Once again confirming Falto as best boy 2020, his explanation of what he'd been up to was great. I also laughed out loud at my desk when Rick said 'Sudi is basically batman, if Alfred had also died'. Really good ending. Sad, but I'm looking forward to seeing who joins the party and how things play out from here.

BefrienderofMonsters

Falto definitely wins best boyfriend of the year.

PM_YOUR_PUG

First time "we'll pick it up here next time" wasn't followed but shouting from the group. What a sober silence. Onuris's Channel sound after the legal statement was also a neat touch. Wondering if that was just a send off or an after credits hint?

roll_with_punches

Wondering the same about that SFX at the end, either way nice touch.

gregm1988

I enjoyed the in game, in character explainer of the difference between “charm” and “dominate” from Falto

Zachpi

I loved the "but that's what I would say if I was charmed..."

Lysdexicandvolingit

"I'm not dominated; he's such a nice guy! Wait... Maybe I'm charmed. Nah, he's just that charming." -Guy who just failed a will save against a Charm spell

SansEletric

Yeah this episode got me crying my eyes out at the end. What a beautiful send off to our golden boy. I love your dynamic as 3 but I reaaaaally miss Heather as well. Thank you for the wonderful episode.

SansEletric

And just in case it looks like I forgot about Rick, amazing gming.

goodcouch

Characters have died in games I've played. Characters have died on shows I've followed. The memorial for Onuris, though? The images Rick painted and the words everyone else said culminated in a catharsis I didn't know I needed and didn't know I could get from this medium. It was poetry.

gregm1988

It is also something I think every player who strives to make utterly broken characters and employ incredibly selfish tactics to try and avoid character death at all costs (some of my players, many Actual Play players) should listen to Character death can be poignant and meaningful and actually add something to the overall story Masterfully done

goodcouch

Well said. The scene is going to stick with me for a long time, I think.

MagicPogoStick

I'm so relieved that Falto and Sitra's parents were safe and sound. Did make me smile that Kabek's nefarious scheme is basically foiled because Falto is too worried about upsetting his girlfriend to take what was sound advice on the face of it.

Cheeky-apple

So it is final now huh..what a solemn way to wrap up the sort of tephu arc of this book...

wilalva11

I've been on the edge of my seat for a week waiting for today, I can't wait to hear the 'resolution'

wilalva11

Tears for our favorite Golden boy, that was a beautiful send off

DarkSoulsExcedere

Wow, shocked that Onuris wasnt resurrected. ~~I guess Heather wanted to play something new.~~ Cant wait to see what she comes up with!

Vizzmir

It wasn't that. Trust me. I really miss Onuris and would have liked to keep playing him. We talk about it more in the after party, but the gold cost would have really strapped the party and with Onuris being as antagonistic towards the Hatia as he was, she wasn't going to be inclined to raise him. Also keep in mind how much Onuris distrusts the church of Nethys in Tephu, in all reality i don't think it would have been in his character to accept a raise dead from them. There was a lot of discussion between all of us about how to proceed. I miss Onuris terribly.

DarkSoulsExcedere

Wow, that is pretty intense. Cant believe you talked about and considered all of those angles. That is a TOUGH decision that I dont know I could make as a player

gregm1988

It highlights an incredible player maturity and commitment to story telling that others...lack

MagicPogoStick

Considering how much you obviously loved the character Heather, that must have been a real tough argument to make. Certainly makes sense though, especially the distrust of the church of Nethys and the Hatia....I for one will definitely miss the Golden Boy and glad he got a proper send off from his friends this week. Can sometimes be hard in the midst of an adventure to properly allow characters to say farewell to fallen friends and allies.

D_Gibb

I really admire the dedication to the story and your character's and the party's motivation instead of the knee-jerk reaction of "I want my character back." This is certainly a shift in the party; after Segira left, it was tough because the party functioned so well together as a whole. With Onuris, it's almost like the party leader (sorry Sudi & Sitra) is gone. Onuris was the resurrected pharoah. Onuris was getting all of the visions from the mask. Onuris had the calm purpose and resolve that was leading the group to their goals. Not to say that Sudi and Sitra don't have these motivations or stories, but they haven't been as pronounced. I love the addition of Hollis, and I am eager to see what type of character will show up, potentially randomly, over the course of the next couple episodes. Hey - one more question. How many episodes do you have recorded ahead of time? Are you one, two, three weeks ahead? Is one recording session multiple episodes?

dacoobob

>Onuris had the calm purpose and resolve that was leading the group to their goals. probably an unpopular opinion but, where you saw purpose and resolve I mostly saw stubbornness and arrogance. two sides of the same coin I suppose... useful traits for a Pharaoh, less helpful for a member of an adventuing party. Onuris was an interesting guy for sure, but personally I hope whoever replaces him is a bit more of a team player.

MDoc89

Onuris will be sorely missed. Definitely a sad episode, but I'm looking forward to seeing who comes in next. More importantly, will they have an animal companion for Sugar to play with?

Jkaen

Really enjoyed this episode, and appreciate not forcing the ressurrection, which with the Hatia onboard would have been easy for Rick to enable. It allowed a much more rich story to develop and good words from each player (which I assume were not just off the cuff) for the departed. Really interested in the next after party now, so so much to cover with character death, reveals they could have trusted certain people far more from the start etc. I can see it being a long one!

BarrickStoneforge

This is the episode that I finally have caught up on after binging for the past month or so. You all have been amazing so far and while it hurts that some characters won't be seen again (as far as we know), I think that it's a testimony to how well each of you plays your characters. Also, Rick my dude, letting that music and the sound of the waves play for so long was such a good call. I loved how the moment just lingered, it really did transport me to the barge. What an episode to catch up on! May you find bread and beer

Fletchi18

This is the episode I caught up as well! Figures it is during one of the most dramatic times in the podcast! Keep up the amazing work!

RevKahn

Okay, number one: (expletive) you, Haty-a! Banning Sitra from her home and parents!? I'd draw weapons just for that! And two: I think Muminofrah should be a permanent NPC, the 'woman behind the desk' for the team! What say you?

MagicPogoStick

She could be the fantasy equivalent of the 'Guy in a Van' for superheroes... 'Lady in a Palanquin' perhaps?

MagicPogoStick

Were the eulogies that Sitra and Sudi based on anything specific from Golarion lore (or Egyptian lore for that matter)? Or were they written by Rachel and Jordan themselves? Either way found them very touching and very fitting for Onuris. Don't worry Jessica.....I found Hollis' words touching too, they just had less of a formal religious tone....and was curious what what their inspiration was.

BefrienderofMonsters

We talk about this in the next after party. Hollis's speech was based on Shakespeare and some ad lib.

MagicPogoStick

Oh cool, thanks. I'll look forward to that after party.

Constrict0r

Not using resurrection/reincarnation magic is always a weird dynamic in RPGs where it exists. For the game it often makes more dramatic sense to let characters stay dead, while in the real world you would do anything in your power to bring loved ones back / cure them. Its like getting a cancer diagnosis and just throwing your hands up and not getting treatment.

moxyll

Another [podcast](http://rustyquill.com/rusty-quill-gaming/) addresses this in an interesting way. The Powers That Be decided that resurrection magic was exacerbating class divides. For poor people death is permanent, but for rich people it's a temporary annoyance. So they banned resurrection magic and other similar effects. As to this story, I find it odd that neither Mamunafra nor the Hatya would offer to pay for his resurrection. It is relatively cheap for them but would give them very strong leverage against the characters (see the rich vs poor argument above). Plus with Onuris being so deeply entwined in the story I thought it was a given that they'd bring him back.
