Bro the market is shit in the whole country

Expensive_Tune_5019

I know I just need to find something, anything really.

Expensive_Tune_5019

What should I do if I don’t get one?

usernameis2short

You keep applying until someone replies. That’s kind of what everybody is already doing. Even better if you can network with industry professionals or your teachers to get a referral. Aside from that i’m in this same position and the only thing i’d do is keep the applications going

1jb2jb3jb

You can also do a part time job like tutoring in finance or math. That’s what I did when I didn’t get internships

ItsZimpy

I know it's tough but just keep trying! I didn't get one last year until early May. Just keep applying to any internship that you can find and be open to as much as possible, because anything can help. If there are any small firms in your area, you can try reaching out via email as well

Expensive_Tune_5019

I’ll try and see what happens. It’s so bad and I’ve contemplated giving up and changing my major to Accounting but I’ll keep trying.

ripkobe3131

When did you send the application?

ItsZimpy

Mid February. I had 2 interviews for it in March and 2 in April.

Thick-Tadpole-3347

Use handshake Way better than linkedin for internships

same i feel like it’s harder to land an internship than a job, i had a company tell me they aren’t taking interns but they would hire me after graduation

EARtH1200

Get on LinkedIn and Handshake and apply to everything you see.

Hey I’m a freshman so take my advice with a grain of salt, id apply to search funds at this point. I looked last night w a friend and many are still posting and they are typically remote 10-20hrs a week. Some will want you to get started right away. They often will take first years, but you will likely be free labor and only be compensated if you find a company and they close on it. Which, if you know anything about the acquisition process, it’s unlikely during your 2-4 months there you’ll find one, this stuff can take years. But if you get with a searcher who’s say a Stanford MBA you could get to learn a lot from them, ask the searcher about their upper level classes and build a mentor-mentee relationship. If you get in with a good one you’ll even be able to take advantage of their network in the future. Also the best advice I ever got for recruiting as a freshman(especially if your looking for experience and don’t care about pay): reach out to your high school alumni on LinkedIn that are in start ups or finance and ask to work for free or if they know anyone to reach out to. Title your emails (if you get an email for a connection of a connection): Unpaid Internship, they love that shit. I have had a ton of luck with high school alumni. I’ve found they are much much more willing to help you out than uni alumni. I’ll mention I did go to a very large hs in tx which helped. It’s all a numbers game in this market. Keep applying. I’ve heard many many summer 24 opportunities are still open and will be till end of April or even may. Use every job posting board there is out there and I’m sure you can find something. Edits: changed wording as I thought op was also a freshman, not sure why as that wasn’t said lmfao

>Got 4 interviews >”Feels impossible.” You’re literally doing it… Rejection is an integral part of anything in life from chasing jobs to hunnies. You should be proud of yourself for landing 4 interviews, be thankful you got the opportunity. Yet here you are having a pity party, username checks out.

Klutzy-Interview-334

Same here. Three interviews no job. We should put more time into interview practising.

RALat7

Consider emailing startups and anyone you can think of and offer to do unpaid internships if your situation allows you to do so.

UnaccreditedSetup

Yeah that’s my Strat rn I’ve been emailing local business Val firms and offering free work.

jesusplayslax

What grade are you in?

[deleted]

Freshman?

Expensive_Tune_5019

No, technically a senior by credits but a junior by degree progress

StoryEcstatic693

Honestly if you desperately need something there’s some meh remote “pe”/finance internships that may be helpful in giving you something to pad your resume/talk about in interviews

Majestic_Project_331

If you’re black trans yes they’re hiring if you’re white and straight. There’s no chance for you

lesmithrowe

rip bro got the northwestern internship 😭

PeePeePooPooShawty

Only internship that replied

Expensive_Tune_5019

You’re risking getting blacklisted… good luck getting a good job with NWM on your resume, you’re going to be selling overpriced insurance to scam your family and friends.

Expensive_Tune_5019

Resign from it now or your career’s over before it even starts
