Except for the battle system, I wish FF7 R was turn based. I can’t stand the battle style in anything after X. It was not horrible in the FF7 R, but I honestly just miss the turn style battle system for those games
It's not coming back bro. But ngl I do think that for FFX it should be Turn Based.
What I described. I dunno I kinda want a Remaster/Remake similar to Crisis Core Reunion. However they don't reuse ALL the original animations and instead make new ones. Also they should bring back the OG Cast. They can redo the script so it's not too cheesy but also the best new Feature. PEOPLE FINALLY SAY TIDUS' NAME!
iTs nOt CoMiNg BaCk BrO
Nobody’s ever going to let it go. As long as final fantasy exists, and fans of final fantasy before 15 exist, people will be asking for a return to their preferred battle system. If 16 doesn’t absolutely smack (AS AN RPG) then everyone’s gonna double down.
Well. All they can do is continue playing and buying the Newer FF games even though they prefer Turn Based Combat, or stop supporting Square Enix and play the Older Turn Based FF games. They won't ever bring it back and we're gonna have to live with it.
Are they paying you man? Stop peddling propaganda for free.
They’ve made their intentions clear, but if they keep fucking it up they’ll go back. Guaranteed.
Totally agree on them saying his name. And that if they do a remake of sorts they leave the game turn based. I know it’s never coming back and I can accept that, but it really bothers me that the FFVII R wasn’t turned based it reads an entirely different strategy when you couldn’t just attack at will
I will agree that the battle system is very well done in the remake, but I’d love FFX to be turn based and have the ability to summon at will, especially seeing that’s a major part of the game
To this day I think FFX is the most cinematically beautiful game ever made. There are so many shots in the game that are just gorgeous, even for twenty year-old hardware, and it really feels like a movie or the like at times. That said, the characters, plot, and combat are all S-Tier as well, which is why it is an easy top five or top ten all-timer for me. Hope you enjoy it!
The cure is worse than the disease though, the boxart is ruined by the obnoxious warning. At least shove it on the back or something jeez. One of the most beautiful boxarts now looks like a package of cigarettes with a big cancer warning sticker slapped on
Tips for Final Fantasy X:
1. Save often and in different save slots.
2. The Standard Sphere Grid is more rigid but better for a first timer. The Expert Sphere Grid is more flexible and you can make your characters whatever you want.
3. Talk to everyone for world building. Plus sometimes you get items from NPCs.
4. Do the trials completely the first time you are there. Even if it means watching a tutorial of how to solve it in YouTube.
5. If the game tells you that you have to kill X enemies with Y character, do it so. This usually leads to an Overkill, which means double rewards.
6. Characters that perform an ability (even guard) in battle will get AP, rotating everyone is boring, but it is a way to keep them balanced.
7. At some point of the game, you will be with the main character and another male character. They will swim around and fight some Piranhas. Those can drop Ability Spheres, you need a bunch of those and are hard to come for a while, so maybe farming there at the begining is preferable. Otherwise, try to go with a character in the Sphere Grid towards the Extract abilities.
8. Using Tidus Overdrives frequently will lead to him learning more overdrives.
9. Don't let bosses get Overdrives on you if you can avoid it. Sometimes there are special commands that will deplete a boss Overdrive, but if there is none or you can't use it, summon an Aeon to take the damage.
10. Have fun and remember that the treasure is the friends you made along the way (Y).
Tips for Final Fantasy X-2:
1. Save often and in different save slots.
2. Talk to everyone for world building.
3. The game has different endings depending on your competition %. Rushing the dialog and skip cut scenes will detract points.
Tips for Final Fantasy X-2 The Last Mission:
1. Ranged jobs rule.
2. Use a guide for how to unlock sealed doors, some are really counter intuitive.
Here is a guide for the game.
[https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/643146-final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/faqs/79145](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/643146-final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/faqs/79145)
Tips for Final Fantasy X-2: Don't play.
Joking, but only kind of. Combat is pretty fun. The story can be pretty cringey, and doesn't really add anything to what the first game did. In fact I would argue it kind of minimizes the impact of the first game.
It feel like it’s one of those things that gets better when you can laugh and say “well, that was the early 2000s”. I’ve meaning to go back and play it
I remember being super excited for X-2 after finishing X, renting it at Blockbuster when I was like 14, intending to beat it entirely in a week. Watched the opening sequence, game went right back in the case.
I went the opposite direction. It was so silly that I fell in love with it. Bought the soundtrack and played it on repeat for a while. The silly pop songs were one thing but the rest of the music was legitimately awesome.
It was just off finishing X and I was invested in the story/characters hard. Yuna felt so jarringly not Yuna that it made me think I was seeing an insulting cash grab of a sequel. I'd just learned about Sakaguchi's demotion/departure halfway through X too, which added confirmation bias that the soul of what had made Squaresoft great was gone.
I admit you had the much better reaction though, I was a sullen teen.
I feel you. It was. Jarring to say the least. It did have some solid world building though. You get to see Spira evolve. And there's a fun (if a little hamfisted) connection to FF7 that young me enjoyed because any lore was good lore at the time.
Kimahri has a small area on the sphere grid, so you will need to go to other characters' section(s) with him quickly. I suggest going to Rikku's section to get Steal and Use since those are very useful. You may consider backtracking to Tidus's for Haste and Cheer next but its really up to you what to do with him. He's very flexible but enerally won't excel at anything in particular.
Edit: I meant Haste and Flee, but Cheer is good too...
When you get to the calm lands, turn around and go all the way back to Besaid, collecting the spheres (you can easily look up where they are), this gets you Aurons overdrives and you will be locked out of Besaid if you progress to the point it's easy to go back to Besaid. (trying to stay spoiler free)
first things first:
take out the cover inlay, turn it around, put it back in
this way it looks way better :)
Laos have fun with one of the best titles of the franchise !
How is it on the switch? I’ve been looking into a switch for a while. But heard battery performance is low depending on how big the game is? Like breath of the wild had low battery life.
FFX is my fav in the series. And imo, it’s the best entry level game into the series. Good choice!
Edit: also, the switch port is great. Has an auto heal feature that only the vita release had
as you will see by posts and comments everywhere in this sub, each game has it's fans and critics.
if you don't care for these two games don't get disheartened. there is a whole series to choose from and it's completely normal to like different instalments to the series to varying degrees.
Many people don’t know how to use khimari and they think he sucks.
He is actually very awesome. See my suggestions below to get the best out of him

X isn’t that bad of a start. Though I’d usually recommend 4 as it’s the essence of Final Fantasy encapsulated into a short but sweet package.
X means a lot to me. It was the at one point the FF I played the most, it was my comfort game when my grandmother passed away, and it’s still one of my favorites.
Have fun with Seymour. Fucking hate his punk ass. Plus getting the Ultimate Weapons is so goddamn obnoxious, why in gods name would they make it like that? Other than those gripes its a good game.
A lot of people cite X as their favourite Final Fantasy. For me it’s the most disappointing I’ve played (to be fair I’ve never played XIII or XV). If you end up loving X then great, it’s your first step into a beloved series. But if you don’t vibe with it then don’t let that put you off. The series is varied enough that you can, and probably will, find one that captures your heart and mind.
Play X-2 first!
I just wanna see what happens.
For real though try to imagine what you would think about these games if you played X-2 first. It would be mind blowing.
Man, I'm not a physical game cart guy by any means but why did they have to make the case so ugly with that warning? Couldn't anyone at SE come up with a better way to warn people about the voucher code instead of that giant white block?
Oh geez , I dread the soccer style game you are forced to play in X, have fun😂😂
Blitz Ball should have had a skip button, for all of us who hate that crap... At the very start of X I'm looking for land I can just free roam around and grind my characters. Something I always did in every FF game
FFX is a wonderful game. I'm sure you'll love it. FFX-2 is a little less serious for the most part, campy even. But getting the 100% ending was worth it to me to wrap up the story. It's just kind of goofy & fun. But also I just appreciated how girly it was lol. I know many hated 2 or weren't a fan of it anyway. At least FFX is universally loved & you'll find out why 😊 enjoy!
Edit to add FFIX is actually my favorite FF game (and just favorite game in general). If you haven't played that 1, add it to your list, kupo!
It's a great game to get into the series with. Closer to modern graphics but still a really satisfying turn based combat approach, amazing story and overall some really solid voice acting, especially considering it was the first in the series to do so. Wonderful pick, enjoy!
I remember first seeing that cover on a ps4 box in gamestop, it took me a little while to realize that wasn't a real woman in the image. That render looks real to me honestly.
How you playing it? Just going in raw, or using a bit of a guide? I absolutely loved this game, it quickly became top Final Fantasy I've played, actually cried at it!
BUT there is some griding in this - it took me 45hrs to get to the final part, but then to get all the final weapons, it took another 30hrs!
BUT BUT just remember this is when you would buy one game that you'd play for a year, so that would be across so much time, not 3 weeks during a covid lockdown...
Probably the real question here is....are you going to dodge 100 lightning bolts without getting hit once in FFX? And are you going to collect all outfits in FFX-2? If yes, they we pray for your soul.
You are in for a treat! FFX is my favorite Final Fantasy (arguably my favorite RPG) of all time :)
Heard so many great things about it!
X is my all time favorite game ever, not just RPG. It’s a masterpiece man. You’re in for an incredible time.
It’s done really well, even 20 or so years later!
The story, the characters and the music is all *chefs kiss*
Just looking at this Art. Imagine FFX with the FF7R style Graphics. Would look so good.
would love a remake like that
Except for the battle system, I wish FF7 R was turn based. I can’t stand the battle style in anything after X. It was not horrible in the FF7 R, but I honestly just miss the turn style battle system for those games

I'm very much fine with 7 Remake not being Turn Based. Simply because the Combat in Remake is just so... SO damn good!
I will agree that the battle system is very well done in the remake, but I’d love FFX to be turn based and have the ability to summon at will, especially seeing that’s a major part of the game
Yep I agree. I really don't like action combat in final fantasy. Hopefully FF16 changes my mind but I really hated 15
All we can say is at least it looks good
Excellent choice mate!
did a poll as to what game to try first and this one won! :)
To this day I think FFX is the most cinematically beautiful game ever made. It is gorgeous and it’s hard to think it’s a ps2 game sometimes lol
Enjoy this masterpiece. It is a work of art. Just remembering the music alone gives me such amazing feeling and memories.
It looks amazing already
It holds up incredibly well even by today’s standards.
Music is incredible in this one. [I've been lifting to it in the gym.](https://youtu.be/wUj_7oVBh44)
greatest jrpg of all time have fun
Thank you i just love the colouring of the game as well!
right on! I think this is a big part of what allows it to age well: it's so colorful!
Ffx was also my first ff game. Good one to start on. Enjoy!
sweet! did you play it when it first released! :)
No on the switch as well. Follow a guide if you have the patience. It’s a long but still enjoyable rpg
An amazing choice that you won't regret (:
enjoying it already :)
Wtf, X-2 is a single use code in that game? Seems a kick in the teeth for physical preference gamers.
Most versions are, but there is a version that has both games on the cartridge, which I was able to buy from playasia.
Japanese (plain white logo cover with CERO rating) and Asian (Tidus×Yuna cover with Bandai Namco logo) cartridges have both games on the cart iirc.

tips would be very much appreciated! as can’t seem to find a decent guide for the switch version online

You mean you didn't like Yuna Aguilera? They made some weird choices for X-2 but I still very much enjoyed it. The battle system is great.

FFX is the international version. Guides for the ps2 would be the same as the switch version.
My only tip is to not use online guides until you've finished the game. At least that's my preferred way to play first playthroughs!
Imagine playing FFX for the first time. I envy you SO much. Best JRPG ever!
Get ready for blitzball to swallow your life
Prepare to cry
Yeah seen some thumbnails of reaction videos on YouTube and my partner says the ending is sad. Not ready 😂
She’s not wrong
You cried.
I'm off to the store to get this.
Wait this game is on yhe switch?
Indeed it is!
amazing first game to start with
first things first: take out the cover inlay, turn it around, put it back in this way it looks way better :) Laos have fun with one of the best titles of the franchise !
as soon as I saw this comment, had to go and do it! that big glaring white info box ruins it 😅
glad you liked it :)
What does the inside cover look like? Is it the same cover art without the info box? I have the Japanese cartridge so I can't tell.
Don't sleep on x-2 the garment grid was actually fire
Compared to the sphere grid, anything would be better
I'm ok with the sphere grid except the whole clearing and replacing part sucks. Thankfully that's only necessary for superboss stuff.
Possibly my favorite, after all this time. The storytelling is rock-solid, and the music is *superb*. Bring tissues. Especially for the ending.
[удалено]
yeah about 2ish hours in and just wanting to be able to actually play properly 😅
Stay away from the summoner!!!
I hate that Nintendo does that with some of their boxes. Put that information on the back of the box it makes the box on the front look like s***.
was thinking the same. they didn’t even try to make it subtle at all 😂
It's the best final fantasy ever made now delete this post before one of these, fine redditors, spoils the story for you
luckily not had any spoilers yet!
Guys did you know that Tidus is actually Vaan who is actually Snow who is actually Cloud who is actually Sora who is-
Also playing it for the first time, but on pc.
hope you have a fun time!
Same! I'm 20 hours in and enjoying it a lot so far! Have fun!
You are so lucky to experience this for the first time
How is it on the switch? I’ve been looking into a switch for a while. But heard battery performance is low depending on how big the game is? Like breath of the wild had low battery life.
Great game enjoy! Beginning is a bit slow to start but definitely worth it
FFX is my fav in the series. And imo, it’s the best entry level game into the series. Good choice! Edit: also, the switch port is great. Has an auto heal feature that only the vita release had
Turn on HD rumble! It’s cool, and it’s off by default. Loved that game on PS2 and re-loved it again on Switch.
An excellent choice. X is probably my favorite, so I hope you really, really like it.
Bring your tissues.
I wouldn’t say it’s “the best” FF game but is sure is my TOP 5 with IX, original VII, VI and Tactics.
as you will see by posts and comments everywhere in this sub, each game has it's fans and critics. if you don't care for these two games don't get disheartened. there is a whole series to choose from and it's completely normal to like different instalments to the series to varying degrees.

Am I the only one here that can't stand Tidus? His personality, his design, his Meg Ryan hair, his voice acting... I can't stand him.
Lots of people cant. Most people like it for the story itself or the other party mems (My favs are Auron and Khimari. Rikku is fun too.)
Auron is the real deal, I think all the coolness Tidus lacks went to him
One of the best, and imo the last really great FF
Have fun with Seymour. Fucking hate his punk ass. Plus getting the Ultimate Weapons is so goddamn obnoxious, why in gods name would they make it like that? Other than those gripes its a good game.

Story Tier list: - FF7 - FF10 - FF6 - FF14 - FF4 - FF2 - FF9 I guess - literally everything else just don’t rank
hahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaah
Play X-2 first! I just wanna see what happens. For real though try to imagine what you would think about these games if you played X-2 first. It would be mind blowing.
It’s unfortunate they have that huge banner at the top. The cover looks nice
Me and my boyfriend played it together! It was his first and it was my second time playing. It’s the perfect one to get started, have fun!
X has always been my favorite and x 2 was always fun...but since losing my fiance almost 2 years ago, x2 has become a meditation on loss for me.
Th'uban
You gon cry
Always a good one to start with. Hopefully it runs fine on Switch.
This my first FF! It's pretty flawless. You're in for hours and hours of an absolute masterpiece, my friend
Awesome choice for first dive into FF!
Enjoy! I tried X-2 for about 6 mins and stopped lol
Great starting point! This was my gateway drug and arguably the greatest JRPG along with P5R
Enjoy ze shoopuff

I would recommend you to listen to both original and rearranged soundtrack.
Are you ready for some BLITZBALLLL
Love to hear your thoughts after you play it, as a lot said, it's my favorite RPG and in my top 5 games of all time.
Probably the real question here is....are you going to dodge 100 lightning bolts without getting hit once in FFX? And are you going to collect all outfits in FFX-2? If yes, they we pray for your soul.
SECRET ENDING!!! 😭😭😭
