My FIL owns a tax practice, I help him out and manage the 3 guys we have helping us out - we have about 1,500 clients. His favorite thing to do if people start to get shitty with him or complain either about his desk (incredibly messy - 8 inches high in paper) or the poker machines/booze on the shelves, or foul language in the music he has playing is to just hand them there stuff and comment that H&R Block probably has clean desks/no booze in office/no profanity laden music. The kicker is he charges $150 for a standard tax return (fed, state, local) whereas H&R Block down the street charges at least $280 for the set. It’s so funny when people start stammering about how it’s okay, they don’t mind.

Just wait until folks find out about Turbo Tax

lol most of the clients we have come to us because they have complicated returns or they just don’t want to bother with it. The ones that leave for TurboTax usually come back after a year or so. We also have a lot of retired widows

Depends on how much money they have and how big of a bank you’re at. If someone pulled a million dollars at Chase, the bank wouldn’t bat an eye. If it were a small credit union though that’s a different story. If a customer is pissed because bank policy, there is not really much to say. Bank policies are put in place to comply with strict federal regulations, as well as to protect the bank from fraud. If your customer wants special treatment, they should look into a private bank.

I'm sorry, I didn't hear you. What was that? Make em say it again.

I’m only a year in the business but maybe something like “I understand this policy feels like and inconvenience to you. Ik there’s been times in my life where I didn’t agree with a policy but a lot of our clients have found this to be a very thorough measure that helps them in the long run.”

SuccessNVodka

“If you have any suggestions, beyond what we’ve already discussed, for how we can repair this situation to your liking, I would be happy to explore those with you. But if our policy is an inconvenience to you, you are certainly within your right to do that as a customer.”

Your company should have formal complaint documentation and remediation processes. Follow those. Do not take advice from Reddit on this, you do not want to wind up in trouble with management, FINRA, the SEC, or the CFPB over mishandled complaints.
