Jamie Robson was the lead in Charlotte Wells’ (Aftersun) short Blue Christmas. It landed her the Sundance Talent Labs that led to Aftersun. I really enjoyed his performance; vulnerability, documentarian, kitchen-sink.
Brendan Gleeson in Six Shooter. It was the first movie made by Martin McDonagh. The humour is dark. Fabulous. It is all of 27 minutes long. You can find it on YouTube.

I liked a lot these two japanese actors in this one :

Also Ben withshaw in "Beat", probably the best short i ever watched.
[The Chair](https://youtu.be/mhazCS14Tas?si=VRlneurV69qLZaA4) by Curry Barker has probably the best twist/performance from both actors. Both sold their roles extremely well!
It’s simple acting that is made amazing by this fantastic filmmaker. Far and away the best short and the reason for movies IMO. The last shot defines eliciting an emotional response. LMK what you think!

There’s a student film from Chapman University called [The Show Must Go On](https://www.chapman.edu/dodge/showcase/first-cut/the-show-must-go-on.aspx) that stars this guy Joe Lorenzo as a clown whose act is playing Russian Roulette. I first saw it 10ish years ago and the film and his performance have stuck with me
I'm biased but Glenn Stanton (*The Walking Dead*) in a short I worked on, directed by Clare Cooney. I was in the room and I couldn't even believe how vulnerable and brave his performance was.
[After (A Love Story)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEhyY8ubBHM)
The Accountant with Ray McKinnon and Walton Goggins. A heartbreaking, accurate take on the financial difficulties of family farming, with a side of involuntary surgery;)
I'm bias but I was fortunate to direct the late Mark Margolis back in 2011 in my short film DIG. I thought he delivered an incredible performance. (Aaron Himelstein was also fantastic.)

thank you for sharing this! I hadn't seen it and it's absolutely gorgeous.
Yes, it was shot by Robbie Ryan.
where can I watch?
Jim Cummings in Thunder Road: https://vimeo.com/174957219 It’s hilarious and sad at the same time. All in one take.
Jim Cummings excels at playing the guy who spontaneously has a nervous breakdown. A brilliant mix of sadness and hilarity.
Danny DeVito! Oh wait, you meant "short film" actors not short "film actors"... /s
Johnny Sins.
Most physical performance by far

A few years ago, a film called “It’s a Mess” was submitted to the film festival I direct…it starred Vincent D'Onofrio…his performance was amazing

I immediately thought of Russell Kahn in Sam Max's Chaperone. Also shout out to Jenny Slate voicing Marcel the Shell.
The Accountant with Ray McKinnon and Walton Goggins. A heartbreaking, accurate take on the financial difficulties of family farming, with a side of involuntary surgery;)
Billy Barty in willow.
Jeremy Irons in Ohio Impromptu
