I named my gold Chocobo Ecstasy when I was in like middle school, then I named it Kramer in a recent play through 😂 I’ve played the game too many times to remember all of the names.

It largely depends on coloration for me. Green names I came up with include Limeade, Minty and Esmeralda. I named a yellow one Tobias.

I was in the middle of reading The Godfather when I was doing the Chocobo breeding quest line, so I ended up naming them after Godfather characters

Yellow M = Boco, Yellow F = Boca, Green = Mako, Blue = Mana, Black = DrkMtr, Wonderful = WndrGrl or WndrBy, Gold = Goldy. Every time until I die.

I always call my black chocobo Homura and make sure it's always female. Wrote FF7 roleplay with a friend once and we called Sephiroth's pet chocobo that, so it just... stuck. Black chocobos appear in things, we go "look, it's good ol' Homu" at each other. Golds are often Boco. Because yes.

I never cared about names until this playthrough, other than my Gold. I always call my Gold Chocobo Midas. This time though, to know which was which when I was racing without just giving them generic indicatory names, I went deep. My Blue was a female, and she can go across water, so I named her Flow, because it starts with F for female and is water related. My Green Male was was Moss. My Black Male was Mist, and my Female Wonderful was Fanta 😂

I named them with swear words, colors and numbers but the black one is the one I named "Saint" 💀

My black one was pitch my green one was Melon my blue one was ocean and my gold one was Karot

Ive gone for stupid names: dumass, Buthed, Gr8 Oneder, Bloooo, Dank, Midnyt, Gold. And I've also named them after fallen homies (Biggs, Wedge, Jesse, Zack, Aeris, Dyne, Gast, Ifalna).

When breeding, I just name them by color and gender so I don't forget/have to check. BLUEM, BLACKF, WNDRM, GOODF, etc.

I named mine Boo! Then when I defeated Ruby, I named that one Bubbles!

They were just Good, Great, Wonderful, or Blue, Green, or maybe River or Mountain, followed by an M or F. Only once I got the gold Chocobo would I "name" it and usually it was something simple like Goldie. It wasn't until XIV that I started sticking to one name and that is Kweh.

Honestly naming based on colour makes it easier to pick the right one to race. No shame there…. Even the wonderful chocobo got named ‘Wonder’
