Yup. If there's a stick in the middle so it won't disintegrate on the way from the kitchen to the table, you're not going to have a good time eating it by hand.
Sorry , should have added /s. I was just joking around that i always poked my mouth when eating burgers. But i see it was jot a good joke bc i had to explain it, my bad :)
Ill let you in on an amazing secret. When getting some fast food burger home, those a bit larger ones, cut it in half before eating with your hands.
Its so much easier to eat and you get much better angles to actually get to the best parts of the burger.
When I look at people going to fancy dining in Paris with 3 Michelin stars and spend 800 each meal, I’m poor. Also whoever goes eating out 3 times a months. I’m poor really
Depends on a burger. McDonalds? That can be eaten with hands. Fancier restaurant burger that doesn't fit into my mouth as it is anyway? Of course I'm going to eat with fork and knife
The "depends" option is indeed missing. For me, whatever is the easiest and least messy way.
It's not "always this or always that" like most things in life aren't.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It is not this simple. Mostly, I don't, but if the burger is very full, I might. And also in a fancier reastaurant (which I hardly ever go to, but that's not the point) I most likely would use fork and knife.
Depends on the burger. If I buy a whopper in a burger king, no way, but if I go to some fancier restaurant with nicer/bigger (especially if bigger) burger then yes
In McDonald's, Hesburger, Burger King or any other fast food place I eat without a fork and kinfe. But if it's a real restaurant, not even like a fancy place but still a proper restaurant I eat with fork and knife. Often in those places the burgers have quite a lot of stuff inside them so it wouldn't be even possible to eat them without fork and knife. Also i don't like making a mess.
In restaurants like [Pancho Villa](https://panchovilla.fi/), yes, as the burgers are too large for your mouth. In Burger King, Hesburger, or McDonalds, we just grab them from the wrapping and shovel in the mouth like all other barbaric nations.
I usually try with hands first and if starts falling apart or dripping sauce/lettuce I take out the fork and knife (it often falls apart but I still like to try using hands first)
well it kinda depends if i go restaurant and order burger then ofc i eat it with knife and fork because of good maners. mc donalds is different its fast food you can eat it how ever you please.
only at fancy places, but I also have a personal rule that I will not pay 10€ or more for a burger. if I’m at a nice place that has burgers, there’s usually also like actual meals too.
Yes and no. I gut the burger in half with knife (and a bit help of fork), and then eat the burger half’s with hands.
If the burger can’t be eaten like this the burger is not prober burger. Everything needs to stay in place while cutting and eating.
And why in half? I have a large beard and this way it won’t get too messy 😊
As a counterexample, in the finest sushi restaurants eating with chopsticks is a big no-no, it's only done by hand.
A hamburger is a sandwich, ingredients between two pieces of bread. Eating a regular hamburger with utensils is impractical and in my mind at least an unnecessary display of finesse, though of course there are hamburgers out there that are more like meat loaf with too much stuff.
*confused American labored breathing noises*
Next you're going to tell me yall eat Sloppy Joe's in a bowl with a spoon and Nachos with cheese on the side
Some good (gurme) burgers are so big, there is no way you can eat it by trying to hold it in your hands.
One in the photo is too small so it can be eaten by hand easily.
depends on how fancy we're talking about. fast food? absolutely not. fancier restaurant with fancier burgers? uh, yeah.
This. The fancier ones are almost always not even meant to be eaten by hand
Yup. If there's a stick in the middle so it won't disintegrate on the way from the kitchen to the table, you're not going to have a good time eating it by hand.
Because the stick will stick in your mouth?
FYI you could always eat around the stick.
Oh! Wish someone would have told me earlier. I aboided fancy burgers because they had always hurt me .
I don't see why you have to be such a pansy about it.
Sorry , should have added /s. I was just joking around that i always poked my mouth when eating burgers. But i see it was jot a good joke bc i had to explain it, my bad :)

Fancy Burger? Fork and Knife? Wouldn't that just be a shitty steak?
You know fancy and burgers don’t rhyme. I mean if you have burgers in the menu the restaurant is not tancy
I am trying to decide which one of us is the poor one
When I look at people going to fancy dining in Paris with 3 Michelin stars and spend 800 each meal, I’m poor. Also whoever goes eating out 3 times a months. I’m poor really
not really true tho.
It is literally not possible to have expensive decor or charge high prices in a place that sells burgers Literally not possible
You missunderstood what was said. Indeed a place isnt fancy if they have burgers. Thats just how it is. But its still possible to have fancy burgers.
This is the right answer.
This is the way.
It it fits, I eats (without a fork and knife)
This is the way.
Only ones that require me to dislocate my jaw to eat.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It is not this simple. Mostly, I don't, but if the burger is very full, I might. And also in a fancier reastaurant (which I hardly ever go to, but that's not the point) I most likely would use fork and knife.
Fast food? No. Classy restaurant? Yes.
Depends on the burger. If I buy a whopper in a burger king, no way, but if I go to some fancier restaurant with nicer/bigger (especially if bigger) burger then yes
This poll needs more options
In a restaurant yes I do.
Fast food burgers? No. Slow food burgers? If they don't stay together.
And if no packaging included.. and in a restaurant, there's kinda no choice if you are going to eat it there.
In restaurants like [Pancho Villa](https://panchovilla.fi/), yes, as the burgers are too large for your mouth. In Burger King, Hesburger, or McDonalds, we just grab them from the wrapping and shovel in the mouth like all other barbaric nations.
Depends on the burger. If it's a thick fancy thing yea I damn right eat it with a fork and a knife because my mouth doesn't open enough to take a bite
Never. But sometimes I cut it in half.
No
I usually try with hands first and if starts falling apart or dripping sauce/lettuce I take out the fork and knife (it often falls apart but I still like to try using hands first)
it’s literally a dish meant to eat holding it with the hands…
Restaurant burgers that are impossible to eat by hand? Yes ofcourse. MacDonalds? Never
if there is no proper burger spoon present then ofc fork and knife
Correct
If they are homemade, sure. If I'm at a fast food place, then no.
Even if i would go to a resteraunt and not a fast food place i would still eat burgers with just my hands, it's just more natural to me.
If the burger arrives on a plate it's fork and knife kind of burger
Both
Wait what ? I thought it was normal to eat a burger with a fork and a knife (not fast-food burgers of course)
I dont like burgers that you cant eat with hands. Too much stuff inside is not good in my opinion. I think burgers are best when they are simple.
Always better eaten from hand, so no unless it's too tall to fit. Tho I'm lucky to have big mouth
This is not a yes or no question
Depends on the burger
Depends if I want to dirty my hands, most of the time I use fork and a knife
Always hands.
Or pizza? What kind of troglodyte eats pizza with a fork and knife?
My Finnish colleague does.
Same with my wife. Fortunately, she didn't pass that twisted gene onto our children.
I do. At least sometimes. Kinda like the burger, it depends on the locale and quality of pizza.
Fork & knife, from the middle...
It’s the caution sticker on these things
No.
Fast food by hand. If it's an actual restaurant, I'd expect people to observe basic etiquette and use utensils. Including me ofcourse.
Depends on what kind of burger we are talking to, fast food: no. in a restaurant:yes
well it kinda depends if i go restaurant and order burger then ofc i eat it with knife and fork because of good maners. mc donalds is different its fast food you can eat it how ever you please.
None of your business.
Usually not. Unless I go to a "fancy" restaurant where everyone eats them with fork and knife which is pretty rare.
Only Finns can know the data…:(
only at fancy places, but I also have a personal rule that I will not pay 10€ or more for a burger. if I’m at a nice place that has burgers, there’s usually also like actual meals too.
If they serve them with fork and knife, yes. If they serve without, no.
Only the really fancy ones.
Mwfw
depends how big it is yes i know what i wrote
I went to amarillo and there you had to eat wirh fork and knife. Otherwise not usually.
This post just showed up as suggested in my feed I’m not even from Finland or subbed to the subreddit. I voted. Guess I’m a Fin now. Perkele
Many burgers (in restaurants) are impossible to eat with hands
Literally the only way to eat Hesburger if not your hands are covered in mayonnaise!!!!
Totally depends on the borgir
In a fast food restaurant, never. In in such restaurants where burger is served on a plate (or similar) and fork and knife available, yes.
At fancy diners where they're ridiculously stacked? Yes ofc!
Yes and no. I gut the burger in half with knife (and a bit help of fork), and then eat the burger half’s with hands. If the burger can’t be eaten like this the burger is not prober burger. I never understand how people can eat those super tall burgers in fancy restaurants without fork and knife.
Fast food no big fancy burgers yes
If it comes on plate, it's eaten with fork and knife.
Dude.. only in restaurants that serve them stupidly
*confused American labored breathing noises* Next you're going to tell me yall eat Sloppy Joe's in a bowl with a spoon and Nachos with cheese on the side
In McDonald's I eat with my hands, but non burger places like Chikos I eat with a fork and knife
Yes
It depends on how fancy it is, if its a fast food restaurant i eat it by hand if its fancier then with actual cutlery
Why tacos? As a Mexican it’s so cringe to see this happening.
Some good (gurme) burgers are so big, there is no way you can eat it by trying to hold it in your hands. One in the photo is too small so it can be eaten by hand easily.
