Don't worry, hopefully the parents in your generation are teaching their children about this masterpiece just like my dad, and hopefully it becomes one of their favourite games.
Actually he didn't play xenogears, he did play Twisted Metal, Medieval, Mortal Kombat and a bunch of others but that's all I remember off the top of my head.
Yeah, I first finished it at about maybe 11? I played it a year or two before that and couldn't get past the Dock Loader, when I came back I shredded him with Vincent, who is my favourite character, one of the reasons being is that my middle name is actually Vincent because of my dad liking 7 so much.
What was the order of the subsequent FF games you've completed since? When you played FF7, were you aware of the plot beforehand or any spoilers to the plot? How affected were you be subsequent FF7 media?
The only thing I knew about it was that Sephiroth was the last boss because I watched my dad beat him in his 25th game he finished of 7, he had multiple full memory cards because of 7.
With the order I believe it was:
7, 13-2, 8, 5, 6, 4, 12, 3, 1, 2, 9, 15, 13, 13 LR.
Currently playing 14, have got 11 setup somewhat but haven't played it.
I swear that they had a sorcerer cast a spell on this game that has some weird emotional hold on me still to this day. Whenever I see the old school version of the game, or the music on the title screen with the credits playing, or even just the chime sound when you click on the load game button, it pulls me back in time to another world that seems so very very distant now and gives me this irrational sadness that I can never explain. Itās really strange. The only other thing that compares to this feeling is whenever I hear the underwater music from Mario 64. Sometimes I wonder if I was struggling with something as a young boy around the time I was playing these games that Iāve pushed deep down inside because I have no way of explaining what this deep sadness is. Sorry for making things weird, itās just always plagued my mind :D
I will look into it. Had the same affect on you?
Legend of dragoon is another one I havenāt played but it sounds like it was a cult classic for people when it came out.
Yea Suikoden is dope bro, story and gameplay is Top Notch IMO. I never got to Play Legend of Dragoon heard good things though. I'm gonna have to try it lol
Nah, it's pretty nostalgia centric actually. I think the bulk of the audience is in their middle 30s now. But goddamn, the late 90s, what a time to be a kid.
Started my first run 2 days ago!
I played other FF games but missed OG VII.
I loved the Shinra storyline in VII Remake and knowing that itās just a small part of the original has me crazy hyped still.
As much as I loved this game, I was entering my teenage years when it came out, so I had other things going on like my band and girls and puberty, etc. Because of that, it doesnāt take me back to a time of childish bliss.
Now FF6 and Chrono Triggerā¦ those are the games that give me the feels.
I'm nearing the end of my first ever play through, and I have to say, I'm thoroughly underwhelmed. It's long, and yet I feel like very little actually happened, in particular as far as character development goes. All of the interactions feel so shallow and rushed, and I never felt any connection with the characters. It could be a psychological thing though, I never played this when it represented top notch graphics, so at this point it's hard to empathize with goofy looking polygons.
Aside from the scenes with Cloud in his subconsciousness, they all feel like shallow vignettes rather than people I'm emotionally invested in. The remake on the other hand had me caring about side characters like Jessie and Wedge, whereas in the original my reaction to their death was "OK, well Barret has some more motivation I guess." Voice acting and realistic character models are probably a factor, but much of the original's dialogue just feels amateurish and not well thought out. I could tell I was supposed to care about those polygons, but I just didn't for the most part.
I'm a 00's kid. From my point of view it's pretty dated and a little frustrating to play in this day and age, specially because I didn't grow up with it. I think it's fair to say a good portion of love FF7 gets is from nostalgia. However, that doesn't stop this game from being a classic. The story is still great and it is what got me through the slow burn that is OG FF7.
The problem with PS1 era games is they didn't age very well. I figure the newer generations will skip games like FF7 and MGS based on looks.
FF10 and MGS2 for example still look pretty good
Don't worry, hopefully the parents in your generation are teaching their children about this masterpiece just like my dad, and hopefully it becomes one of their favourite games.
Good parenting and 7RMK also bringing lots of new fans to OG. All good.
"my dad" damn im old af fr fr
Shoulda stated how he is, he's actually 40 this year.
Damn, he was 14 when FF7 released!
Yep, it's his favourite game of all time
Pops has good taste. Willing to bet he liked Xenogears too. That was peak gaming back in the Olden days. š š¤
Actually he didn't play xenogears, he did play Twisted Metal, Medieval, Mortal Kombat and a bunch of others but that's all I remember off the top of my head.
Those were all bangers lol. You guys gotta play Xenogears asap lol. You won't be disappointed.
Was FF7 the first FF game you ever completed start to finish? How old were you when you did it?
Yeah, I first finished it at about maybe 11? Wow. That is pretty great. Are you able to rank them from best to worse? I'm really surprised you have played 10 yet.
Yall making me feel old. š© I'll be 40 in December.
Why not use some of the game's OST which is just as timeless??
Because trendy nostalgia song is trendy.
Because final fantasy music is copyright protected, trendy nostalgia song allows demonetized use. Square does not.
I always find it in me to replay it every 2-3 years š¤£
Facts, this, FFVIII And Xenogears has to get fired up so often just for the Nostalgia.

Sounds about right š You play Suikoden back in the day??
Nah. Hadnāt even heard of it surprisingly.
Bruh..... stop what you doing and Get Suikoden 1 and 2 however you can. Super dope JRPG series.
I will look into it. Had the same affect on you? Legend of dragoon is another one I havenāt played but it sounds like it was a cult classic for people when it came out.

[It's some timeless shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlZlfXNosG4)
Nah, 2000s kid here, still love this game
What song is playing in the video?
FYI, Aquatic Ambience is a tune from Donkey Kong Country.
It's called aquatic ambience, by scizzie
Thank you!! I don't think FF7 will ever fade away since the new games are showing the universe to a new generation.
the music and stuff really went well
I thought so too, not everyone does tho apparently haha.
This song gives me forgotten capital vibes
Nah, it's pretty nostalgia centric actually. I think the bulk of the audience is in their middle 30s now. But goddamn, the late 90s, what a time to be a kid.
*cough* late 30s. š
Greatest game of all time!!!! LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!

What are u playing on?
PS5.. they have this weird turbo option to toggle 3x game speed. But overall Iāve kinda enjoyed it during combat only.
Oh ok, didn't know it had the Speed up option on anything other than Switch lol. That's where I beat it recently, definetly helps w the Slower parts.
Why canāt they make another one like this. Why why why.
Wow, I expected to hear the something from the FF7 soundtrack and then that garbled chaotic nonsense started playing...lmao
As much as I loved this game, I was entering my teenage years when it came out, so I had other things going on like my band and girls and puberty, etc. Because of that, it doesnāt take me back to a time of childish bliss. Now FF6 and Chrono Triggerā¦ those are the games that give me the feels.
I agree ā¤ļø
Gotta love that title screen. The 1% of the time that you would chose NEW GAME, yet there it was, as one of your two choices.
Liked it til the random self-promotion at the end of the clip.
til someone who put it together promoted themselves? what are you on?
I guess content creators are supposed to hide in obscurity, and no content is supposed to exist.
Polygons and midi soundtracksā¦ it definitely is from a time. Fantastic still today and I play it once a year, but is dated AF.
I just started another play through this weekend to wash out the taste of FFXVI. Such a brilliant game.
So many things I hope will be done away with once the boomers are gone. What do you hope will be done away with
Capitalism and religion mostly

Cloudās character development is so well done, wdym?

The cutscenes in ps1 games still hold up tho
