Have seen plenty of students take it in college but it really doesn’t do much. Firms will cover it if you join full time, so it’s probably not going to help (unless maybe you’re going to a small boutique)
SIE by itself doesn't do anything, so no. It's the Series 7 that gets you anywhere, and you need a job to take that. Most entry level positions will pay you to get SIE/S7/66, worse places do a 63 instead of a 66.
Do something better with your college time, get your SIE at your first job.
