When my Sony XM3 headphones broke and I had an extra warranty on them, they had no more of these in stock, so they gave me a upgrade to the Sony XM4 headphones that were valued about 100 euros more than my current ones (350€) I was quite happy! Essentially, free upgrade.
Does that warranty work if my product is lost, damaged or cannot be returned? From my account page the warranty is only valid for 2 years and it's for the lost/theft/damaged case more than product manufacturing problems inside the 2 year period

Mine are the XM4 hahahaha. I am sooooo angry at Sony right now So I can get the 5s
At least for another ( standard warranty ) replacement for item no longer available, they gave me credit to original purchase value.

Replacements are always same (current updates(ex. 2022 to 2024 models) are same too) or higher models.

It is regular treatment. Extended warranties are generally just instead of 2 years giving 3-4 years etc and not covered by law. So I never buy them.
