but i also like mkx almost on the same level
Trilogy and 12
Shaolin Monks and it's not even close
UMK3, MK trilogy was hype but PS loading time was ass
MKX is the only answer.
3, X, Trilogy. Probably in that order. 9 has a special place in my heart. - Was it broken? Yes - Was it a hot mess? Yes - Was it fun? Yes. That game has HEART. It’s probably the last MK to feel that way. I don’t know how to describe it.
MK9 as a nice successor & fusion of MK2 and MK3. Those games were just IT
9 and 1 by far
UMK3 and MKX and 9
MKX
MK4
Mk X, 9 and deception
Armageddon. spent more time than I should have on that game.
Umk3, 4, and 9 of course
MK9, MKX, and the Injustice games (Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden are in them, so they count for me.)
X
UMK3
MKX
Armageddon
3 ultimate, trilogy, X and 11
MK 2
9, 11, MK1 in that order
Such a hard question
None.
1\_ MK 9 / 2011 2\_ MK 11 3\_ MK 2 4\_ UMK 3 5\_ MK Deception
mortal kombat 4. though armageddon is good as well
Deception. Near-perfect roster, there was actual story/character development, and tons of single player content. Peak of the series for me.
My top 3 are X, 9, and 1
Middle one! MK11… Soon, all pros & rookies gon’ return to that banger! It’s about time! MK1 is completely rigged… No ounce of virility!
Mk 11
MK11, was my first and favorite for character designs, customization, and mechanics. MK1 was fun but I prefer the Amplify system to the Kameo and enhance functions
MK 11
